It's always a fun time at Denny's, no matter what you are in the mood for. Some great breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, dessert, drinks, late night cravings, or even put a dollar in the claw machines to see if you can get lucky and pick maybe one or two stuffed animals, or whatever else is in those machines. I LOVE Denny's very much. We have been here at least 5 times in the past, but this is my 1st review. This Denny's is a nice, large size with countertop seating, two nice size dining rooms, 2 restrooms for each gender. BTW, it was super clean along with the entire restaurant. Fine music playing overhead. Walked in yesterday around 12:45PM and was greeted by Chub. Even though on the receipt it has the name Out. Please correct that. It can be very confusing. Got seated right away and Chub herself came to take my order and checked on me several times. I was starving since I was across the street at AAA taking care of business. I got their Full 3 egg Veggie Omelette with: fresh spinach, sautéed mushrooms, fire roasted bell peppers, onions, tomatoes and Swiss cheese. Side of Hash Browns. ($17.49), Asked her to make it well done and that's exactly what I got. I ordered side of fruit too. ($5.19). Since I was hungry, I also ordered their Cali Club Sandwich with: turkey breast, Applewwod smoked bacon, ham, lettuce, avocado, tomato, light mayo, with a side of corn. On 7-grain bread. ($15.79). Nothing to drink. Stayed with water. What surprised me the most is that a robot approached my table by the name of Jenny with 4 trays inside that machine. To me it was funny, yet stupid...both at the same time. Technology is advancing by the minute. My server said "it helps them a lot". Oh well... Another server by the name of Ivan also checked on me to make sure everything is going well and it was. Food tasted delicious, fresh and for the portions, was very affordable. The location wasn't too busy when we arrived, and we were seated right away. The service wasn't the fastest, but I packed my patience that day. I ordered the country fried steak, and it definitely hit the spot! It was good and satisfied the craving I had. The prices are also very affordable, which is a huge plus. When do our robot overloads achieve total domination? Well, that day is coming soon, as a robot delivered our food, tableside, at Denny's. Somehow, he/she navigated a dozen other tables and people, arriving with everything we ordered, super hot and not one spill. AND was friendly. Six of us at table, and not one frown. Denny's food, which I had not tried in years, is pretty good! We got everything from burgers to an omelette to (me) the Cinnamon Roll Pancake Slam (pancakes with cream cheese icing, two eggs, hashbrowns and bacon or sausage -- $14). And do not sleep on the smoothies here, the strawberry/banana was a hit. Despite being quite busy, the human service was also great. One bite to the right and you get hit with bacon and one bite to the left you get hit with sausage and then as you continue eating, everything comes together. Hash browns used! We used to frequent this Denny's on Alameda. It had been a while since we last visited. From the beginning the service was off. The manager's demeanor was not welcoming (an older asian lady). Our waiter had difficulty taking our order in English. I am bilingual and switched to Spanish to help him out. He still had difficulty understanding in either language that I simply wanted to switch the eggs for hashbrowns. I ended up getting something else since it was impossible for the waiter to understand my simple request. If that was not enough, the manager rudely interrupted us during the order to talk to our waiter about another order. Not once did she apologize. The food was OK. While my wife and I were talking after finishing our meal, the waiter pressured us to pay up. As we paid, the manager/owner did not bother to smile or say thank you. She had a constant scowl on her face. If you want to be welcomed by an unhappy manager with a constant scowl on her face and deal with inept waiters that can't understand basic English or Spanish, then this is your place. We had dinner at this Denny's for the first time in a long time and it was surprisingly good! I got the Alaskan Salmon (I know, Alaskan salmon at Denny's!) and husband got the Chicken Fried Chicken. I was denied a table because of my service dog and the lady was really rude about it, too. At first she said they can only have dogs on a leash and they have to be under the table and we said that was fine because I have a leash and then she rolled her eyes and made us leave anyways. We stopped by this location right before an event nearby Saturday evening. It was quiet with lots of seating and parking. Our host/waiter was so sweet and accommodating. I could tell he worked hard to ensure customers had a good experience. I believe his name was Ruben. He was such a friendly and positive guy! The food was delicious as well! My steak was cooked perfect and my husband got the brisket and Mac n cheese. The brisket was amazing. I'm still thinking about it. I always have great experiences at Denny's. We knew it wouldn't be a quiet table, but we did our best to keep the kids calm. What made the experience frustrating was the manager, who gave us constant judgmental looks and made us feel very unwelcome. To be clear -- our server was amazing. Super friendly, patient, and helpful. But the manager's attitude ruined the visit. At the end of our meal, he refused to honor the Denny's app discounts or my sister's military discount, claiming it was a national holiday -- but the app never said discounts would be restricted. It's nostalgic goodness that brings me back to late nights out on the town (Hollywood/Sunset Strip/Cahuenga Corridor) and needing this type of meal to soak it all up at the end. We went to the Burbank location along Alameda in the same plaza as Pavillions. The manager seated us right away and it wasnt too busy that night. The staff INCLUDING THE GM here really need retraining on how to work with the public. I had a legitimate complaint about my food, and the GM actually cut me off mid-sentence. He wouldn't listen before charging my card, and even afterward he still refused to hear me out. I clearly requested that a specific item not be included because I'm allergic, yet my sandwich still came with it. The cook told the server he made it that way because it wasn't written down, which is completely unacceptable. Thankfully, I caught it before eating it. Then, when the server couldn't get my gift card to work, the GM stepped in only to discover the machine wouldn't work for him either insinuating there was no money on it when there was $15 on it after-all once he manually entered it. After the bill was finally charged in full, I asked if he would listen to my complaint now, and instead of giving me the chance to speak, he told me the server apologized but neither my child or I heard him say that!! Some of the communication they had in front of us was them talking in Spanish. I understand Spanish, which I let the GM know as he was talking to the server. He mentioned worked there for 30 years. I've been coming here for nine years and have never once seen him. When I tried again to explain the situation, he still refused to let me finish, repeatedly cutting me off and telling me to "have a nice holiday" in a very dismissive and condescending way. The entire exchange made me feel disrespected and unwelcome. I'll start by sharing this experience here, and I plan to reiterate everything to Corporate as well.
