Wowwww!!!! I'm originally from Southeast Texas, born and breed with Cajun blood running through my veins. Ever since leaving and moving to Austin area, I've longed for my gumbo, crawfish and even down home red beans and rice. Well, until now!! We just randomly decided on seafood while in Waco, and lemme tell yall. This place will not disappoint!! I had a bowl of probably the top 10 best I've ever had!! (Sorry mom), and also the red beans and ohhhh my lawd!!!! The atmosphere when you walked in let you know this was gonna be a good meal. The decor, and even almost entire wall with prices and the daily specials written on it. The waitress tried to tell us about it, and I'm pretty sure the wife was paying attention, but I already had my stomach setting up to receive gumbo. Multiple waitstaff stopped by to check on us throughout the meal, and all were very friendly! Serving sizes to make you loosen a belt notch to be able to breathe!! Wife had the fish and chips and couldn't eat the fries! That all said, I also found out that gumbo and beans and rice were made from scratch DAILY, and not that prepared stuff you get at some places!! Stop and be ready to Laissez les bons temps rouler!! read more

Went here for lunch. Was seated quickly and the food seemed like it came out quickly too. The crawfish was good and especially if you dipped it in the butter that came with it. The red fish was okay. I felt the entree was plated nicely and overall wasn't bad. I felt the restaurant was clean which is definitely a good sign for a restaurant . read more

We really just wanted to stop in for a quick appetizer but the food was so good that we ordered a meal! I had oysters and shrimp and catfish and cod and I had them grilled instead. The crab cake appetizer run turned into a feast. Not only was the food great, but the service was great as well. We wound up chatting with the assistant manager Pedro and I shared stories of our love of seafood. If you are in a hurry, I do need to tell that they cook the fish perfectly, and to do that it takes time. If you are in to cocktails they have great blood Mary's, and the menu is great! They have happy hour every day but Sunday at 3-6pm!!! Anyways, we are going to make this a main hangout. Join us!! read more

Food was outstanding! I had the shrimp tacos absolutely delicious! My husband had the grilled red fish Nola. The waiters recommended it and it was to die for Excellent service definitely will be back! read more

For a chain or corporate fish place the food is very authentic and has great flavor. The service is very attentive and friendly. The ambiance is sort of a home style cafe which works well for what is being served and the atmosphere a fish place. I have had lunch there several time and never disappoints. The patio is a really nice plus if the weather is cooperating. read more

We were served at the bar by Jose. He was so friendly and helpful. He stayed busy behind the bar and kept up conversations with several diners while providing excellent service When he found out this was our first visit he provided us home made potato chip with smoked trout. It was the perfect start. I ordered the half order of catfish. The fish was huge. It was perfectly fried with a nice crunch My hubby ordered the combo plate with cod and shrimp. He subbed wilted spinach and broccolini for the sides He was a fan of the fish and shrimp. The spinach was really tasty We finished with an in house made bread pudding with a whiskey pecan sauce. It was the best I ever tasted read more

Back in Waco this past weekend with the boys. Went to Fish City Grill for lunch. The weather was beautiful so we decided to sit outside for lunch. As you can see very nice outdoor seating, with nice view. Was greeted by Kailah, she was very attentive and friendly. My wife and I split the Sea Bass, was large entree to share. Served with potatoes and green beans that were seasoned and cooked nicely. Kyle had the lobster and shrimp cheese grits, surprisingly very tasty. Has a great experience, would totally recommend if you are looking for good seafood. read more

While a little pricey, the food is unique to this area and a really good choice for quality seafood.

