It's located on Clement street and it's called the Gourmet Dim Sum. On a Summer stroll on Clement street I landed at the Gourmet Dim Sum. Although there are many different dim sum places on Clement this one is known for having good chowmein. I decided to try their steamed buns. It was soft and savory. I then I tried their har gow which was tasty. A good place to go on Clement street if the lines are too long at other dim sum spot. The pork and shrimp dumplings, spinach dumplings, and chive and pork dumplings were all excellent--juicy, flavorful, and definitely on par with some of the best dumplings we've had. The sweet and spicy wings were fantastic, with the perfect amount of crunch, sweetness, and a nice kick. The pan-fried pork soup buns were amazing, and we also loved the Dan Dan noodles. For dessert, the Portuguese egg tart was so creamy inside with a wonderfully crunchy shell, and the sesame rice balls were delicious. The service was excellent as well. Since this is a newer restaurant, there was no wait when we visited. The servers were friendly, attentive, and very welcoming. We were too busy eating and forgot to take pictures! Overall, a great new spot that my family and I really enjoyed. We'll definitely be back!

Overall, the food is good, good portion size for price, but a tad bit sweet for me. However, with Shanghai style food it is sweeter in general. Regarding the food, Braised Beef Noodle Soup: For $15, pretty good deal. Noodles were not overcooked, beef was cooked tender and good amount of beef for the soup. Shanghai Xiao Long Bao: Pretty big, it didn't really fit the spoon to hold the soup. It had a good amount of soup and filling ratio. The dumpling skin was a little thick but because of the size of it, it was fine. Crab and Pork Xiao Long Bao: Similar review as the shanghai xiaolong bao except it had real crab meat in it. Shanghai Pan Fried Pork Bao: The bottom was crispy and top was soft, the dough is a bit thick. The fried dough part tasted like bread, although the bottom looked crispy it wasn't that crispy. There was a good amount of soup from the bao. Overall, decent place and pretty affordable.

Small seating area with soy sauce and chili paste at the tables. The dim sum is large and sold in groups of three. So one order is 3 of one item. Make sure to ask for it warm if you want to eat it there. We got the shrimp and chives, beef stuffed tofu, and curry buns. Chive dimsum was FAT. Hit it with some soy sauce and chili paste and its so good. The beef stuffed tofu is large as well and still the way we remembered it. The curry bun is decent but hearty when its cold out. Try the sponge cake as well. Always surprisingly "spongey" and lightly sweetened. So good worh tea or coffee, and they are generous with portion size of this. We used to frequent the location in Daly City all the time until they closed and may make the trip out when the mood strikes.

In addition to the "normal" menu, they have a few breakfast specials that you can choose from. We chose: Combo 2: Won Ton Noodle Soup plus a BBQ-pork-filled steamed crepe-style rice roll. The Won Ton Noodle Soup contained three big won ton with good sized shrimp within each, and lots of thin vermicelli-ish won ton noodles. The best part of the Steamed Crepe Rice Roll was the yummy Char Siu chopped BBQ Pork inside. The rice crepe skin was on the thicker side, but that's okay given the yummy filling. Sui Gao + Won Ton Combo (Soup Dumplings with Noodles) - Big soup dumplings filled with pork and bamboo shoot with a few Won Ton tossed in. Good value if all you want is the meat of the matter, and no noodles! Overall nothing too crazy remarkable, but competent fresh food at an affordable price. I guess that says something! I definitely won't mind coming back here for a quick and reliable meal. Lots of direct competition all around for won ton in these few blocks, so they have to stay on their game!

This review has been years in the making...literally. Following my first visit here over a decade…read moreago, I immediately became a fan of this place and have been coming back somewhat regularly whenever the mood strikes for some Chinese breakfast. Only just recently did I realize that I actually never posted a review for Ming Tai! Now that I am, I can't help but wonder if I'm not the only one because after all of these years, how do they only have a few hundred reviews?? Not that I mind, to be honest - I don't really want this place to get any busier than they already are! Now, when I think of hole in the wall joints in SF, Ming Tai is definitely one of the spots that comes to mind. Between how small it is and how it's somewhat hidden behind a tree and a parklet, this place is easy to miss. Inside, the restaurant is snug, with just a handful of four-tops and about a half dozen two-tops. As such, there's typically a wait for a table on weekends, but it has always been worth it (and short). On the menu, you'll find an extensive selection of appetizers, congee, noodle soups, ramen, tossed noodles, sandwiches, rice rolls, steamed rice pots, and sides. They also have a couple of combination specials - one for breakfast (8am-11am) and one for lunch (11am-2pm). -- SLICED FISH RICE ROLL I was excited for this, as I don't usually often fish rice rolls offered, and it was pretty solid! Although the noodles were a little soggy, the fish was really fresh and I like how big and flakey the chunks of it were. -- BREAKFAST COMBO - CENTURY EGG & LEAN PORK CONGEE and STICKY RICE WITH PRESERVED MEAT While I wish this had more of the century egg in it, the congee was great! The consistency was really nice, the pork was juicy, and I like how it included some pieces of Chinese donut. As for the sticky rice, it was decent - the sausage and Chinese bacon were good, but the rice was a little overcooked. -- BEEF BRISKET & TENDONS WONTON NOODLE SOUP The bowl initially looked a little small, but it was actually heftier than it appeared! While I definitely wish this had more wontons in it (plump, juicy), there was a lot of brisket and tendons, the broth was super flavorful, and the noodles had a very nice bite to them. Delicious! Even though I may not be as blown away now as I was when I first discovered Ming Tai, I continue to be amazed by how consistently good the food tastes here. Across the many times I've been here, I've never been disappointed by what I've had and their wonton and congee always hit the spot on cold mornings and/or when I'm feeling less than great. Considering how that's been the case for the last decade plus, I imagine (hope) that will probably continue to be the case in the years to come! And all of that is without even mentioning the fact that the food is quite budget friendly, too! FOUR AND A HALF STARS rounded down for now. CASH ONLY.

Cindy clean neighborhood spot that the hubs and I found as he didn't want to shlep from the northern part of SF to Stonestown; this was in the middle-ish of our drive and in a neighborhood where I figured there'd be high standards for a Chinese restaurant. We were lucky to get there in the early dinner side and it was very quiet; but the dinner crowd picked up later as did the pickup and delivery orders. FYI cash only though they have a workaround involving entering your order through the online system. If I lived in that neighborhood I could see that being a regular weeknight spot for us.
