"That's gonna be a no from me, dawg!" The service was very good, even though the faux chicken sandwich patty I ordered was small and didn't merit the $17 price tag. The fries for $2 were plentiful, but it didn't seem to balance out. Unseasoned, unsalted fries. I wish they put the ingredients of the chicken patty. I had no idea what I was biting into. It tasted weird and super dry. It also stunk like a gas leak inside. They kept having to tell customers it's the pizza place downstairs. It was also hot as heck inside. I figured their AC was busted but they actually only switched it on when more customers came in. I selected this restaurant since they participate in the InKind network but I don't intend to return.

This is one of the better vegan restaurants I've tried for American food! Everything they had emulated their meat cousin very well. From the cauliflower wings, chicken sandwich and meatball sub. Its very filling too, we had this for lunch and was too full to even eat dinner!

I was in Dupont yesterday, doing apartment hunting. As the day started to wind down, I walked across this beautiful little nook, with folks coming in at opening time for dinner. The staff were kind enough to accommodate me, despite not having a reservation. The seating inside was very clean and reminiscent of an Art Deco era or possibly having a Jazz club feel to it. As a former vegan for one year and growing up with vegetarian parents, I've tried a variety of plant-based foods - I was accompanied by my father on this dinner - we were certainly looking forward to critiquing this place. We ordered a few things off the menu: Bucatini and meatballs, Grilled vegetable bowl, Mocha with oat milk, NY style cheese cake and a chocolate mousse cake. Firstly, the pasta sauce was savory and delicious, very fresh tomatoes, noodles were thick and had the perfect bite, and the meatballs were moist and flavorful. Both the salad, which had come complementary, and the grilled vegetable bowl, were the perfect contrast to the hearty entree. The combination of the earthy eggplant and italian peppers, and the smooth and zesty house vinaigrette, felt like a symphony. It's what other salad places are trying so hard to be. The balance, healthiness and taste of these dishes were so satisfying. It's rare that I don't feel like adding anything more to a dish. The chef has certainly curated these meals to perfection. Moreover, the food came out almost instantaneously and the staff were experienced and attentive. Also, I like trying coffee and desserts, wherever I go. It gives me an equal playing field to compare places. I took these to go - the coffee was one of the best Mocha's I've had - the cakes were also very upscale - a great ending to an ever greater meal. Overall, we left the restaurant feeling rejuvenated and enjoyed the experience. Highly recommend this place to vegans and non-vegans alike, and can't wait to try DC Vegan again soon!

Cold calamari, but pictures well

I will start by saying I am not vegan but have been to a good selection of vegan restaurants and this is by far the most mediocre. I ordered the calamari and the Buffalo cauliflower. Neither of these were even warm. Calamari was whatever and the cauliflower was fine but I like Buffalo sauce and that is really the only reason. At the table there was also a burrito and French toast, a bowl and pancakes. The burrito was a disaster that both people who ordered it struggled to eat as it immediately falls apart. The pancakes were the only thing that looked like maybe was tasty. Mind you all of this is way over priced like appetizers in the 20 dollar range. Service was also some of the worst, server was rude and irritated from the start and had to ask repeatedly for simple things like forks, and my coffee which took about 20 minutes for some reason. I will say the one vegan at the table does like this spot and comes kinda regularly.

Wedding Soup and king trumpet "calamari"

Absolutely loved the food here. Walked in on a chilly fall night and the atmosphere here was so cozy and welcoming. The mushroom calamari was light, crispy, perfectly seasoned and not greasy at all. The wedding soup had amazing depth and flavor and was full of fresh vegetables and herbs. So so so comforting. Blessed that such great place exists. Hope I can visit again soon! Service was prompt and attentive too.

Pro-tip - get one of everything! The menu is pretty extensive and everything was so good! The cheeseboard was so fun, the artichoke sandwich was delicious, and even though I didn't save room for dessert, I'm glad I got it to go. It's pretty small inside, but wasn't too busy with an early reservation. Come hungry!

Incredible vegan food tucked away upstairs in DuPont circle. The food is so good - and so many varieties. We loved the lasagne and the eggplant rolatini but honestly everything that came past us from the kitchen looked amazing. We treated ourselves to vegan cheesecake and unlike the normal dessert - weren't left with a sugar rush/crash. Service was lovely and friendly. The ambiance is sweet and I especially loved the cute antique looking china dishes.

Side Salad

Complete Vegan Place in DC. Ordered the Lasagna which came with side salad. The salad was yummy. Although the lasagna seemed very tangy due to the marinara sauce on top which didn't match my taste. It wasn't worth 32$. They had a small seating and reservation is required. Small restaurant which is pretty packed .

