Holiday Rush Busy as Expected But ordered just a biscuit and gravy was not fresh for the wait

Denny's restaurant store #9616 had me speechless when I ordered the all American slam . Wheat bread was buttered evenly , eggs were scrambled to perfection, bacon and sausage did not taste like the plastic or old well seasoned all around . Even the coffee was not watered down like I've experienced in other Dennis establishments. The server Dessa T . Made my experience in Dennis welcomed and wanting more . I was so happy that I had to ask for manager and Dora Smith is determined and happy manager when I told her my experience in her restaurant as well how clean and non sticky the tables were. Denny's @ 1420 SW H K Dodgen Loop - Temple, TX 4/11/21 My first instinct should have been enough. As we were seated we notices (5) Five tables that had not been cleared, nor were cleaned when we left. Food and paper was all around the dining area. Our waitress was very nice or we would have left. We ordered and waited a very long time for our food. Only 4 tables were occupied. We ordered breakfast and it was decent. Nothing to rave about. NO effort was made by the many employees or manager to clear the tables of food. There were paper napkins on the floor of the prep area and the employees just stepped on them. Too lazy to pick them up? We will NOT be returning to this Denny's! read more

Serve was horrible!!!!! Restaurant was horrible. Our "server" was dressed/covered in food or such; seemed more like a busser than a server. It took a while to get our drinks, straws, our order taken. The "server" brought out two food trays for other tables and left the dirty trays on another table. (I have a picture of that) She touched the trays 4 times, each time not taking it off the clean table to the back. When my mom went to the bathroom, the toilet paper roll was hanging on the hook on the back of the door. The toilet kept running, never stopped. On her way back to our table, she witnessed a cook wiping his face with his arm and hand then go back to setting plates. In the expo was more than 3 trays of food waiting to be taken out to guest. When my mom asked to speak to a manager, they said there is not one on duty. There were 3 servers who were working their tables good. We couldn't even get one check back. Never asked a refill on coffee, my husband's water...nothing. Worse service ever!!! read more

Hardly anyone in the restaurant, took 35 min to get a simple breakfast. It was horrible. Eggs not cooked to order, did not bring toast, coffee was warm at best. How can such a new restaurant be so sorry? There's a line with me at the head that's been waiting in excess of twenty minutes. The clerk took my order and that was it. After 20 minutes I politely pulled off. There's absolutely no feasible to run an establishment so shoddy. I've used this restaurant in the past, but never again. We haven't been to this restaurant in quite some time but went this AM. We recognized Letti right way and she recognized us as well. I always order French Toast. I'm not sure if it was recently changed on the menu, but she remembered it was different then the last time we were there. Letti has always provided us with personable and professional service, today was no exception. We wanted to thank her for taking good care of us. Giving three stars because while the service and French Toast was excellant, the eggs and sausage were not very good. read more

Me and my husband went to Denny's on the 3rd of April for a late breakfast we were served by Leticia G and Davante the coffee can use some work, but the food and the service was great!! They both went above and beyond to ensure me and my husband had everything that we requested I.e hot syrup, extra napkins etc.. I can't wait to go back again! read more

My Son and I went to Denny's for a late breakfast every thing was just terrible both of our hash browns was over cooked and dry,my omelette was dry and bland and my son pancakes was over cooked and I asked for wheat toast got white instead, and the service was very very slow waited to long got there around 10:30 pm did not get our food until 11:50 pm I might give it one more try we will see until then they only get one star read more

Went to order online and of course it doesn't work. So we utilized the drive thru and the employee obviously didn't know the menu or have one to read. And then kept getting confused when I was trying to add the options to my meal. Got the food and Yep! you guessed it missing items and even got the wrong food. I ordered the cookie dough pancakes and got some horrible looking pancakes with blueberries and bananas, I should have taken a picture of how bad everything looked. They really need to work on how they send their togo orders out because their current method allows so much condensation that the food gets soggy on a 5 min drive to the house. But it's okay they get to deal with my wife now and might need some counseling after wards. read more

