A somewhat well hidden best BBQ joint in Waco. I used my google map with putting Frekin Gud Bbq and went right to it. Let me tell you, I had the Saturday Beef Smoke Ribs and I know BBQ. Born in KC and that is great BBQ and Asheville with its BBQ. Ok the verdict is in the best-smoked Beef Ribs, I have ever had. OMG JAH read more

I'm from Iowa and was in Waco for business. This place was recommended to me by a guy I was working with (thanks David). To me, good BBQ means tender, fall off the bone, slooooow cooked meat. And this place nails it. Then I add the sauce... Never first. And the sauce was quite good too. Both the regular and hot versions. This place was hard to spot from the road but I was glad I didn't give up looking for it. It's behind a corner gas station in a strip mall. I was met with a friendly greeting full of southern charm. This is a simple place set up for eating good Texas BBQ. I didn't get the baked potato but saw it and will try that next time. I went with the 3 meat plate consisting of brisket, ribs, and plain sausage. The ribs literally fell off the bone nearly by the force of gravity alone. The brisket was cut with a plastic fork tender. The sausage was cooked perfectly. Nice snap to it. They ain't lying. Freken Gud BBQ indeed. read more

Name speaks for itself. Fall off the bone StLoius ribs, moist brisket, hot bbq sauce a perfect balance. Love this place

Holy shit this place was good! Best BBQ I've had in a longtime. Will be back to annihilate some beef ribs in the future!

Excellent bbq, friendly people, and the prices are comparable to other bbq places, and twice as good.

Expensive food, even for BBQ, with skimpy servings. Parking lot was under construction and located on a busy intersection in a bad part of town. read more

Three meat plate was big enough to share and delicious. Ordered and with in minutes had that yummy meal in front of us but don't forget that peach cobbler! read more

Frekin Gud Bbq - Coming from south Texas this is definitely a great stop. Brisket tender, but the peach cobbler with ice cream made it all perfecto - Barbeque Near Me - Bellmead, Texas

Not a big BBQ fan but loved their ribs and brisket not too smoky and has great flavor, service was good and the ribs did I say were fall off the bones love them! Sauce is homemade, Bread is from the bag, potato salad is Chunky with just the right seasoning! read more

Frekin Gud BBQ says it all in the name! I highly recommend giving this place a try. Every time I'm in this area I try to stop-in for delicious meats and great (homemade) sides. I also can't leave without having a serving peach cobbler - no matter how full I may already be. The family packs are great when we have a big group, but one of my personal favorites are the pulled-pork nachos!!! All the meats are moist and well flavored...we have never been disappointed in anything from this establishment! In fact, we had them smoke our Christmas ham last year and that was excellent too. In my opinion, Frekin Gud BBQ is worth the trip from Austin...I'm already looking forward to my next plate! read more

Took some time to find this place, but it was worth it. Ribs were perfect, moist was moist. Everything went down easy and the green bean were a bonus I did not expect... very tasty. When you walk in you know this place is BBQ serious. The smell immediately makes your mouth water and you can place your order fast enough to prevent the from running down your face. The ribs were perfect and the meat fell off the bone, the moist melted in your mouth. NO Sauce Required, but if you must that was pretty good too. Well worth the annoyance of finding the place. Drive between the corner gas station and Bush's chicken and it will be right in front of you. read more

I finally got a chance to drop by and check out Frekin Gud BBQ for lunch. The place is very vlean, service was fast and friendly and most importantly, the BBQ was delicious. I had the beef rib plate and was NOT DISAPPOINTED. Considering that their pricing is rather reasonable, I'll have to start planning on making more trips to this side of town around lunchtime. read more

Not sure why you changed decision to be our commissary but the show y'all put on the other day was not cool. You acted like you needed to go home real quick and that I should go in and talk to sean. The little gal said he was too busy washing dishes to talk even a minute. Then come to realize you were in kitchen also. Parking in back did not go undetected. Guess it's just as well we are not dealing with you folks since we would rather deal with honest respectful people. I can understand why ya'll have a 3.5 star rating since the last time I ordered from there I received the hard end pieces of brisket, all your sausage is spicy now, and your sauce is way too vinegary. Plus the surcharge you have on credit/debit charges is so cheesy. You are one the very few that think so little of their customers to do that. read more

Stumbled on this place completely by accident and glad we did! Was able to feed a family of 7 for $45! That's unheard of for us at a restaurant. Potato salad was a great surprise, never had it made with pickles before. We tried four different meats and all were great, not dried out like many bbq places. read more

The Cowboy beans are awesome!!! The BBQ is good too. The sauces are okay. Friendly customer service. Good Yelp recommendation.

When you walk in, you instantly get a smell of smoke in the air, expecting some good smoked meat. Well how quickly we were disappointed. We had the ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and chopped brisket. They were all lacking flavor and smokiness. We were very disappointed after seeing the high Yelp rating. read more

I'm very picky and this BBQ was great! Dry rubbed, fall off the bones ribs with crispy seared skin. Pulled pork moist and juicy; added a little BBQ sauce. Pinto beans some of the best I ever had! Kudos! read more

At exactly 5 minutes till 11 am on Friday, 5/24th/2019 I stepped into "The Frekin Gud BBQ Restaurant" for the first time ever, and I commented to the lady behind the counter that it smelled really good and was about to place a "to go" order when I was told, "Ma'am we aren't open yet. We still have about 5 more minutes, and she walked away from me and headed back to the kitchen area without saying another word. I thought that she was very rude, and unfriendly. She could have at least taken my order considering it was only 5 minutes prior to them opening. I left and I won't ever be back. They aren't the only BBQ restaurant around. I regret that I didn't get the rude girls name. I sent a message to the Company on Facebook messaging. If she was an employee of the Company I hope she gets reprimanded. I don't wish her, or anyone to lose their job but she needs to lose the attitude. It's definately not good for business. read more

