Roni's is definitely not your typical mac and cheese spot, so go in with an open mind (and maybe lowered cheese expectations). Their mac is lighter on the sauce, and most of the cheese hangs out on top instead of being that creamy, mixed-in style a lot of us are used to. Once you get past that, the flavor is solid. I do like that you can customize it with add-ins -- that part is fun and makes the experience feel more like a "build-your-own comfort bowl." I went when it wasn't busy, so the wait wasn't long, but there was only one person running the whole show: cooking, cashiering, everything. They held it down, but you can definitely tell this is a small operation. Overall, I'd go again, but it's not a "drop everything and get there now" spot for me. A solid choice when you're craving something light pasta, just not the best mac of my life. read more

This is a tough one because the food here is great. Unfortunately this place is incredibly filthy. It hasn't been cleaned in probably a couple weeks, there's a thick layer of dust on everything including the booth benches. We went on a lazy Sunday, were the only ones there. The staff was not busy, the one at the counter was eating her lunch and playing on her phone. It was frustrating to have to clean a table and the booth just to have somewhere to sit. The food was very tasty, the portion size itself was great, but the price was way too high for the small portions. It also is a little strange that the checkout page asks for a tip here. The workers don't take your order, you order at a machine at the wall. They also don't bring it to you, they yell your name for you to come get it. They don't serve you drinks, you get that yourself as well. They don't clean up after you, you throw away your own trash. Not sure what the tip is for. read more

Who would have thought to create a restaurant revolving around macaroni and cheese? This was my first time at my daughter's recommendation and I must say that Roni's did not disappoint. When you first walk up there is a large game of cornhole. There was a couple out there having a blast. When I tell you that my ADHD kicked in real quick as I stepped through the entrance so much that I felt like a kid. "Oooh EVERYTHING" is an understatement. First off, I got distracted by the best of the 90s music. We knew every song that played. Then there was the wall that spoke to me as an artist. It was such a beautiful and whimsical mural. I was in awe for literally 2.5 seconds as I caught the jinga blocks in my peripheral to my left. Now I must take pictures! As I wait for my daughter and her wife to finish there order on the giant tablet kiosk, I swayed and sang Tevin Campbell's 'Can We Talk' to the top of my lungs! When it was my turn to order, I had no clue what I was doing. First, you pick a noodle. Next you pick a cheese, then a meat and if you want a veggie you throw that in there as well. Then comes more toppings! It's like the Chipotle of Mac and Cheese. Add a garlic bread, if you want to, a dessert and a drink. The girl that was at the counter was such a sweetheart and I think she was amused by our singing because she joined in. I'm pretty sure it was her playlist that we were hearing. When we got our food, it was a bowl of picture perfection (kudos to the cook). The first bite was everything I could ask for and more. The cheese was so creamy and it complimented the the twang of the barbecue and brisket. I only wish that the broccoli would have also been cooked in some way but it was still a refreshing addition to the bowl since they were small and raw (gotta get all the veggie vitamins.)! One drawback for myself was that since I don't eat salt, I could definitely taste ALL the salt that was in each heavenly bite. All I needed was a Mountain Dew to wash it all down but, unfortunately, they served coke products. Other than that, it was a wonderful experience to share with my daughter while she was on military leave. I had more than enough left to take home and share with my partner. My daughter and I stopped by last weekend which happened to be there one year anniversary! We had only been here a handful of times but I keep forgetting how tasty the Mac is. It was the perfect, easy meal for my daughter while we were out running errands. She added brisket and bbq sauce to it! The portion was perfect and the price was decent too. I am not sure of this place, I think I would need to come check it out again. When we entered the place there were no customers but 4 or 5 children from toddler to maybe 10 year old running around and dirtying tables by sitting at them and laying their heads at the tables and playing on them. Getting refills of drinks at the fountain machine and playing at it. We soon realized it was the workers children and she looked horrified when the kids were acting a little crazy and the toddler was in the high chair screaming and crying. I sympathized with her being a mom also but changed my mind to sit and eat there. We ended up eating in the car. She messed up our orders due to her daughter kept bugging her while making them. The food was good and probably better if the toppings were correct. When we visit again we will need to try it again and hope it's not like this every time. read more

I've been waiting awhile for this one and let me tell you the hype around this place is all it really is. There was only one gentleman as the acting cashier and cook. He helped us when the ordering machines didn't accept any of my cards. The place was very modern and clean other than that not very inviting for 1st time customers. No real clear instructions on how to order except when you just walk up to a machine. They also ask for a tip which is weird because tips are for servers and there aren't any so yeah. The food wasn't the worst but wasn't the best. The cost for 2 people will be at least $30 so come prepared. The Mac and cheese bowl looked amazing when it came out only to realize that the noodles were somewhat coated in cheese and then toasted to get the melted cheese on top. The grilled cheese sandwich wasn't the best look bread was kinda flimsy. The noodles were cold and don't get me started on the "brisket". The broccoli cheese on the side would have been so much better if the broccoli was steamed better or more or at all. It was crunch and hard. My overall for this establishment is 3 out of 5. I'd return to this place if I needed a mac and cheese fix quick and didn't want to cook it myself. read more

2nd time trying Roni's I also tried the PX location and it was awesome so I decided to try the HH location and that was a hit as well. Takes a while to order for 4 people on one kiosk but food came out relatively fast and all of it was really good. Great little place, fantastic addition to our CenTx restaurants. Only slight complaint is the veggies could be softened, cooked a bit before adding to mac I understand that's probably their process but that would take it up next level. read more

I asked about a military discount. Manager working said, "NO! Frank took that away, cause this is a military town!!! SHAME ON YOU FRANK! My food was wretched! When I asked for a refund, the manager got snippy with me, told me she didn't like my tone of voice.
