The place is located at the top floor of a mall, but don't let that deter you. It's easy to find after taking a series of escalators and not as chaotic with foot traffic as other parts of the mall. The quality of the whiskey is great and they're able to personalize each bottle, making for charming gifts that aren't more expensive than they should be. Piper helped us and was lovely. Definitely recommend if you're shopping for a whiskey or tequila lover. read more

Spirits and Spice in Water Tower Place is such a fun little spot to explore, even if it's a little intimidating at first. The staff greets you the moment you walk in and asks if you need help or what you're looking for or if you've been there before, but they're happy to back off and let you browse if you're just looking. That said, they're incredibly knowledgeable and helpful when you do have questions, and they seem to know their products inside and out. One of the best parts is that you can sample literally anything in the store- just ask! The cranberry earl grey mixer ($12.99) we picked up on our last visit was the highlight of our Christmas Eve drinks this year. It has a hard hit of cranberry tartness with a light floral note to even it out. Located on one of the top floors of the mall, this shop is filled with artisan liqueurs in unique flavors like melon, mango, and key lime. It's a little bit on the expensive side but it's a great spot to check out if you're looking for a unique gift or something to make your dinner or holiday meal pop. read more

Love it here. Husband and I wound up wondering in here because the sports museum was closed for a private event and thought we would check out the stores around it. The staff in Spirits and Spice were so helpful and friendly. Rickey helped my husband out with bourbons and Piper talked with me about the wine selection and I don't think I have ever had a friendlier person help me anywhere. We both had great experiences. We had a party member well versed in spirits as well as a newcomer, and she was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. Went to a tasting there and boy did we TASTE! Love the idea that EVERYTHING from the whiskey to the wines to the olive oils were up to try! They have great variety and unique spirits that I loved not to mention the staff who are. Extremely knowledgeable about the various products. LILIAN was amazing and attentive. Ricky, the pretty one(haha) was awesome at creating tastes by mixing the spirits, he definitely introduced things I'd like to try! And John was quick on his feet! Saw this store on event bright as they were hosting a whiskey experience tasting. We signed up because my husband Has really been into trying new whiskeys and bourbons. The location of the store is within the Water Tower mall. We found parking on spot hero at a nearby hotel for only $13. It inside the mall was several several stores to includr Garrett's Popcorn. We arrived at the store about 5 minutes before the tasting was to begin. We were able to look around and see all the different items they had to sell which included wincluded wines liquor of course whiskey and oils. They also had a lot of really cool boutique items that would make very good personalized gifts or individualized gifts. The tasting itself was really good we probably tasted 5 different whiskey's that evening and was able to get a history and more information about the actual distributor. I like how Dan knew a lot of information in history regarding how how whiskies are classified how bourbons were classified and even the history asked to the new Japanese whiskies that are becoming more prevalent. We really enjoyed the Two Bitch bourbon which is a batch almost exclusively sold at spirit and spice. We ended up buying a bottle of that as it just really divine. We also were able to taste some of the liquors and they were so flavourful. Some of our favorite liquors that we tasted was the Sundrop Agave, the melon, and the tart cherry. My husband really enjoyed the old fashioned liquor. Thank you to Jasmine for being patient and walking us through all varieties of liquors. I definitely want to make my way back here for some of the wine tastings sting's. And also I plan on going back just to get gifts if's to give that a personalized. I like the fact that they are able to custom customize any gifts gifts that you grab. read more

I saw a segment on the morning news about this unique store. So while I was in Water Tower Place I decided to track it down on the 7th floor and check it out. Spirits and Spice is a unique store filled with so many things. The spice section is endless. The oils and vinegars are so diverse with unexpected options. The wine department is filled with wonderful choices not found in mainstream stores. Then there are tons of options for liquor. The salesperson took me around and offered tastes of the ones I was interested in. I was going on a girls trip so I purchased several bottles for our beach house. There is absolutely every flavor you can imagine. They wrapped them up and got them ready to travel in my suitcase. It was so convenient. The girls loved the Tiramisu for our coffee. I also brought Passion Fruit Agave for creative margaritas. I included Piedmont Gin for proper martinis. In addition to all of the wonderful options, they also offer a ton of gift items. There are cute kitchen towels, soaps and more! The man that assisted me was so wonderful. He was friendly and personable. I enjoyed visiting with him as much as I did shopping. I can't wait to return to see what suggestions he will have for my next visit. read more

