Ordered a vegetarian burger with jalapeño rings. Superb quality and crispy jalapeño rings added the twist and really awesome and tons of fries that I enjoyed. Ate a strawberry pizookie too as a dessert .. freshly baked hot cookie from oven topped with big scoops of vanilla frosting decrease, strawberry syrup and fresh strawberries.. it's was heavenly!! Had another meet up with our friend, this is about the best place in town for us to get together, as the food, beer, and service are consistently above average. Our servers, Mikayla (sp?), and TJ were friendly and, on their game, taking care of us. Mikayla took care of us for most of the meal, and then handed off to TJ for the rest of our visit. We tend to linger over beers here, and never had to look for refills or quick service. The happy hour specials and food were very good, and the Hop Queen and our friend got Pizookies with their meal deals to take home for later. We got real food and not just pizookies this time when we went to BJ's. The food was very solid American food. I really liked the avocado egg rolls as an appetizer. I had the shrimp scampi, which was good. I liked it, but I'm used to the shrimp shell being removed in pasta, which was not the case here. My friend and I shared the triple chocolate pizookie, and it had a very rich taste. Bumping up my previous review by one star since I got the real dining experience this time. Hostess was kind and amazing, however it was all down hill after that. The plates were dirty, my husband's beer glass had a lipstick stain. They gave me the wrong salad dressing (not a big deal) and then after we ordered our food they ran out of our choices. Food was okay, it took 30 minutes for a pazookie to go. They added a charge onto our receipt that I had to ask for them to take off. Our napkins had stains, overall not clean. We go out once maybe twice a year and this was such an awful experience. We usually eat here quite often. One of my favorite dishes is the Strawberry Fields Salad. Usually pretty spot on. Today (Friday Night) I ordered it, and not up to par. Unfortunately, they must have been short on the baby field greens and substituted iceberg lettuce/romaine? That probably wouldn't have been so bad if the lettuce they substituted was not old and brown on the edges. It's disappointing. Server was new and inexperienced. So, I get it. Everyone has to start somewhere. But where do they disappear to? The booth we sat at had someone's used straw on the bench. Nice touch. The bathroom has a mold/mildew problem. It needs to be remediated. Everyone says it's Temple what do you expect. I expect consistency across all BJ's I've ignored a lot of what is wrong with this one, I just figured someone should know. This shrimp scampi was absolutely disgusting and honestly felt like a health hazard. The presentation alone was enough to turn my stomach -- the shrimp looked straight up uncooked, pale, slimy, and completely unseasoned. It tasted like it was scooped directly out of the ocean and thrown on a plate with zero effort. No seasoning, no flavor, nothing. The entire dish was bland beyond belief. The alfredo sauce was just as bad -- watery, tasteless, and the only thing you could even taste were the tomatoes, which completely overpowered everything else. I substituted the sauce for alfredo sauce and asked for fettuccine instead of spaghetti, yet somehow I still ended up with spaghetti noodles anyway. Clearly no one paid attention to the order. By the time I was done forcing a few bites, I was genuinely worried I might get food poisoning. This dish felt unsafe, careless, and poorly prepared from start to finish. One of the worst meals I've had in a long time. Absolutely do not recommend. read more

TLDR: my takeout/delivery order of spaghetti had a lovely cricket buried under the pasta. The "fresh fruit" in the kid's meal is very clearly canned fruit. I cannot even begin to express how completely disappointed and disgusted I am. I placed a delivery order on Monday night for an order of the spaghetti and meatballs and a kids spaghetti with a side of fresh fruit. Initially everything looked fine but the drink was missing, no big deal I assumed the delivery person forgot, easy mistake. Unfortunately as I was eating my spaghetti, which I assume was a mixture of fresh and old pasta based on the dried texture of some of the noodles, I found a cricket. A literal cricked buried in the pasta. A little less concerning , the kids side of fresh fruit is very clearly canned fruit. Nothing "fresh" about it and whomever packed it couldn't even be bothered to make sure it didn't have green onion mixed in. read more

