Uncork It is brilliant. Where Binny's has breadth, Uncork It has depth. Their stock isn't as extensive as you might expect but the selection is choice. And extremely reasonably priced. Now that I live in a state that has the liquor industry by the cojones, walking in here when I visit Chicago is like entering nirvana. Adrian is my go-to wine guy for any night of the week. I love that he greets me and is SO incredibly friendly and knowledgable. There has not been a single time that I have come in that he hasn't shown me multiple options, in multiple price ranges, and always helps me find the right bottle to suit my needs. At this point, I simply come in, tell him what I'm cooking for dinner (usually for my friends and I) and he suggests the wine for us. They have a large selection of wine that is comparable to a lot of other places, some on par and some more expensive. They did have a cart in the front of the store, which were market on clearance, but bottles still in the $5-$10 range. The beer selection was ok as well to hold the bf over. He was in search of a specific craft beer that they didn't carry though. The lady that tried to help us didn't know that much about the beer only because he asked her if they carried a certain brand and she said no, but we found it on our way down the aisle. Meh. Convenient spot and was walking distance from the hotel so I'm not complaining too much. They also carry other things like chips, sodas, water, etc for snacks and refreshments besides the wine, beer, and liquor. read more

I really want to like this place more! The location is convenient and they have a good selection. However, for me, the virtue of a neighborhood wine store is having access to staff that can help you pick out a wine. At the least, they could have a few handwritten notes around to recommend bottles. The owners are always there but either they don't know much about wine, or they're just not terribly helpful. I've been using Uncork weekly for over two years to deliver kegs, bottled beer, wine, cups, ice, bottle openers, and keg taps to my office for various happy hours and parties. The service I receive from Gus and Adrian when I call to order is beyond excellent. I think it's been maybe one time out of hundreds that one of them wasn't there to take my call, and I was called back within 20 minutes in that case. They answer all questions, bring up things that I didn't even think of in regards to planning, and keep in contact when they're working on getting specific orders for me, in order to keep me updated. Multiple times I have had to call last minute due to an impromptu request, and they delivered what I needed when I needed it that same day. The delivery drivers are also wonderful, friendly people, hardworking and quick to get everything in and out. Uncork It's service can't be matched, and I'd recommend them to anyone. read more

The customer service here is HORRIBLE! Went to this location on two separate times & the service both at the deli and checkout was met with RUDE store reps (Mya) & assistant manager (Franscico). Two weeks ago I waited patiently to be served at the deli and the store rep looked at me twice then walked away without acknowledging me and proceeded to help a white man who came up after me at the opposite end of the counter. I reported him to the assistant store mgr but nothing was did. As I was checking out, I noticed of my items rung up incorrectly than what it was being advertised for. The rep (MYA) literally started arguing with me in front of customers that she couldn't honor the price bc the price was wrong despite that is what it was being advertised for. I returned to the same store as this is my local store, and the same terrible service the deli rep ignored 3 Black customers and when the black male customer asked if the deli was still opened, the store rep said we are closing in 15-20 minutes. The black male customer said well its not that time yet, so can you help us? The store rep turned back at us with an attitude and started helping us but the guy was so disappointed with his service that he left. As he was servicing us, he never apologized and barely said two words to us. He seemed very pissed that we asked him to provide us with service. The black female customer was so upset that she asked me to report this experience with her. I knew nothing would be done but i went anyways with her. We waited for the manager (Francisco) to come and when he arrived, he said all he could do was write them up. When we asked him what further could we do, he said angrily to write a Yelp review and gave us the store manager name. When I tell you this store hs gone down hill, believe me! I also wrote 3 emails to the CEO of Marianos and left complaint on their website and no one from corporate contacted me. It is clear they don't care about customer service nor how this store is treating people who spend their hard earned money here. I refuse to return. Good luck to those who do. read more

