The 4 ladies who are working today at the location on St. Mary's on Sunday May 19th, 2024 had the worst customer service I've ever experienced. It is a weekend so of course I expect for restaurants to be busy and have a wait, but it took almost 10 minutes before my presence was even acknowledged, and that's only because someone behind me was waiting to pay and they were trying to get me out of the way so that they could cash out the other customer. Initially my daughter and I walked in and waited at the counter behind a man who was getting a to-go order taken, but once finished the worker walked away instead of helping us. Within the next few minutes 2 other girls came up to the counter, one to answer the phone and the other to grab silverware- and then again walked away without saying anything to me. I was finally acknowledged when a family stood behind me and waited to pay. Once I was rudely asked if I wanted to join a non existent wait list (no one else was waiting ahead of me and there were plenty of spaces to be seated, including the counter) I decided to walk out and drive across town to another Denny's since my daughter had her heart set on eating there. Another couple with their baby walked out at the same time as well. I'm so happy I made the decision to leave because the customer service provided at the location near the Tucson Mall was outstanding. We were greeted right away, the staff was friendly and all worked together to make sure all the customers were taken care of. And when paying at the counter the new customers that walked in weren't ignored and were greeted and seated by another team member that hopped in and was ready to help. The crew at the St. Mary's location need training to work better as a team, and could be more friendly and welcoming. read more

Tonight y'all showed up and showed out! My T-Bone was a perfect medium rare. I mean all the food was good but not everyone cooks a t-bone well. The main reason for this review though is to shout out Margarita! She is on her shit. When my Mom and I got there there were only a few people but when we sat almost another 8 cars pulled in. Margarita quickly came over and took care of us, including getting our order in so that we would be taken care of before she got all those customers. The place filled up quick. She was awesome though. Still maintained her attentiveness with us and did a damn good job from start to finish as our cashier as well. We'll be back to see you lady! read more

What can I say? It's Denny's, it's chain-restaurant and it's a busy location but no matter how packed it is, there's no excuse for poor service...regardless. I have been to several Denny's locations and this particular location is terrible. The first problem is the disorganization with seating. We weren't greeted when we walked in and then someone cut us off and requested a table before us by telling the cashier he needed a table for four but then realized we were ahead of him. We were seated first, maybe 5 minutes upon arrival. I could hear a woman complaining as we walked off which I had no clue she had arrived sooner. I just followed our greeter as they had a table ready for my group. Look, I get it...it was a Saturday and it was a busy breakfast hour but the attitude the hostess had was ridiculous, not only towards me but other people as well. No difference with our waitress. I was with my nieces and nephew and our waitress looked instantly annoyed when all of them ordered smoothies. She brought me my coffee but no utensils so I had no spoon to stir my coffee with and then when she took drinks to the table of two behind us, one of the gentleman asked what took so long and to my surprise she said "the table in front of you ordered a bunch of smoothies and they took forever!" (in an annoyed voice, mind you). Sorry for ordering something you offer on the menu! Our food came out in a descent amount of time but our server still hadn't brought us utensils even after we asked for them. After we all got our food, it took her a good 5 minutes+ to bring the utensils out which was extremely frustrating and my food was cold by then. I was disappointed to say the least as we had a bad experience with every employee we dealt with at this location. It was very clear they were all moody and made us feel unwelcome. I don't frequent chain restaurants often and this experience was a reminder why I don't. But the kids insisted on Denny's and it's unfortunate we were treated so poorly as we were there for a birthday breakfast. What a shame. read more

