The Hayward Denny's across from Chabot College has a nice ambiance. The greeters are welcoming and accommodating. LUZ is an especially good server. I ask for her whenever possible. The senior salmon entree is tasty, nutritious, and a good value$$. The vegetables were deliciously grilled. I avoid sugar, so I can't comment on the dessert menu. I went there with a friend and the service was really bad. Angelica kept giving us an attitude and she didn't seem like she wanted us to be there. For starters, we were served by Luz. She was really nice. My dad and I had switched seats since his eyes had just been dilated from a Dr. appointment and the sign right outside was blinding him. He then put on his RayBan sun glasses. I offered to switch sides with him. It wasn't until we were done with our food that things went downhill. I went to pay at the front desk. My dad had went to the bathroom. When he came out he said he is missing his RayBan sunglasses. When we went to go check the table had been wiped down and cleaned. I asked one of the waitresses if they could check. They came back to let us know they didn't see anything. They asked a busser who cleaned our table that had walked in from outside the restaurant. He quickly said I didn't see or grab anything. They kept telling us they didn't see anything so we walked out. The same busser walked outside and when he saw us he quickly walked back in. At this moment my dad has strong belief that the busser took his sunglasses. We asked the manager to please check the cameras. She was rude and with an attitude said she would check the cameras. 15 minutes pass and she comes back with a photo of my dad and I walking in and tries to justifies that he never had sunglasses to begin with. I really hope something is done about the manager and the person who STOLE my dad's belongings. This isn't right. I would think twice about bringing in valuable items when you eat here. Denny's on Hesperian in Hayward. Ambiance is nice as is the staff. Servers most attentive. However I found it to be a "wanabe" restaurant such as the Black Bear. The price per item is somewhat same however if you ask for any changes they charge extra. I asked for a change a veggie hamburger and instead of regular hamburger. I then asked for onion rings instead of fries and a cup of coffee, the surprise, $23.00 The hamburger was simple tomato and lettuce not a Five Brothers or even Nation's veggie hamburger. The only place nearby that's open late is Dennys. Visited this place 3x and every time we eat here there's always a problem. Came with fam and friends, they forgot one order. They kept saying its coming 3x but we were almost done eating and 2 of our kids are still waiting for their food. Second, no utensils this time and no server. Waited for so long. Today four of us enjoyed our lunch at the new Dennys on Hesperian in Hayward. The food was very high quality, served hot and exactly as ordered. Our server Yaritza, was both very friendly and professional. The restaurant ambiance was lovely, with a large crowd but not over noisy. I tried so hard not to write this review but the truth of the matter is that I am absolutely crushed as a Hayward resident of 40 years to be this disappointed in such a beautifully built Dennys. This is my third time coming to this Denny's, so I'll go into each experience. First and foremost, one may say well what do you expect, it's Dennys, but this has got to be the worst ever experience of service I have ever received from a chain restaurant. My first experience was about 4 days into their grand opening. You will wait in the lobby and never be greeted unless you literally walk into the kitchen to demand the host. I swear I had to do that, they literally walk by you as if you don't exist. We waited so long I had no choice but to walk in the kitchen and say something. Then, you'll never be asked for your drink order unless you get up and demand someone to see you. When I ordered my drink which was a "Diet Coke", she didn't even know what that was...... how do you not know what a Diet Coke is?!?!? And this lack of attention continued throughout my experience. I figured, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and say it's a new restaurant and new employees who may be new to the restaurant industry. So I left it alone.... My second experience is why there is two stars instead of one star, the morning shift is super busy but they run the restaurant perfectly. I happened to know the regional manager who was there helping operate.... No complaints on that second experience. My third experience was tonight. Again....never got greeted, to the point the security guard went to call the host from the back to greet us. Then we sat at the table for 30 minutes, we were not seen at all. We just got up and left. This was for me the straw that broke the camels back. DENNYS! Fire your night crew and get some real employees who want to work, not just stand around awaiting for pay day. read more

My review is solely based in on our server, Norma. She came to our table quickly and took our drink order. When she came back my husband's Arnold palmer had no ice. My toddler reached for his apple juice off the tray and Norma said "no, wait I don't want to get burned." Since there was a toddler wouldn't you think to serve our drinks on the opposite side of the table....especially since one drink is hot. When Norma took our order we had to pause so that she could take her order (she said the tablet was lagging then she said she could not find things) For example my son ordered the all American slam and then had to wait 30 seconds to say how he wanted his eggs than another 30 seconds on his bread and 30 seconds again on making his pancakes chocolate chip banana. Seemed like she needed more training on her tablet. She never came around asked if my boys needed more water or if my husband wanted a refill on his drink. I had to flag her down and ask. Overall the service could have been better. In observing the server in front of me. I think her name was Jaqueline. She seemed to be taking order down quickly (there was no lag on her tablet) and moved around her section often and followed up. I'll probably be back because of the convenience of the location but will be asking for a different server. read more

Worst Dennys I have ever eaten breakfast at. We sat there and waited 40 minutes before anyone acknowledged as that we were waiting to order food! Finally this Alexa decides to walk over to take our order. Really playing it dum like she didn't care that we're waiting. I ordered the Lumberjack Slam. It took another 30 minutes before our food came. I was peeved. Alexa forgets to bring my salad before the meal. Had to ask her to bring it. She had a really bad attitude to have to go get my salad. Then finally comes our meals. My eggs were brown and scorched over cooked. The bacon crinkled up and burnt on the sides. I asked her for Sourdough Toast which she didn't bring also. Then she served me untoasted white bread instead of sourdough with smeared running butter all over the toast. Really horrible tasting bread and soggy! Alexa also forgot my wife's fruit with her meal as well. Multiple mistakes on our orders . Extremely bad management and food quality. The head manager has zero clue and was completely lost trying to figure out what her waiters were doing or whose orders they had . They need to sorely get it together over there. No paying attention to detail whatsoever and don't care one ounce about customer service I will never ever step my foot into this Dennys again for food. Just terrible all around. Expensive. Slow. Awful food. Came in to get a burger. Both menus they gave us were completely different. Everything I asked about, our server didn't know the answer to. This was sort of okay, because he was willing to get the answers. But it took longer than expected. I ordered a beyond burger. The server told me the bbq sauce would come on the side for some reason. 20 minutes later when I got the burger, it was a real beef burger. There is no bigger cardinal sin in service than serving a non-veggie meal to a vegetarian/vegan. We took a look and told him they got it wrong. He corrected the order, but it took another 20 minutes. When we got it, we got the simplest, most unsatisfying burger. It had bbq sauce in it, which is fine, but it was still pretty dry. When I went to pay, I expected a $13 bill. I got a burger and a tea, which was a single packet and hot water. It was $21+. For one burger. And some fruit. And tea. $25 with tip. I'm never coming here again. read more

I ordered a Turkey club sandwich with the TURKEY BACON. The cooks had the nerve to serve me RAW TURKEY BACON on my sandwich! I had to flag down a waitress to have the kitchen cook my turkey bacon! I'm NOT sick (I did not have the pork bacon), and the parents are NOT SICK (they did not eat here)!! WTF IS WRONG WITH THIS LOCATION!! THIS IS PEOPLES LIVES YOUR DEALING WITH!