I took my mom to BJ's restaurant and brewhouse after enjoying a bit of shopping in Temple, Texas. The menu was pretty big and there were nice selections on it as well, but we decided to share a few appetizers. The ambience was nice comfortable, but a bit too dim lighted which made it hard to see the menu. Quite a big restaurant with different sections to sit at including a bar with plenty of TVs and seating was comfortable. I would definitely love to come hang out with friends in a big round booth watching games or what on the TV, and having a few pizza,, wings, and sliders. The food is delicious and the service was very friendly. Mom love the flat crusty veggie pizza and sliders which she ate two of the four. My mom even tried a sip of each of the four very tasty margaritas on my flight. My mom is 85 and doesn't really drink, but she did enjoy the taste of the jalapeño margarita because she likes it hot and spicy. The tuna poke bowl was also a big hit with my mom and I have to say it was very fresh and very light and delicious. All in all we enjoyed our experience at BJ's restaurant and I will definitely be going back when I go back home to visit my family, I plan on taking my brothers as well. read more

We ate there for the first time and it was not as good as people said it was. The brisket hamburger was not as good as it is priced. We told our waitress about it and showed her the minimal "shredded brisket" that was on the hamburger. She did get some more and brought it to us but that should not had to happen in the first place. The hamburger wasn't cooked as requested. Our coleslaw was spoiled and really really bad, it really was rancid. I don't know how the manger or even food manager allowed that to get by. If I were the food inspector I would have a field day in that kitchen and the staff. This was our first time and more than likely our last time at THIS location. I won't hold other BJ's restaurant accountable for this locations lack of quality, but it does reflect my choice of going to them. Our waitress was nice and professional.. The hostess excused herself and left us standing by the table, then she hurriedly cleared the last of the napkins and glasses. She put our menus down, then seemed put off when I asked her to wipe the crumb covered booth seats off. Our server Cory was attentive but didn't hover. Despite the rock start with our hostess, he was quick to bring our drinks and take our order. The disappointment returned after he brought our food. He didn't come to refill drinks or check on us. When he came to offer the check, we ordered dessert. He cleared half the plates but then didn't return to clear the others until he was dropping off dessert. This was our first time at this BJ's location. We came for lunch and sat at the bar. Our bartender, Hunter, was pretty busy. However, she greeted us right away with menus. It was astonishing to us that she was able to take three different orders without writing them down, get waters and silverware at the same time and everything was perfect. Our food was good. (A little on the expensive side. But what do you expect these days) In the end her service was impeccable, her smile was beautiful, and her demeanor, friendly and inviting. Back in the day when I managed a nightclub I would have snapped her up in a heartbeat! BJ's management and corporation should be grateful to have a worker like her. Will be back. Absolutely terrible experience. I went with 2 friends. We all ordered sirloin steaks: 2 with scampi & 1 with ribs. Every single one of our steaks was cut inconsistently to the next steak & none of them were cooked the way we asked. We called the one with the ribs a Wizard Hat steak because it came to a point. There's no way to cook a steak evenly with those cuts (thin to thick). The picture on the menu also doesn't show them to be cut this way. If they are going for tri-tip, the menu should show & label it as that. They claim they are slow roasted. They were extremely tough & unchewable. There was also lots of fat in some places & sirloins are traditionally more lean. The scampi was flavorless: no salt, garlic, or butter taste even though there was plenty of butter. Mashed potatoes & salads were fine. The Chicken Deep Dish Nachos & the Pizookies were really good. Our waiter was very nice, talkative and friendly. He offered to have another steak cooked for us. But with 3 inconsistent, undercooked steaks, we knew we'd get the same thing again. They did comp 2 of our meals & give us our desserts free (which we didn't find out until after ordering them). But based on the meals alone, I would not go back. I'm happy they made it right by not having us pay for meals we couldn't eat, literally. We were originally going for the $13 pizookie meals & decided to splurge. Unfortunately, we wished we would have stuck with our more simple, original choices. read more