Overall we enjoyed our meal. Nothing special and nothing bad. Service was attentive and helpful. Scallops were cooked perfect, shrimp was a little salty and overdone. Crab cake was tasty. I wasn't a fan of the plastic ramekins for the price we paid and it didn't do justice for your attempt plate nicely. read more

Haven't been to this location before. We really like Fish City and this location did not disappoint. Clean, quality service and quality food. For the first time ever, I tried a non-fish dish and went with their roast beef. It was excellent. Just like Grandma used to make. Amazing thin onion rings on top of a large portion of fork tender roast with mashed potatoes and a few carrots. Amazing flavor and portion. My wife had the seared ahi tuna tacos. They were cooked perfectly with a nice citrus flavor and came why Cuban beans and rice (think dirty rice). Service by Ty was excellent. I highly recommend this location. The non-alcohol mojito was excellent and the golden margarita was amazing with a slight hint of orange. read more

Food was good. Enjoyed sitting outside.....just was glad when lawnmowers finished mowing. Nice atmosphere!

Amazing sandwich, amazing service, and a fun vibe. I'll be the first to say I'm not a seafood fan and only came here for my family. Often I find land food always tastes disgusting at mainly seafood type restaurants but my expectations were blown away. I had the most delicious chicken sandwich with pesto aoli. I was so happy with my land food in a group of seafood eaters. read more

Wow what a great discovery. Plenty of choices on the menu and I wasn't sure if I should get the gumbo or the New England clam chowder and a waitress offered me a sample of both being in Texas. I normally would go for the gumbo, but the New England clam chowder tasted really great. I then had the grilled oysters which were very tasty and ended the evening with a really large serving of a Caesar salad I plan to go the next time. I'm back in town. read more

We have been here twice before & it was good! Today we had a Christmas gift card and chose to use it for this restaurant. From the server to the food it was not good. The outside patio is nice to look at the water. But I had crab and potato and corn on my mind & my hubby had scallops. His was good. I got my crab but had to keep asking for the potatoes. The server finally brought them & it was 2 tiny red potatoes drenched in butter. Then she proceeded to tell me they had no corn. I was very disappointed that I was not told until after I got my crab with zero side dishes for about 15 minutes. Then I got some zucchini and carrots again drenched butter. I still got zero sides because I couldn't eat them. The crab was just ok. The server was friendly but did not do what she should've done as a server. The manager apologized. But I'm just unhappy and won't be back unfortunately. read more

Fresh and tasty seafood. The prices are good and the service is fantastic. We tried the bar and had a good time. Table service was great. The manager was helping and making sure everything was perfect. The oysters were tasty and fresh. The fish dishes have all been delicious so far. read more

The food is consistent and fresh. The crispy calamari and shrimp po' boy sandwich were prepared well and tasted great. My wife never fails to get at least a half dozen East Coast oysters. The New England clam chowder is a standout dish, and that's coming from someone with thirty-five years' experience eating eastern MA seafood. The service was attentive and friendly without being obtrusive. Extra dipping sauces were readily available on request. The dining room is spotless; the booths and chairs are comfortable, and the outdoor patio looks like a great option when the weather is a bit warmer. The location provides convenient access to the 340 Loop, Interstate 35, and the Baylor, Scott & White Medical Center campus. read more

This was our first time coming to this restaurant. It is conveniently located in a shopping center among some of our favorite stores--we were hungry and decided to try it out. It was fairly busy on a Friday around 7 PM, but we only had to wait about 5 minutes before a table was made available. It has a very casual-feel--i loved reading about the specials and menu items on the blackboards on the walls. Our server was very nice and greeted us promptly and for the most part was quick about everything. I'm not going to lie, my wife and I were a little envious seeing a nearby table get offered samples of a number of menu items. I read a couple reviews stating similar things. Seems like it was on the server to initiate that, but it's okay. I ordered the lobster and shrimp grilled cheese sandwich with French fries and a sweet tea. The sandwich was delicious--the cheese was perfectly melted and the bread was just the right amount of toasted, not too hard at all. I would love to brag about the lobster and shrimp inside of the sandwich, however the sriracha overpowered the flavors of both. This comment is only my personal opinion as I'm sure there are some sriracha lovers out there, but it really took away from the flavor of the lobster and shrimp for me which I really love. I would have ordered the sandwich without it and recommend that to anyone who isn't much of a fan of sriracha. My wife ordered the fish and chips and it had to had been one of the flakiest and delicious pieces of fish I've had in a while, highly recommend that plate!! Will definitely come back whenever we're in the Georgetown area!! read more

