I love the food and ambience. But 2.7% "credit card service charge" plus 5% "carbon farming service fee" is verging on dishonest pricing.

Came by mid-afternoon for a late lunch/early dinner. We were hungering for some old-style Italian food. And we found it! It's a bright order-at-the counter place, but don't let that fool you. The staff was very friendly and made us feel like we might have been at any first class restaurant. On Tuesdays they have Penne for a Penny (buy one penne pasta, get another for one cent). I had the Vodka Penne, spouse had Red Sauce Penne. Both were excellent and exactly what we were looking for. We finished it off with some amazing Ricotta Cookies that were fantastic. I have to go back just for those (and maybe try something else on the menu)!

GARLIC BROCCOLI, MEATBALL, and ANTIPASTO SALAD were super delicious!! My daughter ordered the chicken Alfredo and she said it was the best. The owner and staff are super friendly, we are grateful we stumbled across this place while visiting Denver. We will be back!

Excellent spaghetti carbonara and a tasty pork and beef meatball.

The Breakup: One epic fail can ruin a long term relationship and sadly I am no longer committed to DiFranco's. On a recent Friday night, when it was not at all busy, I showed up to pick up a carry out order. Unfortunately I observed a violation of basic food safety - the staff was not on their A game and thus hygiene standards were disregarded. I arrived and was promptly greeted and told that my order would be ready shortly. No problem whatsoever so I took a seat which had a direct view of the kitchen. Yup. When a restaurant has an open kitchen you better believe that everything is going to be observed by guests. The person that greeted me took a phone call, placed an order at the register, and then proceeded to go to our order and start garnishing it with parm and parsley without gloves or washing his hands. The phone rang again, he picked up the call and used his bare hands to finish completing our order while continuing to talk on the phone. Anyone grossed out by this? I was. Of course this might make sense if he was the only employee and trying to do all the jobs - still not acceptable but a forgivable mistake. What dumbfounded me was that there were two other employees in the kitchen, one was obviously a cook, both focused on their mobile phones and not supporting the person who was interacting with customers. The other employees just weren't aware. I understand everyone needs a break and all that, but take your mobile phone time away from the kitchen FFS. Once our order was packaged I spoke with the employee and let him know what I observed - I did this away from the register because there was another person picking up an order and wanted to communicate what I saw away from another guest. I got an apology, but I stated that wasn't good enough and that they needed to do better. They did not offer to remake the order. A couple of side notes: the new owner must be aware that this failure cannot be tolerated. This breaks trust in how I perceive other standards are being handled as well. Is the walk-in organized and rotation of food put in place? Do employees wash their hands after toilet breaks? It's really unfortunate that this long term relationship has to end. Sometimes there are deal breakers and I'm unsure what DiFranco's can do to win me back.

Food: wonderful handmade pasta, chicken parmigiana that makes me salivate in memory and one of the two best Caesar salads I've had. Snag their amazing deal on Wednesday date night (two salads, two mains, two desserts and a bottle of good wine for $65!?!?) Service: everyone here is always sweet and helpful. It is a deli counter but it makes you feel special when you dine in. Ambiance: always a great soundtrack and cheery/ clean vibe. I always appreciate their tasteful Xmas decorations, too.

5 Stars -- A Must-Visit Italian Gem in Denver! DiFranco's Italian is everything you want in a neighborhood spot--cozy vibes, kind and welcoming staff, and food that tastes like it came straight from an Italian kitchen. The service was exceptional from start to finish. The staff made us feel right at home and clearly take pride in what they do. My friend is gluten-free and was blown away by the options--not just the pasta, but a gluten-free cannoli! That's nearly impossible to find, and she said it was absolutely delicious. DiFranco's is clearly thoughtful about dietary needs without sacrificing flavor or quality. I had a fantastic meal as well--every bite was fresh, flavorful, and made with care. Whether you're local or just passing through, DiFranco's is a must-try. One of the best Italian meals I've had in Denver!

