We stopped by this little gem on our way to San Antonio and I was eager to try their montecristo sandwich which was absolutely delicious. I also got a sangria and rose swirl and that was pretty good too. We felt welcomed and enjoyed our short stop.

This place is next door to the Chupacabra bar. You go here and order then they'll deliver it directly to you in the bar. The food was really good and came out hot and fresh. Got the half order monte Cristo and the thickness of the bread makes it so that's plenty.

Food is amazing. I had fish and chips for lunch and the Monte cristo for dinner. They don't have a sit down dinning area but the brewery next door does. They bring your food to you there. Service is great! Friendly people and fast. The restaurant area is a walk up counter for carry out orders.

Enjoyed the patty melt from the chupacabra! The food was pretty decent and they give you a number to hold on to while you take a seat at the bar next door. Price is reasonable and we didn't wait too long for the food to come out!

Two little tiny chicken strips and a bag of chips for $6.99. The place is going down hill fast. Bar still has great variety of beer and wine

Went here for a burger. We came here when they first opened and we were not really impressed. But wanted to give them another try. There's no ice for the fountain drinks, you think a restaurant/bar would have that fixed. The burgers were good, I couldn't even eat all of it. The fries were crispy and hot. The restaurant side was not busy at 5 o'clock and it's a little dark with its black and grey interior. Would definitely consider takeout next time.

Food was cold in the middle, beer was flat and the service was horrible. Needs a new manager, if you ask me!!!

They were…read moreopen later, well-rated, and personally recommended by a friend's brother who lives in Salado. It definitely lived up to the hype. Johnny's has three dining areas: a traditional side, a livelier side, and an outdoor section. We chose the traditional side, which was calm, low-key, and perfect for a relaxed meal. For food, we ordered a brisket baked potato, a brisket plate, and a BBQ combo plate, along with the jalapeño bacon-wrapped appetizer. The appetizer was excellent, not too spicy unless you hit a seed, and packed with flavor. One detail we really loved: the BBQ sauce is served warm. It may seem small, but it makes a big difference, and you can tell they care about the experience. The brisket was tender, not greasy, and not dry; exactly how Texas brisket should be. The baked potato wasn't a massive "Texas-size" portion, but it was just the right size and very satisfying. There were a lot of locals dining there, which is always a good sign. Overall, Johnny's delivered great BBQ, great atmosphere options, and a solid local vibe. We'd definitely go back!

The pulled pork was much better than the brisket sandwich. The brisket was very fatty and I didn't eat it. I found it odd that barbecue sauce wasn't served with the food or on the table either. I wouldn't make the trip back.

Late post ... The Stagecoach Inn Restaurant in Salado is an…read moreabsolute gem. From the moment you walk into this historic landmark building, you can feel the charm and character of Texas history all around you. The food was fabulous, thoughtfully prepared, flavorful, and served with care. Every bite reflected quality and tradition. And the service? Outstanding. Our waitress, Paityn S., was a young woman of many talents, attentive, knowledgeable, gracious, and effortlessly professional. She truly elevated our entire dining experience. Thank you for the private tour of the upstairs and thank you to management for helping me celebrate my birthday by giving us each a piece of cake. Under 20 bucks for lunch menu and a soda or tea.

We arrived early and waited a few minutes before being greeted. The host seemed visibly upset, which was a bit awkward. After being seated, we waited about 20 minutes before our server, Paityn, came over and asked if anyone had helped us yet -- we told her no. She apologized and mentioned there was confusion in the kitchen during a shift change, which we understood and were patient about. The deviled eggs were good -- honestly the highlight of the meal. After that, it went downhill. The Brussels sprouts were chewy and inedible. The side salad was fine, and the carrots were good. My husband and I both ordered ribeyes. Mine was supposed to be a 14 oz cooked medium, but it was clearly not 14 oz -- most of it was thin and overcooked to well done, while the remaining portion was completely raw. I couldn't finish it. It was a terrible steak. The mac and cheese looked promising but was mediocre in flavor and came out so hot it burned my tongue. Service was just as disappointing. After dropping off the food, our server never came back to check on us, refill water, or ask how anything was. When the bill came (around $150), I politely shared the issues and suggested relaying them to the chef. Instead of addressing it, I was told, "I wish you would have said something sooner." I explained I would have if anyone had checked on us. That was the end of the interaction. Overall, really disappointing food and service. Would not return or recommend.
