I've had good experiences with Precision Motorworks. The guys who work there are super friendly and provide accurate estimates. They're also great about calling to keep you updated on the status of the repair. They specialize in BMWs and Volvos and have done excellent work for me. The location is slightly inconvenient (I'd prefer something more downtown-y). But they provide a free loaner car (albeit a somewhat old, gutless Volvo) or will gladly give you a ride to work, if it's reasonably close. read more

I went there for my my first time this week and got better work and service than I expected. I called MB of Seattle about an electrical problem and was quoted over $200 for the first hour. I called these folks based on Yelp reviews and they're $120 an hour and fixed my issue within that time. The diagnostics also uncovered another issue that they said could wait until the check engine light comes on and didn't pressure me to fix it immediately. They have plenty of business and a full lot and are happy cranking out the fixes quickly. read more

Went in for oil, battery and a ticking from engine check. Dropped in on Saturday and picked it up on Wednesday. Took more than I thought, although I had a loaner which dint bother me. Battery was replaced and oil changed. Did not reset the oil indicator but was charged $33 on paper. I saw that right away before I moved from the location. I drove the car back home. Took it out after two days and it showed the same symptoms of a low charge battery, which I dint expect after a battery replacement and programming. The car says 'Increased battery discharge', just after two days!! My car dint do that before. Now I suspect if the coding was done but I'm not sure how you could test it. But after driving a little distance it seemed to b normal. Not sure why it did that. Things seems to be OK with it now. This was my experience and they seem to know what they are doing. These guys are hands down one of the better European service centers in the Seattle metro area. I've been a long time Audi owner and have always known this place existed but never approached them for servicing until recently. First impression was this place is dialed in. You know a good service garage when they have every part neatly organized, the service bays kept clean and shelves stocked with parts from if not the OEM, the same or better oem equivalent brands. Throughout the entire time they had my car not once did they over promise and under deliver. They were upfront and honest. Furthermore, I know I am a complete crackpot when it comes to my car, I know this about myself. It's probably annoying to a lot of people. I could talk at a brick wall for an hour about my car and walk away feeling pretty good about what just took place. These guys [at least made me feel like] had a genuine interest in my car and seemed enthusiastic to work on it. I know my B5 inside and out and know they did too. Could I have shopped around and found the labor for a little less expensive? Probably, but having peace of mind knowing the work was done right and won't have to make multiple return trips [**ahem firestone**] for their parts failing makes it all worth it. Anyone who is a German, Nordic or, both car fan and owner is doing themselves a favor by trusting them with your car. read more

This garage was recommended to me by a couple of friends who I trust. My car was serviced there for a couple of years and I never felt comfortable with the communication from the desk staff. Frankly I had that gut feeling that I was being taken advantage of in the services they suggested, and the cost. There is a pretension there I can't exactly explain. They would say "just bring it in today, we'll take care of it", but sometimes they needed to keep it until the next day even though they had already assessed what the issue was and what was needed as far as parts. On one occasion I needed to have the car towed to them. I asked if they had a preferred tow company. The company they suggested were some of the rudest people I have ever encountered. When I gave them feedback about this referral they didn't seem to care. Several times I waited for hours past the time they suggested the car would be done. One time an oil change took over 4 hours when they said it would be about 2. Prior to Precision I went to Bellevue BMW. Their services cost the same, but they offered complete detailing as part of their service and a loaner pristine car. Precision one time offered me a loaner car that I had to ask for, it was not offered, and the car was extremely dirty. It was just filthy. I've found a new service provider. Their communication is incredible, they deliver when they say they will and their cost is much lower. The cost of an oil change was $100 less, and they used the same oil and provided the same service. It's worth traveling to the Eastside for their service. Clearly I'm an outlier in my experience given other reviews. I do not recommend this service provider. read more

I wasn't getting an acceptable level of customer service from my previous mechanic so I decided to give these guys a try: boy, what a breath of fresh air! Josh managed to be professional, thorough and friendly at the same time! My Mini Cooper had quite a few maintenance issues to address, but they did a great job of outlining what was needed and prioritizing them to fit my budget. There was one little cosmetic fix on the wheel arch that I had planned to do myself, but I noticed after I picked it up that they just went ahead and fixed it for free; no muss, no fuss! Also, loaner cars! Mine was a bit beat up and didn't have air conditioning, but you really can't complain about free. Precision Motorworks recently serviced my relatively high mileage (120,000+) BMW 3 series. The service ended up being significantly more expensive than I was expecting due to various problems that were found (I bought the car used, and don't know its service history), but I believe that everything Precision suggested either needed to be done immediately, or would have needed to be done soon anyway. Pros: I was informed of what should be done right away, and what could theoretically wait. The courtesy loaner car was very convenient, and worked fine. I appreciated that the person working at the service desk asked what sort of insurance coverage I had, and warned that if I didn't have full coverage on top of liability that an accident could prove costly. Since I wasn't sure about the details of my coverage, I was given an older, less costly to replace loaner car. My car was ready right when I expected it, and the squealing / squeaking appears to be gone for good. Precision also replaced a burned out headlight bulb as a courtesy (thank you!). I was asked at the time I dropped off the car how I heard of them, and when I mentioned Yelp, was given a discount (mentioned on their listing on Yelp.com) without needing to ask. Cons: The first time I called Precision Motorworks to get a quote for service, my call was never returned. The next day, the second time I called, I was placed on hold, and then the call hung up while I was holding. The third time I called, I was able to get a quote and make a service appointment. The loaner car (older BMW 523e) needed to be cleaned and vacuumed, but worked fine to get me home and back. Bottom line -- when I need future work done on my car, I'll very likely use Precision Motorworks again. read more

