My wife and I assumed that it would be a great meal because of its association with big cedar. However we could not have been more wrong. We had the strip steak and it was the worst steak that we have ever eaten. As a matter of fact much of the meal was not eaten. It was very tough and tasteless. The mashed potatoes were also very bland. There were no seasoning on anything. It was an very expensive disappointment. The only good thing about the meal was the very nice waitress. We had a great meal there tonight. Pros: the food was delicious and the server and hostesses were friendly and well versed in the menu. It was super filling and very flavorful. We service is excellent and so is the view. They have a nice drink selection and wine list with some local wines. If you order the pulled pork nachos, be sure you have help eating it as it is huge and delicious. Everything from the bread basket to the mashed potatoes were delicious. Our group had the baked chicken, bison meatloaf, pork, and prime rib and everyone was satisfied. Highly recommend this place. Save a piece of bread to feed the fish at the end of the dock. read more

Stopped here for breakfast on a Thursday during COVID. The views were amazing, but that was about it. The food wasn't bad, but nothing exceptional - and looking at the prices it was very disappointing. Average breakfast is about $15, kids meals are $7, any sides to go with are another $7 (got 2 pieces of bacon for $7!). The service was pretty bad though. Not busy at all so you would expect them to be a little more attentive. I didn't get asked for a drink refill until I finished my food, and we asked for an extra plate when we ordered. Asked for the plate again when the meal was served. Asked a third time when we saw the girl who brought us our food (not the waitress) and she told us the kitchen said they would bring it and she had to clean a table (not being busy I would expect the customers with food would be more important than getting a table clean for no one to sit at). That was the last time we asked for a plate, and it never came. Certainly would not go back to the restaurant, but the view is nice and would be a cool pool to hang out in with a couple of drinks. read more

I really hate to give this restaurant a bad rating because the staff and the atmosphere were absolutely outstanding, but management needs to sample their Tuesday night menu. I am hoping that the chef had the evening off since our meals were so bad. Maybe the Tuesday cook is the store accountant certainly not a cook. As an example, my wife had the beef tips; they were too tough to chew and totally tasteless. They had a texture like a slab of meat cooked on the stovetop, stored in the frig for a week then cubed and placed in gravy. We won't even talk about the over seasoned blackened catfish and crawfish. As a conciliation the free chocolate sundae was the best I have ever had. We complained not to get anything free, but to give management a chance to improve the food. read more

We came up for the 4th of July and I was a little concerned after reading some of the recent reviews because we have always had good times and food when we visit. We had a group of 8 and we arrived early before our reservation. We went down to the Buzzard Bar and after our first drink we had our table which was 15 minutes early. My wife had the Caesar salad and I had the pecan and goat cheese with poppy seed dressing and they were really good. We both ordered the smoked Prime rib and it was some of the best we have ever had and it was perfectly cooked (med rare). The au jus was a little bland but the horseradish was tangy. My wife's loaded potato was tasty and the only negative I have was the poached carrots. Our service was incredible as the waitress and her trainee were funny, attentive and fast. We went outside to enjoy the fireworks and that was the ending to a great night with family and friends. We will be back. Yes it is a little pricey but come on you're at a friggin resort! read more

We visited Devil's Pool yesterday for brunch. It was quite busy and told it would be a 30 minute wait. While waiting, we observed the hostesses deal with 2 different groups (18 in one) that arrived and said they had reservations. The restaurant doesn't take reservations, but Denise handled the situation professionally and was able to accommodate everyone's needs. Brunch was good, highlights being the biscuits/gravy and the omelet station. Meal was good, service was outstanding. read more

Their breakfast buffet is simply our favorite breakfast anywhere, period. We live in Pennsylvania and whenever we're in Branson we make this a priority stop whether staying at Big Cedar or not. In particular their waffles, bacon and the custom omelettes are the best we've ever had and the authentic whipped cream is a great bonus. Besides the incredible food the service is top notch and the property stunning to walk around and take in, even if you only came to eat. Totally worth the price. read more

Had a great weekend at Big Cedar. Everything was fantastic except the dinner on Saturday night. Everything about is was horrible. Worst prime rib ever, worst service ever, and the manager was totally out of her league. They hire interns from other countries without proper training and no one is in charge. There were at least 10 other tables grumbling and one table of 6 just got up and left. You would expect the management to have this figured out but they are clueless. Do yourself a favor and go eat at the top of the rock its far better than the Devils Pool read more

