Moved to Killeen 8 years ago. We love this restaurant! Excited when it reopened after the fire. We take family members every time they come to town. The chicken-fried steak is my favorite. The large order covers a plate and makes at least three meals for me later in the week with takeout. The fish dinners and liver and onions are family favorites. We traveled to this area to visit one of my sisters & she took us to Hallmark. It's a quaint little Restaraunt & our service, Jessie, was super friendly, personable & patient with us. We loved her. Now when my sister said they had good food, I did NOT expect it to be soooo delicious...yummy!!! I ordered the smothered pork chops & the serving was HUGE! I had enough for 2-1/2 meals! It was scrumptious! I loved everything, especially the onions they grilled (or however they cooked them). It was clear that whoever was in the kitchen absolutely knew what they were doing & they cooked with some extra helpings of love in there! My sisters had the fried catfish & I tried theirs & was completely blown away! It was truly one of the BEST fried catfish I have had since I've been in Texas...& that's saying a lot because I've tried a LOT of different places & my hips prove it every time I look in the mirror...lol! The crispness, the lightness, the perfectly seasoned batter & fish were above & beyond! OMGosh! I can't WAIT to come back...even though the drive is 2 hours away, it will definitely be worth it! First time back since the renovation. I like the new setup but I kinda liked the countertop that's now gone. It reminded me of a diner. I was greeted with a smile after seating myself. Today's special was the all you can eat Schnitzel with purple cabbage and fried potatoes. The meal came out hot and fast. The Schnitzel had a good gravy. A few more onions than I prefer but wouldn't prevent me from ordering it again. The potatoes and cabbage were good too. Although it was the "all you can eat" special, I was done after one plate. Overall its was a good meal. I just wish I could've had more room. read more

I always enjoy going to Hallmark. I've only eaten breakfast there and it's always delicious. Biscuits and sausage gravy with a couple of eggs. Or eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and pancakes. My favorite place for breakfast. read more

I am so glad that they are back open. You just don't understand how devastated I was when the fire happened. I love the new look. The decorations are so adorable. The new menus are easier to read also. They have more wait staff which is also a plus. I am always pleased with the food. Still working my way through the menu. I have lived in Killeen since March 1977 and I have never ate at the Hallmark Restaurant because it's always crowded and hard to get a parking space ! Same problem at Red Lobster and Golden Coral !!! read more

