So Planta made some of my favorite drinks. I had a Delicious lychee cocktail and I also had a delicious elderflower drink. The bartenders know what they are doing. There are a number of other drinks I want to try. I had the matcha cheesecake and it was also Delicious! I must go back. The bar area was fun. It's a nice looking spot. This restaurant is all vegetarian. I enjoyed the creativity and variety of food options. However, l need my protein. The sushi was decent. I felt like something in the flavor profile was missing.

I thought it was impossible to make delicious gluten free AND vegan food. Planta proved me wrong! Many of their offerings are GF and vegan, and everything is delicious. My group shared the Firecracker maki, Chick'n fried mushrooms, poke bowl, and the Singapore noodles. While all the dishes were great, the poke bowl was the stand out, followed by the Firecracker maki. How DO you make the mushroom bacon, Planta?? It's amazing. I look forward to coming back next time I'm in DC!

During our visit, we were disappointed by the level of service and overall dining experience, particularly because it was such a stark contrast to the excellent experience my husband and I had at this location just two days earlier and later in the evening . Throughout our meal, we had three different servers, yet there was very little communication regarding who was responsible for our table. One server was inattentive despite there being only a few occupied tables in the dining room. Several items were not entered or delivered correctly, including a side of grilled bok choy and requested spicy mayo that never arrived. Most concerning, I finished my meal nearly 20 minutes before my guest received her Korean Chick'n Sandwich, creating an uncomfortable dining experience. The lack of hospitality continued throughout our visit. We were never offered a dessert menu, after-dinner drinks, or a refresh on our cocktails. We repeatedly had to wave down employees for assistance, including requesting a to-go box, ordering tea, clearing soiled dishes, and ultimately obtaining our check. After the second entrée was delivered, no one checked back on our table. Communication among the staff appeared disorganized. I was asked multiple times whether I wanted iced or hot tea, and a third server eventually approached our table without introducing herself or informing us that she would be taking over service. We later learned that multiple server transitions had occurred due to shift changes, but this was never communicated to us during our meal. While the restaurant was not particularly busy for most of our visit, there were significant delays in food delivery, missing items, and a noticeable lack of attentiveness. The experience fell well below the level of hospitality I have come to expect from Planta, especially having dined at several of your locations in different cities and consistently receiving excellent service. I am sharing this feedback in hopes that management will review the service issues we experienced and provide the necessary coaching and training to improve communication, attentiveness, and overall guest experience. Unfortunately, based on this visit and inconsistency. I would definitely hesitate to recommend this location or bring future guests here. Thank you for taking the time to review my feedback. Sincerely, Mrs Rhone

Food: 9/10 - Everything I had was amazing. The BANG BANG BROCCOLI was the most favorable dish that impressed me. My father and I really enjoy bang bang broccoli and the sushi (spicy tuna rolls and TORCHED & PRESSED). Service: 8/10 - Waitress was very pleasant, knowledgeable, and gave good recommendations. Ambiance: 10/10 - Has a nice upscale restaurant type vibe. Came on a weekday for a quick bday lunch so it wasn't crowded at all, but I will try to come back for dinner one day to see that experience as well. Parking: 6/10 - there's parking garage on the left side of the restaurant on M st. Took a while to find parking and the garage. Overall: It was my first time coming here and I will most definitely be back. Favorite vegan spot in the city!

This was my first vegan dining experience in a high end setting and it did not disappoint! Every time I've been, the staff has been super accommodating. Recently, I went with a group of friends and saw two other friends sitting across from our table. The staff kindly joined the tables together and were attentive the whole night. Let's get to the food! First, the crispy broccoli is a MUST!! I would come back here just for the broccoli. It's fried to perfection and the accompanying sauce adds to it. Their sushi rolls are surprisingly good and you don't even realize you're not eating meat. This time around, I got the spicy crab hand roll and wasn't the hugest fan. Felt a bit oily to me. Friends also got the Dan Dan noodles and the kimchi fried rice. The rice was a 10/10 and the Dan Dan noodles were perfectly seasoned but also tasted a little oily to me. Overall, would definitely add this to my rotation.

So happy that this restaurant exists. The abundance of vegan options never disappoints. Very good deals on holiday prix fixe menus!

Just went back to planta queen for maki monday- it was incredibly disappointing and terrible service. It took 25 minute for our server to come over to greet us. Didn't even have water for almost half an hour. We finally were able to order and everything came out at once. The manager (I think it was the manager he didn't introduce himself), he sent some items to our table (not enough bao buns for our number of guests in the party). No one explained what any item was when it came to the table and finally, once the maki came out, we had to take soy sauce off the servers station because no one offered it to us. Finally, it took 20 minutes to get the check. I'd save your money and go elsewhere. The service and staff alone make this place mediocre at best.