Once again you have delivered fantastic food and excellent customer service. I have a family member in the adjacent hospital, and their concern and compassion for this tired wife have been truly exemplary. Even though an out-of-towner, I felt "seen" and supported. The staff suggested I take some food back to my family member in the husband - what a great idea - and then they comp'd it! What a nice surprise for sure.. We always come to eat here when we are in WACO and we will continue to do so! Thanks much! read more

Came for early lunch today. Sat on patio (just me) enjoying the water view. Ordered 2 appetizers: Smokin Hot Shrimp and the Shrimp and Crab Queso, unsweet iced tea to drink. In Waco on business and walked in for a Thursday night dinner. I sat at the bar, but they had Party on the Patio and indoor dining. Both the indoor and outdoor seating were great. Traveling to work and wanting to find a good place to eat, we hit the jackpot. This looks like a new location, everything is VERY CLEAN and organized. We were greeted by our server Audrey, who is very friendly and professional, she directed us to the specials and the menu, after seeing other plates coming out,we could see this was going to be a difficult decision. We settled on the seafood platter and the fried shrimp. We were not disappointed, everything was so so good. We can't think of anything that would improve our experience. Thank You so much Audrey read more

I didn't have a good experience here. Restaurant was at about 50% capacity when I arrived. Decided to sit outside where there was only 1 table being used. I sat outside for at least 20 minutes, maybe a little longer without anyone waiting on me. 2 workers sat at a booth outside & talked while I waited to be ask what I wanted to drink. I ended up leaving without ever getting a drink. I told the manager, but after having to complain to the manager. I just left & went to Salt Grass read more

Service and food was ambiance top, the price is upper level but so is everything else -I think having a 6$ margarita that taste twice that in quality was great. Jumbo lump crab cake with a same plate salad, the dill/mild-ceasar side is very very good there and would order again. Andouille Chicken, recommended, has a built up spice so gets a little spicy for some maybe, but very much a good thing Courtney was stellar, cook stopping by to add also great, and see our great day pictures from 9.15.24 on the patio read more

First time to this location for me. Others had been there prior restaurant was clean, greeted quickly, and server was helpful. Plenty of specials to choose from plus a menu orders were correct. Food was the correct temperature. Buffalo chicken tacos were tasteful. They do have a little heat which I liked. Seafood tacos were good and had plenty of toppings. Scallops and shrimp were cooked perfectly. Three tacos to an order. Two is enough for me. We'll definitely go back. read more

Ate here a few times while I was in waco. Everything that I tried on the menu was good. The staff was pleasant and the location was perfect.

I had a very enjoyable dinner at this location on a Sunday night. I was alone, so I sat at the bar, and Zac the Bartender was extremely friendly, gracious, and knowledgeable about the local Waco food and beer scene. He also made a wonderful cocktail called the "Whale Hello There" that includes Gray Whale Gin, cucumber syrup, and Fever Tree lime & kuzu mixer. It was fantastic! There is also a tap handle from Waco's own Southern Roots brewery that you can't get anywhere else (including the brewery), and it was really good! Unfortunately, by the time I got there, they had run out of redfish for the day, but my mahi tacos were amazing, I would highly recommend! Overall, it was a great experience, and I will definitely be back on my next trip through. read more

First time eating at Fish City Grill. We were quickly seated and then forgotten about. 30 minutes later we finally made a drink and appetizer order. After the drinks and appetizers arrived we made our dinner requests. After a 20 minute wait the first 2 orders arrived, we had a party of 4. The 3rd order arrived 10 minutes later which was not the correct order. The 4th order never arrived. The server apologized and said it is on the way. We canceled the order and left. The food that we did get was only so so. read more
