I've had some horrible experiences as a woman, more importantly a woman of color... at auto shops. It was hard to have to only show up as a masculine woman to get some type of respect. I'm a cisgender straight woman that worked in the petroleum industry for eight years so I know misogyny but I taught myself how to do some basic maintenance on my cars so I don't typically present as the helpless damsel PLUS I've been lucky enough to be referred to some pretty reliable small shops. I've still been wanting to take my car to RR for a very long while. I knew I was going to be driving my "new" 2010 car across the state and wanted to make sure I felt safe to do so - I wasn't disappointed. From start to finish they were professional and cool. I booked my appointment way in advance to be safe and they suggested a comprehensive service that was exactly what I needed for a reasonable price. They asked me if I preferred text or email, pronouns, etc. and I got a really helpful reminder text a few days before. I dropped my car off that morning before work with their drop box option (my lyft was late and I happened to see how thoroughly they disinfected my car and the box before they got in.) I had just dropped my entire set of keys and they immediately texted me to see if I needed the set to my house, just in case. Thoughtful much? From start to finish they recorded EVERYTHING electronically and with photographs and I got my full report really quickly. Two of the most urgent needs for my car were engine and cabin air filters (they sounded almost stoked when I told them would be able to do this myself?!) and the third was an oil change and a build up of carbon (I suppose that can happen when you have less than 60k miles on a ten year old car.) The BG engine performance oil change wasn't a cheap service but it was extensive and has a lifetime protection plan so I felt that it was well worth the peace of mind. Ultimately, I was able to pick it up in the afternoon after work (again, they cleaned everything they may have touched.) I am 100% all about their mission (can't wait for a maintenance class some day) and will look forward to taking my girl Blue there when/if necessary in the future. Thanks, folx! read more

Updating from 1 to 3 stars based on RR calling me, understanding my frustration, and explaining their policies further. So didnt have a great experience up front, but a 1 star review was likely not justified. Paid thousands of dollars for repairs that helped my car run properly. Three months later, same exact issue occurs, car stops running. They offered to check the work done last time and if there weren't any issues, perform a new diagnostic for $150. Would much rather pay for a second opinion somewhere else than pay again at the place that couldn't fully fix it the first time. I'm disappointed I was not immediately offered at least a free diagnostic given the recency and cost of my last visit and the same exact symptoms occurring. read more

My 2005 Jeep with 190,000 miles on it needed some love after throwing a cylinder misfire error. Other shops had told me they couldn't figure out the issue, but also couldn't tell me what I should do next to solve it, so I was frustrated and out about $300. When I finally found RR I was so happy to have a shop that seemed to actually care about my car and my wallet. After the FREE 12-point inspection, I came in and they actually took me back into the shop to show me various things about the engine. They had found a possible cause of the problem (a broken vacuum hose) that every other shop had missed and recommended fixing that as a first step. They also pointed out a few things they recommended to take care of that none of the other shops even had on their radar (like a dying battery and some putrid break fluid). All in all, whether or not the Jeep makes it to 200,000 miles, I'll be taking whatever car I own to this shop, and this shop only from now on. read more

So, I tried to fix my own car. After a long week of trial and error, I ended up thinking I had made things worse and went to Repair Revolution. I was definitely embarrassed about heading into a shop where I'd have to explain to a professional mechanic that I was that person. Instead, Gabe sat and listened to me explain what was happening with my car, making sure that they understood everything before moving forward, and actually encouraging me on all the work I'd already done. In a surprising turn of events, Gabe went and got a version of the part I was struggling with, and showed me how to finish the job! They said they could make an appointment for me later in the week, but believed I could do the job myself, and not have to wait (or pay the big bucks for what would likely have been seconds of work). The best experience I have ever had at an Auto shop. I was able to drop my car off after hours to get worked on the next morning, and pick it up after hours when service was done. Super helpful when my only ride there works long hours, and I am trying to avoid public transportation because I am pregnant and COVID etc. They emailed me a breakdown of their findings with pictures and videos the same afternoon, and even prioritized their recommendations. They also included prices and very detailed descriptions. When I called to discuss cost of labor vs parts, they were very honest and transparent. They were able to do all repairs same day! First car was a real doozy. After the inspection they hooked me up with the information that I needed in order to donate the vehicle, and held the truck at the shop for a few days until I could get a tow for it-- for that I am grateful. I've been taking my car to Eli and his crew at RR for over a year now to get help with my new (but used) car and to have questions answered. Eli not only fixes problems, but shows me how to be self-sufficient by helping me learn how to do minor things on my own. In fact, I am typing this review from my car just after replenishing the oil myself. This may sound like no big thing, but all my life, men have assumed I was not capable of doing something so simple on my own or that I would do something wrong. (Not so anymore!) This is the first time that I've been to an automotive shop where I felt completely comfortable with the mechanics and really felt like they were being totally upfront about what needed to be done on my car. They send you an e-mail report with details on what they found and they even include educational links on different aspects of the car's components. Two months ago I got my brakes replaced by a chain store and I was told that I needed my front brakes replaced in a couple of months. I wanted to go to Repair Revolution for the next visit because I heard they were great and wanted to support local business but I figured that I would end up paying more because it's hard to compete with a chain. Turns out I also needed an oil change today, and I was delighted to find out that my bill for both of these services was over $100 less than the chain wanted for the brake change alone. Awesome! I think I found my new mechanic! I will definitely be coming back for my future maintenance and repair needs after my experience here. You don't get customer service and peace of mind, like this anymore. It is always stressful finding mechanics, and finding one you think is honest. I took my 2000 Subaru Outback to Repair Revolution after hearing a knocking noise in my left rear tire after a wheel bearing replacement from another shop, as both shops were covered with a Napa Certification. What a difference that certification and warranty makes! Repair revolution diagnosed the problem (ill-fitting brake shoes), and gave me advice about how to fix it. I was surprised, and delighted, that they did not even charge me for the check, as they had removed the wheel, checked the bearing, and had driven the car around at least three times to try to replicate the noise (which they finally heard). The wheel bearing had been replaced at another shop in Seattle the previous month and went bad when I was on a trip to Mt. Rainier. (their warranty was voided since I went to another shop - I'm hoping that they will give me some money back). I had it towed to a shop I found through AAA near Mt. Rainier, and they replaced the wheel bearing. I drove back up to Seattle, but later that week noticed a knocking noise. I found Repair Revolution on the list of Napa Certified Auto Repair, and dropped the car off to ask them to look at it. They found the issue with the brake shoes, but also let me know that the wheel bearing (which can be a problem with Subarus) was fine, and that the car was safe to drive. I had been VERY stressed as I had put a lot of money into the car previously to replace the wheel bearing. When I went to pay, they didn't charge me, and told me it was part of the service. The Napa Warranty (which covers 2 years and 24K miles) gives me such great peace of mind - you can go to any certified shop nationwide and have it repaired. I am so glad to have found Repair Revolution through the warranty certification, and definitely will recommend them. That warranty, and customer service, makes a huge difference. What also stood out to me was the cleanliness yet "busy-ness" of the shop, the nice waiting area, and the positive feeling within it. I also didn't have to struggle to find parking to get my car looked at here, which I've found can be an issue with other shops. read more

