It offers sandwiches, meats (chicken, brisket, ribs, sausage, chopped beef, ham, or turkey) by the pound or in combination plates, and desserts. From slaw and mac n cheese to peach cobbler and banana pudding, the accompaniments are BBQ classics though you can also get nachos and tacos here too. I stopped by for a brisket sandwich. At $14 with chips included, it wasn't cheap, but it was absolutely worth it. For starters, the sandwich was sizeable, a two-hander if there ever was one. It was also very tasty. The moist, smoky brisket was among the best I've ever had, and it paired well with pickles and onions. Though the meat delivered plenty of flavor, the housemade sauce added a welcome tang. R & S may not be as big, as well-appointed, as storied, or as well-known as some of Waco's other BBQ establishments, but if you're coming for the food above all, you can't go wrong here. read more

This place has fantastic bbq! Unfortunately I didn't get a picture. We tried sliced brisket, links,ribs, green beans, and chili beans. Everything had great flavor. The meat was incredibly juicy and the portions were huge. We didn't try the sauce because the meat was so good, it didn't need it. Everything is very clean and the owner was very friendly. I am not even sure where to begin! Food or the owners? Both AMAZING. We stopped here after leaving our only child at Baylor. We live in California and consider ourselves foodies. The husband is from TX originally, so can be pretty picky about BBQ. The food was amazing! The ribs were so tender and falling off the bone, the sides were all fantastic! I got so full so fast, we actually took our left overs as we headed back to the airport because I couldn't leave this amazing food. Sharon asked us how we liked it and made sure we're were good throughout our meal. After we finished we started talking to Richard and Sharon about leaving our daughter, where we were from, etc. Sharon asked if she could say a prayer for our daughter and us. Being from CA, this is new to me, but in no way did I under appreciate her amazingly kind gesture. She held hands with us and said the most amazing prayer. Brought me to tears, after I asked if I could hug her. The hug was genuine and warm, felt like family. So go for the best food or the nicest people....just go! read more

Couldn't have enjoyed this experience more! The owner Sharon was working the counter when we came in around 5:20. They close at 6 but she was just as gracious as if we'd walked in earlier. We were the only people dining in at the time. They were sold out of ribs but they found two for my 5 year old and threw in some Mac and cheese for free! (Don't worry we tipped extra) Fall off the bone...we all snuck bites. The chopped beef sandwich was HUGE and so delicious. Some of the best chopped beef I've had. The brisket was fork tender with very little fat. The brisket tacos were also HUGE--four tacos. The turkey breast was moist, not dry at all. Strong smoke flavor on the turkey since they use mesquite in their smoker. The owner Richard came out to check on us and chat a bit. So kind all around. The place was clean and we felt like family. Overall five stars based on kind service, prices, delicious flavor, portions, cleanliness. Wish I lived closer! read more

Great barbecue! We're from CA and we were in visiting San Antonio for a conference. We decided to drive out to Fort Worth after the conference to see our daughter since we were in Texas. We decided to stop in Waco and try this place for lunch. We both had the brisket, mac and cheese, potato salad and sweet tea as per most of the reviewers recommended. Everything was delicious. The owners were very nice. Our only complaint was we didn't have room for a piece of one of the delicious looking cakes they had. 10/10 Loved it! read more

We had the family pack, which was plenty of food for 4 people. We tried the chicken, brisket, turkey, and links, as well as the potato salad and mac & cheese. The mac was excellent (really, really, really good), with lots of flavor and a little kick of spice. The links were especially good as well. The brisket had good flavor but was a bit dry for my taste, but honestly, everything else was so good, I'm going to assume it was a fluke and try again next time. We'll definitely go back. read more
