There was an extensive variety of candy and snacks from Japan and Asia, so colorful and attractive.  The store was quite busy even at 3 pm on a Friday.  I truly felt like a kid in a candy store, happy but a little overwhelmed. There were not just candy and sweets, I saw some traditional Chinese dried fruits, such as dried plums, which are very salty.  Candied fruits called Tanghulu and some fruit-shaped ice cream are interesting. Our friend is familiar with Asian food.  She happily showed me a bag of Japanese rice cake and other snacks that she was going to buy.  The cashier checkout is at the end of the store, which is a bit unusual.  The checkout process seemed efficient and friendly. Since I was planning to shop for baked goods, I didn't purchase anything this time. But I will definitely return and spend more time exploring the store. There is so much to see, and I'm sure there will be something appealing for everyone.

For example, I am used to seeing the logs of three hazelnuts laid together and covered in dark chocolate or milk chocolate, these were nowhere to be found on the counter. There are several other versions that were not visible or laid out on the counter. However, they did have a wider assortment of the solid animals for example, how convenient that they had the horses in preparation for Chinese new year Prices here haven't changed at all, not surprised. Glad the staff on this particular day there were three of them behind the counter, which is a lot and we're very friendly and attentive as well. Disappointingly, though despite the amount of chocolates I bought, which was a little short of $100 was never offered a sample of anything and every time I go I'm always offered multiple samples. Not sure if this is a new policy or a new practice. One of the employees also noted that the owner of the store was sitting directly outside of the store and she and the gentleman were seated at a small table. The woman was on the phone the entire time, and the man was gazing at his cell phone as well. I'm glad that they let their employees do their jobs and they don't micromanage apparently which is good. I also expected to see more Christmas decor and just more decor in general as these stores are typically filled to the brim with their cute decorations and the sample giveaway boxes and the flowers so I was a little surprised to see it pared back this year.

The bar supposedly got its name from the 1844 novel The Three Musketeers because the candy originally had three pieces in one package (flavored chocolate, strawberry and vanilla). During WWII the strawberry and vanilla flavors were dropped due to rationing of sugar. I very much enjoy this candy bar as you can't go wrong with its light and fluffy filling. The grass is well maintained golf grass. No signs of invading weeds at all. The flower plants are huge and healthy. The building is not an eyesore smack dab in the middle of a residential area but fits well not drawing much attention until you see the official sign. Looking into the big picture windows you can see where the sorters could be packaging these sweet goodies. Maybe one day the doors will open greeting us with M&Ms open arms and chocolate kisses.
