Stopped in as we were staying nearby for a weekend get away. There were not a lot of choices nearby and this was super convenient. It was what I would call a typical small city diner. The service was good and the food had a nice southern flare. I had the bacon cheeseburger and added avocado. All the ingredients were super fresh and it really hit the spot. As my side I paid extra to have loaded fries. In my opinion the burger was the highlight of the meal. My wife had the loaded baked potato. Their ranch dressing was very tasty with the potato. Not a destination restaurant but in my opinion it was the one and only restaurant within a 10 minute drive. read more

What a cute little diner in this historical building. The food is ok - it's a 3 star on food and I'd skip the burgers but the chili was good. I wish they made fresh fries and the burger meat seemed like it was boiled- a nice grill searing you could help in presentation and flavor. The service here was excellent. We had a young teenage waitress the out performed all servers in my recent memory. For maintaining the historical value and above average service rating bumps to 4/5. read more

We stopped at this restaurant off the main street in Moody on a Monday afternoon. The hostess/waitress, Mari, was very helpful with items off the menu. She was very sweet and friendly as well. My wife and I when traveling on vacation look for small town cafe/diners because there is a good chance of finding tasty food and good service and a hometown feeling. The Double Sky did not disappoint. We had a wonderful waitress although we were strangers, she treated us like family. Wife had the brisket baked potato and she could not have been more happier with it. There was a lot "mmm's this so good" from her side of the table. I had the best BLT that I had eaten in along time. It was loaded with bacon goodness. I highly recommend that if you are seeing this post that the Double Sky is worth going out of the way and stopping by for a bite! read more

A quintessential diner in small-town Texas. We came for dinner on a Friday night as we were staying at a location nearby. Service was very fast and friendly. It is hard to pass up chicken fried anything, so I opted for the chicken fried steak sandwich with fries. Everything was delicious - prepared upon ordering, no heat lamps needed here. Hidden Jewel! The prices are better than other restaurants in the surrounding cities. Everything I've eaten there has been consistently tasty, best catfish anywhere. Aside from their great menu, they have crazy good daily/weekly specials and their homecooked specialty sides are outside the culinary norm. Service has always been quick with pleasant servers. The dining area and restrooms are always clean and the dining atmosphere is yester-year quaint. The owner is welcoming and genuinely appreciative for our patronage. We've never been disappointed eating there and that's saying a lot from a guy that loves a good dining experience! read more

So, the better half and I were on a road trip and opted to do some Yelp Diving and find someplace out of the norm. Double Sky was our winner! Great little place that is worth a little detour, particularly if you are a fan of chicken fried steak or fried catfish. I had the former, and this was a CFS worth driving to. Hand battered, with a good crunch, a bit of chewiness (to remind you what's in there) and just the right amount of gravy. Waaaay better than so many "best" CFS's out there. Sides were a mixed bag -- fries were sufficient but no more than that (exactly what our server told me), green beans were very subpar (no flavor, limp -- takes some work to make 'em this boring), broccoli & rice casserole was tasty. Blackened salmon salad was also good, with a more than generous portion of fish. Service was outstanding and friendly, and prices were very reasonable. I'm pretty sure we'll make another detour to Double Sky next time we're in the area -- check it out. read more

Real gem of a spot in small town Moody Texas. Good food, service, and atmosphere. Dark rich bbq sauce on a sloppy pulled brisket sandwich with jalapeños. I used lots of napkins but it was worth the mess. Fresh iced tea always a plus. Sincerely friendly service makes you feel like a regular. Next time I'm in the area I'll be back. read more

Very good food here. We got the shrimp , catfish and the chicken fried steak. All served hot and by Nancy who was very friendly and made good suggestions on what to order. Excellent cook there he came out to say hi young "kid" that made everything with pride. So refreshing Wanted the pies and cheesecake but too full. Should have taken some to go home... We stopped in for lunch while staying close by. The hours on google maps was wrong and said they were closed but thankfully they were wrong. We had a great lunch! The chicken and dumplings special was very good with shredded chicken! My husband had the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes and okra. All three kid meals were great! Would highly recommend! I tried the buffalo chicken sandwich.......it was very delicious. The service was spotty but I feel this is due to the restaurant being less than a week old. We were pleasantly surprised with this diner. The service was excellent, friendly, and on-point. Wife had a bacon cheeseburger that must have had a half pound patty and they even throw the buns on the grill. I had the chicken fried steak sandwich that overlapped the bun all the way around. We also ordered the fried pickles and they were the best we have ever had. Small town restaurant that exceeded expectations, we will be back! Can't go wrong with anything you order. I have had the CFS, burger, and fried catfish/shrimp (my favorite) and they are all delicious. This is a hidden gem right off of 317 in Moody. It's worth the drive for a good meal and a VERY reasonable price. read more

