This might be my favorite mexican restaurant in Phoenix. It's unique and delicious. The papa verde quesadilla is my favorite even though I'm a meat lover. The tacos are also amazing. The margaritas, and the tacos are amazing here. I went for their happy hour. The $5 margaritas were excellent. For a buck extra you can get different flavors. They had refreshing, well balanced margaritas. The tacos were also great. I got the pulled pork and this other one with potatoes. I would not get the potato one again. It was too oily and heavy for my liking. The pulled pork is definitely one I'd get again. They have many vegetarian and vegan options, and almost all of the meat ones can be substituted with impossible burger. This makes it a very accommodating restaurant for those with different dietary needs. I will most definitely return to Dilla Libre. They definitely are doing something right. read more

We were curious about Dilla Libre because of the vegan options on the menu. They use Impossible Burger as a meat substitute (which some consider not vegan because they tested ingredients on rats). The restaurant's parking lot was packed, but it was because of the game room next door. We were the only diners when we arrived, and were given a friendly greeting. It's counter-serve, so we didn't look at the menu too carefully. We ordered a papa verde taco, an Impossible taco and an Impossible dilla -- all made vegan -- for two people. We were served chips and salsa promptly, and the salsa was excellent. It was crushed/pureed - which is my favorite style (rather than chunky). It was dark/roasted and both flavorful and spicy. The chips were good too - thin, but needed more salt (don't they all?). Of the two tacos, I really liked the papa verde one and would have it again. Both the Impossible taco and dilla were too heavy and greasy - just large chunks of "meat," with an oppressive amount of potatoes and vegan cheese on the dilla. I couldn't stomach the quesadilla at all, and only ate a few bites of the taco. No amount of delicious salsa could cover up the greasy taste. We did not try any of the liquors, which seemed to be their sweet spot. It looks like it would be a great place to try some unique tequilas. A couple came in after us that seemed delighted with the shot options. Next time I will try the bean burro if it can be made vegan. read more

Loved this place. Fun little Lucha libre vibe inside. I got 3 different tacos and enjoyed all of them. You get one complementary chips/salsa, and I paid for a second. My family and I are staying in Phoenix and heard about this place; and decided to check it out. When we sat down to eat, Our server was quick to serve us and was super kind and talkative. My friend and I tried out this place I've been hearing about 2 miles from my house. I love cheese, so I was excited to try a place that features quesadillas. Located in a strip mall .. when you step in it's like the Day of the Dead and Lucha Libre moved in together .. color and funny things everywhere! The menu is easy to navigate .. street tacos, quesadillas and aguas frescas (the important stuff).. On today's visit I had the taco de lengua which was tender and flavorful, green salsa & avocado .. the taco de asada equally yummy and the tacosito which is the folded taco dorado this is a chorizo beef mix with a lime flavor.. Even though I saw the Yelp checkin for the free Mexican coke in the bottle .. I had to try the aguas Fresca.. it's 105 outside .. the tigers blood with coconut water was delicious!! In case anyone is wondering, this place serves Mexican food. I think the "Dilla" in their name is a nod to quesadillas and the "Libre" is a nod to Mexican-style wrestling, where they wear colorful masks. One wall in the main dining room has dozens of pictures of libre wrestlers. They serve enormous portions! If you're really hungry, you might be able to finish what they serve, so if you aren't, I recommend one item and splitting it or plan to take home half and eat for a meal on another day. From what I gathered, everything they serve is good! I had a beef quesadilla and others at my table ordered a chicken burrito, all recommended by the waitress. She didn't disappoint. We had two children in our party and they liked the items from the children's menu, including a special drink called, "Dragon's Blood" (non-alcoholic, strawberry, apple juice, and ginger ale). Absolutely delicious. Fresh and if every item is vegan it's outstanding (I ordered all vegan). Some items I had I honestly had a hard time believing they were vegan they tasted so close to the thing they were mocking. The size of the dillas is concerning for the price paid. They are the size of a semi large taco cut in half. Quesadillas are usually a lot larger than these are. For the price of 52$, I got two extremely small dillas and a tot carne fry. The fry was small for 16$ and there was barely any "meat" on it. Tots are not expensive for 16$ it should have been loaded up. I also ordered a extra side of "dank herb salsa" only to find all 6 included salsas to be the same. This was not a stand out salsa in anyway. It was sweet with no herb notes or balance. Nothing was labeled to know if I actually got the extra salsa I ordered or had the "dank herb salsa" at all. The "complimentary" chips on the side where four chips in total and I'm not being sarcastic. Why not give a decent side of chips? This is honestly more expensive then food trucks I've been to. Sometimes food trucks give out better portions then this. The food tasted good but I was left hungry. Now I'm definitely a big eater but I haven't had any portion problems at any other vegan places so far. Definitely won't be back based on these issues. read more

This Mexican restaurant has an entirely separate vegan menu and it absolutely SLAPS!!! It's greasy Mexican goodness, definitely not healthy, but I'm vegan for the animals ‍. It's great comfort food and super convenient to be able to order vegan and non vegan food from the same restaurant without compromising flavor. They have been take out only since the pandemic but the inside of the restaurant is pretty cool and casual. Pretty unassuming place that will forever change the way you think about quesadillas. The place itself is pretty funky they have a bar area and serve up some margaritas. We ordered take out and the food is really what sets this place apart. It's one of those places where you plan your return visit while your eating. We had the Napoleon dynamite, ask for the crema on the side if you don't like spicy, but it was to die for. I also went back a few days later and had the all thai'd up, and it was just as good.
