Honestly, I swear I could smell it from a block away, and the closer I got, the stronger it became. It was basically a scent trail pulling me in. Inside had that classic bar-meets-pizza-place feel. Sports playing on the TVs, people packed around the tables, drinks at the bar, and the sound of everyone having a good time. Even the second floor was full. It was busy, but it fit the place perfectly. The staff were super nice and gave us some good recommendations. Of course, I had to get the Chicago-style pan pizza with pepperoni, onions, and bell peppers. When it came out, it looked incredible. That signature Pequod's crust had this dark golden, almost caramelized edge that was extra crispy without tasting burnt. The cheese had melted into the crust and around the edges, giving it this crispy, cheesy bite. The sauce was rich and savory with a little sweetness, and the pepperoni added that salty, meaty flavor. The onions and bell peppers brought a little sweetness and freshness that balanced everything out. Every bite had something going on and I'm already thinking about trying pineapple next time. I feel like that would be really good with this. Definitely plan ahead and make a reservation.

To my delight - they offer personal sized pizzas which allowed husband to get the deep dish he was craving and me to get a "thin" crust. Service was quick, friendly and knowledgeable and they even offered to stash my luggage up front so I didn't have to roll it through the restaurant which was a much appreciated little extra.

Then, we also got the Pizza Pot Pie 1 lb for the two of us to share. It took about 20-30 minutes to make it. It did not disappoint! It was phenomenal. The server was nice and we got some appetizers started because we had to wait for about 40min before our pizza arrived. The garlic cheese bread was good and flavorful. The fries were fried nicely and it was quite delicious and both were good portions. We ordered the smallest deep dish pizza size. I think it was called meat on meat. When we got it it looked cool but there was not a lot of meat on it to be honest. The cheese was stretchy but maybe it was just that day or pizza, the dough was very thicky and gooey like. Either it was underbaked or there was a lot of liquid so it made the dough filling and unappetizing. One slice was plenty but I wish they added more meat on top because it didn't seem like it lived up to its name. They also sold merch and the restaurant was red and it had an oldie style which was cool and unique!

We were waited by Bill - who gave great recommendations and provided great customer experience the entire time! 10/10 from him. The focaccia + burrata combo was incredible - I typically don't opt for bread + pizza, although this was so worth it. The focaccia was perfectly crispy yet so soft, and pairing burrata on top gave it that creamy/cold combo that was perfect. The pizza was very elevated - good simple ingredients with an incredible crunch. Extremely paper thin. Highly recommend to come here!

We ended up doing a walk-in on a Sunday night and showed up at 8 PM one hour before close. This worked out for us because we got a really good seat after only waiting for 20 minutes. Service is good and timely- the hostess was super kind and helpful. We started with some cocktails- a Negroni & a spritz (both were good & pretty strong). Then we split the Caesar salad and a pizza with half sausage/olive and mushroom/onion. Yeah, the pizza did blow me away- the crust is perfectly crunchy and so so thin. I wouldn't even describe it as traditional tavern style pizza because I think it's a really crunchy crust- but it's definitely wayyyyy better than Dimi Dimi (that's the most comparable crust imo). The sauce has a slight spice to it, and the whole pizza just feels very layered in terms of flavorful profile. The sausage was also spicy but very good and I absolutely loved the mushroom and onion duo. Sometimes when you go to a certain pizza places, it doesn't feel worth it, but all the ingredients felt elevated here and the pizza had an elevated taste. The Caesar salad had a nice light dressing and a ton of cheese. I wish that the lettuce had a bit more of a crunch to it, but they seemed to use butter lettuce. The inside feels like a classic Italian joint, but it's very small and simple Overall, so glad that I finally went and although it's not a place that I would go regularly because I live far, I would definitely come back!

We…read moreknow from past visits that the service can be on the slower side, and we've always been completely fine with that because we love the pizza and the overall experience. Unfortunately, our most recent visit left me disappointed. We came in around 1:00 on a Sunday on a beautiful day, so we expected it to be busy. We ordered everything at once--two pizzas and a salad--knowing that service can take a little longer. The bartender was also serving most of the tables in our section. The salad came out right away, followed by our first pizza. We then waited another 30 minutes for the second pizza. Our server checked in and told us it was coming, and later let us know that she had spoken with the manager and that there had been an issue in the kitchen. Finally, the manager brought out our pizza and said, "I heard you waited a long time for this." What was disappointing was that there was no apology or any real acknowledgment beyond that, and no attempt to make up for the experience in any way. The wait itself really wasn't the problem. (Though it was awkward that one person in our party watched us eat while waiting for his pizza to arrive). We've been coming here for years, and we've always been willing to wait because we love the food. It was the lack of an apology or meaningful acknowledgment that bothered me. As longtime, consistent customers, we expected a little more when something went wrong. I still love the pizza, which honestly makes this experience even more disappointing. I hope this was just an isolated experience, because I'd really like to continue considering Robert's one of our Chicago favorites. Sadly I don't think we will be back.

Would 100% revisit and want to try their pizza! FOOD RATINGS: - Mozzarella sticks (4/5): Thick and perfectly fried. Beautiful cheese pull! A heavy started but so good you have to try them. - Fried zucchini chips (3/5): Not my favorite breading but not bad. The aioli is unique. - Kale caesar salad (2/5): Not a bad salad, just not my favorite. I prefer a creamy, classic caesar dressing and this one is a vinaigrette-style! It's good but more grassy overall if that makes sense. You gotta love kale haha. - Chicken piccata (5/5): One of the best I've ever had at a restaurant! Perfect sauce, extremely tender and juicy chicken breast. Thickness was ideal. Everything about this was so good, and it paired pretty well with our vodka pasta. - Vodka pasta (5/5): LOVE the pasta shape for this sauce. Had a little kick to it (as it should). I couldn't stop eating this. Generous portion as well - ideal for sharing.