Any time I travel, scoping out the best food, particularly vegan, is on the priority list. I was craving vegan brunch and decided to stop in to DC Vegan as it was only about a 15 min. walk from my hotel. Staff - I was greeted immediately and sat promptly. The woman who waited on me throughout my dining experience was very pleasant. I overheard her greet everyone with "hey friend/s" which warmed my heart. Food - Let's start with the king trumpet calamari; it literally blew me away! I enjoyed this more than real calamari, which says a lot considering it's one of my favorite appetizers. The batter, the crunch, the marinara, the parm - 10s across the board. I also had the breakfast wrap which unfortunately, left more to desire. I enjoyed the breakfast potatoes that accompanied the dish but the wrap itself lacked flavor. I also really appreciated the standard offering of bottled sparkling or still water. All in all, I'd certainly return to try more menu items and at the absolute least, order more of that delicious king trumpet calamari!

Enna J.

Friendly service. Small, casual atmosphere. There's also a limited amount of to go vegan desserts and cheeses available for purchase. Overall the food was good, although inflated in price.

Breakfast Wrap

My family and I were staying in DC right near DC Vegan. You better believe I made multiple visits there. We first visited during the late afternoon "brunch" menu time of day. My wife ordered a bowl with scrambled tofu, bacon, home fries, sausage and sauteed peppers and onions. The bowl comes with an aioli that my wife asked for without. We both felt this dish was a bit on the salty side. Perhaps the aioli cuts down on that? I ordered essentially the same thing as a burrito (Breakfast Wrap). It did not have bacon or sauteed veggies but everything else was the same. I preferred the bowl as the tortilla was gluten free. Different texture than I'm used to with my regular flour tortillas. I also ordered an appetizer of buffalo cauliflower (really good texture and flavor) and a mocha (excellent flavor). The next day I returned and ordered a pumpkin whoopie pie, latte and French Toast. The highlight of everything I tried, definitely the French toast. It features caramelized baked french toast with powdered sugar, whipped cream, seasonal fruit and maple syrup. The caramelized texture was great! The flavors meshed well and did not feel too terribly sweet. I loved having the freedom at DC Vegan to order anything on the menu without worrying about vegan substitutions. I wish I had more time because there was so much more I wanted to try. Definitely not cheap. Spent well over a hundred dollars during my two visits.

Chick'n Caesar Salad

The chick'n caesar salad was INCREDIBLE. I ordered via Uber Eats and it was one of the great "I can't believe this is vegan" moments. Wish I had been able to stop by the restaurant!

I loved every single thing I ate at DC Vegan! They do an amazing job of making the favorite foods that we know and love in a healthy and sustainable way. The service and recommendations were spot on and the menu options plentiful. This is a fantastic place to eat if you want to eat well and eat tasty.

The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, making it a great spot for dinner. We decided to sample a variety of dishes, and everything was deliciously presented. Drinks: Cherry smoke show and Emperor's old-fashioned. Food: We ordered the bang, bang, broccoli, thousand layer crispy potatoes, beef, and broccoli, spicy tuna roll. Sweet ending: The sticky toffee pudding Moriah, our server was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall experience. Definitely a good time.

This time was a little different. I had the red dragon roll and I couldn't quite tell it's vegan and not actual dragon roll of some sort. And then I also tried the thousand layer potatoes, which was nice, but I don't know if I liked it that much. And I got the Unagi eggplant which was really really good. I also really like eggplant at baseline. Other people got the sprig and run drink (it's under free spirits and it's a mocktail) and they loved it. Two of my friends got the udon and mushroom - they loved it (clean bowls). So I enjoyed it but only for special occasions. It's not very affordable to come to Planta regularly you see (or maybe I just need to have a better paying gig hahah) ... a roll and a nigiri plate came out to be over $30 ... which is somewhat typical in the expensive city of DC. In the end, we all concluded Planta Bethesda has more options whereas this one is more Asian fusion type of food (which I love). But I'm still dreaming of that miso salmon tofu from Planta Bethesda (now a year later? Also higher end prices for me and can't afford to go too often). They do only have two bathroom individual stalls and for some reason it took a while for my friends to use the restroom (she said one person was trying on outfits in there?!) and it can get a little messy in there with the trash bin, but it probably isn't consistently so...

