First time here and we enjoyed our meal. We had a really friendly waitress who worked hard to make sure we had everything we needed. Our group tried sandwiches and breakfast plates and everything was prepared exactly as requested. The ones who asked for crispy bacon were happy and I ordered mine limp and it was just right. He was friendly, attentive, and checked in on us several times throughout the meal. We especially appreciated that he came by a couple of times to offer coffee refills without us having to ask. That kind of attentiveness really makes a difference. The food was very good. The portion sizes felt appropriate for the price, everything arrived at the right temperature, and the flavors were spot on. I ordered the buttermilk pancakes with eggs and sausage, which were delicious. My wife had the scramble, and we also shared a cinnamon roll between the two of us. Every item we tried was flavorful and satisfying. The service was the highlight of the visit, and JR really made the experience pleasant. This is an old-school diner that serves breakfast and lunch. It is very big with plenty of seating. I had the cowboy skillet, and I liked the ingredients, but the tater tot base was definitely getting to me because it was so fried and oily. My wife and I walked into this place thinking we'd enjoy a relaxing breakfast. What we got instead could be taught in culinary schools as a masterclass in disappointment. Let's start with the potatoes--cold. Not "room temp," not "cooled down while chatting," but full-on "fresh from the fridge" cold. I half expected frost. My wife's pancakes came out looking optimistic... and tasted like hope that wasn't fully baked. If you've ever wanted to eat pancake batter that still dreams of becoming a pancake, this is your spot. Then came the omelet. Ah yes--the final blow. I thought I saw a little extra seasoning until I realized it was a hair. And not the "Oh, maybe it fell from my own bald head" kind of hair, but the unmistakably "belongs to someone else and now ruins your appetite for a week" kind. That was it for us. We left before dessert--though I wouldn't have been surprised if the syrup had tried to escape on its own. The food and service were good as always. We only had an issue with one of the servers not having her hair tied back. Every other server or food handler had their hair tied back or were wearing a cap. Luckily she was not our server or I would of had to hurt her feelings and ask for different server. It's probably more of a me problem, as I would have this same reaction at a friend or relatives house if they were serving me food with their hair loose around their face. I do think it is a requirement in all food service establishments that hair is in fact tied back or covered. Come on management a friendly word and a hair tie please. read more

I lunched at the West Adams location and had a great meal except for one thing...I asked for a side salad as a side and instead of a nice bowl of mixed lettuce with a slice of cucumber and some tomatoes maybe, I got a shallow dish with finely chopped garnish with a few croutons. I suspect a plate or cup shattered around the griddle & a sliver of the broken glass flew into my omelette. The bacon was lackluster but overall the meal was great. All meals (without drinks) are all under $10 with only 1 being above. I definitely recommend trying it out. Today we arrived after church at 11:15 am. Even with a packed restaurant the staff worked hard to take care of everyone. Constant bustle. My Waffle had maybe 5 pieces of strawberries so i would say 1 whole strawberry cut up, no strawberry glaze or even whipped cream . I visit this restaurant about every other week sometimes with my wife but mostly by myself and sit at the counter. I like to hear the chatter and sometimes engage with staff or guests also sitting at the counter. For the most part food is average +. Service is generally very good and servers are attentive and friendly. The back of the house is where the issues are. Not much communication and no expedience to get orders out quickly . There is a lot of conversation about personal issues at the front counter and disagreement with management practices. The other day I came in around 7:30 in the morning- not busy yet and set down at counter. There was only one other person and I assumed he was a district manager by the egg patch on his shirt- I have seen him there several times and he always takes up two spots and has a laptop. Not sure what he does as he mostly sits there looking at his computer. Never really engages with staff. That morning I was greeted by an employee and ordered some decaf coffee which they had to make fresh but that was fine. Then another employee came and took my order - nice black young man - he has waited on me before always pleasant. Took my order and immediately called it back to kitchen. The kitchen had a lot of staff but no one seemed interested in starting my order. About the same time another customer came in and also sat at the counter. They placed their order as well- and within a few minutes their food came out. My order had yet to even be started finally my server asked where they were and the line cook finally woke up and prepared my omelette- it was not a good omelette just ok . Then they had to finish the sides and of course the entree was cool. I think there was some conversation going on between my server and kitchen manager- and the DM seemed to be aware of the lackluster performance of the staff that morning but did nothing to address. My server came by several times to followed up on coffee refills but there was nothing said to me from anyone about the poor quality of my experience. The reason for this review is to make management aware and hopefully address the inconsistency of service and food. There is not many options available other than fast food on this area of Temple. I want them to succeed but inconsistent service and food quality will kill this business. Last comment if you come at lunch get a burger- they are the best on the W Adams strip. read more

We were excited for them. Between the chorizo, pico, and spicy mayo, we thought it would be a wonderful taco. Both of our orders were missing half the ingredients. If it weren't for the chorizo, the eggs and potato would have had no flavor. I had to add my own jar salsa to give some freshness. The cinnamon French toast was good. But the cheesy grits tasted like water and had no seasoning. If you order eggs and pancakes/French toast or any traditional breakfast, you're safe. My boyfriend and I dine here every Sunday morning after our workout. We usually get the Almost Healthy Skillet with Hash brown. Food is usually good, service on the other hand is hit or miss. Stopped in to Temple to visit my mom and this is the third visit to this location. As the place was busy, you are asked to seat yourself. We sat in a booth that needed to be cleaned and figured we would be noticed by at least one of the waiters. Instead, we were ignored. If the waiters weren't near the kitchen talking amongst themselves, they would stop and visit with other tables at length. Two waiters stopped and had a conversation with the table behind us. I realize the food industry is stressful and desperately needs people, but after almost 20 minutes without being noticed we got up and left. Living in Temple for 16 years and coming back to visit reminds me of how easy it is to be ignored if you don't look like a local. We are crossing Jimmy"s Egg off our list of places to eat. read more

I went there for the first time today, 11/1/2021. Luckily I read the reviews before entering & saw the post about them not having butter for their pancakes, french toast & waffles. I asked the waiter about this after sitting down & he said he thought they had butter but he'd check. The small packages he brought back to the table were exactly what was posted earlier - vegetable oil - YUCK!! I ordered the Cinnamon French Toast - it was mediocre AT BEST; it didn't even taste sweet. I don't know how French Toast can be messed up, but they did it. Not sure I'll return.
