This place was totally worth the drive. Small shop, but it smells amazing the second you walk in, coffee, chocolate, pastries, all of it, they had it all. The staff were super nice, just good vibes all around. I was craving hot chocolate and this spot really delivered. I got La Parisienne, a hot chocolate that was dark, a little bitter, smooth, and rich... exactly how I like it. That mix of flavors just hits right. The whipped cream with a dust of cocoa powder on top was the perfect finish. Also grabbed an almond croissant, and man, that was a good move. Stopped in here recently on a walk with a friend and the timing was perfect - is there anything better than a brisk walk on a brisk day with a reward of amazing hot chocolate at the end? A friend and I split a small classic hot chocolate and it was absolutely delicious. If we had more time, I would have indulged in some of their baked treats, which also looked fantastic. It's possible we could have missed it. We each ordered a hot chocolate, they do have several to choose from. The drinks were hot and rich. I honestly haven't seen much online/on social media about this place so it's a hidden gem in my eyes. I'm glad I found it on Yelp. It's truly a chocolate lover's dream. They are known for hot chocolate and have many varieties. I tried the seasonal pumpkin and classic dark chocolate, and both were like warm hugs. The drinks were rich, decadent, piping hot, and irresistible. They also have a variety of candies, cakes, coffee/tea drinks, and other baked goodies. We got a slice of German chocolate cake and it was fresh, not too sweet, and had a good amount of coconut. The service was outstanding--very kind and helpful staff despite the busy Sunday afternoon! It's been years since I was in Chicago and stopped here. I was thrilled it is still going! Good drinking chocolate is a special thing and theirs is excellent. Of course all the other drinks, food, and chocolates and chocolate bars are, as well. They had these adorable breakable chocolate dreidels with Hanukkah chocolate shapes inside them this year. This place is cute, with a very early 2000's nostalgia fall vibe which I love, AND it is actually some of the best hot chocolate I've ever had. It is a tad pricey for the size of the small hot chocolate, but besides that it's great! We stopped here for hot chocolate and coffee on a chilly afternoon in Chicago. The drinks here taste well made, and you can tell that they source high quality ingredients. I ordered the pumpkin sliced latte, which had a great pumpkin purée flavor, which was not lost in the coffee. It was definitively one of the better pumpkin lattes I've had in the city. I came to here today by myself. Today was pretty cold and I wanna get some hot drink to get warmer. After checking out the menu, I got their signature drinking chocolate. One thing I want to mention is their not so polite service. I was not greeted nor felt welcomed. The staff gave me a whatever attitude. It's kinda made me feel upset. Adorable cafe located in the city. I admired the modern decor and assortments of cafe items, baked goods, and chocolates this place had to offer. I ordered a slice of the chocolate cake, classic dark cocoa and the tumeric lavendar matcha latte. The chocolate cake was delicious, the cake was nice and airy with and the frosting was the perfect sweetness level. Their classic dark cocoa was delicious and rich and hands down the best cocoa I've had in the city. It was rich, chocolately, and creamy, they're not using the powdered packaged Swiss Miss that most places do. The matcha latte was a miss for me, I dont think I would get that again but I'm definitely returning to try the other drinks they offer. read more

I try to pop in here and spend a solid G every time I'm in old town bc it's impossibly easy to do. Aside from amazing coffee and pastries, I actually come here for their wall of chocolate from amazing chocolatiers making small batch and incredible chocolate bars from around the world. A notable brand from Hawaii that has passionfruit chocolate is always available here, but the all of the chocolate bars are unique, beautiful and around $10 on average, making them lovely and affordable gifts. read more

An adorable coffee shop serving up La Colombe coffee with a great pastry selection to boot, but what's really great is the impressive chocolate bar collection up against a wall. Ask the owner for a recommendation and she will wax poetically about exactly what makes each bar unique and delicious. I definitely bought more than I intended but I'm super excited to try them all. Not much seating but this place is a a real coffee shop if you are looking for a place other than Starbucks that has comparable price but better quality.