This location has been around a long time. I think I first came here for lunch sometime in 1992. I recently came here for dinner because it was a walkable distance from my hotel. I was very happy with the experience. Denny's can be hit or miss. This one was really good. There was one server, but she seemed to be on top of everything. I wouldn't call her friendly, but she wasn't unfriendly either. I ordered the Avocado Bacon Cheeseburger. It was terrific. The fries were great, too. I am so happy I tried this place again. Don't waste your time with this place. Took 45 minutes to get the hamburger. Location is understaffed and the servers disappear once the order was taken. Food was ready and sat at the pickup window for 10 minutes until the hostess actually brought it to me. Bourbon burger had good flavor but was an absolute mess. Had to eat it with a fork and knife. Problem with that is server never gave me silverware. Nobody asked if everything was ok. When I finished I actually had to get up and stand at the register to get the check. My distinguished dinner colleague and I after a long sight-seeing drive of majestic Tucson decided upon a fine dinner of America's favorite diner. Knowing that we are always very happy with the flavorful food, amazing ambiance, and spectacular service how could we go wrong? Upon navigating some thoughtful road cones set up by the neighboring business we reached our "very close to the door" parking spot, but were surprised to not be met by the standard valet. Perhaps it was due to our late arrival. When entering we were met almost immediately by a vivacious young woman with a goat like bounce in her step who guided us to the closest open booth to minimize the amount we would have to walk. Very thoughtfully she informed us "this boot is open". She could obviously tell we were people who knew what she wanted as she immediately asked for our drink orders without the slightest hint of making us feel bad by assuming we needed a menu. Our experience was showing! The family sitting behind my partner had obviously had a long night at a wine tasting up state as their poor children could no longer keep their eyes open, a sure sign of an active day is a child too sleepy to stay awake at 11pm. I knew we were in like minded company. After a deep conversation we ordered our food. My cohort being a small woman and in need of keeping up appearances opted for light meal of side salad and french fries with a light dusting of shredded cheddar cheese melted atop. I as a large strong and sturdy man had worked up a voracious appetite on our adventures and ordered potato bacon croquettes, lightly fried tenderloin of chicken, and a fresh mozzarella battered British style and and cooked to a golden brown in pure extracted vegetable oil. Afforded an array of vibrant sauces I opted for the tomato mother sauce, a western style tomato based sweet sauce referred to as barbecue, and mustard and honey vinaigrette. Our mouths watered with anticipation. My partners fries came out with the aforementioned shredded and melted cheese, but as an extra they gave us the very finest pale white with red flecks of local pepper sauce atop it. It was at this point we were given the lovely option of dinnerware to eat our various food items with. My booth-mate while appreciative of the extra service was nevertheless not wanting to show herself as not properly dainty asked to have the fries as originally ordered. They were returned and sensing my companions frailty the cheese was left cold so as not to create a non lady like goop. Things seemed to be going perfectly. I plunked my beautiful croquette into the beautiful dish of vinaigrette only to discover they had accidentally given me the mustard maple syrup cinnamon dip normally reserved for special occasions that include accidentally mistaking honey for maple syrup. This surprise unfortunately turned my croquettes into some sort of breakfast treat reserved for the day after a night of intense badminton and rabble rousing. Having already ran this poor yet upbeat server into nearly four trips to the kitchen I opted to stick to the "barbecue" styled sauce. Upon finishing our meal we were immediately given the inclusive task of helping the newly arrived employee in her duties. We helped by handing her various containers she hastily filled to accommodate the next guess of our booth. It is wonderful to be included in the tasks of the proletariat. A truly inspiring and community building exercise. Upon paying and leaving my partner needed to relieve herself in the private privy in the rear of the restaurant. While I waited outside enjoying glances between the views of the bubbling fountain that created a wonderful lake with feeding stream to my vehicle and the inspiring views of local barbarians jamming cuts of meat into their mouths while boasting of their recent conquests being sure to demonstrate their manhood with views of their mastication techniques I enjoyed a miniature cigar imported from the far state of Virginia. I went to Denny's tonight for dinner. While there, a waitress drops a tray of food near us. The waitress left amd didn't return. I don't blame for the accident since they happen. As a result of her disappearance, the manager started serving food. After a long wait my food arrived. It was cold and the portion was very small fir being a plate of spaghetti. When I got the bill, the manager did not offer any discount for the small portion or the long wait for my meal. As a result I didn't leave a tip for the manager. My wife and I ordered from Denny's twice over the past week, and they gave us large sized portions that are like what you'd get if you actually went there to eat, not the small portions most food places offer through delivery. Their pancakes are excellent and my wife loved their eggs and sausages. As for delivery, it was fast, within 30 minutes. We ordered through Doordash, which partners with Denny's and sends order information directly to this Denny's, which speeds up the order and leaves no room for a dasher to mess it up. Okay, I don't know why it took Yelp so long for me to be able to write an update to my recent experience at this particular Dennys, but now that I am able to, it's my pleasure to notify you all of how my less than stellar experience has since been rectified. The next morning, I contacted the GM of that store and notified him of the previous night's events. He apologized immediately and offered us a gift card in the amount of the check I had paid. We accepted and after work that evening we stopped by to pick up our card. On duty that evening was a different shift manager who was also apologetic and offered us not only the gift card left in my name, but also a free meal. I accepted but asked that we take them to go, as I was still reeling from a day's hard work. The food was good, in fact still hot by the time we got home- I had a double cheeseburger with fries. The next morning we used our gift card for a nice breakfast. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the management at Dennys for addressing our bad service. Their response was quick and to my satisfaction. You have earned my business again, and my hope is that affected staff will learn a valuable lesson about customer service. read more

Yes, I know - reviewing a Denny's - AND giving them 5 stars?!?!? Here's why: This place rules when you're drunk. RULES. It's close to downtown/4th Ave., open 24 hours, and not nearly as busy as the Grill or the Taco Shop. $2, $4, $6 menu - with good things on it. The Denny's burger + fries = $6. The people that work here at night are SO nice! And tolerant - they don't judge your drunk, slutty friends - they just serve you, keep the waters full, and smile. Good or not, Denny's is always the same. There are always fried, terrible foods, big burgers, awesome slices of pie and plenty of parking spaces. I love you, Denny's @ St. Mary's and I-10. The best Denny's location in all of tucson hands down, it sort of speaks for itself since a good number of other Denny's I've been too are closed down. Anyways I came here with a group of about 15 girlfriends on Sunday morning for breakfast, and we are used to terrible service since there are so many of us that at this point we just know service will suck. But this place was a pleasant surprise! The waitress was so kind and friendly and never seemed upset with our requests for different things. Our food all got out accurately and in a timely fashion. Came in about 5am on a Friday morning. Traveling thru town and stopped for breakfast. Probably the best Denny's meal I've ever had. The waitress was pleasant. Our orders were correct and came out so fast. My scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly and fluffy. The hashbrowns were soft in the middle and perfectly crisp on the outside. Nothing elaborate here. Simply a good restaurant with quick, friendly service. The food was hot, it tasted great, and it didn't take long to make it to our table. The manager was seen stopping by pretty much every table to check on things and see how it was going, which was good. Only two small complaints. First, the bathrooms; the men's room had an awful stink to it, like raw sewage, and the ladies' room was completely trashed from what I was told. Also, one of the servers (not ours!) had the horrible habit of slamming the tray stand back in its holder whenever she was done with it. Would startle everyone at the table every time she did it. The worst Denny's in Arizona! Drove from Texas this past weekend for work with the guys. Tired and hungry Denny's was he only diner open at 1:30am. Waited for almost 2 hours before our waitress told us that our food was still not ready. We have to drive 14 hours back home in an empty stomach due to time constraint obligations needing to be back in southern Texas the next day. It's 3:15am and we just got back on the road. I had a carryout order and it was wrong. I called to have them make it the way I ordered originally. The poured tons of hot sauce on it so it was not edible.
