I love Bonci's and am happy to see they've expanded around Chicago. This location is slightly bigger than their West Loop location, still only has counter seating inside but slightly bigger outside patio seating. Service was just as good and friendly as I remembered! If you haven't been before, the process is to order up at the counter by weight (I just tell them small piece, medium piece, etc) and they cut it for you. After they've cut all your slices, they weigh them for a final price. This visit I tried a bunch of different flavors (which is most of the fun in my opinion), and the standout was lemon ricotta - so light and refreshing! Luckily, he wrote down the heating instructions since I took my order to go - you are doing yourself a major disservice if you pop your slices in the microwave to reheat. After 6 minutes in the oven, the crust is crispy and perfect. As always, can't wait to return and try more interesting flavors. read more

This past year I've been using TooGoodToGo a lot and Bonci has been a consistent staple. Their Roman style rectangular pizza slices are fantastic. Again since I mainly get from TooGoodToGo they have a box that comes with about 5 slices of assorted flavored for like $7. Generally a two slices pizza will run you anywhere from $10-15, so this is a great deal. The Rosemary prosciutto is a fave in our house. We've also had a spicy sweet potato slice and a mushroom slice that was amazing. I'm pretty sure they have some mainstay flavors and some seasonal. The staff has always been great when I go in! Always super helpful and kind. The inside has the counter with the pizzas laid out for you to choose. There are a few tables inside and during the warmer months I feel like I've seen patio seating on the sidewalk. I may be mistaken. I was really impressed with Bonci's pizza. Their by-the-pound system worked well, and the crust was SO GOOD - airy on the inside with a light crispiness on the outside. The red sauce was a standout, with complex flavors and great balance. They used quality olive oil that enhanced everything, and I appreciated the perfect amount of garlic and spicy kick in the pizza. While it's a different style, I actually preferred this over many of the slices I've had in New York. My only regret is not going back for a second visit before leaving Milwaukee. It is sold by the pound which is rather deceptive if you do not have experience of what the serving sizes are relative to the typical round pizzas most folks are used to. They have a nice variety of vegetarian and, meat combos . We each got different selections. They cut the pizza with scissors, warm it and bring it out to you. The ambiance is definitely urban, as there is no inside seating. We sat in the patio which was freezing from the wind. No space heaters. The lone worker politely brought our hot selections to us. There is no soda fountain, only canned drinks. The pizza tasted quite good and the toppings were good flavor pairings, but it was quite pricey relative to other pizza options. If I lived in the area, I would likely not go routinely but only if I was in a time crunch. read more

Such a treat Bonci is one of our favorite pizza spots in Chicago. They have a variety of savory flavors and even better ones for breakfast too. My personal favorite is the potato mozzarella. My new favorite pizza place! It's vegetarian and meat friendly. There's even a pizza dedicated to vegans. The space is such a great neighborhood spot for anyone who lives close by. It's also easy to find parking if you drive over. The inside of the space isn't too big but there's a lot of stools to sit on inside the shop and then there's the option to sit in their enclosed outdoor patio area. All the workers are so kind and genuinely so happy to be there. The way that it works with the pizza is you pick you pizza and you tell them how big of a slice you want. Then they weigh the slice to give you a price. I got the margarita Burrata and the spicy eggplant. My goodness. The dough was perfection. The slices were crisp on the bottom yet so soft on top. The flavors all went well together. There was just enough sauce. Ahhh just so yummy! Tip: they do have different locations. I believe the one in west loop/west town is larger. read more

Love it! No pretenses, friendly staff, and good food. Seating is deceptively plentiful - upon first glance it seems like there isn't a lot of seating but there's chairs lined up all against the wall and plenty of outdoor seating if it's nice out. I've tried the spicy eggplant, chicken Roma, and potato mozzarella pizza. My favorite was definitely the chicken Roma, although they are pretty heavy handed with the red pepper flakes. The potato mozzarella fell surprisingly flat. It needed some sort of herb to round it out. The pizza is pretty salty - so have that water ready. But the crust is what differentiates this pizza. That and the array of pizzas including a rotating selection! Love that they have several vegan and vegetarian options as well. Definitely recommend trying it at least once! read more

The first time I tried Bonci was during covid at one of their other locations. Instantly fell in love and unfortunately haven't been back since. I like to try new places every time, so it hard for me to repeat. But I'm really glad they opened up this location on the north side. It's such a convenient location. The staff here was great as well. They're all assigned to specific stations and have a nice quick flow going. Most importantly the pizza is just as delicious as I remember. The guy in front of me took just about all they had though. Luckily there was still some decent stuff to choose from. I ended up ordering their Cacio Pepe, Burrata & Basil, lemon ricotta zucchini, margarita and pepperoni. My favorites were the Burrata & basil and their pepperoni. My least favorites were the cacio Pepe and their margarita. I like basil and olive oil on my margarita. This one tasted like a plain cheese pizza. The cacio Pepe had onions underneath the cheese, and I hate onions on my pizza. The pepperoni was delicious. It was covered with pepperoni. It was a little spicy and the crust was perfect. The Burrata and basil was so flavorful. I didn't have my pizzas heater before I took them home which melted the Burrata away. Next time I come in I will tell them not to heat the Burrata & basil pizza. I will for sure not wait another two years before returning here. You will definitely see me coming more often. Really great food and service! It's counter service, so they ask you which pizzas you want, cut you off the amount you want, and then put it in their oven. They also rotate their pizzas, so between the time we ordered and were done at the end, there were a few types cycled out with new ones in the lineup, pretty cool if you want a large variety to choose from! Feel incredibly lucking to have this place in the neighborhood as there are not comparable pizza options that I'm aware of in terms of both the uniqueness of both the ingredients and the crust. Husband and I had spicy eggplant (they are not kidding re the spice), chicken parm, pepperoni, some other type of chicken topping, and another meat topping (sorry husbands choices and I didn't pay that much attention to what they were called.) it was all good but the spicy eggplant was a bit too spicy for me - couldn't even taste the eggplant itself. BEST pizza in ALL of Chicago! Bonci is such a great addition to this neighborhood, the pizza is so original and delicious! The pizza is priced by weight, once you choose your pizza from the pizza bar (there are about 15 different pizza selections), they cut it to your selection then warm it, once the pizza is hot, the workers top it with delicious grated parmesan cheese and/or olive oil. It wasn't too expensive, about $20 for 4 "slabs" of pizza. The service was very fast, as there are many workers and many ovens. The ambiance was also pleasant, it really does smell like you're in Italy! This definitely won't be my last visit! I highly recommend stopping in to order this pizza! read more