After being cooped up for 8 days during the 2021 Texas Deep Freeze, we made a run to town for lunch. My husband got the chicken fried steak and I ate chicken fried chicken. Highly recommend the mashed potatoes and fried okra. Great prices too. We will definitely be back for more. read more

They were to provide meals for Friday night dinner, Saturday lunch, and Saturday evening dinner. Here is how it went. Due to weather storms our attendance was reduced significantly, Friday evening we only had 13 in one area and 29 in the other. They did not provide enough food to feed the group and was short with the amount provided. When I spoke to the staff they immediately called the owner and yes they later show up with more food. By then it was too late, most people had left the dining area and went away hungry... Saturday for lunch they were to feed 135 people. due to weather we had a total of 82 people at the event. We provided our own Taco bar and had we not done this we would have ran out of food about half way into service. Our taco bar never ran out of food, however Rio did run out of some of the food during the service. Saturday evening there were only about 75 people to serve, again we planned on 120, they ran out of food half way into service. I did not get to eat nor did my wife due to NO FOOD. So a large number of people did not even get to eat due to once again not enough food. Today when I spoke to the owner "Ms. Jonya Williams, to let her know I was disappointed with the amount of food she provided. She informed me that we did not tell her that there were going to be adult men at the event and that there should have been food left over. I informed her that we paid for 120 people and she did not even provide enough food for the 75. How do you underestimate that much. I have been in food service in the past and had never ran out of food when catering an event. You always over plan so you don't run out of food. I feel for $4,000 plus, yes I said $4,000 plus we were ripped off and while speaking to Ms. Jonya Williams, the owner she never once provided suggestion to make things right. All she would say is was the amount of time she has been in business and that everything was our fault. My suggestion is that if you want a company to feed your people and have everyone actually get to eat I WOULD NOT SUGGEST Rio Brazos Catering from Waco, TX. P.S. her excuse for charging so much is they claim to make everything from scratch. The pasta was store bought, the finger food may have been hand made. I always thought I would get what I paid for. Not in this case I got nothing that I expected for what I paid for. I expected everyone to be fed and not be hungry in the end. Her staff was great and did an awesome job and we were happy with them.

The process was super simple. I found her on yelp. She hit me back probably w/in 15-20 minutes. I wanted a nice meal made for my wedding anniversary. Year 11 married for Hubby and I. I knew I wanted steak and potatoes. She came up w/the chimmichurri (which I knew I loved), zuppa tuscana and infused strawberry shortcake. She and her assistant/sous chef came over a little bit early (I was a little late ) and she was just awesome! Very warm, personable and knows what she's doing. They were ein my kitchen working their magic and the smell of mouth watering food filled the house. The soup was done first. Hubby basically melted into the chair after his first bite. Seriously! It was flavorful and light abs presented in a very simple but comfort food way. 10 out of 10! A bit later the steak, loaded potato abs brussel sprouts came out. BOOM!! Looked good as f*ck and tasted out of this world! The steak was seasoned well w/out being salty or over done. There was a slight non spicy zing from the chimichurri. Also need to note the chimmichurri tasted so fresh, and flavorful I wanted to eat just the chimnichurri w/a spoon or slather it on EVERYTHING!! I definitely ate at least have of my brussel sprouts w/this magical, fresh, herby sauce.... because it was that damn good! Eating this had me thinking up schemes... ahem plans to get Layha to stay and cook more... or everything . I can and end very much enjoy cooking... but now I feel like I can't go back to my own cooking (woman womp). Oh well. I already booked Chef Layha for New Year, my birthday and Mother's day before the meal was completed. She also made these cute and small bourbon infused strawberry shortcakes. Real strawberries. Simple delicious, and juicy flavor. NOT SOGGY at all. Not overly sweet. Flippin awesome ! She also made some rotelle nachos for my kiddos when they get out of school later. I'll be tasting that very soon. Probably right after I hit the post button . Either way Chef Layha has some real talent. She made my day as well as my husband's. Her food was impeccable. She cleaned up my kitchen after the meal and there's plenty extra food. We're going to enjoy this food the rest of this weekend. For real!! I'm so looking forward to our next meal(s) from her. I hope others catch on to her talent... but a tiny selfish side of me is hoping I get to keep her to myself. Sorry not sorry

We had quite a few songs that weren't your normal song requests and he was more than accommodating. The best part of having Aaron as our Dj was how much he rolled with the flow the day of. It was raining the day of our wedding and unfortunately the tent was leaking Into the area where he was supposed to set up. Our ceremony was delayed over an hour so it cut into a lot of our dancing time. He was able to set up in a different location no problem. After we finished all the ceremonial items I gave Aaron the thumbs up and he immediately kicked up the music and got everyone dancing for the 45 minutes or so that we had. I felt like even though time was short all the songs we really wanted were played and everyone had a great time. Would DEFINITELY recommend Aaron for your wedding or special event.
