They fixed one computer well so I took in my next computer and...sadly it was nothing but problems. Poor service from the outset...too casual with the information, too many different people helping me and then: "The part we need is back ordered" "The part we need was shipped to the wrong facility" Ten days goes past. I call. "What is your name? Let me check...Uhm...when did you bring it in? Do you have a receipt for that?" It's "fixed" my wife picks it up and brings it home and operating system is not updated, just the memory. (I asked for two things btw. More memory and an operating system update) I bring it back. They are nice and apologetic. I leave the computer with them. When I get the operating system has been updated. However... I can't update Chrome and my MICROSOFT FUCKING OFFICE SOFTWARE wants me to enter the purchase code authorization. Do you have that? I don't have that shit! Are you kidding me? The kicker: I go to their website to send an email asking about next steps... AND THE GODDAMN COMPUTER REPAIR STORE HAS NO EMAIL ADDRESS TO CONTACT THEM. Seriously. read more

I live in Cerritos and I drove all the way here just to get my late 2013 Macbook Pro Retina repaired since my display had stopped working after I had the Apple Store in Cerritos replace my battery. I told them that I had some trouble with the Apple Store in Cerritos and that I suspected that they had damaged my Macbook and wanted to charge me an "arm" to get it fixed (which they would not take responsibility for). Dropped off my laptop and they told me that they would have it ready for me by next week on Thursday. The following Wednesday I get a call from them telling me that my Macbook was fixed and that I was not going to be charged for anything. They managed to get it covered under warranty. Wow! Now how is it possible that Di-No Computers has better customer service than an Apple Store? Di-No Computers have been around for many years. I always knew about them since my previous employer would always get repairs done by Di-No. This store serves as a benchmark for customer service and quality repairs. Love this company. I didn't even walk into their store but the associate who picked up my call was super helpful. He offered to look up the model and research warranty care with a serial number I provided and basically guided me on how I could get my iPad repaired through Apple. The screen shattered and wouldn't power on so they didn't offer screen replacement for this model. I didn't have to go through the extra length of spending 10 minutes on the phone with me even though I would not be servicing my product at their store. I shattered and broke my iPhone awhile ago and I first took it to the Apple store in hopes of them being able to recover my data and pictures (since I hadn't backed up my phone in a long time, which was completely my fault). The Apple store ran diagnostics on my phone but told me they couldn't do anything about it because they didn't want to be liable for data loss, and they recommended me to Di-No computers in Pasadena. Dmitri was the technician that restored the data, and was able to successfully transfer all of it into my new iPhone for $35! He even said he'd restored data from phones that were run over by cars. Spilled some liquid on my MacBook Pro and really could not justify spending $600 for a liquid damage fix. They opened it up, inspected it and verified that there was no damage, then cleaned up my keyboard to get rid of the sticky keys and voila! It was back to near perfect and enough for me to live with. Hallelujah! Thank the heavens for Mylan!! Although my poor Henry was not in a condition to be fully saved, Mylan did what he could to save him. And he even made him better!! :) Something had happened to my 2013 Macbook Pro where it would not turn on past the loading screen. When I had tried to safe reboot it, it came up with these "Error" notices and I immediately panicked! I had made an appointment immediately at the Genius Bar at Apple, with the hopes it was just me being retarded and nothing wrong with my poor Henry.. Fast forward to me tearing up and punching myself mentally, I found out that my poor hard drive crapped out and D I E D. It would be $190 & a 7 day wait for Apple to order and install my new 1 TB hard drive.. A friend of mine came to my rescue when she recommended good ol Mylan! Within minutes of meeting Mylan, I already felt assured that Henry would be ok. 5 Business days passed and Mylan had my beloved Henry, good as NEW! He even had all the programs I had back on there. He walked me through the process he took Henry and what was different. This was the BEST $200 I've ever invested. My Macbook is running better than when I took it out of the package. I haven't had the need to repair either of my dual G5 or PowerBook (knock on wood), but before I had purchased my PowerBook elsewhere, I tried inquiring Di-No about any PowerBooks on stock. I called them twice, both times left a message, and never heard back from them. The only reason I considered them was because my friend (who used to work there), recommended their "supposed" good service and price, but sadly, neither could be found. Having later told about the experience, my friend said it was most likely one of the sales staffers that would only give you the time of day if you were a hot-looking asian female. What a shame. Recently took my iMac in for repair and was told it would cost more to repair than replace. That alone is not a big deal, but had a difficult time finding out the problem with the computer - was told different things by different people. Kinda of frustrating. Then in negotiating a replacement iMac they really didn't do a good job of telling me the difference between the model I had, which was 6 yrs old and the new one. I am not a Mac expert by any stretch of the imagination and I found Di-No's service and customer assistance to be noticeably changed from the last business I had with them in their previous location. I am disappointed that today I found out that the new iMac has no built in cd drive. I may be the last person on the planet to know this detail but I depend on experts to inform me so I can be a smart shopper. I guess I will think twice before returning - too bad. read more