I ordered (door dash) for breakfast. Called the resturant to let them know I have a dairy allergy... not to put milk, butter, cheese, any dairy on my order. They said hash browns would taste bad without better. But told them yes, I wanted them anyway. Order came. There was butter on the toast. They didn't even give us salt and pepper. Figured that was a given with their hash brown comment. It was a delivery order... but they didn't give us any silverware or even napkins. Food was very cold and took about a 1/2 longer than estimated to receive. (No fault of delivery person). All around very disappointed. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Me and my husband went into the restaurant at 10:20am on a busy Sunday morning so we expected to wait, no big deal. We didn't have anywhere to be until 1pm so there's still plenty of time to sit and enjoy our meal before leaving. We get seated at our table and the (excellent) server waited on us. Got our drinks and our order was taken in a timely manner. However, we continued to wait for the food to come out till 11:55am. Yes you are reading that correctly. We ordered our food at 10:30am and an hour and 25 minutes later me and my spouse still had not received our omelette and my $6.99 super slam. I originally went to the host stand to ask if there was an estimated time or if there was anyway we could speak with the manager. The (also extremely excellent) host went to find the GM. After another 5-6 minutes of me standing at the front counter waiting for the GM to value my concerns, he appears! But only to walk directly beside me to the Grubhub person waiting for their to-go order as well. They finish their conversation about how the grubhub person had been waiting 20 minutes and he received his delivery and leaves. I try to approach him but he walks away. I continue to stand there about another 5 minutes before I give up and go sit down. After telling my husband that I was never approached, he becomes infuriated. He then goes up to the host stand and also asks to speak with the GM. The manager is looking around worrying about where he is going to fit the 15 top, not concerned about the long line of customer complaints that the staff is TRYING to tell him about. These poor servers and hosts did everything in their power to make it right, but being in the restaurant business, the manager is in charge of customer complaints. (Ive worked in the restaurant business since I was 16) To make a very long story short, our food FINALLY arrived while my husband was up there. The manager told him that if he was upset about how long the wait was that we were allowed to leave. He did not try to handle the situation, he basically said "sorry that sucks but we need your table anyway for this large party" Also I should probably throw in, the table beside had the EXACT same situation! They had been there for 2 hours with no food, and when they got their food it was cold and undercooked! I'm sorry I never write negative reviews but I HAD to warn people about the AWFUL management! Don't worry we left our untouched food for the manager and still left a tip for our amazing waitress! read more

Came into a dirty lobby. Staff was too busy playing sound. Gave us plastic silverware instead of regular silverware. Had a dog come in without a leash claiming to be a service dog but nothing showing it was a service dog. Manager refused to address the situation.​ read more

Disappointed in this Denny's. 3 times I have been here and all 3 times something has gone wrong. Today I had a curbside pickup. Called when I got to Denny's and the person on the phone said they were finishing the order. 20 mins later I went in and it wasn't done yet. When I finally got it took it home to find my order wasn't even cooked completely. The wives order was fine and her's tasted great that's why they get 2 stars. I don't know if it's management or understaffed but they need to change or fix something. read more

So glad these guys are back in Temple! Great service and best breakfast my husband and I have had in awhile! Angie, our server, was well-trained and did a great job leading us through the menu. Pancakes were hot and fluffy.... eggs were perfect. Try the Wild West omelet!!! Restrooms were spotless. Love the high backed booths......seems these guys are also doing a great job protecting guests. Manager on Duty (Rose I think), stopped to check on us to make sure everything was perfect. Reasonable prices for huge portions. We will be back! read more

The food was awful and it was cold. I ordered through Grubhub. I ordered a steak and a chicken fried steak. The food was not well packed. The chicken fried steak was small. I've had bigger chicken fried steak everywhere else. I ordered 2 broccoli sides and only got one side unless that was supposed to be two and it was small. Went at 9 a.m. on a Monday. The place wasn't busy. The service was good and the food was okay. Nothing special. The restaurant was visibly dirt - the floor, the tables, the booth cushions, etc. it was obvious the tables had been wiped with a dirty rag and ours had sticky syrup on it. Worst of all was the women's bathroom! It had obviously not been cleaned at all that morning - disgusting! We won't be back! read more