Loved the perfectly chewy ropes of bucatini tangled with crumbled blue cheese, Castelvetrano olives -- and vodka sauce? This should've been a weird disaster, but wound up being our table's favorite dish. Every dish is a commitment to the genuinely unexpected. There was something delightfully more than just salt, pepper and fry behind the eggroll-sized mozarella sticks. Then there was the fig gelato, flanked by warm pear -- and oh my gosh, the apple tart! We had to go back and reread the menu to realize that the caramel really was spicy! This kitchen really finds the funky note in a dish and leans into it. Come ready to share. Every item comes in a "single" and a "mingle" size, which was great for our table of four. We would order 1-2 mingle-sized items, pass them around, and argue about who gets the last forkful. The rough edge is perhaps the service, but this spot is new and finding its rhythm. We found the handoff between counter and floor to be clunky, since it felt like pressure to order in order to be seated, not to order drinks and wait for a table. Maybe this works in a larger space. Maybe they just need to smooth out the flow. Either way, the people are sweet, and the food delicious.

After that bread was brought over so we could dip into the already placed olive oil and vinegar that was on the table prior to sitting. We started with the calamari with was tasty but noticed the breading kept falling off the rings. I kept having to scoop the fallen breading out of the dipping sauce. For entrees, I got the mussels and linguine and my husband got the chicken piccata. Every mussel in my dish had meat in it which was nice but I felt like the overall dish was missing something as it was quite acidic tasting.. maybe some cream? The chicken piccata was pretty good, with mushrooms, artichokes, carrots, broccolini, and capers. My husband doesn't really like mushrooms or artichokes so I had a few bites of those and they were tasty. He said the dish reminded him of "old world piccata" and not the modern dish he was expecting of just chicken, capers, and pasta. But he said he did enjoy it. Service was slow and we did hear the next table have some complaints and their bill was comped. We did wait a bit between each course and for the server to appear for the bill. Overall, Odyssey restaurant was ok. The vibe is very cool as it is a converted home.

There are a bunch of different places to check out inside, so everyone can grab exactly what they want and still sit together. Today, I specifically visited Call Your Mother, a Jewish deli, and Izzio Bakery. Atmosphere: Since I went right around the time they opened, the atmosphere was exactly what I needed. It was super laid-back and chill, making it the perfect place to get out of the house for a calm morning. As it gets later into the day and through the weekends, I know it gets very busy, but there is plenty of random seating throughout the hall and even some outdoor spots if you prefer. Parking: Parking is going to be street parking. Make sure you read the signs, but it is usually free. Even when the market is busy, I usually don't have to walk more than a block to get inside. So it is a very convenient location for the RiNo area. Service: The customer service throughout the market is great. At Call Your Mother, the cashier was very sweet, and they even text you when your food is ready. Over at Izzio Bakery, everyone is super kind and helpful while you're looking at their amazing pastry display. Even with a line, you're usually only waiting about 10 to 12 minutes for your items. Food: The food variety here is incredible. I tried the Sun City breakfast bagel sandwich from Call Your Mother and the hot honey was the perfect balance of sweet and spice on a toasted bagel. For a sweet treat, I went to Izzio Bakery for the Dulce de Leche Queen. The pastry case there looks like something out of a movie. The pastry itself was perfectly crisp on the outside with a delicious yellow vanilla cream and cinnamon on the inside. Overall Experience: Overall, I really enjoy coming here and trying new places. It is a fantastic destination for groups or just a solo morning out. Whether you want a savory breakfast bagel sandwich or a beautiful pastry, The Denver Central Market always hits the spot. I'll definitely be back to explore more.

Apparently, my mums joke about "filling it to the top" went right over this guys head because he decided to be flat out rude to us after dropping apps even going as far as to mock me saying "tHaNk YoU" in a condescending, nasty way & then throwing a serving spoon down...WOAH. Who knows if he was conversing with his coworker about our table specifically but all 3 of us heard him talking about "just non industry people" which is soooo comical because my husband was a chef for 14 years but go off, fam! Not to mention I worked FOH in Las Vegas for a decade. & look guys, I know what you're gonna say! Well, you do it yourself then if you can do it better & do you know what?! We usually do haha but this place is sentimental for my mother who was happy to go because it reminded her of her late husband (my dad, who passed 3 years ago). The crazy part that's worth writing is I think us humans have forgotten that everyone is struggling with this & that & we are all just trying our best to get by. This used to be my favorite part about working in a restaurant: giving your guest a POSITIVE, UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE to escape life's struggles. Somewhere where you can go & spend your hard earned dollars & FEEL GOOD ABOUT IT but also to forget said struggles of your day or even your life! Antywayssss, 3 years later, no way this restaurant is being recommended for a Michelin Star nowadays. Go somewhere else for housemade pasta.