Didn't even try the food. Pulled up to get some lunch just now and every one of their employees were standing in front of their front door smoking. Sorry but that was gross. I don't have a problem with smoking, that's your personal choice, but that's just unprofessional and something you don't want to see from your food handlers. I know this is Bellmead, but you have to do better than that. read more

The best BBQ in central Texas. From the ribs to the brisket to the pulled pork. It's all the best. I highly recommend eating here. The big freaking sandwich is my favorite. Pulled pork, either sliced brisket or chopped, and your choice of sausage. I recommend the pepper jack sausage. Comes with bag of chips and drink. Great prices and even better customer service. They really know how to take care of there customers and they have the BBQ down to perfection. read more

What a great surprise! Since the recent closing of Tom's BBQ on Bellmead drive, I have been forced to try barbecue elsewhere around town. I'm really picky about it, too. This location is really convenient for me, the food is delicious and at a great price point. Family friendly! I'll eat anywhere in this Health Department inspector's district, too. So that's a big plus. The service is quick and extremely friendly. This is my new go-to spot for my BBQ. Keep up the good work guys! read more

Why wait why waste your money on barbecue is not consistent.... this is one of my favorite places to eat there consistent each time their services on. Very friendly atmosphere!!! read more

Gave them a 2nd chance and yet disappointed again. Ribs where dry. The mac salad har cheese tasted like it had been placed in the fridge for days. read more

Their barbecue sandwich is good, and I loved their chicken salad sandwich which has a touch of smokey barbecue flavor.

This place is great! The food was yummy, staff was friendly, restaurant was comfy and cute. I'll definitely be eating here again.

Just passing through on our way back to Fort Worth and we were really pleased with our dinner choice. Excellent ribs, brisket and sausage, the sides were also really good. The service was excellent, friendly and fast. We will definitely be back on our next trip though. read more

It's okay NOT anything to write home to mom about! BBQ sauce was super cold! Brisket kind of dry. Chip bag's are super SMALL like the 25cent bags! Didn't get meat weighed out in front of me like most BBQ places! Friendly staff though! But that's it will not come back or recommend. Sorry read more

Terribly disappointed! BBQ mediocre. Sides just awful: beans tasted burned and were replaced with a white mushy glop that was suppose to be potato salad. Noticed they continued to serve beans even after we took ours back. Cole slaw mediocre. Clearly from Sysco's et al, but nowhere in league of even that served at McAlister's, etc. Haven't had great BBQ and sides since Tom's Smokehouse closed, and sadly, none in sight! read more

We went early on a weekday. People were nice. Prices were reasonable. Food was ok. Pulled pork was good. Brisket tasted like the fully cooked brisket you but at HEB. Not a fan of that. Mustard potato salad was a little dry. Onions were a little too big in potato salad. Husband said the bbq sauce tasted like wolf brand chili. It was better than uncle Dan's bbq which we aren't fans of...but it wasn't as good as viteks! read more

The bbq was ok, nothing fantastic. However the girl at the counter was very condescending. We were not sure if they had spare ribs or short ribs so we asked what kind of ribs they had and she had no idea that there are different ribs out there in the world. Seriously, if you work at a bbq joint at least know what kind of food you have. She then proceeded to go to the back and make fun of us with the other lady who works there. Also, my husband asked for 1/2 b of moist brisket and he got way less than that, dry and chewy brisket. Not very happy with the whole experience to be honest. read more

The bbq was not the best I have eaten or the worst. I did not like the pinto beans, they were scorched. The potato salad was very good. The service was excellent, the prices good and it was very clean. read more

Yummy! It's kind of hidden in a shopping complex, but don't let that fool you. The quality of the food was great, and service was quick. I had the chicken, white potato salad and cowboy beans. The beans were so-so, but the chicken and potato salad were perfect. My table mates had ribs, sausage, brisket, and chopped barbecue, and everyone said their food was great. The price per plate is approximately $10 a person and $8 for the sandwich special. The cobblers and ice cream looked fantastic but we were all stuffed, so desserts will have to wait. read more

This is decent BBQ. I come from Kansas City so we are pretty spoiled when it comes to bbq and there were some things at Frekin Gud that I was disappointed in. The service was great, the two ladies we met were very nice. We ordered the family pack meal with two meats and three large sides. We ordered an extra half pound of shredded pork. The green beans were tasty. I was not a fan of the mustard based potato salad. It wasn't like any other mustard potato salad I've had before; very sweet with dill pickles mixed in. The meats were okay, they were smokey and juicy but other than that, lacking in that "wow" factor. Out of everything, I disliked the original house made BBQ sauce the most. It did not taste like BQQ; it's hard to describe. It had a lot of tomato and vinegar in it, so really, it was like a very fancy ketchup sauce. I am use to those sweet, bourbon or honey bbq sauces. I've had lots of Texas bbq before and I KNOW there are good texas bbq sauces out there, but this one is a miss. This is a great place if you're craving bbq and you want to eat quickly, but you don't want to spend a whole lot. Service was very good, as I said. However, this isn't like a "wow, this is amazing bbq" kind of place. Though, I say don't knock it until you try it. read more
