Mac and cheese, Dino rib, the most amazing turkey ever, and brisket.
Adam B.

My son and I did a BBQ road trip through Dallas, Ft Worth, Waco, Austin, Lockhart, and Houston, and I'll admit that Terry Black's was the only place I ordered a Dino rib. It was amazing, of course, but the unexpected standout here was the turkey! I was focused solely on meats when my son ordered turkey and insisted that I try it. It may have changed my life. It was the juiciest, most flavorful, mouth watering turkey I've ever had, and maybe the first time I've actually enjoyed turkey. Everything else is great at Terry Black's, but if you haven't tried the turkey, you need to go right now and get some!

What amazing barbecue. I didn't realize Waco Texas had a Terry Blacks, but we were passing through and knew we had to try it. The brisket was amazing as was the sausage. My daughter loved the cornbread and we all love the green beans. All around this is just an amazing place with amazing food and amazing people. Finally, the banana pudding is to die for!

Huge indoor and outdoor seating. Cafeteria style ordering and you just grab what you want. Employees serve up the sides and the meat. The brisket was fall apart tender and smoked to perfection. I loved the sauces too. The mac n cheese and potato salad were both really well done too. Add on the ice cold beers and this place is perfect.

We had dinner to go and they packaged everything up neatly! It was a great experience taking it back to the hotel. The ribs were heavily seasoned, most importantly moist. The sausage had cheese it in.. green beans were good. Mac n cheese was super cheesy! They seem to have other locations!

We had a good lunch at Terry Blacks, however, I do not think it is the best barbecue around. I was disappointed they did not have pulled pork so I got the turkey and the turkey was good, but still nothing in my opinion to rave about. My husband got the pork ribs and he thought they were good, but not the best he's ever had either. The creamed corn was very good and unique but the macaroni and cheese was not my style.

Really cool spot in Waco. I highly recommend the ribs, I think they were tastiest part of my plate. The way you order is pretty unique, as you go through a line to get your sides and then go straight to the meat counter where you can ask for custom amounts of whatever meat they have. I opted to try a little of everything since I was from out of town. The vibe was perfectly executed for a Texas BBQ spot. An added bonus that I forgot to take a picture of was their BBQ smokers off to the side on the patio. Highly recommend this spot!

Y'all! That Dino rib is worth it! And thank you for the reviews about the turkey. I'm usually not a turkey fan, but it's delicious! The sides are great and that black margarita...chef's kiss!

Brisket, creamed corn, mac and cheese, and creamed corn. The perfect meal.

Truly the best BBQ!! I can never stop thinking about it. I have no notes. The brisket melts in your mouth and the flavor is incredible. The turkey is the best I've ever had. And the sides? Blew me away. The Mac and cheese and creamed corn were beyond what you'd expect.. so delicious. I loved having the green beans with the meal as well, to add something a little healthier. The line is sometimes out the door and it can get crazy busy, for good reason. Don't let it turn you away. It's worth the wait, and I will come back here every time I'm in Texas!

This is Oscar Not Terry but he said he's just as funny and handsome as.

It was our first time coming here, everything was delicious. The brisket just melted in my mouth, the corn bread was very moist. The ribs just fell off the bone and it didn't even need extra sauce. We even met Oscar and I called him Terry. The crew gave us a tour and the rest of the crew was super friendly. I give it 10 stars but yelp only allows me 5

First great meal with some good BBQ. A little dent in the wallet was made here. It is a little too pricey for us. But we wanted to try it since it had great reviews! Loved the order at the counter idea. Seeing the fresh sides and ordering the quantity you want. Loved the Mexican rice side. And we had the half pound of brisket with the original reg sauce and cheese jalapeño sausage. All the sauces were great. They have bottle and can beer options. And pop. And a soda fountain to fill your Dr Pepper and Coca Cola desires. The Staff were great and friendly. They have to go boxes if you don't finish everything and to go bag. Which is super great! This place has lots of parking. Family and dog friendly. And yet great for large groups. Lots of seating options inside and outside

Place is big and with lots of space and tables. Service is fast and easy. The menu for sides and meats are on a different overhead-hanging menu. Once you select your items, they'll prepare them and give you a plastic plate with your choices. Very fast and friendly service! Will definitely visit again!

