Brought in my 2004 Mercedes C230 because of battery alternator warning. They replaced battery and said alternator was fine. Drove car home. Next day the warning comes back on. Take car in for a further review. They find nothing. Warning continues to come on and off. Effecting side mirrors etc. Called them and explained what had been happening. I went to Precision Motorworks to have some work done on my pristine, 30 year old, original owner 2-door BMW M3 coupe... after a very, very bad experience at the BMW dealer I've trusted for service for as long as I owned the car (and two other BMWs we've purchased there). The dealer charged me massive $$$ and the car left the shop after a week... worse off than it went in. Off I went in search of honest, competent, cost-effective auto repair. Precision had good reviews here, so I gave them a ring. The reviews are for real. These guys are AMAZING. The central locking system in my car had gone missing... and I'd been locked in and out of the car often enough to know that for a fact. I also wanted to replace the driveshaft flex disc, which had started to develop a few cracks. The dealer first claimed the locks were working -- of course they weren't, not when I brought the car to them, not when I drove it home. So the dealer suggested I might need to replace one or both locks: $850 each for parts, plenty more for labor to open up the doors and button them up again. The dealer wanted $1650 to replace the flex disc. They also quoted $1100 to replace the coolant level sensor... which worked just fine after I bled an air pocket out of the cooling system -- a task the dealer failed to bother with after doing a cooling system flush and refill. Precision turned out to be a breath of fresh air. They found and fixed my locking system problem... an open circuit caused by a crimped wire running from the trunk lock to the doors. They replaced the flex disc as well... total cost for both jobs was $630 plus tax. THOUSANDS of dollars less than I easily might have dumped at the dealer. I dropped the car off at Precision at 10 a.m. Precision called about five hours later to say they were done. I picked it up the next morning. No muss, no fuss, no sticker shock. Precision is the real deal. No frills, no fancy waiting room, just competent, no BS auto diagnosis and repair. Their lot was full of BMWs and Minis. If you own either (or both, as we do) -- this is the place to go for routine maintenance and to get stuff fixed. Five stars plus. read more

Just wanted to express my thanks to Josh, Anthony, Kevin, and Stephanie for getting me and my Range Rover back on the road. After Land Rover of Lynnwood spent 3 weeks and was unable to correctly diagnose a battery draw issue, Precision Motorworks was able to do so, including the repair, within 3 business days. I even got the choice of a cool Mini Cooper stick-shift as a loaner during that time. Josh handled the scheduling and explanations professionally and without me needing to call first, when other repair shops (Lynwood Land Rover!) usually wait for the customer to call. I brought the car in before the weekend to get it in queue, and it was done by Wednesday afternoon. The issue was in the instrument cluster which needed reprogramming and a software update. It starts up quickly again and runs super smooth, and I couldn't be happier. Highly recommending taking your older-model European cars here when they need to be looked at; the manufacturer dealerships usually have techs that understand only the more recent models. I've lived near this repair shop for nearly 12-years but always chosen to take our two cars - a Mercedes and a Land Rover Discovery to their respective dealership service centers for everything from annual services to engine light troubles. After years of irritation with both places I finally took the Mercedes to Precision and was SHOCKED with the transparency, customer service and most eye opening...the cost. I can't believe I have been screwed for years by the dealership. Most recently, a piece of my door handle on the Discovery came off. After navigating getting the part from Land Rover; the service center told me to book an appt and the estimate to get the part back on would be $100 for labor. I had a weird feeling. I took the part to precision and to see about getting an appointment with them. One of their techs looked at the handle and fixed it within 30 seconds at no charge. I have to highly recommend Precision Motorworks for all of your car repair and maintenance needs. We have a BMW and always are looking for a place that specializes in foreign cars. Because BMW is so particular and specific with parts and whatnot, it's vital to get someone who knows what they're doing. We've found it in Precision Motorworks. I took our 328i there a while back for an oil change and was extremely happy with the service and professionalism I received. They gave me a loaner car for the day that I could borrow while they worked on the car. After getting the call that they were done, they also told me some repairs that were recommended. Trust me when I say that they did not pressure me into having them done. They were straightforward and specific with what the recommendations were and told me how soon they should be done and how much it would cost. I ended up having them do some of the repairs the following week. They involved replacing the brakes and doing a brake fluid flush too. I couldn't have been happier with them. They were honest about what needed to be done and how quickly it should be done . . . accurate with estimated costs . . . and extremely non-pressuring. It was an expensive couple of trips; but hey, when you've got a BMW you know that everything is expensive. The higher costs were really a fact of BMW parts upping the cost and not an overcharge of labor. read more

