Specialty slice with ham and potato

Small pizza place by Wrigley Field. Pizza is pretty good being we're from New York area and are usually wary of pizza outside our area. Had a ton of specialty pizzas. The person working was friendly and answered all our questions. The cheesesteak pizza was my favorite! Mac and cheese pizza also had a good amount of cheese which made it better than other places I've had Mac and cheese pizza at.

Very delicious!! Loved the crust loved the sauce loved the cheese! The person working behind the counter was also very kind. And pizza was still just as good cold the next day. Loved it. Perfect drunk food or sober food lol

Big G's Pizza gives me flashbacks of my college days! I know Chicago has a lot of great pizza places but only a few offer a diverse selection of gourmet slices and a monthly specialty pizza slice. I first discovered Big G's Pizza after a night out, I feel like this is probably how most people find out about the restaurant. I have been to Big G's Pizza way too many times that I can count and I have not been disappointed. The pizza slices are a nice size, you can easily get by with just one, and they offer a variety of gourmet slices. The prices are reasonable especially for a place so close to Wrigley Field and busy bars. I really like that even though Big G's Pizza is closer to Wrigley Field they don't focus on having a fancy dinning area and keep the place looking like a classic hole in the wall pizza joint. They have a lot of cool murals around the restaurant and highlight valued customers by posting pictures of them on the walls. I would highly recommend checking out Big G's Pizza if you are looking a NY Style slice of pizza.

Big G's has been here a minute. At least since before all the new businesses moved in. Back when people hit bars for beers and drunks walked the streets seeking food till 4 am.. Ahh, gone are those good ol' days. (Wrigleyville was a different drunken scene a decade ago. More fun and higher populations. Drunken douchebags aside.) Aside from Dimo's, this is that other thin crust pizza joint in Wrigleyville offering specialty slices. All those crazy slice offerings like mac n' cheese, taco something, pulled pork, etc. It's not the cleanest place nor are their employees following all the rules of cleanliness but, when you feel like a tasty slice with a drink.. there ya go. Nowadays depending on how busy the night is, there are times I've passed by and found them closed or just unwilling to answer the phone despite posted hours of operation.** There are times of great slices and there are times they don't look very appetizing. The slices on display can look quite unappealing at Midnight and there after. As far as my preferences, I am slice specific nowadays. A good cheese or 1-2 topping with ample red sauce is what I am most hungry for. If I don't see a good one, I'll bail. Until recently when on a whim I decided to order a full pie. Holy crap.. the full pie was EXCELLENT! Not like, I'm drunk wow this is so good excellent. Like; wait, I'm sober and this actually tastes reasonably good. And to think it only took some many years and terrible looking display slices to force me to buy a whole pie.. Hmm. The best part, compared to the per slice it makes the best sense to order a full. Note: When storing. Leave'em in the freezer. I've found that when these slices are heated at 350F in an oven for some ten or so minutes, they come out perfect.

    Hamburger and pepperoni slice

Came in when wandering around the neighborhood recently, and I really want to give it more stars...but the fact they didn't have gloves on, no heat lamps under food, and other general dirtiness in the kitchen area, I couldn't give more stars. I will say the slice I had was okay. I got one of their specialty slices, hamburger and pepperoni. Which has ground beef that is seasoned and pepperoni. As I said, the pizza wasnt bad, but the crust was like eating rubber if it were crunchy. Overall not a great experience, but if in the area and willing to overlook some quirks, you're guaranteed to find something you like. Also, prices are solid, as a large slice and drink was $6.75, so not bad for being a block from Wrigley.

Philly Cheesesteak!! Couldn't wait until I got home

I was really impressed. Lots of unique pizza combinations like the Philly Cheesesteak and the Chicken Parmigiana and Macaroni & Cheese. Each one does a great job of putting your favorite meal on a nice chewy and yeast-flavored pizza dough. I placed my order through yelp and it was ready earlier then expected and they did exactly what I wanted which was to cook the pizzas longer so they'd be extra crispy. I'll be honest... it smelled so good, I could wait the 10mins to get home and had to have some right there lol.

In a pinch before a show at the Metro next door my husband and I came in for a couple of quick slices. They didn't offer up the best pizza I've ever had but for a very quick bite they certainly got the job done. I think I was more impressed with my pepperoni that my husband was with his sausage, but we both found them satisfying. They're well known for their mac and cheese pizza, and I remember when they opened with that almost a decade ago when I lived in Chicago, so perhaps that's worth trying in the future. Service was friendly and the seating was fine for a quick in and out meal. Not a remarkable experience but very serviceable and the perfect place for a quick bite if you need sustenance before a show or a baseball game up the street.

Big G's Pizza is hands down the best pizza in Wrigglyville. When it comes to flavor, price, portions and atmosphere, this pizza place really knocks it out of the park (pun intended). Great place to grab a slice with friends as you'll have a ton of great tasting well thought out taste options with fresh ingredients including an exceptional hand tossed crust that holds up to the taste bud popping toppings. Also friendly staff and great customer service if you need help choosing a slice or ordering a whole pizza.

