Avocado Toast

Haven't been here in a while but I'm glad I stopped back in. Really good breakfast here guys! Everything went smooth as usual and service was great! Also has a nice bakery area as soon as you walk in. Haven't tried any of those yet but will in the future. My meal was awesome! The hash was what I needed. Felt like a really clean meal. . The avocado toast was great on sourdough. The garnish was a nice touch. Thank you for a great meal!

Build your own omelette

Stopped in for lunch at Megg's and loved it and the place also has a bakery attached to it. So pastries and bread to take home for later to sample prices seem reasonable. My wife had the Old Fashioned Oatmeal, they had an over abundance of Raisins on the food. It was more than enough for two people thought the bowl would be of a smaller size. I had the Build your own Omelette with Pork sausage, Green Pepper and Monterey Jack cheese with Rye toast. Omelette was wonderful will have to remember to ask for no seasoning on the potatoes, seemed very salty to me. Being I use no salt due to HBP, my wife tried them and said they were seasoned fine for her. Coffee both regular and Decaf was fresh at noon time so that was a plus. Our waitress was funny on the spot and service was spot on the whole time. Nice atmosphere and wonderful food. everyone seemed to be enjoying their meals and conversation level was low and not disturbing while you are eating. Keep up the great work once we get moved in will try out the different breads in the bakery.

I would probably give the food 4* but a 5* for presentation and service! I was too full to try any baked goods but I would definitely return next time I'm in town.

Look forward to coming to Megg's Cafe. The service and food are always great and the bakery provides the extra sweet once we get home. Today's lunch was on the covered outdoor patio where we hadn't been previously. Lovely clear day so the ambiance was very relaxing. Our choices today were the pastrami Reuben sandwich and the beet and Bibb salad with goat cheese and candied pecans and added grilled chicken. The salad had a balsamic dressing. One of the best beet salads I've ever eaten! So good! The sourdough bread was outstanding as well. Our server Paola was wonderful and very accommodating for two of us recovering from knee and hip surgery. Took home some cranberry scones and blueberry muffins which are outstanding. Despite a 45 ride there it's well worth the drive!

Biscuits and Gravy Browned Butter Pecan Pancake Short Stack

First things first we received great service from our waitress. She was very attentive and helpful in what should be ordered . The scenery was a little open and that gave me a slight bit of feeling "exposed" but the overall decor was nice and cozy. Now to the food....... I ordered biscuits and gravy with deviled eggs on the side and my wife ordered smothered omelette with a brown butter pecan pancake and apple toast. Staring with the biscuits and gravy; the gravy wasn't seasoned at all but i don't really expect a sausage gravy to be from a restaurant due to that being a kind of "season to taste" dish. I was able to season the gravy to my liking but i was then met with the biscuit.... When i say the biscuit was probably one of the worst I've had , that would also probably be an understatement. The consistency of the biscuit was thick dense and soft but the flavor gave an almost "tangy" aftertaste that even the seasoning of the gravy couldn't salvage. All in all I'd give that dish a 3/10. My wife let me taste the butter pecan pancake, I'm not much of a pecan person so I'm more so biased on it but the texture and consistency tasted more like a pecan muffin than it did pancake overall I'd give that a 5/10. All in all our experience with this place wasn't the best. Service was amazing but everything else just wasn't doing it for me so I'd be forced to give this place a big 3/10. Probably won't be back in this life time

Avocado Benedict

Service - shown to a small table promptly. Saw our waitress promptly. Food delivered rapidly -within ten minutes or so. Ordering. I am surprised that they have Mrs Butterworth's syrup. This rules out all waffles and French toast. Seriously? Not even available as an up-charge for real maple syrup? My wife ordered the avocado Benedict. It comes with house potato's. My wife said their coffee is a 7 or 8 on a 1-10 scale. Ambience- typical high end breakfast restaurant. Pleasant. It was clean, and not sticky.

