finding a nail tech isn't easy -- especially in an area where there's so many options. you try a…read morefew, but it's kinda like cinderella... you're just waiting for the right fit. after doing some scrolling and reading reviews, I decided to give Beau Den Spa a shot. the photos looked great and the feedback seemed solid, so I finally worked up the courage to call. kimmy answered and was so sweet -- she asked what i needed and booked me for 10:15 AM the next day. when i arrived, i was greeted right away by a gentleman at the front, and one of the women immediately recognized it was me (happened to be kimmy), which felt really welcoming. although my appointment was at 10:15, i wasn't seated until around 10:30/10:45, but honestly, i didn't mind. they offer refreshments (tea, coffee, water), which was a nice touch. my nail tech was vi (i hope i'm spelling that right!). i came in with a full set from another shop, and i really appreciated that they don't let your nails sit in acetone forever. she removed my old set carefully and started prepping me for gel-x. i went with a stiletto/almond shape, which is totally new for me, so i was nervous but excited. long story short: i LOVE my nails. vi told me my fingers were made for the length and shape (maybe she was hyping me up, but i'll take it ). she also did my pedicure, and the experience was just as good. the bowl had lemons, lemon leaves, and i think even roses? the water temperature was perfect. it felt luxurious and relaxing. i spent about $200 (including a $20 tip). yes, it's pricey -- but in today's economy, that's not uncommon and it's pretty fairly priced compared to the other shops in the area. if you care about quality and the overall experience, i'd say it's worth it. and having Starbucks nearby doesn't hurt either. definitely coming back.

Everything was great until the nail tech cut me pretty bad. My finger still hurt and was sensitive 3 days after my visit. The thing that really disappointed me was my manicure didn't even last 2 days and was already chipping. I usually expect this a week after a manicure but 2 days later?! We came here on a quiet Wednesday afternoon and I had a very pleasant experience! I'm actually surprise this place wasn't super busy but it was also nice not having to wait long for a mani/pedi. Angel took care of my gel manicure and it turned out to be so cute!! She was able to do the design I wanted on my real nails as well. I also got a gel pedicure which included a sugar scrub, towel wrap and hot stone massage. Both totaled to a reasonable price point. I'm keeping this spot bookmarked for whenever I'm in town visiting. :)

I'm not entirely sure what took so long, except that I've always had my own nail shop to go to until pretty recently and have only recently become a nail shop orphan. It's been tough. Being without a nail shop family is one of the loneliest, scariest, and most isolating places a person can be. Who to trust? How to begin anew? Each mani/pedi with a new shop is a shot in the dark, a dangerous gamble, a risky endeavor. So, my sister has been telling me for a while now to stop complaining if I'm not going to just follow her advice (which hasn't led me too far astray in the last 35 years... mostly) and go to her shop. The staff at Glory are all sweet and the shop is clean and tidy. I also couldn't help but notice that their prices were better than what I had been paying at my previous (more pricey) place, and I ain't mad at it. I called before, so I can't speak for their walk-in wait times but they weren't too busy for a Saturday afternoon. I got in and out in a reasonable amount of time but still felt like the pedicurist spent a while on my massage and didn't try to rush through and part of the pampering process. Glory be.

When she finally got to me, I asked if it was her and that I had the appointment for 3 PM. She started laughing and the other nail technicians started laughing and talking over each other. Of course I don't know what they're saying, but it felt a little condescending... Maybe I'm just overthinking things? She did a pretty good job. I feel like she rushed through it though. When I was in the middle of getting my nails dried, she said I can leave but be careful because my nails are still wet... I never experienced that before, as usual they let us go when we're done. And everything is dry and ready to go. Tip: If you happen to make an appointment, I recommend doing it over the phone or in person. Didn't seem like doing on their website was a popular choice. Busy af at 3 PM on a Saturday.
