Sliced brisket, dry - was fantastic! Chopped brisket, wet - was amazing! Brisket crispy tacos - delicious! Smoked turkey - moist and yummy! Fried jalapeños - a little salty but some of the best I've had Mac n' Cheese - soul food and hit the spot. Michael was great and the food was wonderful. Service was given with a welcoming and kind smile. Michael checked on us to make sure everything was perfect. It's a small hidden gem. Worth the trip! Check the hours before making the trip.

Absolutely amazing! If there was a 10 star option, I would've given it. The ribs were amazing and their coleslaw is always fresh and delicious! The team is very helpful and friendly!!

We were passing through and did a quick search on yelp for bbq and this place came up right away. It's located in an old gas station. Very cute. I order the platter with 1 meat -brisket with two slices of bread, mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. My order was for a 1/4 lb which equaled to 3 slices of brisket. It was a little dry but you could taste the smoky flavor. I added the BBQ sauce and it was delicious. The Mac and cheese was very good. The potato salad was not to my liking. It had too much pickles and relish for my taste. It would have been better if the bread was toasted. So minus 1 star for those cons. My fiancé got the Heritage sandwich. Which consisted of chopped brisket onions, pickles and a bag of chips. And of course the BBQ sauce. He loved it!! He took the jalapeños that came with my order and added it to his sandwich. Would I try it again, yes. If I'm ever in the area again I hope to try the Wagyu beef ribs. Family owned!!

Beef ribs, brisket and sausage are quite good, if you factor in at all that the price is fair, and there isn't a 5 hour line to get lunch then this could very well be the BBQ fix you have been dreaming about. Solid BBQ, very nice staff, and both indoor and outdoor seating without the wait makes this hidden gem a weekly staple should you not have time to turn on and baby sit your stick burner.

Popped in after a day trip to Homestead Heritage. I had the turkey breast and sausage, my husband had the brisket and sausage. Turkey was the best I've ever had! Sausage was delicious, the brisket was okay. The macaroni and cheese was delicious, the okra was run of the mill generic okra. Overall good food. If in the area again we will pop in.

    Sweet&Smoky Burger

Don't miss it!!! Amazing food and service!! Michael's brisket is amazing and the jalapeño grits are the BEST but don't miss the Sweet&Smoky Burger!!! It is definitely underrated and probably hands down the best burger I've ever had. I keep coming back for the BBQ but somehow end up with the burger :)

    How it started!!!!

This was our 1st time eating here and The Red Wagon did not Disappoint!! The Turkey was my favorite I definitely recommend this PLACE!!

Traveling back to San Antonio from Dallas, we stopped in for a lunch. My wife had the Brisket Loaded Baked Potato, granddaughter had the Loaded Mac & Cheese topped with Brisket, myself I had the Barbeque bowl and the Crunchy Taco. The Crunchy Taco was amazing, filled with brisket, mild chilies, lettuce and topped with a creamy avocado sauce and cheese crumbles. I wanted to try the banana pudding, made inhouse, but was too full to try anymore. The owner told me they've recently moved to this location, but the restaurant was up and running. Décor is classic BBQ joint style, seating indoor and outside. The owner and staff were welcoming and very pleasant. Pricing is very fair for the quality of food offered. Its a 10 minute detour off the I35 but worth it.

What a nice surprise in Texas. The beef ribs were outstanding and so was the brisket, Cole slaw, and hospitality.

The donuts here are croissant donuts so their texture is that of a croissant. Now that I got that out of the way-- Their donuts are flaky, soooft in the center, and full of flavor. These are best eaten warm! If you do take out, pop them in the microwave for 15 seconds or so and they taste just as good as they do in the shop. Our favorites: The Glazed Donut, the Cinnamon Sugar, the Chocolate Iced. My favorite seasonal donuts are the Key Lime, Raspberry Lemon, and Maple Bacon. Tip: their donut holes are huge and sold by the piece. You can order one of each flavor or all of the same. A good move if you're wanting something smaller or you want to try more than one. They have flaky, delicious kolaches made with meat from local barbecue joint Guess BBQ. Our favorite is the Turkey and Colby Jack. They serve Intelligentsia coffee. Not sure what blend it is but it is perfect with their donuts. Their branding is on point. Fun colors and design on everything. Inside is clean and it's been pretty quiet whenever we've been there. It has photos of everything. I love ceviche and I had a very difficult time deciding. Ceviche, Aguachile made in multiple ways, Coctels, Seafood Tower, Tostilocos con Ceviche! Hacha and all kinds of shrimp. Beautiful Snow Crab. They make trays of items. Bowls. Boils. Molcajete. Ramen noodle bowls. There is Zarandeados style to cook shrimp and octopus. There's Beef, too. Fajitas. Carne asada. Bistec. Barbacoa. Burgers. So, we had our favorites. I ordered a Plato de Ceviche that comes comes with fresh thin fried corn chips and a fish tacos platter (4). My husband ordered this huge Carne Asada Plate. Our sweet waitress was kind and patient. Much of the menu is in Spanish for items that I'd never heard of and wanted to know about. I tried not to monopolize her. There was all this incredible looking food around us! It looked like we were served a very tasty fire roasted salsa Negra to kick things off. Our food arrived fairly soon. My husband's Carne Asada Plate was enough for two. Served on a tray, it came with 6 flour tortillas and he took half of what you see in the photo home. The meat was so tender and the grilled whole onion was delicious. My ceviche rocked. Crunchy veggies and well seasoned and marinated fish and shrimp, lots of avocado and a surprise! Tender bites of octopus at the edges of this enormous serving of Ceviche. It was perfection. Next time I want to try the Aguachile. My only problem will be which one? I opted to take half the ceviche home and jump into a fish taco. There was so much fish, it barely fit into the tortilla. My husband had one too. There were two delicious creamy sauces, Pico de Gallo and purple cabbage. Crunchy enough to stand up to everything, it was SO good. I took the other two home of course. This area of downtown Ennis is so very nice. Plenty of parking. Benches. The restaurant has patio dining but it was much too cold. On a Sunday evening, every table was packed, but we waited just a couple of minutes. Service was lovely. We'll definitely be back. I can hardly wait!!