Update: shortly after I had my 60k tune up and a clean bill of health for my car my check engine light came on. I called Precision and they said to immediately bring it in. I did, and they gave me a loaner with no appointment. They kept my car for two days looking for the cause. They found a pinched air intake hose that occured when they were putting back stuff during my tune up. They replaced the hose and didn't charge me ONE cent for the labor and parts. They couldve taken advantage of me 10 different ways, but didn't. Customer for LIFE! read more

I just had my first experience with Precision with my 2015 Audi All-Road with a headlight replacement. They were half the price of the dealership and their customer service was exceptional. I would give them negative stars if I could. I was handed the 2002 volvo I currently drive after finishing school. Precision Motorworks took advantage of the fact I was young and unknowledgeable about volvos. For the past two years I've been in Seattle, they put a sticker on my windshield for an oil change at 3 month intervals, which is more frequent than necessary for Volvo's. Additionally, I have taken a broken driver seat handle to them about three times now. Each time, they speak with such confidence that they've permanently fixed it. Four months later, the handle breaks again. Mind you, I only drive my car on the weekends for hikes, if I even go. They are all talk and no show for their fixes and services. This place came highly recommended from a friend who works nearby. He brought in his e92, had his engine wiring harness replaced, and borrowed a nice 5 series from them while they did the work. I brought my e83 X3 in to diagnose a coolant leak and get my transfer case flushed and rear & front differential fluids replaced. As I walked up to the shop I saw a BEAUTIFUL e30 in bright yellow. I began salivating at the prospect of possibly taking that thing home, or, at least, a newer 5 series. Immediately as I entered the building I was greeted by Josh who was the most informational, attentive, polite, and thorough representative I've probably ever met. The level of service he provides is enough to keep me coming back. He quickly got me set up and confident, then asked me if I needed to borrow a loaner car. I began salivating again. He said, "We don't have any BMWs right now. You're going to have to take a Volvo." My heart sank and I contemplating asking for drive the e30. Clearly it wasn't for customers. Seems like customer service has gone down since John the owner (?) seems to not be working there as much. I have had minor issues with work here, that have taken weeks to be resolved. The excuse I have heard is "I have to ask the owner and he's not on the office that much". So after hearing this excuse, I now take my BMW to another shop where the owner, and staff are competent to answer questions if they may arise. Precision told me my car has "several oil leaks that are urgent to repair". I went and got two other opinions from Seattle area European car repair shops, and not one of them said there were any oil leaks that were of any concern. That's when I was finally done dealing with Precision. My new place does not offer loaner car services, but much more pleasant to deal with. read more

I have been taking my BMW's to Precision Motorworks for almost 10 years. I have had older cars (1988 and 1998) and they treat them as if they were brand new. They are nice, friendly and won't charge you for work you don't need; in fact, they tell you what's wrong and if they don't think you need to fix it, they will tell you. Prices are reasonable and they work to find used parts when they can for my older cars. They know what they're doing and obviously have a passion for their work. read more

I have a 2007 BMW. I came to them to inspect the car before I purchased it used, and they've been doing regular maintenance since then. This place is good and they honored my extended third-party warranty. They're not out to sell you whatever service they can, the prices are fair (not cheap, just fair). Never had any problems and driving the old loaner cars around is kind of fun (for a day or two). Their service and prices gets them four stars. BUT, the fact that they don't talk down to me for being an "asshole know-nothing chick" (as another fellow yelper described) is totally true and really appreciated. I switched to Precision Motorworks last fall, and I'm glad I did. They have everything I needed from a convenience standpoint (close to downtown, loaner cars, on a busline), but most important I felt very comfortable throughout the estimate process. When I called to describe the issues, they provided me with estimates based on their past work with a similar make and model. They were proactive in calling me with detailed information about the work needed on my car, and gave me straightforward answers to my questions. When I picked up the car, they walked me through the invoice and gave me recommendations on future work with my car. And, by the way, the standard work (inspection 2) was about 15% less expensive than my previous mechanic. All in all a great experience and I recommend them highly. The work done was on a 98 BMW, but they also work on Volvo and VW. read more

This was possibly the worst customer service experience I have ever had. I brought my car here in late December to get a simple oil change since my normal mechanic is in Bellingham. When I arrived, the man behind the counter ensured me that they weren't one of those places that would over charge or try to "pull one over on me" (I am a young women so that alone felt like a little weird, I wonder if he would have said that to a man?). A little while after I left I got a text from them saying there were nearly $1,000 worth of repairs needing to be done to the belts. I called my normal volvo mechanic who has serviced the car since we bought it in 2013 and he ensured me that these had recently been replaced and they should not need to be replaced again. I told Precision Motorworks to not do the repairs. Since then I have gotten the car looked at by other mechanics who have said there is nothing wrong with any of the belts. When I arrived to pick up my car from precision motorworks and was reviewing the bill, they had charged me twice and I had to ask for the second charge to be removed from the bill. within three days of leaving the oil light in my car came on again and upon inspection, I discovered that my oil tank had been gauged and needed to be replaced. Due to the inappropriate comment, the double charge, the misleading attempt to get me to spend more on unnecessary replacements, paired with the new damage on my car that coincidentally appeared right after they worked on it, I will not be returning there. Huge waste of money and time. read more