We came back to PLANTA for a birthday celebration, and it was the perfect mix of fun, flavor, and creativity. Every dish had something memorable about it, and the service made it feel like a real occasion. The Bang Bang Broccoli was an absolute standout -- crispy, saucy, and bursting with flavor. The Dan Dan Noodles with tofu were another hit: creamy, spicy, and deeply satisfying. The Beef & Broccoli was a clever, elevated twist on the traditional version, while the Volcano Roll delivered a delicious blast of flavor (though the rice was a little wet and didn't hold together perfectly). The Chick'n Fried Mushrooms had an amazing texture -- perfectly crisp with that meaty bite -- but could've used a bit more seasoning. Overall, it was a fantastic meal that felt celebratory and fresh. The only thing I'd love to see from PLANTA is a bit more protein-forward options across the menu to round out the experience without having to add the $4-$10 add-ons. Still, it's easily one of the best spots in town for inventive, plant-based dining.

As a meat eater...this vegan restaurant absolutely blew my mind. Got a few appetizers and sushi rolls as my main entree- absolutely spectacular, delicious, fresh- and tasted like "the real thing!" Although embarrassing, I included a photo of my face/reaction when I was eating my sushi roll because it was that delicious (and it was watermelon as "tuna"). As a gluten free person, this restaurant is also extremely accommodating and easy to eat at. Many of the items can be made GF (with cross contamination as a risk), though they have a celiac menu for reference as well (with no risk of cross contamination). Ambiance is beautiful - service was great. Can't wait to return & get some sushi rolls to go!!!

First time trying a vegan restaurant as someone who rarely eats meals without a meat or fish protein as the focus. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Fun and lively ambience with a cool factor. Cocktails were great. The food was delicious. I was pleasantly surprised about a couple items that I was unsure of. Specifically my favorite dish was the bang bang broccoli. I couldn't stop eating it!

Came here for their late night happy hour. Service was spotty.. lot of staff standing around chatting, possible because it was near the end of their shift. The value you get for their happy hour menu was decent. Being that we were visiting from Los Angeles, food was just ok. Ordered the Kimchi Bao - to find out there was no kimchi in it, we were not advised until we inquired, as the dish appeared lacking from what the menu described the dish entailed. The fried cauliflower sauce was an absolute sodium salt bomb. Decor of the establishment was very nice.

Yummmmm We had such a good meal here tonight! The happy hour has great deals, don't miss the eggplant or the mushroom udon. All the drinks were great too, honorable mention to the spirit free margarita.

    JAPANESE SWEET POTATO
    Shailee M.

Had high expectations from this plant-based restaurant, but overall it was just fine--not great. Tried the Bang Bang Cauliflower, which was a unique dish with a flavorful sauce. The Japanese sweet potato was absolutely delicious and easily the best dish of the night. The Maki sushi was also good, with the salmon-like carrot being an interesting plant-based take. On the downside, the Dan Dan noodles were very bitter and not enjoyable--though to their credit, they didn't charge us for it. The interiors are fancy and upscale, but the restaurant is quite expensive for the overall experience.

Yes, they do. Just notify the host/server when you go in or when you make a reservation online.

    Is there outdoor seating?

Hi Bo, I was there about a month ago and at the time there was no outdoor seating. I'm assuming there isn't any now either just because of their location. They do have ample seating indoors. I'd recommend making a reservation. Hope you enjoy!

Like every establishment on this planet, you order at the checkout counter unless obviously stated otherwise, which it wasn't. I stood there for a minute looking at the menu before the young man behind the counter gave me a blank look and turned to look at one of this employees. That female employee then told me to go to the opposite side of the shop to order from the ladies working hard behind the glass screen making the pizza. The order sign? Miniscule. Even if you come through the front entrance you would probably miss it. Not only that, the female employee said it like it was OBVIOUS. It's not over yet, after I ordered, I walked over to the pick up spot to wait, thinking that you pay once the pizza is finished. Nope, once again, that same female employee looked at me and said "You done? Then NOW you go pay" dramatically pointing at the checkout counter. Again, like it was obvious, and I'm the idiot for not knowing how things work in their shop. The other employees just stared at me all amused. The cherry on top was when I was receiving the pizza, I ordered the American Honey, which is suppose to come with hot honey, hence the name?? I asked for it at the finishing station where you can ask for toppings like cheese and such, only because I can see that it did not have any on it. I told the first guy, I saw him nod his head, then stand completely still and not do a single thing. So then I asked for parmesan and he finally did something. The whole time he did not say one word to me, and looked like he was dragged here by his mama to work. So in the end, I got a mediocre pepperoni flatbread with nothing special but with a nice BIG side of attitude and horrible customer service. It felt like being in a pretend pizza shop ran by a bunch of teenagers for mandatory volunteer hours. Like, I've been treated better at shady gas station counters. I highly do not recommend coming here and wasting your time and money.