Di-No gets mixed reviews from me, and as a die-hard fan of all things Mac, it breaks my heart to have to give them a mere three stars. On the repair side, they are the best thing going in this area. For the few times I've had a problem with my laptops, they've been polite, spot-on in their diagnosis, and prompt with getting me out the door, laptop humming all the way home. But on the sales side...? Twice I've gone there ready to make a laptop purchase and twice I've walked out empty-handed, except for when I needed a battery for my older PowerBook. The sales staff seemed preoccupied (by what I don't know as there were only a few other people in the store), and when I approached one to ask a few questions, I got the impression that I was somehow bothering him. If you are looking for older Mac parts or some third-party hardware, Di-No is a good place to go. Prices seem reasonable. I would recommend them for this service. I cannot offer any opinion on their repair service, but it seems most people on Yelp do like them for that. I have had several interactions with Di-No's service department and they have always been nice and for the most part knowledgeable. I give them 3 1/2 stars. However. And this is a BIG HOWEVER... I found the sales staff to be the worst I have ever experienced (even worse than Fry's). Like one reviewer here noted, The sales staff seemed preoccupied (with what? Who knows?). The entire vibe in the store was seedy. The man who "helped" me was constantly looking around and acted as if I was wasting his time. I am a longtime professional Mac user. And by longtime, I am talking 18+ years of daily experience in the digital arts field with advanced degrees. I was treated like an ignorant high school student. The salesman's information or "facts" about some of the technical questions I asked him were wrong or misleading at best. He seemed more than happy to have me walk away. Too bad. they lost about a $4,000 sale. I give them ZERO stars. When I left the store and drove past, I saw him standing outside the store looking around... for what? WHO KNOWS?! A-OK! 2007 Apple Macbook Pro (First Intel Processor in a MAC) Wanted to switch out the original 120GB Hard Drive for a Bigger Size. Labor is $20 for switching out the hard drives and installing the OS. Complete Cloning service is $120 to make it just like you had it. 500GB Hard Drive is $139 + tax. 1TB Hard Drive is $179 + tax. Seems like if you're paying the same price for the service labor, might as well pay a little more and get twice the size hard drive, so in the end it comes out to be $299 + tax. Not too shabby, considering now I didnt feel compelled to spend 3 grand on another 17" Macbook Pro. Found out prices arn't that great though, since Alice Computer's in San Gabriel (just a few miles south) charges less. Hopefully you get what you pay for, i.e. higher quality hard drive?! read more

Di-No has to be some of the coolest people out there in this business world. I have a mac book that had a faulty logic board and this is what happened.... Took it to apple and they said "sorry, you're fucked. Give us $300." Melrose Mac said(for $50) " Sorry, you're fucked. Give us $419 and we'll send it to apple so they can fix it." In both situations my data was most likely going to be lost because I wasn't going to give Melrose $150 to transfer my data on to a drive temporarily and apple, for some odd reason, was insisting that they were most likely going to wipe out the drive. Di-No "You're computer qualifies for a repair covered by apple due to a quality issue with the NVIDIA logic boards. We'll swap the hard drive with a dummy drive so you don't lose your data, send it to apple and let you know when it's ready." I PAID THEM NOTHING. I'm still in awe. read more

Oh oh. Our MacBook was getting old and prone to crashing when it happened. We went to turn it on Wednesday morning and it pretty much thought we were kidding. Nothing. What to do? Let's see. A stop at the Apple Store for a new MacBook Air and a FireWire. Three or four attempts and starting the old computer up in safe mode and yet we couldn't transfer the old files. A second trip to the Apple Store (very helpful, honest and knowledgeable -- as usual) and he gave us a list of the local Mac repair shops. It was a rainy Thursday afternoon and we drove over to Di-No because of the positive Yelp ratings. A short wait in a shop that looks a bit like a second-rate Apple store and frankly I had my doubts. Well, the service writer (?) listened to our tale of woe. We desperately needed the data and quickly. He asked us to wait while George or one of the techs could look at it and tell us the status along with a range of estimates from $75. for the inspection/diagnosis on up to about $250 for the additional possible work. Less than 15 minutes later Mylan came out and asked what files we needed. He also asked if we had a drive to back the file up to. We sheepishly handed him our brand new MacBook Air. Mylan returned to the back and we waited like nervous family in a hospital waiting room. Did I say that Mylan was able to download all of the data that we thought was totally corrupted? Did I mention that he took the time to load all of these necessary files onto his own external hard drive that he then loaded successfully onto our new Mac? How about the total charge of $75.? We were so grateful that Lisa almost cried, we promised never ever to run our computers without frequent backups and we bought a Rikiki 1TB external hard drive. If you are looking for fast top-quality work at a very, very reasonable price, look no further. Di-No Computer did a fantastic job on repairing my 5-year-old MacBook Pro, installing an SSD, transferring all programs and data to the new drive, and setting up the time-machine with a complete initial back-up. I initially took my MacBook to the Genious Bar in the Pasadena Apple Store and requested to do the above tasks and was told that they can not guarantee full data recovery since my time-machine was not up-to-date and, due to Apple policy, they can only replace the hard drive with the exact same drive that was in it. Furthermore, they told me that it will take at least 24-hours to run diagnostic to find out the problem and call me back to let me know the cost of repair. They also told me that if they replace a new hard drive only the data files and Apple software can be transferred and not the third-party software that was on the old hard drive. They also told me that it would take at least one week to complete the job. This was not acceptable. A friend recommended me to try Di-No Computers in Pasadena. I took it in on Saturday afternoon and Jordan, the technician on site, was able to run diagnostic right in front of me and told me exactly what my problems were. Jordan was very honest and told me that my original hard drive was not damaged and it was only the wires that were damaged. But I wanted a new solid-state drive instead. He said they have the SSD in stock and he can do it for me and transfer EVERYTHING that was on my old hard drive to the new drive. Everything was done by Monday afternoon.