Got the job done but they delayed return of my vehicle on two separate visits which put me without a car for multiple days, and they did not even offer a loaner. I also got the feeling they did not think I knew my stuff and tried to take advantage of that even though I'm 35 and have been working on my own cars since I was 16. When I received my vehicle after repairing collapsed engine mounts the check coolant light mysteriously popped on. I replaced the coolant expansion tank and the problem was resolved however upon further inspection they left multiple hoses loose or completely unclipped all throughout the vehicle. All of the plastic screws for the air intake duct cover were taken off and not put back so I had to replace them myself. It appears they are pretty knowledgeable about BMW which is cool, but they're customer service is far from top notch and I was completely disappointed with the condition of my engine bay upon return. I asked them how much it would be to install an accessory drive belt kit I had purchased online and they quoted me $350 LOL. I was able to install the belts and idler pulley myself for free in 90 min. They also told me I needed an oil change on my first diagnostic visit not knowing I just had the oil changed the previous week. Also while the pulley did have excessive play, the belts I replaced based on their recommendation were nowhere near the condition explained to me from the diagnosis. read more

They are all extremely nice and get things done incredibly fast for how busy they must be. Haven't had to get a loaner (live downtown) but it's a nice option to have if needed. My BMW 535i starting having misfiring and just shaking and was the worse I've ever seen my car , I was desperately looking for a shop to get my car diagnosed and gave them a call they were able to get me in right away and take a look at my car and they found the issue and gave a me a quote . Honestly the quote they gave me is so much affordable compared to bmw dealership at the time I didn't have the money so I wanted to wait on repairs but they were very kind and quick . As long as I own a Volvo, this is the only local shop I'll take my V70R to. Went there because I suspected my AWD wasn't working....happened to be right. The Volvo technician identified the problem and now since my review, AWD still works like a charm. This place won my business over Daisywagen because I couldn't get scheduled in. Even though the hourly rate I was charged came out to $125/hr., the peace of mind and great customer service that you may experience makes you either is worth the money. This is a great repair facility as they have loaner cars. Mind you, the loaner cars are at no additional cost to you and will get you from A to B no problem. So, don't get upset if you're in a 97' 850 T5 sedan (actually, I love the pre-Ford Volvos, so this was actually fun for me). And as other Yelp reviewers have posted, the service writers talk to you without the high horse podium giving you feeling questioning if you rode the short bus there. Great Volvo repair shop in Seattle. Give them your worst Volvo car problem and I'm certain you'll get honest answers and solutions. Even though this place is located far for some people (I don't live in Seattle, it's truly worth the drive) plus, they don't hassle you about returning their car for yours the moment it's finished. Recommendation: Take a loaner car, bum a ride or walk to Whole Foods up the block, or run an errand or something, there really isn't a waiting room unless you want to stand. read more

A great shop that stands by their work! The first time I went here back in 2017 was because my mini was making a terrible sound. They were able to diagnose the issue, as well as give me good honest advice about what needed to be done to my car. I didn't feel like I was being sold - just that they were looking out for what is best for me and my car. Have been going back to them ever since for regular maintenance (they will top off your oil as needed!) and other items as they arise (eg new brakes). I own a BMW, and have brought it in to this place 3 times so far: 1 was a routine oil change, the other was replacing all brakes, and the third was replacing the CAS module. Let me first say this- their prices here are NOT any cheaper than dealers, although they claim they are. I blindly just brought my car here on all 3 occassions mentioned above without even inquiring with a dealer. Let me give you an example. Their synthetic oil changes here go for $110. If they have to reset your BC system, it's another $50. After tax, you are talking about $170 or so. BMW of Tacoma (or Northwest BMW) will do all of the above for $79.99. Brakes will cost you a few days of waiting for parts, and again, prices that are suspiciously close to or higher than a dealer's price. All that is fine, because they seem to do great work. I haven't had an issue with any of the actual work they did on my car. But the reason I am giving them two stars is this: As another review alluded to, these people will take your car out for "joy rides". I had John, the owner, call me at 3:30PM on the day I got my CAS module replaced. He told me that the work would not be done by end of day, and that they car would need to stay in the shop over night. "Ok" I said. That's when he asked me for a favor that, in retrospect, is completely unprofessional and quite unbelievable. He said that one of his mechanics had asked if he could take my car home to Woodinville for the night, and bring it back in the morning. WHAT?? Did I just hear that right? I told him no. And even made it a point to call back and say I was not comfortable with this. Whether or not this mechanic actually drove my car home to Woodinville that night or not, I will never know. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. But I no longer trust this place... and honestly, given that you can get certified technicians to work on your car at a dealership for the same price or lower, it really begs the question- why would you take your car here? [UPDATE per John's Comment Below 6/5] Understood that a test drive is needed on repairs. Furthermore, it is understood that sometimes, an "extended" test drive is also required. But is it normal practice for a shop to request that one of their mechanics take a customer car HOME, AFTER SHOP HOURS, to a city 20 MILES away? Or rather, would it be more standard procedure to set aside some time the following day for a mechanic to take an "extended" 10 mile test drive, during business hours, while on the clock at the shop? If the term "joy ride" has offended you, then I do apologize. But to label the request you made as standard procedure or simply a request for an "extended test drive" would be misleading and inaccurate. read more