Holy cats, is this place for real? Hundreds...I mean HUNDREDS of spirits and wines to taste, and not your run-of-the-mill, off-the-shelf brands. These are all crafted beverages that will excite your taste buds. I hardly had time to explore the 'wall of vinegars' and spices, but there's a craft of mixology going on there, too, that is a sight to behold. The entire experience is capped off by John and Piper, who have an almost intimate knowledge of every product in the store and delight in sharing their joy with you. I have never seen a shop like this; what an amazing idea! They have a huge range of small batch spirits from around the world and will let you try a sample before deciding on what to,purchase. This is brilliant, as small batch spirits aren't cheap of course, and I am sooooo hesitant to pay the understandably higher prices for this type of product when I'm not sure if I'll really like it/appreciate it enough to warrant the splurge. They also will fill bottles as small as 100ml of anything you would like to purchase which is also great for trying out something new or buying someone a flight of spirits as a gift. They also have a great wine selection, and a huge assortment of vinegars and olive oils that you can also try before buying. Staff were friendly and very knowledgeable. We'll definitely be back when downtown, and were happy to learn they also have a location at Oakbrook Center. read more

I originally walked by this place and asked my friend to stop in with me to browse. I announced to her that I wouldn't buy anything, I just wanted to look. I thought this was one of those stores that sold regular liquor in fancy decorative bottles, I was very wrong. Let me start backward, I went from saying I wasn't going to buy anything to sampling Olive oil, tequila, scotch, and speciality liqueurs. Next thing I know I was like I will have one of those, one of these, and how much is that $107, yeah that too. Now for the first part of the shopping experience, I wanted to sample some of the unique drinks and they require you to meet with a sales person who has a tiny key to unlock each bottle. Out comes this sort of hot and overly charismatic Italian man who knew just about everything about the products. He starts making recommendations based on what we said we liked and the next thing I knew, I was drinking stuff I wouldn't have normally tried, and I loved it! He's everything a sales person should be and a bit extra. I am not a flirtatious person so I wasn't even remotely moved by his appearance for me it was the product knowledge. I never buy from people who don't know enough about the product. So here comes the creepy part, he's so good at reading people he starts giving random examples. Only the examples were extremely specific things that wouldn't apply to most women, but applied to my friend or me. It was weirdly specific, so I started to look around like am I on some sort of hidden camera? It wasn't something that someone could guess but simply looking at us. We were in the store sampling products, and shopping for at least an hour. Yeah, you heard me I was in that one store for about an hour plus and time flew by quickly! Next thing, I know I'm at the register and my bill is just shy of $400. Ha ha ha "Let's to look in there, I'm not going to buy anything." I left out of there with a gift box, and a reusable shopping bag that's as actually heavy. Several of the bottles were gifts for my co-worker and he politely wrote on the bottles in a decorative way that would make it very cool for her birthday party. I felt appreciated. I had fun. I spent a lot more than I wanted to. I love the different products and gifts I purchased. Not only is this a good place to shop it's a good time when hanging out with friends. Several of the women in the store started making recommendations to each other and chatting me up. I feel like I crashed a party and got accepted. Lol 10 out of 10 read more

I haven't been in the Water Tower Mall in months since shut-in 2020 started. I've been in Macy's on the first floor since then. After I stopped at Aldo's I came across Spirits and Spice. This is a nice combo of olive oils, beers, wines and spirits. This has a lot of local and some foreign products. read more