BUYER BEWARE: This place has high prices and rude management/customer service. Furthermore, they will take your money, sell you a defective product, and will refuse to exchange it at all costs which, according to the 810 ILCS 5/2-314 of the Illinois Uniform Commercial Code, is illegal. Let me first start off by saying that I'm a long-time customer of this business, having lived down the block for the past 5 years. I've made purchases here approximately every 3-4 weeks, sometimes even more often. So, this review is coming from a reputable source. I was never happy with this business to begin with, given the high prices and a few run-ins with the staff over the years. The only reason I kept going here was out of convenience. But I've finally reached the last straw and will be taking my business elsewhere. A few weeks ago, I went to UnCorkIt and purchased two bottles of a pre-mixed cocktail. I was familiar with this product because I had purchased it approximately 10 times on previous occasions from other stores. When I went home and first popped open one of the bottles, I noticed that very little carbonation seeped out (the carbonation level was approximately 10% of what it normally has). I then immediately poured the cocktail over ice and tasted it. Not only was the carbonation severely depleted, but the taste was bad. After taking a few more sips of the cocktail, I couldn't stomach it any longer and I had to pour my glass down the drain. So, I went back to the store to try to exchange the bottles for something else since, according to the head store manager, it is "against the law" to refund money for alcohol purchases. However, the store manager refused to even allow me to exchange the opened bottle. She would only exchange the bottle if it was "bad." So, I told her about the lack of carbonation and the bad taste. However, according to the store manager, a beverage is not considered "bad" even if it is severely lacking in the amount of carbonation it normally is supposed to have. Furthermore, even if it doesn't taste normal, it's still not considered "bad". According to the store manager's warped reasoning, a product is only considered "bad" if it has exceeded the expiration date. Not only did I find her reasoning absurd, but the whole way she treated me was just rude and unprofessional. I was very calm about how I approached the matter; I didn't go in there screaming and shouting. Within 2 sentences of explaining my situation she immediately became combative and defensive. It felt like she had a vendetta against me or something. Her attitude and demeanor towards me were so abrasive, that it really took me by surprise. This was the head manager of the store!!! She was also very evasive, darting back and forth around the front of the store as I tried to talk to her. She adamantly refused to accept that the product was bad, dancing around my complaints and citing to the expiration date. She refused to consider that it might not have been packaged properly, or that sometimes, the tops of bottles are defective. It seemed as if she actually enjoyed denying my refund and telling me off. I even explained to her that I lived down the block and was a frequent patron of the store. The staff at the store would certainly back me up on this. You would think that she might give me the benefit of the doubt and let me exchange the product in order to keep my business. After all, it's a $20 sale, which doesn't add up to the amount of profits they stood to gain from me in years to come, given the frequency I shopped there and also considering how much they overprice things. This would have been an easy call for a halfway-decent store manager. I was quite shocked at how she could bungle such a simple interaction. If a store manager could be so inconsiderate towards a longtime customer over a $20 purchase, imagine how she'll treat you. Her actions as head manager for the store speak volumes as to how they value everyday customers. Needless to say, I'm boycotting this store for life. My family, whom I live with down the block, will be doing the same. I entertain quite a bit and I've sent plenty of guests to this place to pick up bottles of wine or beer, but I won't be sending them here anymore. I'm spreading this story to anyone I know, so they too can make an informed choice as to whether they want to deal with these people. read more

I wish I had a liquor cabinet in my apartment. I would stock it with one of everything from here. But since that's not feasible, I guess I'd settle for living in the tequila aisle. Not allowed? Ugh, fine. How, about frequent visits? You got a deal! This is probably one of my favorite liquor stores ever (after Spec's in Texas)!! They have a great variety of liquor, wine, beer, and practically any other item that would be included in a sin stock. I was in Streeterville for my first month in Chicago and discovered Uncork It when I was on the prowl for a particular pre-mixed mojito cocktail. I had already tried Dominick's and two other liquor stores that failed me, but Uncork It knew just how to satisfy this party gal. It took me a while to find it, and I think the staff could tell I was a bit perplexed, but they instantly directed me to the right area. The staff was incredibly nice my entire time there and very friendly. They even had the exact brand/mix I was looking for and a great variety of other liquors as well - they definitely have anything you could ever imagine. I've gone a few times now to satisfy my sinful desires, and Uncork It never fails me. I will admit that the prices are a bit higher than Dominick's, which is only a couple blocks away, but Dominick's also only carries the standard brands and not many unconventional items. Also, Uncork It offers a preferred card that you can sign up for that offers special discounts and prices over time, which is really worth it if you go more than a few times (it's free to join too!). Also, sometimes on the weekends they have a representative of various brands of wine, etc. giving out samples to try, which is really nice. The place has a ton of variety and is a great neighborhood liquor store - they have everything you could need/want. They even encourage the beer pong enthusiast/college girl in me by selling ping-pong balls. Maybe I should add some beer pong to my housewarming party? read more

This is the local liquor store for Streeterville. I really do not have any complaints about the place. The selection is rather good. The prices are OK.....but I blame the steep IL alcohol tax than Uncork It! I would imagine the store's business has seen a bump since fox and obel and dominicks both closed down. I will say that I do not give it a full five stars because it is not Binnys which has pretty much every beer and wine in the world. That said, Uncork It! does good with the space it has. There is a tourist store in the back which is great for last minute gifts for family and friends. It also sells tobacco as well as cured meats and some cheese selection. read more

