Shrimp Dumpling, Pork Shui Mai, Chicken Shui Mai, Steamed Chives Dumpling, and Shrimp Rice Noodle Roll
    Kyra K.

My companion and I enjoy dim sum. For lunch, he got us takeout from Dimdoduc, a spot he often visits with his family. I wanted everything we had! They operate primarily as a takeout spot. But there are a couple of seats inside as well. We chose to take out. Service was quick and efficient since you order with the staff and they pack up your food. We got Shrimp Dumpling, Pork Shui Mai, Chicken Shui Mai, Steamed Chives Dumpling, Shrimp Rice Noodle Roll, and Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf. I liked the portion sizes; they weren't too small. There was a lot of meat in each dumpling, and the wrapper wasn't stiff. I'd say my favorites were the har gow and shrimp rice noodle roll. If you're in the Outer Richmond and craving dim sum, Dimdoduc is a solid spot. There are numerous excellent dim sum spots in the area. Street parking only, as it's located off Balboa Street.

Dimdoduc is my new go-to spot for takeout dim sum. The dumplings are piping hot, fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Service is fast and friendly, and while it's mainly great for takeout, there are a few tables available for indoor dining. Highly recommend--I'll definitely be back soon.

Chiu chow- never had one- got only one but really delicious and special the crunchy peanuts make it a delicious texture.

Can't stop saying "Chew Chow." Chiu Chow is a dumpling with meat, veg. & peanuts and really was the most delicious unique bite I had. (Not counting the Pork Bao) Walk up counter with plain and fried rice noodles etc to add to your order. I was here to try the dumplings. I got 3 of too many similar tasting items- chive & Cilantro were so similar and had a shrimp st the bottom plus got shrimp dumplings which were just shrimp. Lol. They sounded good and familiar, so that what I ordered. The girl behind the counter was so friendly and helpful. There was minimal large tables to sit & so I could eat some and figure out what I wanted. But I only had a card so had to spend $25 min. Got Frozen chicken wontons for an emergency. I have had this in my "To Try SF" for a bit- glad to check it off the list. My biggest failure not committing to 3 pork baos! Just do it! $5 for 3! *I scraped up change to get a spare to take to my husband. Fluffy and sweet and no weird bits. Just like when I was a kid. Simple Bao pleasure! If you are in the area- great Pork Bao. Grab a bunch to take to someone.

BBQ pork buns old. I went on a Saturday morning at 828am I will not be back

BBQ pork buns were old and had a strange texture like they had been sitting in the steamer for a long time. The siu mai also tasted reheated. Save your money and go to Chinatown or somewhere with fresher dim sum

We just moved to the neighborhood and let me tell you how excited I am to have a good dim sum spot near me!! We got a lot of different items to try and they were all a hit. Most notable were the congee and egg tart but everything else was really good too! So excited and can't wait to be back!

4/1/2023. Pork Sui Mai with shiitake mushrooms. Delicious! 3 for $3.60

CASH ONLY and LIMITED SEATING I'm really glad there's a cheap and delish dimsum spot in Outer Richmond SF! Went here at 8am Saturday morning. Not busy at all. Small hole in the wall type spot. They even sell frozen dimsum in bags for you to take home and it's even cheaper! Ingredients seems fresh and when I mean fresh, the Pork Siu Mai didn't have that funky smell.. IYKYK fam :) They add shiitake mushrooms in their Pork Siu Mai and it's super FLAVORFUL! My favorites from here so far are: Pork steamed Bun $1.75 each Chives Dumpling 3 for $3.60 Shrimp Dumpling 3 for $3.60 Beef Rice Rolls 3 rolls for about $4.39 (I forgot the price the lady said lol) Cilantro Dumpling 3 for $3.60 : steamed with shrimp. Cilantro brings out that fresh taste. Love it! Chiu Chow 3 for $3.60 : know there's pieces of pork, radish, and nuts inside. Idk what that gooey stuff is but OMG! My favorite dimsum of them all! Juicy, flavorful and has different textures. Love it! Chicken bun was meh, would not recommend. It's just a chicken meatball and kinda dry. Metered parking and residential. Rush hour is usually busy from 3-6pm cause kids coming out of school and folks are getting off work so parking can be a little tight weekdays. Not sure weekends cause we go early. Food is always best when it's just cooked right? So go early if you can. :) eats

"ha cheung" Shrimp noodle roll $4.10 --delicious, noodles not too thick either. Definitely a nice indulgence.

I took a short break from work and took Bik's out to do his biz. So we were walking around the neighborhood and decided to try their "ha cheung" shrimp noodle roll. Since it was a small takeout, we took it to a nearby bench and I ate it immediately. So yummy. The noodles are not too thick, very smooth, good flavor, added a dash of their soy sauce mix only as it was pretty good by itself, and very satisfying. Definitely a nice treat for me. Don't worry, Bik's also got some doggie treats, too.

So this place took over Jook time They have a limited 10 staples dim sum on the steamed display rack. If it looks good eat it . They specialize in dim sum so that's what I went for. I saw that they have specialty chew chow allergy alert dumpling so I got them . Inside they have peanut , radish , pork, def unique The big bun packs a punch . The breading is lighter but the filling is hearty. When You don't wanna sit down at dim sum and wanna sip tea at home grab some food here and bring it home.