I have read through the reviews on Repair Revolution and find much of it to be accurate. I was a frequent customer for about a year at Repair Revolution. The mechanics are nice to talk to and it seems to be a very relaxed environment. However, the environment may in fact be to relaxed. Perhaps its just a couple of the mechanics, because I had my car serviced there a couple times and I thought I had received great service. However, the last time I came in with an issue of a loud car engine. Obviously, i knew it was some sort of issue with the exhaust. I had issues with this before with holes in my flex pipe. With any hole in your flex pipe your car sounds like a lawnmower... I had this same issue fixed before at different auto shops and they welded the holes fixing the problem. As it turns out the mechanics at Repair Revolution found a few holes in my Flex Pipe. I asked if they could just go ahead and re-weld it like previous mechanics had done before. However, this time I was told that the whole flex pipe was trash and that the whole caddilidic converter would need to be replaced. The cad is attached to the flex pipe and regulates gas emissions and is an expensive 600 dollar plus replacement. I figured well maybe after all these patch jobs the pipe really was toast. However, I just was distraught that they just couldn't replace just the flex pipe itself. I asked if it would be worth it to just replace the entire cad which includes the new flex pipe and they told me to just drive it as is. This made sense to me because honestly its just a cosmetic issue that my car sounded like a lawnmower. I drove around with my car sounding like crap for months, thinking that my only option was to just buy an entire new cad. I don't know about you, but I hate driving around with my car sounding like crap. Its embarrassing and people thing your car is just gonna fall apart right at the stop light. So one day I finally decided to go to a different shop. I really went there for an oil change, but also mentioned my flex pipe issue. When I told him about the flex pipe issue he was shocked. He told me that it would be minimal cost to replace the flex pipe, and he did it in less than an hour. He educated me more about the cad and how you can even get rid of the flex pipe and just put in a regular exhaust pipe. That the flex pipe just comes standard like that on most cars, but is easily replaced. This new shop I go to is amazing and honestly I just know they know what there talking about, because they are very passionate about mechanics. All my results from going to this new shop have been excellent. I am somewhat convinced after this whole ordeal that Repair Revolution Mechanics may be hit or miss or completely miss. I have gone to Repair Revolutions before with reoccurring issues with things I have had them work on. At this point I believe they may have just been trying to get me to buy a new Cad just to make extra money. In conclusion I would not recommend going there. In my mind now I see them as somewhat sketchy and as if they really don't care that much about their customers. I think they put a little bit of an act on and also they have quite a few under par mechanics employed there. I also believe that maybe there "technique" is more about fixing a problem on the whole. Let me explain... I consider myself to be somewhat mechanically inclined after having dealt with a variety of car issues as an owner and an expert bike mechanic. I believe that Repair Revolutions mechanics are mediocre at best. I think this causes them to only fix issues as a whole like replacing a caddilidic converter, instead of looking into it more and maybe making smaller repairs to a system. This also would be they way to go to make more money of course.. *** I would recommend going to Salmon Auto Centers. There are a few around North Seattle and they are the best mechanics I have ever been to. They seem completely honest. They actually take you into their shop and under the hood of your own car to show you an issue. They also provide you with several options and seem to be outside the box thinkers when it comes to auto mechanics. There shops are small and they usually own the gas station that is connected to it. However, you will not be disappointed with going there. read more

I bought a 98 Subaru Forester knowing that it would need some work right off the bat (problems with the alternator, if I recall correctly). When I took it in to Repair Revolution, Eli helped me prioritize the level of urgency for needed repairs (I didn't have the budget to fix everything right away). I found the service friendly, prompt, and thorough--he even discovered and fixed some things that had been poorly fixed in the past. A big part of what makes me feel confident in trusting this shop is that everything was gone over in detail, even pointing things out to me so that I could see what the problem was or what had been done. After the initial repairs, my car ran smoothly and has continued to do so. The only reason I don't still take my car there regularly is that I moved out of town. But I do plan to take it there for a tune-up before I move out of state! Cars can be complicated, tricky beasts and sometimes even the most thorough, competent mechanic can't foresee what will happen when the car leaves the shop. But I can safely say that no other mechanic has my trust the way the folks at Repair Revolution do, and it's been hard to find a quality, trustworthy replacement in Olympia. read more