Went to Denny's last night about 5pm. I thought the restaurant was closed at first. There was only one other couple in the restaurant eating. The waitress took our order and brought us water. We sat and waited. 30 minutes went by and still no food. There was a busboy cutting up with some females that were waiting for an order. I got up and asked him about our order. He said they only had one cook. I told him that we are the only patrons in the restaurant. He said the cook is working on a to go order. I asked if they had even started our order yet, since it had been 30 minutes. He said they cook the orders as they come in. I said we might leave and go to a restaurant where we can get served. He said go ahead. We left. I have visited this Denny's many times and never had this type of service. I can now understand why there was no one there. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone at this point. I won't be returning. read more

The food was just horrible, the burger wasn't even cooked all the way, you could smell the cheese on my eggs was old and the chicken fried steak was disgusting. the only thing that was good was the toast and fries, this place doesn't even deserve one star... BTW get more waitstaff. read more

My family and I decided Denny's would be a good choice for a late night dinner. We got here and everything went though normal till we asked for a couple minutes more to decide on food. After 30 minutes we had to ask for someone since no one came over. It has been now over an hour and we still do not have our food, I asked for a refill of my sweet tea and instead I received a coke. Personally I work in a kitchen like this one and in my experience food should never take this long to make or get out even with 3 cooks which is enough for each station. For my readers I wouldn't show here this is not the first mess up I've had on this place but it will be my last. read more

Very disappointed , my kids like to eat here and I wanted to treat them but I wanted to get there early, we arrived at 11:20am and waitress said is going to about 45min-1hr. Ok I understand it was a little busy, after 1 hour later a new waitress greeted us and said your waitress had to leave, I'm going to be your waitress, I said we been here for an 1hr she said I will check on your order a few minutes later she said our order was several pages behind in line, it will be a while before we get to yours, the place was half empty. This is unacceptable, employees were standing around and outside smoking, I'm sorry is that a priority? And customers can wait? No thank you. Who ever owns this place needs to replace management! If this doesn't happen I guarantee that Denny's will not be in Temple TX too much longer! read more

There is not a rating low enough. Placed on line order. They do not answer the phone so you can notify them you have arrived. Girl going from car to car asking names. Brought me an order not mine. I wish there was a way to give this Hell-Hole zero stars. They certainly do not deserve any stars. My husband and I went there last night during the very late night hours. We arrived around 2 a.m. after celebrating the holiday and we were starving. Our waitress took our order and we sat back and relaxed and chatted about our evening. A cold front had caused the temperature to drop down into the 30s, and we were sitting in a frigid place next to a window. I began to shiver from the cold and we realized that we had been waiting for over an hour and a half with no food. The waitress came by only once during this and said our food would be right out. That was the last time we heard from her. I saw her way across the room waiting on other tables but she never bothered to come back and explain what the heck was going on with our order. We finally decided that they were not going to serve us and that we should just get up and walk out. I had to make a trip to the restroom, and I could see that other people had been served who had arrived after we arrived. Things were getting crazy in some parts of the restaurant. There were carts with dirty dishes pushed into the aisle not far from our table and left sitting there. When I returned from the restroom, we walked out of the restaurant and we will never go back there again. I do not know how they are in business but I do not expect them to last very long. read more

Ordered Denny's from here through Uber eats. We are from out of town and have never been to this one. Never had a bad experience from any other Denny's before til now. Not have I ever had a bad Uber eats experience. But not only didn't Denny's burn all of our food (bacon, hash browns, toast), came with one egg instead of two, completely mess up our orders, they completely forgot to put our pancakes to all of our orders in the bag before the driver came. The only option they gave us was to come pick it up. No refund for the food we didn't get. Absolutely disappointed in our whole order and experience. After reading other reviews, I completely agree and Would not recommend this Denny's to anyone. read more

I believe the restaurant has come a long way since opening at the end of October. And the servers are awesome.. yes on very busy days the food does come out a bit slow but considering how new all there staff must be they do at decent job. I'm sure after they've been in place a few months they'll get that polished out as well. read more