Turkey, Brisket, burnt ends(my favorite),cream corn and beans enough for two to share. Burnt ends absolutely delicious. Turkey and brisket very tasty. Love the corn and beans. Adrianna, Tammy and a young man, can't remember his name, working at the counter were all so nice even gave us BBQ recommendations for our next bbq destination to Austin, TX. Love that there's no line to get in, love that I don't smell like bbq when I leave. Restaurant is clean and very nice. Will definitely return whenever back in Waco.

The beef rib was huge. It was well cooked, seasoned well, and without a heavy overpowering smoke taste and smell. The meat was tender and juicy. The pork rib meat was also perfectly cooked, the seasoning was one of the best mix of savory I had in a while. Instead of a special restaurant dinner for anniversary we thought we would eat a couple ribs. The adage @you get what you pay for" holds up well here. But the bill was exurban and this was before the current high price of meat & everything else. My husband said that I would not want to know what he paid which means over $100. I hope they can hang on until their supplies are more affordable. The cost will I am sure be a disadvantage. What we paid would have been or useful in filling my pantry. That being said, it was one of the most enjoyable meals we've brought home. If we could afford it we would definitely be our go-to place. We are looking forward to iur anniversary in a couple months when we won't feel guilty about paying a big price for a meal. I will go for flavor over fancy every time and Helberg fits that shoe.

We finally made it to this one and it did not disappoint! The restaurant is spacious with many picnic tables covered with checkered tablecloths. The ceiling is vaulted adorned with beams. It's a very casual & rustic ambiance. I opted for the brisket sandwich while hubby craved the smoked turkey sandwich. The sides chosen were the creamed corn and potato salad. Our entire order was packed in one of those hefty dishwashing trays. Very clever. Staff were friendly and food came out quickly. We totally savored all the food. The brisket was just as tasty & tender as I remembered and hubby's smoked turkey had his tastebuds singing! Hands down the best creamed corn anywhere and their potato salad was excellent, too. Let's not forget their "sauce!" Everything was so flavorsome. Since we had leftover potato salad & creamed corn, we ordered BBQ sausage to go for dinner at the hotel later that evening. It was delicious, too. We're so happy we came by. Rudy's remains our #1 BBQ destination in Texas.

The place is pretty nice on the outside, as far as BBq places go. It is a little ways north of the downtown area. I went in right at noon and had to stand in line a while. I ordered 1/3 of a pound of moist brisket and 1/3 of jalapeños sausage. The cashier called someone else over cause she couldn't ring up 1/3 of a lbs. The second person told her to enter .33. When she did, it popped up .330. She asked if I'd be fine paying for .330 instead of 1/3 of a lb. Brisket was good, but I didn't get the requested moist end. The sausage was good, but not great. Someone came around and offered a free side of "gravy". I declined, but later regretted it. I really should have learned what bbq gravy tastes like.

Off its first appearance, the restaurant appears as your classic no-frills, get-what-you-asked for establishment. There is lots of outdoor seating, very fair pricing, and a surprisingly extensive menu; I doubt you'll fail to find something you enjoy here. Overall it seemed like a location that would be bumping in conjunction with Baylor college nights, post church service, or otherwise Waco-oriented affairs. My only complaint was really the smell. We came near close when some workers were cleaning, however there was an apparent chemical stench within the patio, between the inside seating and outdoor seating. My partner ordered the sausage po boy, while I ordered the fried chicken plate, wish mashed potatoes & gravy + green beans. The wait was rather long, which can be attributed towards the chicken's cook time - which might be front scratch. After we got our plates, I certainly couldn't complain. The chicken was decently sized and decadent with flavor. Consistent, strong Cajun spicing littered the tray and chicken, while its interior was extremely juicy and filled with flavor; additionally, it still maintained structure and provided a nice crunch on the surface. The mashed potatoes were equally as enjoyable. The gravy complemented the potatoes well, and established an equilibrium through texture. The green beans however, were not my favorite. They initially appeared fine on the surface, but became watered down and lacking in flavor the farther down the bowl you went. I would not be surprised if these beans were canned. I would certainly find myself eating here again. Its biggest appeals are the prices, genuine quality of food, and disposition. It is not perfect, but it is more than satisfactory. If you cannot get over the minor inconveniences that you may run into here, then you probably shouldn't be eating Cajun anyways.
