Bill's Grill is a hidden gem right across from the VA hospital. We were hankering for a good burger after my husband's appointment and they did not disappoint. Even our toddler's chicken nuggets were phenomenal. Everything was fresh, hot, and delicious. The ranch was definitely homemade and went perfectly with their onion rings. If you've ever been to a traditional diner then you can imagine sitting at Bill's Grill. They immediately brought us a high chair for our little man and they were so sweet to him. One of the other waitresses even brought him over a little toy flashlight, which he was over the moon for. Irene took wonderful care of us. She was sweet, kind, and quick. Bill's & Grill 02-26-26 Had lunch here with two of my grandsons. Nice little diner with friendly staff and good cooking. We had: Double Cheeseburger with Fries Western Omelet with hasbrowns, Biscuits with Gravy. Chicken Fried Steak Breakfast with hash browns, Toast, and two eggs over easy. The food was served fresh and hot. Great place to grab a bite to eat! Weather it's Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner. You can't go wrong! Will be back for more. This was our 3rd stop for Mother's day since other places were closed and it did not disappoint. It's a small diner and they were pretty busy with only 2 waitresses. Our waitress apologized a few times, however, we placed our order only after a few minutes of sitting down and we received our food fairly quickly. The ham, onion, mushroom omelet was SO good. It was flavorful and fresh. I had a few bites and wished I had ordered it. I had the eggs, sausage, Hashbrown, toast plate. Very good! The waffle was good too. Decided to visit here after visiting the train museum in Temple and we WERE NOT impressed. First off right after we walk in we notice a man sitting in the corner hacking and coughing that originally started to put us off to this place but we decided to give it a shot. My Wife and I got the Chicken Fried Steak which unfortunately turned out to be a frozen patty. I also got a baked potato which was the only fresh ingredient on my plate. We also got an order of onion rings for the table which were also frozen. My Mother in law got the Chicken Tenders which unfortunately were also frozen. My Father in law got the Pancakes which out of the entire meal was the only fresh thing besides my baked potato. Pretty much the only positive out of the whole visit was the waitress was pretty nice. Otherwise not a good visit. If you want good FRESH food I'd look elsewhere. read more

Was surprised there wasn't more of a crowd on a Saturday morning. We were looking of a diner that we could visit monthly as there's no Waffle House around. Bills hit the mark. Quick service, good food, good prices. We had two country breakfast (TOO much Food) but it was great! The blueberry Texas waffle was amazing! Our server was awesome too. We will be back. Man they make great pancakes! I had the Thursday morning special, 2-2-2 (2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 sausage with a side of hash browns). My wife had 1 egg, 2 bacon and pancakes w/drink. Prices are very reasonable for what you get. Perfect location across from the VA. Our server, Stephanie was awesome. I asked for a smudge of peanutbutter for my pancakes and she brought a bowl full. Order for pick up- Philly cheesesteak and Cheeseburger meals w extra side of okra. The okra and ranch were okay. Fries seemed old and refried almost a chewey texture. Bread for cheesesteak was old and reheated- hard, and again chewey/ rubbery texture at ends and stale all over. The filling was dried out and old textured lacked the jalapeños that were paid for and barely had a slice of cheese on it. Very dry and very disappointing. I'm recouping from surgery, hence the pickup order but would have returned it to the waitress and asked for a refund had I been in person. Also, the prices are different all over- online, on the printed takeout menu and on the receipt. Is it 11.99, 9.99; or 12.49 for cheesesteak meal. And why is there a customization charge on top of the jalapeños charge which I never got. read more

Bill's is a great little diner across from the VA in Temple. It's been open since 1974, so by now they know what they are doing! Breakfast is available all day and they have great burgers, sandwiches and dinners. Prices are very reasonable. They also have daily breakfast and lunch/dinner specials that are great deals. Best reason to come here might be the waitresses. They are a hoot and love to cut up with the customers. Go fill your belly and enjoy a flashback to simpler times. read more

The service was fast and our waiter was very sweet she called everyone at the table "Honey". It reminded me of episode 6 of season 9 of Curb Your Enthusiasm when Richard Lewis calls his new girlfriend "honey" and she is put off- thinking he's moving too fast in their relationship. Being retired military, I was piqued when I saw S.O.S was todays special. 'S*it on a shingle' is a GI staple which is chipped cream beef, beef with cream gravy over biscuits, bread, omelette - many personas. This version is sliced, crumbled sausage patties with a creamed gravy over biscuits. I added Tabasco for a kick. If you like diners, give Bill's Grill a shot. I like this local diner a lot. Good value for your money and a varied menu. I moped in there on a lonely birthday, Ended up being a memorable happy day. The waitress and grill cook sang "Happy Birthday" to me with gusto, then they treated me to a free slice of pie. It is not fine dining, but is full of heart and personality. Breakfast all day, too. I like the cheese omelet that comes with lots of hash browns. Could eat their sausage gravy & biscuits all day. I think they are cheaper on Saturday. I might have to drop in for a plate of S.O.S. today! My lunch/dinner favs are hamburgers, Friday catfish special and the double chicken fried steak plate. Burgers are again, like the ol' time diner food, so good and served with plenty of fries, yum. I love the FACT they ARE made fresh and hot, NOT the steamed, pre and/or par cooked tempid tasteless stuff that's food poisoning waiting to happen, being served by every other drive thru burger place now days. Breakfast? All fresh made, waffles, made from scratch...all yummy. Sure "sometimes" you might have to wait, but it's not because of lack of service. These people truly busy. It's been about 2 years since I've been here- there was a woman they had cooking who had no business on a griddle and so I stopped going. I was happy to see she was not there on this visit. I had eggs over easy, hash browns, bacon and toast and everything was cooked well. The service is friendly enough. Bill's Grill is perfectly mediocre- which, all things considered, is exactly what it should be. If you're looking for large portions of cheap, greasy food- look no further. read more

I eat at Bill's about twice a week. Most of the food is good, some is great, and some is just okay, but I've never had anything that was bad. The staff is friendly and attentive, but if you come at a peak time, you might wait 15 minutes to place your order. Just keep in mind that Bill's is a grill. It's regular people serving regular food, so don't expect anything fancy or innovative. And that's a big part of why I like it so much. Oh, and the prices are so cheap you really should tip more than 20% (it's not the server's fault that the prices are low). My family of four has never gone over $40, and usually it's closer to $30. read more

Best place so far for classic breakfast dinning. I have yet to find one equal or better to this classical Gem. I wish we had more of these still around.