Came here on a Sunday morning and we had a group of 8 - so it was impressive that we all fit into the place and it was pretty quick service from the time we ordered too! Good: Quick service and a good variety! I liked the shrimp noodles the best probably and then the baked glutinous bun - the taste was very fresh and there was a lot of food available to us. I also enjoyed the egg tart and the chasu buns - very flakey and tasty. Bad: The place isn't that great for sitting down and the food isn't stellar, it's just average dimsum in my opinion. The utensils and service isn't super stellar either, so it isn't super memorable in my opinion.

Egg custard tart or Daan Tot. This is usually a sweet creamy custard in a flaky crust. I am going to break this down to the components. The custard has a good firm bite, and is semi creamy inside. It seems bit on the stiff side for me. The custard has no eggy taste that I usually expect... it actually have "popcorny" after taste. The entire tart is about 2.75" in diameter. The crust is flaky on first bite but is thick and chewy.

The staff were friendly and super prompt about clearing empty plates and refilling our tea whenever we signaled it was done, which is always great as the dishes just get on coming! We ordered a bunch of dishes to share, and several really stood out. The spicy tendon was fantastic, shredded paper thin and swimming in a classic spicy sauce. The spicy lamb dumplings were another highlight, with an incredibly thin wrapper and a super flavorful and not gamey at all lamb filling. I also loved the stir fried rice cakes, which were sliced thin enough to avoid that overly chewy texture, and the stir fried noodles Shanghai style were classic and simple in the best way, with big chunks of cabbage and meat and just executed really (the chefs clearly have some serious wok skills!). Not everything we ordered was an absolute knockout as the vegetable dishes could use a bit more flavor and seasoning, but everything overall was good, and the portions across the board were very generous. The desserts were a last-minute decision and I am so glad we went for them. The lava custard buns were fluffy and amazing, with a molten salted egg custard inside, and the sesame balls had a satisfyingly crispy exterior that gave way to a perfectly chewy interior and sweet red bean filling. The value here is also excellent. We left absolutely stuffed and spent around $30 per person, which felt like a great deal for how much food we got and how much we enjoyed it. Highly recommend!

Service: It's Chinatown, so if you don't speak the language, no worries--they have a simple English menu with numbered items that makes ordering easy for everyone. It's a cool cultural vibe for sure! We had a massive order (feeding a party of 8), but they were still kind, patient, and efficient. Helpful tip: When lining up, be mindful of neighboring businesses. The owner next door did ask the line to shift away from her entrance, which was totally understandable. BONUS: They accept Apple Pay. We will absolutely return on our next trip. If you're visiting the area, we parked at Chinatown Parking for a very reasonable price, and it was an easy walk to all the restaurants we wanted to try. Pro tip: Make an afternoon of it. I walked into the restaurant about 45 minutes before closing time at 9:30 PM and several other diners came in after I was seated. The unsettled weather made the people hungry for dumplings. Bao is warm and woody and serene on the inside, a great counterpoint to the bustle of Valencia at every hour. Upon entering there is a large window looking on to the kitchen prep area where culinary experts are often at work constructing the food diners later enjoy on their plates. Tonight a couple of wizards were in the process of making chicken potstickers. Even being vegetarian, just seeing how the dumplings and other items are made is like seeing secrets being shared. I love it and it sets the vibe for the restaurant. My order consisted of the steamed vegetarian buns and sautéed string beans. The buns come out beautifully presented and taste even better: the bun itself is just slightly sweet and that sweetness adds an amazing dimension to the chopped fresh vegetables inside. Can't tell you what any of these veggies are individually and I don't care, they are so good. Next came the sautéed string beans and the sear on the beans themselves was perfect and smoky and delicious. The crispness of the sautee makes the string beans a lovely pairing with the soft yummy of the steamed buns. Last came the sesame balls as a sweet meal ending. I love donuts and fresh-made sesame balls are similar to a donut hole just with a filling that is actually food and so sweetly tasty. The outer fry was crisp and the insides absolutely perfect. Three dishes, all fantastic, and I walk home happy and thankful to Bao for a great simple meal!

The siu mai was fairly big and I liked that the order came with a bunch of sauces- chili oil, soy sauce, and a hot sauce. As a big sauce fan, I appreciated the selection! I'll be back to try most of their selection.

I've only ordered dim sum from here through Too Good to Go (2g2g). Like their Chinatown location,…read moreI find the dim sum to be oily. But overall, it's good. The baked bbq pork buns are sweet with a decent amount of filling. The deep fried dumpling is plump, juicy, and crunchy. The shrimp and chive dumplings are my favorite. It's full of shrimp with a slightly thicker skin, which I think adds a nice chewiness. The veggie egg rolls were okay. I personally wouldn't order those, even if I was craving them. The spare ribs had a really nice savory flavor from the sauce. The egg tarts were okay. I need to note that these bags are leftovers from the day, so they're not as fresh. But they held up the next day so I was able to stretch 2 meals out of them. I can't comment on service since these bags are only for pick up. But they quickly provide the bags once the window open. And it's a small space, with maybe 2 tables. So this place is probably best for to-go orders. Their 2g2g bags have more variety than their Chinatown location. Not sure how many dim sum options there are in the Mission, but I would go here if I was in the area and craving a shrimp and chive dumpling.