Good place to go when you're drunk and want pizza by the slice. I am usually committed to Dimo's but didn't want to walk all the way down there. I was happy with his place and their ranch is very delicious.

Usually decent pizza, but this is unacceptable. Never again.

Up until tonight, my experiences had always been positive and the food was fantastic. Unfortunately, this visit was more than disappointing. I ordered a salad I've had at least a dozen times before, accept I added grilled chicken on top. I live for this salad and was just there maybe three weeks ago. Unaware that they have changed their menu, I ordered as usual. The name of the salad has not changed on the menu, but apparently the ingredients had been completely altered. When the dish arrived, to my surprise, it was drastically different and not something I enjoyed at all. I politely informed our server, who was kind and accommodating, and offered to replace the dish. However, it was now 6 p.m. we had tickets to see The Wiz at 7 p.m. and didn't have time to wait for another order, which I also informed her. I asked if the salad could be removed from the bill since it was essentially untouched. The server checked with the owner, who refused to remove the $30 salad or offer any kind of discount. When a restaurant changes a dish but keeps the same name, it creates a reasonable expectation for returning customers. When that expectation isn't met, basic customer service should step in. What makes this even more frustrating is that the restaurant was willing to prepare an entirely new dish, but not willing to remove the uneaten one from the bill. That simply isn't logical. If you're prepared to replace an item, it clearly acknowledges there was an issue, so refusing to comp or adjust the original charge is unreasonable. That decision was extremely disappointing. I, in-turn made the decision to eat only the additional grilled chicken on top, leaving the rest of the salad, paying the full bill and promptly getting out of there so we could be on time for our show. The only positive part of the experience was our server, who handled the situation with professionalism and kindness. Sadly, the new menu leaves much to be desired and this experience has cost Peanut Park my business and my referrals going forward.

Reservations are released 21 days ahead of time, which I personally find impossible to make. Every time I've checked over the last several years there have been no availability. Yesterday I decided to pop on their website again and was delighted to find that they had released same day dinner reservations for patio only dining. The weather was perfect for outdoor dining so I went ahead and booked a table for Friday night. I felt like I won the dinner lottery. Service was wonderful and I didn't mind sitting outside at all next to the road with cars. I actually never stepped foot in the restaurant so cannot comment on what it's like inside. But do not give up that patio dining reservation if it's available. All of our dishes were delicious. I was really impressed by the meatball appetizers, chicken vesuvio (the potatoes are a must get as a side if you skip this dish), and branzino. The meats and sauces were wonderfully balanced and tender. Nothing tasted overly salted. Ironically, the pasta felt less of a star compared to the other dishes. And of course I had to get the gelato, which was so aesthetically presented and the taste just reminded me of an Italian summer vacation.

The calamari was delicious, not too fried and oily but still had so much flavor to it. We also decided to order the peperoni pizza, which is just a magnificent pizza. It was just cooked perfectly with just the right amount of flavor and spice. I ordered the raviolacci toscani, which took a bit of time to come out (but understandable given the amount of people). Alla Vita: A Masterclass in West Loop Elegance…read more If you are looking for a spot that perfectly balances "industrial chic" with "grandma's Sunday kitchen," **Alla Vita** is hitting all the right notes. Located at 564 W Randolph, it's a sprawling, airy space that manages to feel intimate despite its scale. Here is the breakdown of the heavy hitters from the menu: **The Truffle Mushroom Pizza** This isn't your standard wood-fired pie. The crust strikes that elusive balance between a pillowy interior and a crisp, charred exterior. The earthiness of the mushrooms is front and center, but it's the truffle that ties it together without being overpowering. It's rich, aromatic, and deeply savory--the kind of pizza that makes you forget about pepperoni entirely. **The Ricotta Dumplings** These are, quite frankly, little clouds of heaven. While many places struggle with leaden gnocchi, Alla Vita's ricotta dumplings are impossibly light. They have a delicate, melt-in-your-mouth texture that acts as a perfect canvas for the sauce. Every bite feels indulgent yet airy; it is easily the "must-order" dish of the night. **The Tiramisu** To close out the meal, the Tiramisu is a sophisticated take on the classic. It isn't overly sweetened, allowing the bold espresso and creamy mascarpone to shine. It's structured but soft, providing a caffeinated, velvety finale that cleanses the palate without weighing you down. **The Verdict:** Alla Vita is more than just a "pretty" restaurant. The service is snappy, the atmosphere is electric, and the food--specifically the pasta program--is top-tier. Whether you're there for a celebratory dinner or a high-energy weeknight meal, it's a West Loop essential. **Pro Tip:** The restaurant fills up fast, so snag a reservation well in advance, especially if you're eyeing a weekend table.
