We visited Chupacabra Kitchen while in Texas visiting friends. They had a HUGE selection of beers on draft, literally something for everyone. They even offered a draft root beer which was super impressive! I love seeing places offer more non alcoholic options. We all ordered burgers and they were excellent! Kind of a weird set up if you are not familiar with this place. You order in one one door up from the restaurant, you get a number then you sit at your table and they then bring the food out. In the main area is where you are able to order your drinks. Very large beer and wine selection to choose from. A dog friendly place which I was surprised you were able to bring our dog into the restaurant. Figured we would be sitting on a patio area to eat. They do have two seater tables outside wheels are big enough for beer or wine and an appetizer I would not want to eat a whole meal out there for two. They have a lot of merchandise for sale, also have lockers to leave you mug in and other items, membership is pricey for $200.00 a year not sure what you get bit not interested on my part. Wife had the Bacon Cheese Burger and she could not stiop raving about it and telling me how great it was and the best burger she has had in a long time. I had the Philly Cheese steak, which was very good. The only disappointment was that the fries were pea warm like they had been sitting there waiting for the sandwich to be done. Would expect them to be coming out of the basket as the sandwich is being made. They do give a military discount for everything you buy even at the bar. read more

Wowzers! we headed out for our wedding anniversary and saw that they had monte cristos and some tasty sounding brussels spouts on the menu and let me say they have made fans for life. the monte cristo was (dare I say ) better than my memory of Bennigans-- not greasy and you were able to taste every flavor. I am drooling writing about it. the Brussels were soo flavorful and such a burst of freshness. these two dishes had a perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and classic. the drinks are from a small batch company called boots, or you can get your food next door in the bar. read more

I love this place. It's really only sandwiches but they are good ones. Casual environment. It's technically a bar, with some kids lol. It can be a little slow sometimes but just depends on the crowd I think. The only thing I can't recommend is the soda fountain machine. I haven't found a drink I like yet on there. read more

We used to frequent this place a few years ago and loved it. The food was good, the beers were even better, and the vibes were great. We went back 3 days ago... drove an hour from north of Waco to go back. And to say I was disappointed is an understatement. We've always love the brussel sprouts and the fried pickle spears, and those are actually still delicious. But the rest of the food was barely mediocre, and to top it off, I have salmonella from my chicken cordon blue sandwich. So not only is this place barely good, it's also not handling food safely and getting people sick. The cherry on top was all the flat beers. The service was quick and friendly. I would recommend not eating inside though. Atmosphere was cold and dim. The food itself made me think of a high school cafeteria burger. Went here for a burger. We came here when they first opened and we were not really impressed. But wanted to give them another try. There's no ice for the fountain drinks, you think a restaurant/bar would have that fixed. The burgers were good, I couldn't even eat all of it. The fries were crispy and hot. Celebrating National Cheeseburger Day with burgers from Chupa Kitchen. We've been hanging out at Chupacabra for quite a few years, the kitchen is next door to the pub. Great selection of beers on tap and wines by the glass/bottle. Staff is always super friendly and welcoming. Check out the photos...today we ordered a mushroom Swiss burger with fries and a bacon cheeseburger with onion rings. Both were a 1/2 lb of greasy goodness! The only drawback is you can't order food from the kitchen at the bar. You have to go next door to place your order, but they will bring it to your table. read more

Not sure how this place has the lower rating it has, but the employees are always very polite and kind. Their burgers with the burger sauce are fantastic. Fried and onion rings are great. They had a Monte Cristo on the menu and I love trying those since Bennigans isn't around anymore and Cheddars is the only other Monte Cristo I know of. This powdered sugar sprinkler, ham and cheese fried sammich was very tasty (and individual little jelly jar was a nice touch !). Plenty of TX kitch to buy for out of state relatives. On the way back from Austin after Memorial Day weekend and we decided to stop in Salado for lunch. We had been before but my wife found this little place to eat as we were driving by. They had a patio so it was perfect since we had our Bernedoodle with us. As far as the atmosphere it's a small town western vibe. Which I like. The menu was a number of sandwiches and salads for the most part with a number of beers. If I wasn't driving I would have loved to have some. The lady working there was really nice and the food came out quick. We ordered a shrimp sandwich and our girls spit the chicken tenders. My only regret about this place was that I didn't order a whole shrimp po-boy for myself. I had to split it. lol. The bread came out toasted just perfectly. The shrimp were fried just right with the right amount of remoloude sauce. The fries were also cooked just right. Visiting longtime friends in Salado in November, ended up there almost by accident. The Stagecoach Inn, across the street was in some state of closure so dropped in with friends from Austin....pleasantly surprise with the service and quality of food...excellent! The first clue was another party from Austin who owned his own restaurants and drove all the way just to dine at Chupacabra Kitchen. We were headed up to DFW from Austin and wanted to try something local instead of a usual drive-through. Going down I 35, I didn't have time to read all the reviews, so I took a risk and tried this place. To be fair, not much is open on a Monday evening in this tiny tourist town. We went to the restaurant side. There is also a bar next door which is owned by the same establishment. I think you can order food from the restaurant to be delivered to the bar because people kept going with orders over there. When we walked in, it was a counter order deal. There was a pretty big menu, so I asked the teenagers what people like. Other reviews have said it already, the place is definitely run by teenagers. They weren't rude per se, just not that friendly and or helpful. When we went to the seating area, it was pretty dark and weird back there. It's this windowless room behind the counter. We were the only table on a Monday night. It seemed fairly clean and I was OK with eating there. If I were just reviewing the food, I would give it a four star. Some people will argue with me, but I think the location and general area the restaurant is in matters. This is a small town, so you don't always get the best quality. But the brussel sprouts we ordered were just as good as any that I've eaten in the Austin area. The sweet potato fries and the regular fries were just as good. My daughter's burger was average but it was a kids burger so I wasn't expecting that much. I thought the Montecristo was well executed and gave me fond memories of Bennigan's.