I was greeted with a smile when I walk through the doors by one of the cashiers. I went in there looking for ginger beer to see what kind of selection they had. Since it is non-alcoholic I wasn't sure they would have it. I was pleasantly surprised that they had several different brands to choose from including the specific when I was looking for. I have been in the store a few times and each time I come in the staff is friendly. I have always been asked if I needed help to find anything. The store is huge and the selection and variety that they offer in my opinion can't be beat. Interaction with staff any time that I have gone has always great. I definitely will be back. Like everyone says, this place isn't as big as some of the bigger stores likek Binny's but they have a good selection of wines in a wide range of prices. They also have tons of beer including Stella for $11.99 which I think was some kind of special. They have many of the infused and flavored liquors that you can't find just at the grocery store. Also I'm a huge fan of the cheese section. For openings at work we'll sometimes run out of cheese and Uncork It is way cheaper than buying that stuff at Fox and Obel. They also have a small selection of frozen foods and I think they're serving sandwiches at the deli counter now. read more

My first review!! My wife is a big time Yelper so I figured I should get on the ball and do my part. Although it is somewhat silly that my first review is for a place that I've never actually been in! But here goes: I recently hosted a St. Patty's day party at my building not too far from UnCork It. Obviously, it was my solemn Irish duty to provide the green beer keg. I called UnCork It several weeks ahead of time to arrange said keg. They were a little taken a-back by the earliness of my request, but hey, its a St. Patty's day party, I ain't messing around. The people I spoke to were all very nice although initially they told me that I would only be able to get a Miller Lite keg in green. I did confirm that they delivered and would also provide whatever else I needed in addition to the keg. (What they didn't tell me initially was that they needed an extra $10 to pick the keg up after the party. Come on, that's a little chintzy, don't you think? I mean I spent over $200 on this order and they needed an extra $10 to pick up an empty can?) But whatevs. So about a week before the party, they called me to confirm and it was at that point that I learned that I could get a green keg in just about anything (I'm a Bud Light man so that was music to my ears.) Its not what they told me initially, but no harm no foul. I squared away my order and was good to go. Party day: they actually arrived an hour early which was nice, but not necessary. The delivery guy was very nice and offered to do everything 'soup to nuts' to get the keg set up. Take it up stairs, tap it, etc. I declined the tap because well, one, as a former frat boy, I understand the mechanics of tapping a keg, and two, it probably would not be a good idea to have a tapped keg in front of me over an hour before my guests arrived. I definitely should have just had him do it and worked on my self control because as it turned out, the tap was broken. So fast forward one hour later when I attempted to get the beer flowing and only had air popping from the tap. I immediately called them back and was rescued about 20 minutes later with a new tap. (I was told that this happens often so I'm assuming that the manager doesn't actually inspect the taps when they are returned. Bad practice, but this time they were lucky and it wasn't too much of an inconvenience for me.) They also delivered two buckets - one for the keg, one for the 10 bags of ice I ordered. It also just so happened that the bucket I put the keg in was cracked and soon discovered green colored water flowing everywhere. Thankfully, the second bucket was fine, but again narrowly avoided what could have been a huge disaster. They need to seriously work on checking their equipment before sending it out. Overall, the experience was fine. The beer was tasty. The service was adequate (nice ordering staff, very nice delivery guy, BAD initial tap, BAD keg bucket, and BAD ice bags.) Be prepared for BAD ice bags, by the way. It seems as though they are being held together by saran wrap. I had at least three bags break open just by touching them. A little on the pricey side overall, but its a downtown booze boutique that delivers so you can't really complain about price. I look forward to someday hopefully going in and seeing what else they have to offer, but I would definitely order from them for my next kegger. I would just first inspect the equipment they deliver with the delivery guy on site! read more

Uncork It! had multiple of the California (Chandon) sparkling wines I was looking for at reasonable prices. The service I experienced was tops. I called on a Sunday afternoon and my order was taken care of immediately -- in fact, I'm glad they called me back about desired delivery dates, as they would have delivered it the very same day and no one would have been at the business. Same day delivery at the hour I'd called, much less on a Sunday, didn't even strike me as a possibility, but that's just the kind of awesome service available here. My guest received his case of bubbly at his office less than 24 hours after I ordered and was so pleasantly surprised. I will gladly rely on this business for reliability, price and great service in the future, for holiday gifts, etc. Great to know that I have an "on the ground," go-to spot in Chicago for local delivery of goods like this. read more

Liquor store mentality; no wine knowledge to be found amongst the staff, run like a small grocery store, no real wine here. Don't waste your time unless you need beer and don't like what nearby businesses have right across the street. Owner thinks he's actually competing with Sams & Binnys and actually spent 10 minutes defaming two area businesses that I happen to really like. Avoid. Big head (and neck) and small thinking. I won't return after the negative comments he made to me, a total stranger hoping for a good shopping experience. Ugh. What a jerk! I left empty-handed. Finally, although it is a relatively small store, it could stand to employ an actual wine professional rather than someone who says "yes I have it" or "no, I don't have it but I can get it for you" instead of suggesting something similar, which is where he faultered...he had no idea what to suggest, which is how I ended up speaking with the owner, who started to put down his competitors. Yuck! Like I need this when I just want a recommendation......Avoid, avoid, avoid. I wanted to leave a "no star" feedback, but no such option exists. read more