LOVE THIS PLACE & ERRRYTHANG ABOUT IT!!…read more When it comes to fast, fresh pizza that can be made unique by you or ordered from a list of pre-crafted pies...&Pizza got you covered! I feel like a kid in a candy store every time I come here. I mean any and every topping you can imagine is available for you to create a "Picasso of a Pizza!" If I could eat &Pizza every day...I would! I mean he#! (heck..lol) why not, their pizzas meet the standards of the USDA food pyramid. I mean despite the calories, I can get all my nutritional needs all met in one place and in one meal: meats, veggies, dairy, fruits, and grains! WHAT!? Holla, if you feel me! LOL. THE VIBE Modern space, friendly helpful staff, and great prices. You walk in and will be immediately greeted. Next, you choose your crust, sauce, veggies, meats and cheese. You can make your own pizza as healthy or extremely indulgent as you'd like. And, I am not kidding....this place keeps it real!! They are very generous on the toppings too. Once satisfied with your choice of toppings, in goes your pizza into a giant commercial-sized 'Easy Bake' Oven for a brief few minutes. Before you know, it is done and ready to be served.! THE FOOD For the extreme carnivore as myself, my " go-to" is: THE MAVERICK --Caution...for MEAT-LOVERS ONLY!!! Classic tomato, mozzarella, salami, pepperoni, Italian sausage, pesto, parmesan....PLUS, I customized it with everything but the kitchen sink....Pepperoni * Spinach * Bacon * Meatballs * Cherry Peppers * Green Peppers * Spinach * Onion * Roma Tomato * Fresh Mozzarella Balls * Tomato Sauce * Rosemary * Chili Oil!! Imagine all that baked goodness in one bite! And, if that was not enough, I like to finish it off with the pesto, basil and garlic drizzle! Talk about heaven and Buddha rubbing goodness!! TO SUM IT UP You can't go wrong coming here. I highly recommend! No matter what you order at &Pizza, if you're trying to stick to a healthy diet, you'll need to adhere to one important rule: "......Don't eat the whole damn thing"...but that's impossible when coming here!!

Like every establishment on this planet, you order at the checkout counter unless obviously stated otherwise, which it wasn't. I stood there for a minute looking at the menu before the young man behind the counter gave me a blank look and turned to look at one of this employees. That female employee then told me to go to the opposite side of the shop to order from the ladies working hard behind the glass screen making the pizza. The order sign? Miniscule. Even if you come through the front entrance you would probably miss it. Not only that, the female employee said it like it was OBVIOUS. It's not over yet, after I ordered, I walked over to the pick up spot to wait, thinking that you pay once the pizza is finished. Nope, once again, that same female employee looked at me and said "You done? Then NOW you go pay" dramatically pointing at the checkout counter. Again, like it was obvious, and I'm the idiot for not knowing how things work in their shop. The other employees just stared at me all amused. The cherry on top was when I was receiving the pizza, I ordered the American Honey, which is suppose to come with hot honey, hence the name?? I asked for it at the finishing station where you can ask for toppings like cheese and such, only because I can see that it did not have any on it. I told the first guy, I saw him nod his head, then stand completely still and not do a single thing. So then I asked for parmesan and he finally did something. The whole time he did not say one word to me, and looked like he was dragged here by his mama to work. So in the end, I got a mediocre pepperoni flatbread with nothing special but with a nice BIG side of attitude and horrible customer service. It felt like being in a pretend pizza shop ran by a bunch of teenagers for mandatory volunteer hours. Like, I've been treated better at shady gas station counters. I highly do not recommend coming here and wasting your time and money.

The serving size of the dishes I ordered were medium to small. The service was far less satisfactory than food. I tried the following dishes: 1. Complimentary pita: ~40g per piece. Not salty and paired well with the other dishes. Definitely get some! 2. Lahmacun: The lamb+beef mixture was tasty. It came with 4 pieces. 3. Branzino: ~6oz. The fish was grilled to perfection; juciy tender, and the skin was nicely charred. It was served with freh parsley and seasoned grilled tomato (salt+oregano I think). 4. Imam Bayildi: Half of an eggplant topped with sauteed onions and tomatoes. While itself was pretty normal, it went so well with the Ottoman rice. 5. Ottoman Rice: The true highlight of all the dishes I tried! It was basically Basimati rice cooked with dried apricots, raisins, almonds & pine nuts mix, and seasoned with black currant. Overall it was warm, earthy and lightly smoky. The apricot slices added some delightful sweetness and juiciness to the dish. Should pair well with Labneh, chicken and seafood. But to be honest, I can simply eat this stuff along for a whole meal! 6. Tabbouleh: They went against the traditional recipe by substituting the bulgur with quinoa and added some pomegranate arils. I liked the special texture of quinoa. The sweetness of pomegrante arils also enriched the flavors. However, I had to constantly spit the seeds when enjoying the salad. 7. Kofte: Adana style ground beef patties. Just like what I make at home haha! I ordered it as an add-on to my salad at lunchtime. It came with only 2 pieces which weighed no more than 3oz in total... Despite the delicious food, service was disappointing. The first time, the dinner, was Okay. While my food came out slowly, at least my server was aware of it and asked me how I liked the dishes. The second time, the lunch, was horrible. Even before I was seated, my server made me feel that he was reluctant to serve me, and emphasized that I had to order asap. "Luckily", I had already decided what to order. After I got my dishes, no one in the restaurant asked me if the food was Okay. And at the check, my bill was thrown onto my table. In comparison, the two ladies dining next to me came even after I started eating, but were greeted warmly and were given lots of time to decide what to order; not to mention that the staff gave them lots of suggestions, asked about their dining experience, and even chatted with them about sightseeing in DC, etc. Such discrimitory treatment is really unacceptable.
