DO NOT RECOMMEND…read more The shop was recently sold and operates under newer ownership, though it continues to operate under the Budd & Company name. I brought my car in for overheating issues. A couple hours later I got a message with an estimate for $3k. They called right away, and I tried to decline some items like spark plugs but was told I would need to do them due to the nature of the repair even though the tech mentioned them as maintenance items. I would highly recommend to not approve ANYTHING with them on the phone and ask for a written estimate. Make sure to take screenshots because they hide estimates after you approve them. Also check what the inspection report says rather than the person on the phone trying to upsale you. They promised car same day but it wasn't ready until 2 days later. When I got the car back, something their own inspection report flagged as needing replacement due to oil residue was not replaced (Coolant Reservoir). Look at image below. IMO if you are going to charge $3k to do a bunch of work on the cooling system and coolant you should at least replace a $20 part (Or at the very least clean it) otherwise it will re-contaminate the cooling system all over again. A part they flagged as leaking and paid to fix, is just leaking again. I called 10 mins after I got the car back and they said it was fine. I kept mentioning my road trip to Vegas and they kept clearing me to drive out there. A week later my car overheated again. It was misdiagnosed, the whole time it was the radiator fan that failed, so the $3K of work was unnecessary. I'd also look at other public reviews including SureCritic and BBB Listings.

I received a grand total including tax and misc. fees. I called before approving the final total and the staff confirmed that invoice would be my *final* total and the document I signed was not an estimate. I was told no work is done without approval. So I e-signed the invoice as a binding agreement. Later I received an updated invoice, with an additional 90+ dollars. I called and was told that the mechanic "un-declined" services for me. I was calm and respectful and requested clarification. The mechanic I was handed to accused me of trying to make him work for free. I expressed to him that I had been told I had the final total, and I would not have been able to agree to if it had been any more expensive than I was quoted. He was very frustrated with me and told me he should have charged me $270 more, and I should be grateful he gave me a discount. I do not understand how I went from receiving "transparent" pricing which I confirmed, to being accused of being a malicious person. I was not rude and I do not know what I could have done differently to have gotten the information I needed to make an informed decision. For those reading the response, I have an invoice with a final total that shows I did not approve the $270 repair. I edited my review because the owner responded with a lie. Notice there was not an apology for the way I was spoken to, just the owners dismay at my having pointed it out. I spoke with an associate on the phone to confirm my total. I was then charged for something I can prove I declined. I won't worry about proving it to Yelp, I'll be filing the appropriate reports to governing bodies. I have copies of all three invoices. I had hoped it was a mistake but it doesn't seem that way.
