It saved me from having to buy overpriced souvenirs at the airport. That said, we would have never known this shop existed had it not been for the fact that we opted to have lunch in Chinatown. That and in typical fashion at a dim sum restaurant, we stuffed ourselves to the brim and chose to walk off some of those calories when a huge selection of stuffed animals, including Pikachu, caught our attention. I mean, seriously, how could they not? The window display for this shop was full of so many anime characters, toys, and Chicago memorabilia as a whole. Upon entering, too, there is even more. The shop looks small, but the aisles are longer than you think. Each aisle is jampacked with trinkets, pending their new homes. I only purchased two items, and my recipient loved them. Would shop again if in the area. Also want to add that even if there is a language barrier, staff is very nice. There was a couple there when we went looking for a wok and the lady at the cashier happily instructed them to go to another shop that did indeed have woks as they did not. read more

I love this kind of mom-and-pops that are filled with unusual and hard-to-find items. You can find the expensive Buddha to the less expensive but beautifully made game statues. But in between of course you can purchase some Chinese candy to chips that you may recognize, but in foreign packaging that will make an awesome gift basket stuffed with more items. I think this place is fun, but be warned: it is not a big space to navigate in, so be careful to not knick over fragile items. Unfortunately, I believe due to theft, you will be followed! I find it fine since I am here to purchase not to pilfer.itz part of the game. I didn't like that they do sell tiny turtles, as these have been known to bring in salmonella and I don't think it's a good idea to sell novelty pets. Just my take. But unusual items they carry so be prepared to spend some time here if you want to really dig and look around. All in all a 3 star, the turtles take away 1. read more

Omg I am so glad we stumbled upon this store! They have traditional Chinese clothes for both men and women. We each got a cool outfit among other things here like Chinatown logo T-shirt and sweatshirt. They also have different kinds of souvenirs, kitchen wares, and others. The prices are very reasonable and cheaper than other stores. The workers there were very helpful. They helped us find our size just based on looking at us. They fit perfectly! read more

This is a must visit when you are in Chicago Chinatown! There are many good finds for souvenirs as well as other things that kids are crazy about at a fraction of the price compare to elsewhere! The staffs are very helpful though they might seem mean or rude because they don't speak English fluently. My teens and tweens are still talking about this store! I got so many things that I would spent twice as much if I went to different place. went in with family and the cashier assumed I was stealing on my way out! I had a bracelet and realized it was overpriced and left it nearby while my father in law was buying something. on my way out, the cashier asked "where's the bracelet". I told her i left it nearby I changed my mind and another worker said "where is it". And I went back to show exactly where i left it. These people are racist because there was other people and the worker was only following us and following us the whole time we were there. I am a manager in a store and one thing you can't do is accuse someone of stealing!! please train your workers in loss prevention because this is not right and me and my family will never be coming back here ever again. Asian Image is a brand new gift shop in Chinatown, close to the corner of Cermak and Wentworth. It has primarily Chinese and Japanese goods. It's clean, well-organized, and has a lot of cute Asian character things: backpacks, figurines, origami, statuettes. There are traditional Chinese clothing, figurines and wall hangings, clothing, too. They also carry some housewares and candy (Hi Chew anyone?). Chinatown doesn't disappoint in Chicago! And who can resist the fun tourist-y shops with toys, candys, figurines and Asian culture for the home. Our youngest left happy with practice chopsticks!