We dined at this restaurant tonight during our family vacation and waited for over an hour and a half for our food. We had 2 children under 2 years old with us. When we spoke to the manager to let her know we were leaving since we'd been there for 1.5 hours and it was past bedtime, she assured us food was coming out soon. We waited about another 20 minutes, at which point lukewarm and pretty mediocre food came out. We asked for items to be comped, and the manager said "well you're eating them." I won't be coming back to this restaurant and would highly advise others to avoid it! I was really disappointed as we've had a good experience at this restaurant a couple of years ago and have had positive experiences with other Big Cedar Lodge activities. I do understand short staffing issues, but the lack of acknowledgement and accountability from management was extremely frustrating. The food was actually really good. The service was kind of bad which is the reason for the 3 stars. We waited for like 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. Mind you we had just arrived at Big Cedar and were exhausted from driving. And of course hungry. So after a 10 min wait a lady finally acknowledged us. She told us another server would be helping us. Ok.... so 5 mins later our server came and we saw her maybe twice the entire time. But as I stated, the food was delish no complaints there. Maybe just pay more attention to greeting guests more timely and checking on them !! :) read more

This place has so much potential but sadly after 3 experiences I am still not impressed. Last year: I ordered the deep fried ribeye steak on my first experience and it was atrocious. The meat was rubber like, thin as a pancake and flavorless. I felt dumb for ordering it. It came with some awesome greens and a big pile of fries. I told the manager what I just typed and he was very nice and removed it from my bill and I ordered the club sandwhich instead. It took way too long to get, but it was worth it. Their club sandwich was to die for. About 4-5 inches thick with bacon , ham, turkey, cheese and veggies. I was also given a drink of my choice on the house. That was very thoughtful and I loved my grey goose and sprite. This spring: everything was top notch on this experience, but I got a cheeseburger and fries and beer. It's pretty hard to screw that up! This last weekend: We went again as a family to the Devil's Pool Resturaunt on Saturday 8/28/10 and again I wasn't impressed. I played it safe and got the club sandwhich (yum) and a house salad. The house salad was about 5 leaves of greens and nothing else. It sucked. My wife got a dinner salad with ranch and their veggie soup. She ordered her salad with ranch, cheese and tomatoes only. She got pecans, onions, house dressing and crutons on it. The waitress ignored our plea for a new salad so we just made do. The "vegetable" soup seemed to be uncooked onions, spinach and green beans in a nasty salt water like broth. All of us that tried it almost got sick after tasting it. Sadly our waitress never really came around until she needed money so our cups sat empty and we didn't get a chance to complain. So we just cut our losses and left. I was miserable about the deal. How can facility as nice as Big Cedar Lodge have a restaurant with such a horrid menu. There wasn't even a good steak, chicken or fish option!!!!!! The only thing good at this place is the appitizers, burgers and club sandwhich (everything the buzzard bar sells). Stay away from dinner menu items until further notice. Lol Just go to the buzzard bar, Worman House or the BBQ place at the gas station up the road if you want a good dinner. Devil's pool gets a "D" for disaster from me. read more

If you want to step up a few notches, then walk down the hill to the Worman House. No disappointment there -- but double the price - although worth it. We had a really disappointing experience here on Father's Day Sunday. $60 a person for a BBQ brunch menu that didn't seem interesting at all, given what Big Cedar is supposed to be. Didn't even include a drink option. We asked to go downstairs to sit and order from the normal menu. The only positive was Linda, our very kind and gracious server upstairs. We went downstairs, almost every table was dirty, and it looked very understaffed. We waited for about 15 minutes with no attention from the staff. No tables were cleared during the time we were there (we could see at least 4 around us). The few staff members who were there seemed to be working hard, but we noticed nobody who had been there prior to us had even been able to place their order yet. No telling how long it would take to actually get food. We ended up walking out and going to eat at a different restaurant in town. We've been coming to Big Cedar for 25 years as a family. This was a huge disappointment. I hope this was a one-off experience. We miss the days of the Worman House experience. BC is such a great resort, I hope this isn't what the dining experience is like now. read more

The place is definitely a lodge with a cool atmosphere and lots of animals. Our server seemed a bit nervous by our large group but overall did fine. The food was good but nothing that blew us away. The best part of the meal was the dessert. I had the devils pool sundae and that was amazing. Definitely large enough to share. read more

After a long morning, touring Top of the Rocks beautiful landscape our party had worked up a hefty appetite and were really looking forward to a delicious lunch at Big Cedar Lodge's Devils pool restaraunt...unfortunately that is not what we got. Now I have heard that they have a wonderful buffet for $22 but we wanted to order from the menu...BIG mistake! We ordered sliders that came with homemade sweet potato chips...we asked before we ordered "Are they home made and fresh?" And we were told yes...they were NOT fresh. Instead they were cold and rubbery. Our slider order was messed up and the meat on each slider tasted dry and old. We also ordered a french dip sandwich...it was tough dry and had no flavor...aujue dip tasted like warm water, again no flavor...really the bogie bun was the old thing edible. Then there was the Cobb salad with old blue cheese crumbles and a $7 piece of chicken. The lettuce was warm as well as the dressing provided...but at least the chicken was decent. On a positive note we had a very nice & gracious waiter who brought me a side of mashed potatoes from the food bar to feed my 10month old son...those were actually really good! Overall a thuroughly dissapointing experience. read more