The food is OK, the portions were average size. Our waitress was super friendly. I decided to have some dessert thank goodness I was the only one, the slice was very small. It consisted of four bites and cost $6.50 for a tiny piece of pie. I don't think I have ever been served a small piece of pie like that. **We came again today! The coffee was better! Our server was Jennifer and she was bubbly and smiley and efficient. I had the garden omelette but I cut out three ingredients and added cheese. Never frozen) with grits and eggs over easy. My grits were phenomenal. My eggs were perfectly cooked and runny at the same time. My chicken fried steak and gravy were excellent! It was very large piece of chicken fried steak to boot! Our server Jesse was prompt and nice and met all of our needs with a smile. My husband had pancakes eggs and sausage. The pancakes were enormous and delicious and everything was cooked perfectly. If I complained about one thing it would be the coffee I didn't end up drinking mine. It tasted like coffee flavored water. The orange juice was okay. But I would come back here again and again for the food. Who needs coffee and orange juice!? We came here once before a while back and tried their fried chicken which we had heard so much about. It was absolutely amazing as well. We know now that it has a name. But the name of the restaurant is a small sign below a giant sign that just says Restaurant. We thought that was funny. But with or without a name it's definitely a restaurant worth coming to. This place is a gem. Hurry up and go here. Ignore the other chain restaurants and other more popular cafes. The food was absolutely incredible and exactly how you would imagine a movie-esque diner plate would taste. Smells of toast and scrambled eggs wafts throughout the establishment and makes you want to stay for seconds. If you're a picky, prickly and plucky person- this isn't your spot. So wanted breakfast in Killeen during a recent visit to FT Hood. Stoped at the Hallmark. The moto is where friends meet and eat. This place is a mom and pops style cafe, nothing much to look at inside or out. Lots of local people here the place is almost at fully capacity. My waitress name was Kim she's a typical Texas gem! I order the Alamo special it's scrambled eggs with cheese and chorizo. It was really good. The scrambled eggs were fluffy and flavorful. Went for breakfast on Sunday. So this was a random breakfast. Expectations were low already from the outside but hunger calls. We went in and it's seat yourself. No problems there. We sit the table is not clean. Thinking the waiter will come buh and give it a wipe down real quick we sat. But that didn't happen. We just wiped the egg off the table wit the menu and kept it G. Got our drinks that went well. Ordered the food. That went cool. I got the breakfast tacos probably shouldn't have did that. They was not a hit. Extra regular but I ate them. ‍ the country skillet was regular and it seemed like it missed some flavor. But overall it was decent. It was cheap too. Hallmark is one of kind here in Killeen. Outdated in appearance, people stare at you when you walk in, and you seat yourself when you walk in. If you get past that, you're in for a treat. The ladies are very friendly, and if you're nice and respectful, they will be extra friendly and make you feel at home. I like Hallmark because you get what you give. You go to a lot of restaurants and if the customer is rude and obnoxious and the waitresses have to take it but not at Hallmark, they will respectfully ask you to leave and if you don't leave, more than likely the patrons eating inside will remove you. Now the best part is the food of course, the cooks are amazing back there with the quality of what feels like home cooked meals. This is such a delicious inexpensive place to eat! It hits the spot! This French toast was around $6 and it is a plate full! The waitresses were so kind and attentive checking on us! We moved nearby and I drive by Hallmark everyday so I figured we would give it a try. My Mother and I went in with two kids and stood around for a few minutes before getting someone's attention to see a menu. The woman seemed irritated by my presence and said someone could help me, even though she was just standing there. I walked in the direction she pointed to the next woman who made eye contact and looked away. Geez, I should've turned and walked out at this moment. Anyway, the woman proceeded to try and look busy for a minute before finally turning back and asking what we needed WHILE rolling her eyes. I'm truly stunned at the number of places I've been with rude employees who work FOR tips. Doesn't anyone realize that? If you're rude to customers and act like you don't need them, they will leave.. that's finally what we did after being spoken to like that by the second person in this restaurant. It's a shame because we love trying new places and frequent them when they're good. The restaurant looks like it could've used the customers honestly. It's not in good shape and it had a few questionable looking people hanging around outside when we walked out. I would like to be hopeful and say it was just a bad day, but to be treated like this by TWO employees before even being sitted is just unacceptable. Especially when there are so many places to go. We like to have breakfast here but the last 2 days we're having second thoughts. The server we had Sunday came and took our drink order 2 waters and a coffee. She never did bring the coffee. We did hear her say she wished it was 2 o'clock so she could leave. We gave her our food order and I watched her for 5 minutes walking around and never turned in our food order. Three stars instead of 5 as I went for the ALL YOU CAN EAT CATFISH FRIDAY. It was my first time there and I only went for the Catfish. I Was disappointed in it. It had a very very weak flavor, the breading was not that tasty and to thick on it. It was kind of flavorless for Catfish. I Grew up in Texas and Have ate Catfish Many Many different places in Texas as well as other states and places. DO NOT ORDER THE COLE SLAW... It just isn't good they way they make it.. For the best Cole Slaw.. stick to KFC.. Theirs is really lacking a flavor and seems like it was probably made Thursday or Wednesday for sale on Friday, Another Disappointment.. Corn Balls come with it but you only get 2 about the size of a quarter with the all you can eat tasteless fish. The best thing about the ALL YOU CAN EAT CATFISH dinner was actually the Pinto Beans. I Will never order Catfish in this place again. I will probably try their Chicken Fried Steak IF I go there again. My Wife being raised mostly in S.