Caprese Sandwich and Megg's Fries(kinda like popeyes breaded fries!) and Biscuits & Gravy with Two Eggs Highly recommend!!!

Incredible. Super great service, not too long a wait on a weekend morning! Food was excellent, fresh and soooooo much better than any breakfast/brunch chain. Will definitely be coming back.

Had lunch here while in the area. Nice place, plenty of seating, and a friendly staff. We had a fried chicken wrap, chicken and waffles, and biscuits and gravy Benedict. All meals were good and would definitely come back to try other meals.

Our delicious breakfast meal."Pastrami Hash" and a "Threedom of Choice", with the hotcakes split.

Is the wait usually all the time?

The few times I've gone, and one of those was a Saturday for brunch, the wait was 20 mins. or less. Try their Ruben sandwich if you like them. Theirs is very good ?

Our server was very sweet and efficient- there when we needed her but not hovering. The food is glorious. They are a bit on the expensive side, but the food is so good we did not mind the prices. I had the chicken and waffles - nicely crisp chicken breast with very tasty waffles. My husband and granddaughter-in-law had the steak and eggs - with really good potatoes and onions; both were SO impressed with the flavor and the preparation. (I will be having this next time!). My grandson had 'Hong Kong' French toast, which I believe was made with Japanese milk bread and had berries and a custard. Also came with eggs and bacon. He could not speak highly enough about it. The portions are LARGE. We all took food home. I shared my plate with my great granddaughter (2 yrs) and still took food home! Honestly, we had booked another restaurant for the weekend of Mother's Day (day before) and we canceled that reservation so that we could go back to Farmers Commons! It's that good. Also, all the folks working when we were there were very sweet with my great granddaughter; we appreciated that. HIGHLY recommend for brunch. Now i want to try dinner too!

What BBQ place on the list happens to be open on a Monday (and quite frankly, seven days a week)? Miller's Smokehouse in Belton. Miller's Smokehouse has one of the longest tenures on the Texas Monthly Top 50, making the list four times in a row (the third-highest behind Louie Mueller and Snow's). They've got their business down. As I arrived, I parked in a free parking lot just across the street and got into the line around 12:30. The line moves pretty efficiently, and you order separately from the barbecue line. I think this immediately felt disheartening as a barbecue fan. You kinda expect to get your food while in line and watch the assembly of workers put it together, instead of them being in a separate location in the back giving you order numbers. It doesn't feel like a true Texas barbecue experience and more like a Dickey's Barbecue Pit. Instead of going for a tray, I opted for one of their specialty sandwiches, the El Gallo Picante. It has their spicy hot link sausage and their smoked chicken topped with coleslaw, onions, jalapeños, pickles, and barbecue sauce. I also got a side of their broccoli salad out of curiosity and a roll of their homemade cornbread. I got my drink and sat down with my roll of cornbread. It wasn't long until my tray came to me. The sandwich stood on its own as a behemoth. So much chicken and sausage fell out of the bun. The sandwich was less concerned about being a sandwich and more focused on creating a space to try and contain a mixture of ingredients. It wasn't bad, but it was hard to say anything other than that I felt uninspired by the entire thing. The sausage was fine, the chicken was kinda dry, but everything together with all the separate ingredients masked the meats' faults. The broccoli salad was a unique side that I had never seen before at a barbecue joint, so I wanted to try it. It was cool, but not something I'd get again. As for the cornbread, it was quality, but if that's the most impressive part of the meal, then I'm questioning the establishment's ability to create a good barbecue experience. I think it's so cool to have so many special barbecue places near me and the ability to try so many, but I'm starting to wonder if the places that stay on the list for four editions start to lose their oomph. Do they become complacent knowing they already have their business and are established? Is there any need to try and push the envelope when you're just a recurring guest on top barbecue lists? Is it a me issue? Is it my fault I went to Burnt Bean a week prior and now I'm trying a place that sells all-day barbecue? With your big brick-and-mortar and your TV screen menus, you're not as hungry as you used to be.
