Unfortunately we didn't have a great experience at JDs and we were so excited to go! We loved that they said seed oil free so we're excited to try their food! Our service was not great. It took a long time for our waitress to get our drinks and our order. When they brought our food, two out of the three dishes were wrong and missing ingredients. I got the burger which was the only dish made correctly and it was tasty! They offered us a free dessert to make up for the mistakes but in my mind it just didn't cover it. The food was tasty that I had but my friends weren't super impressed with theirs.

My husband just picked up a to go order for me--the Dan Dan noodles and it's inedible. The entire thing tastes like a whole salt shaker was dumped on it. And that's after he had to go to counter 30 mins later and ask if it was ready after being told they would bring it out to him when it was. Service and food both are terrible. This is the second time we've been and it just keep getting worse and worse. Would rather not risk wasting another $15-17 on a meal to give it a third try. So no seed oils but they'll kill ya with the sodium content. Super disappointed. First time we went was breakfast last Saturday and the guy working counter didn't even greet us and wouldn't have said a word to us otherwise. No thanks.

Staff was very nice and provided great service. The fried pickles were out of this world. I really liked them. The Dan Dan noodles were very good. Very spicy. Seving sizes were huge. There were more than enough left overs for lunch tomorrow!

Breakfast Bowl with egg and cheese served over grits. Don't mind the pepper. I forgot to take the picture before adding!

Breakfast at JDs was delicious! After having a hard time deciding which breakfast & brunch item to choose, I settled on the Original Breakfast Bowl with an over medium egg and Colby jack cheese served over the most delicious Texas grown grits. It was a perfect choice!

Enthusiastic thumbs up. Coffee Spot meets girlie lunch meets grab and go. Nutritious, eye-grabbing, soul satisfying fare. A new go-to for a girlfriend lunch, coffee, dessert. Also a spot that I can and will use to grab dinner to go for my honey and me. Cooked fresh daily. All served with a smile. Professional and friendly. Spotless. Lovely decor with loads of inviting natural lighting with a variety of seating. Strawberry cake frosting a bit on the sweet powdered sugar end for us but great crumb.

This is my favorite dinner burger in Waco - the bacon is perfect and crisp. The staff is always so kind and welcoming too.

It was decent. Four…read moreof us, on our way to Galveston, stopped at Kim's in Waco for lunch. The place is decorated in fun 50s - 80s decor. It's very much a diner. We got seated right away around 1:30 pm on a Friday. There appeared to be only two servers covering the entire room but they did a pretty good job of it. Our waiter, a young man was quite pleasant and knowledgeable. He used an electronic order taking device and was able to customize anything we asked for, right in the device. Three of us ordered shakes. My friend loves Coconut Cream Pie, which they have and she was considering a shake. I suggested she ask our server if he could make her a Coconut Cream Pie shake with vanilla ice cream. Sure enough, he did it and it was quite tasty. For lunch, we ordered as follows: - Patty Melt with Tots (shared by my wife and I) - Kids Finger Basket with 1 Chicken and 1 Steak finger and tots - Steak Finger Basket with Tots The food was very diner diner-like (fried or flat top grilled) and it was tasty. This was a decent and fun lunch and we'd stop here again.

For dessert, Apple pie with ice cream -- good and reliable. Lemon meringue pie -- disappointing despite a well-executed meringue; crust crumbly; texture and taste didn't quite align, with a subtle metallic lemon note. After two bites, not appealing enough to finish. If you're after traditional diner food, Kim's delivers on core items. Dessert may be hit-or-miss.

What originally caught my attention was the idea of a Narnia-style wardrobe you could walk through, which sounded magical and totally unique. It was early in the day when I arrived, so parking was easy to find along the side streets and nearby areas. From the moment I walked in, I was hooked. The décor is absolutely charming--open and airy, yet filled with books everywhere you look. It feels like a place you could easily spend hours exploring. The layout is really well thought out: newer releases are toward the front, there's a cozy seating area where you can flip through books, and as you move further in, you'll find the café on the right and restrooms on the left. One of my favorite things about this place is all the little nooks scattered throughout the store. They're perfect if you want to study, work, or just escape into a book without distractions--it really gives you that "your own little world" feeling. There are also tables for laptop work and comfy couches for more relaxed reading. I'll admit, I got so distracted by the incredible book selection and all the cute extras--journals, stickers, mugs, clothing, and other fun finds--that I completely forgot to look for the wardrobe! Definitely something I'll have to come back for. I did try one of their seasonal drinks--a cold brew with banana cold foam--and it was delicious. A perfect treat while browsing. Overall, this place is a gem. Whether you're into children's books, history, poetry, or trending reads, there's something for everyone. If you're a book lover or just passing through Waco, I highly recommend stopping by. It's well worth the visit.

Magnolia Press is their house coffee shop serving up all the coffee house classic beverages and snacks. Beverages were all the basics with a few specialty drinks, both hot and cold. The food was standard breakfast sandwiches and pastries. Prices for everything were moderate, but expected. I went with an iced mocha and chocolate croissant, while my partner went with a breakfast croissant. The food came out a few minutes before the drink, so we munched on the goods while we waited for the coffee. The food was good and the drink was tasty. It hit the spot for sure! The flow can get a bit backed up depending on how busy the baristas are...and they were busy! We waited a longer time after ordering than we did in line to order, but neither wait was egregiously long. Once we got the coffee, we made our way outside to the courtyard. We passed the small, but cute dining room. The space is gorgeous, perfect coffee house and Magnolia vibes. Overall, great entry point to the market. Lovely vibes and decent coffee!
