Shoutout to Maddy for being a great host! Recommend you ask for her area! Good food! My wife had the Belgian Waffles with cinnamon, strawberries, and Mango, Pineapple, & orange drink. I had the eggs your way, egg white scrambled with cinnamon bacon and mimosa for the drink. Finished it off with a chocolate chunk (chocolate chip cookie) to set off my birthday breakfast the right way! I love Chicago and this is the first time I've ever been to this establishment. I was a little surprised that the cheddar was white cheddar since back home I'm used to yellow, but it was good nonetheless! The price was fair, especially for such a good meal, but the service was by far my favorite part of the experience. Our waitress, Maddy, recommended the waffles, and honey, I am SO glad I listened! She was absolutely right about the streusel on top. Chef's kiss!! And trust me, I'm not usually a waffle girl, but I sure was today! We're in town celebrating my hubby's birthday, and Maddy remembered! She made sure he got to pick out a pastry, and those little thoughtful touches mean so much to me. It's one thing to have good food, but it's another to have someone make you feel welcomed, remembered, and taken care of. Whenever we're back in Chicago, we will absolutely be returning, especially to this location! It is so cute inside and out and CLEAN! I love seeing a clean bathroom in an establishment so kudos! Thank you, Maddy, for making our experience so special. Beatrix, you've got a good one!

Decided to explore downtown Chicago this weekend and wanted to grab a little snack to enjoy on my…read morewalk. That's when I stumbled upon Do-Rite Donuts & Chicken! I arrived around 9:30 AM, and their most popular donuts were already almost sold out. That's always a good sign! I ended up getting a cruller and a strawberry-frosted donut. I tried to practice a little self-control by eating only half of each and saving the rest for later, but that plan quickly went out the window. They were just too good to resist! Later in the day, I told my friend she needed to check this place out for their donuts, only for her to tell me that it's her go-to spot every Sunday. Clearly, she's been in on this little gem for a while! While paying for my donuts, I also noticed they serve chicken, which gives me another reason to come back. I can't wait to try some more of their donuts and eventually venture into their chicken sandwiches. Definitely worth a stop when exploring downtown Chicago, especially if you have a sweet tooth!

We walked to this location and it was busy! It's a walk-in location but they have a few stools inside and tables outside to enjoy your food. In addition to donuts, as the name suggests they also have a variety of chicken tenders and sandwiches, but at 9:30 in the morning, it was a little early for me to enjoy chicken, but I'm sure it's delicious! It was hard to choose what donut to eat because they all looked delicious, but I settled on the apple fritter and my wife had the gluten-free sprinkle one and it was so good, she ordered a second to go. My apple fritter was great and not too sweet. Based on the donuts, I would come back to try the chicken! What a great local spot with great donuts.

Once you place your order, someone there will get you a seat, so you won't have to hunt for your own seating (which is soooo helpful) and then servers will run your food and drinks to you. The lemon Bundt was lemony but not overpowering, my favorite breakfast sandwich was the croissant; it had a sauce on it that was soooooo good!!!! The drinks were just as good as the food! We tried a classic brunch favorite: Chicken and Waffles. Juicy, crispy, and well-seasoned chicken served on top of a warm, fluffy, sweet waffle, topped with a scoop of butter and drizzled with syrup. Such a delicious combination! We also tried the Huevos Rancheros: a crispy tortilla topped with a spread of black beans, cheese, a sunny-side-up egg, salsa, and guacamole. The perfect way to start your morning! They also have an extensive selection of pastries, so there's definitely something for everyone.

I stopped around 9:45 a.m. on a Friday and was able to find seating. The service was excellent, friendly, and welcoming. I ordered a vanilla latte, but the coffee itself was very standard, especially for the price. It tasted like regular coffee with cream and flavoring rather than a carefully made specialty latte. The attractive setting and excellent service helped, but the coffee did not justify the premium pricing for me. If I were in a hurry and needed something convenient to grab and go, Otherwise, I would look for a more notable local coffee shop.

So searching in Yelp I see a Cuban restaurant, and that's my fav, so I went in and I had a great early dinner. Cafecito would be at home in a pre-revolutionary Cuban building, when Art Deco architecture permeated much of Havana and the other major cities in Cuba. Plenty of outdoor seating, but I chose to eat in the cafe area due to time constraints. I had the Vaca Frita which I haven't had in over 60 years and wow, it was amazing. It came with the proverbial white rice, black beans with plenty of condiment, and maduros. Oh yummy. My Cuban grandma would have been pleased... The waiter was indeed, a Cuban American who had come over during the early Cuban diaspora. We chatted a bunch about the old country and had a pleasant conversation about being from the same province in the island. Great reminiscing, great food, great service. Yum.