I am relatively new to Seattle and hadn't established a local, independent mechanic for our 2003 Volvo XC90. When my car starting making a really loud grinding noise, I took it to three other shops who all gave me different answers, none of which really added up. I was referred to Precision Motorworks through another independent shop who only works on older Volvos. They were able to get me in as soon as I called, gave me a loaner car so I could get back to work, and inspected my car that afternoon. Turns out I needed a pretty major repair, a bevel gear replacement, which cost about $2800 + tax. I made a couple calls for quotes and the price was the same everywhere. They were able to do the repair the very next day, gave me a loaner car in the meantime, and answered all of my random questions happily. They ended up fixing a vacuum leak they noticed at no additional cost, and put a new gas cap on for free (mine was cracked). Irish, the Service Advisor (with a super cool name and pretty awesome southern accent to go with it) was probably the friendliest, most helpful person I've ever encountered in an auto shop. He spoke at my level, politely answered all of my questions, and most importantly, never treated me like most women in auto shops get treated (like they're idiots). All-in-all: Fair prices, excellent customer service, very speedy turnaround, courtesy loaner car (a super sweet old-school Volvo which actually drives way better than my own car), and hopefully high-quality work that lasts! As I drove off today, my car felt better than ever. Should I ever need work done on our Volvo, I will absolutely head back to these guys. read more

Would give minus stars if that was possible! We brought my car in last week for Oil Change service and upon picking it up was told that my whole suspension needing to be replaced including Control arms, ball joints, bushing, springs etc. The shop had said that my front suspension was at 80% wear and my rear suspension was at 60% wear. Mind you, my car only has 57000 miles, it does not go four wheeling, it is just a little Audi SUV. The shop said if we get it done all at once they would give us a Military discount and the total would be around $3500. Lots of red flags went up after this. My car runs and drives great, it does not drive like it has any major suspension issues, just some un-even wear on the front tires that are due to be replaced. We went out and got a second and third opinion at suspension shops and were told that there is nothing wrong with our suspension, that it just needed to have an alignment done after we get the tires replaced. I live in Alaska. Had car issues on road trip through Washington. Had to leave my car and get it towed to their shop. Not thrilled about leaving my car in another state. They serviced the next day. I asked them to freeway drive my car to find idle issue (only happens when warm). They asked if tech should bring home. I agreed. Problem was fixed. They even dropped off at barge to send back to AK. Not cheap, but the reality of owning an old bmw is nothing comes cheap. Grateful they saw me quick. Overall: 1: quick service 2: excellent phone communication 3: reality based fixes 4: went above to return my car to me They told me what had to be done. Nothing more. My wife and I have been going to Precision for four years to regularly maintain our 2000 VW Bettle. Years ago when we first met their team we had a constant oil leak that no dealership/shop could repair. Every time we went anywhere it was easily $600+ and no permanent fix. After one visit to their shop their team found the problem (gasket in the engine) and replaced it. We never again had a problem with the oil leak. We have always appreciated their honest evaluations and timely repairs. Not only do they tell you a real price and stick to it but they also let you use a loaner car. Our car is now on its final leg (189K+ miles). They actually encouraged me to stop getting work done because it would add no real value. Their team does not even specialize in VW but they have done a fantastic job taking care of our car and if we ever buy an Audi, BMW, and or Volvo we will be back for maintenance read more

WOW for the first time in a long while I went to a repair shop and was NOT talked to like I'm a fucking asshole know-nothing chick! These guys are super great and it didn't just feel like they know how to fix Volvo's... they seemed really into it. Like my car problem was the Daily Double. My Volvo s40 had two problems totaling about $750. owich =( I didn't really want to pay that much in one punch just a few days before a vacation. So the super great guy at the counter (there were actually two and they're both great) recommended I do one thing because it's very important - and he explained why in a really, really understandable fashion. And then he said do the other thing later because even though the other thing smells, it isn't actually that time-sensitive of a problem. Plus he explained WHY it isn't that big of a problem. Nice and refreshing. Later that day I picked up the Vulva and she's a dream. It's been a month now, and everything he said would improve, has. Including gas mileage. WOOT! The next time I run into car trubz I have zero anxiety about where I'm going to take her. Good people down at Precision. read more
