Wait staff is friendly. Food is fine. However, the new menus have no prices. I don't like not knowing prices when I'm ordering anything. For those on a budget, surprises on the bill is not welcome. The place is cluttered.Waitress was behind the counter stuffing food into her mouth. The conversations they were having on the phone were personal and not kept private. Greens were straight up nasty, liver was over cooked (dogs liked it), the sautéed onions were raw, the meatloaf was sliced and grilled, so it was so dry it was also inedible. Gotta say the food is good but you have to get past the day care atmosphere. We went there tonight for our usual tenderloins which are very good. But there must have been 10 kids in there - half of them crying. (These are not customoers kids) The owner screaming from one room to the other telling the kids to behave was almost worse than the kids crying. I've been in there many time before, always kids either in the playpen or watching cartoons. I get it to an extent but tonight was just over the top. $30 for two sandwiches and two drinks and we literally got up, got our own to go boxes and took our sandwiches to the car to eat them. I see all these negative reviews and honestly I don't get it. Like most fat cooks I am picky as hell. Maws has always been tasty, hot and the Silva family are just plain old nice people. I see folks calling them racists on here, smh. I have seen folks from all walks of life there over the years and never witnessed anything but kindness. Turns out I was wrong in this case. The food was frighteningly horrible. I ordered for dine in and I couldn't finish my meal. As I sat there and ate, and began looking around at all the dirt, the food went from frighteningly horrible to nightmarishly horrendous! It Conjured up a hair. I tossed my food and left immediately. Customer service is horrible. Went here to grab a quick breakfast. Upon arriving not many ppl was in there. We placed our order and begin to wait. About 10 mins later another party of 4 came in and placed their order. After waiting about 40mins the table after us got their food so we ask how long before our order. The lady in the kitchen said they was working on it they only have 1 waffle maker? Like our order of simple eggs and sausage is taking 40 minutes because you have 1 waffle maker, that take only 2 minutes to make a waffle? She had an attitude so we just ended up leaving. It's not called Ma's Place for nothin'! The menu is just like the food I grew up eating from my Momma's and Grandma's kitchen! I heard the burgers were good so we stopped on the way back to Dallas. When I tell you this burger looked just like Mom's I ain't kidding! They shape the burger patties by hand! Not sure what the seasoning is other than salt and pepper but man this meat just melted in my mouth! The bun is greased enough to be tasty and the shredded lettuce somehow absorbs some of the beef flavor so every bite is scrumptious! I had tater tots instead of fries (which are homemade as well) because that is what I ate from childhood until now. Don't see that changing anytime soon either! If tots are on the menu then I'm eating them! The servers and cashier are super nice and they understand and accommodate any reasonable request you may have. I enjoyed my visit. On the way out the door, I caught a glimpse of their chicken-fried steak... HUGE!