The serving size of the dishes I ordered were medium to small. The service was far less satisfactory than food. I tried the following dishes: 1. Complimentary pita: ~40g per piece. Not salty and paired well with the other dishes. Definitely get some! 2. Lahmacun: The lamb+beef mixture was tasty. It came with 4 pieces. 3. Branzino: ~6oz. The fish was grilled to perfection; juciy tender, and the skin was nicely charred. It was served with freh parsley and seasoned grilled tomato (salt+oregano I think). 4. Imam Bayildi: Half of an eggplant topped with sauteed onions and tomatoes. While itself was pretty normal, it went so well with the Ottoman rice. 5. Ottoman Rice: The true highlight of all the dishes I tried! It was basically Basimati rice cooked with dried apricots, raisins, almonds & pine nuts mix, and seasoned with black currant. Overall it was warm, earthy and lightly smoky. The apricot slices added some delightful sweetness and juiciness to the dish. Should pair well with Labneh, chicken and seafood. But to be honest, I can simply eat this stuff along for a whole meal! 6. Tabbouleh: They went against the traditional recipe by substituting the bulgur with quinoa and added some pomegranate arils. I liked the special texture of quinoa. The sweetness of pomegrante arils also enriched the flavors. However, I had to constantly spit the seeds when enjoying the salad. 7. Kofte: Adana style ground beef patties. Just like what I make at home haha! I ordered it as an add-on to my salad at lunchtime. It came with only 2 pieces which weighed no more than 3oz in total... Despite the delicious food, service was disappointing. The first time, the dinner, was Okay. While my food came out slowly, at least my server was aware of it and asked me how I liked the dishes. The second time, the lunch, was horrible. Even before I was seated, my server made me feel that he was reluctant to serve me, and emphasized that I had to order asap. "Luckily", I had already decided what to order. After I got my dishes, no one in the restaurant asked me if the food was Okay. And at the check, my bill was thrown onto my table. In comparison, the two ladies dining next to me came even after I started eating, but were greeted warmly and were given lots of time to decide what to order; not to mention that the staff gave them lots of suggestions, asked about their dining experience, and even chatted with them about sightseeing in DC, etc. Such discrimitory treatment is really unacceptable.

This location was much better and their staff were very friendly and helpful. It's a large location and who wouldn't want to grab a bite here and then find a seat at the beautiful waterfront. I ordered the falafel bowl with a side of hummus. Let's just say that for $5 that bowl was extremely generous in quantity and the fresh quality of each item was AMAZING! I thoroughly enjoyed my bowl. The side of hummus was sinfully good! Something I wouldn't mind ordering again to enjoy with their delicious pita chips Overall, I don't think I'll be visiting any other location but this one because they were fantastic!

Appreciate you can try different sauces to dip your fries or add to your sandwich or bowls. Only reason they didn't get a 5 star on this last visit was how long it took to get our order. It was a Saturday night, so we did mobile ordering and pickup. It said it would be ready within 3-15 minutes. I arrived 12 min after our order was placed. They were quite busy - and seemed the two employees working were a bit overwhelmed. There were a few people waiting for food, a line to order, they were out of containers for sauces, and some of the sauces were empty. I ended up waiting for an extra 25 minutes until I asked to check on an order - it was apparent from their reaction, our order got lost in the shuffle. Once they realized, they made it right away, which was appreciated. However, they grabbed a bag of fries that had been sitting on the counter since I walked in - so they were cold. Good thing - they do great in the air fryer! I've never experienced these issues before and it won't stop me from returning, definitely felt like a bit of an off night for them. Solid food, great cause, and one of the best affordable options for a quick bite at the Wharf! Recommend them!

Tucked into the heart of Dupont Circle with its unmistakable bright blue awning, the restaurant is intimate, moody, and always buzzing. Inside, you'll find dim lighting, a handful of cozy wooden bar booths, seats along the bar, and a few outdoor tables. It's not a huge space, which only adds to its charm and makes every reservation feel like a win. The atmosphere is perfect for sharing dishes and lingering over dinner with friends. The food was incredible...I genuinely loved every single bite. Just be prepared: the Sichuan spice is no joke! If you aren't expecting it, it'll definitely sneak up on you (in the best way). My must-orders? The chili wontons, Dan Dan noodles, and beef noodles. Every dish was packed with bold flavor and left me wanting to come back for more. If you've been trying to score a reservation, keep at it. Astoria is one of those places that's absolutely deserving of its reputation, and I'll be thinking about those noodles until my next visit.

Inside had small tables and a kinda casual cocktail bar vibe Beef Noodles - the highlight and actually very good! The noodles are long and handmade and chewy. They hold onto the sauce very well! The sauce has a slight kick and is very savory. The beef is soft and also flavorful! I feel the price for the portion is kinda expensive though 8/10 Chili wontons - skin is silky and soft, sauce is savory with a small kick as well! Even though the sauces look similar to beef noodle they taste very different. The fillings had good flavor and overall were good but were a bit tougher and dryer than I would prefer. 6/10 Crab fried rice - crab is slightly overcooked but naturally sweet. It has a light curry taste throughout and was pretty good but didn't really stand out 5.5/10 Mapo tofu - slight kick and nice savory taste in the sauce! However I think they cut the tofu pieces way too large or the tofu they chose had way too much tofu flavor that overpowers the sauce. I'd prefer a very light silky tofu but this was a soft tofu. 6/10 Vpod - at first it just tasted like orange juice but then the other flavors peek through on the after taste and when I mixed it more. Even though it was good, it still felt very basic 5/10 Philadelphia Scotsman - it's pretty ginger forward. Technically the level of ginger spice is fine but strong but then the rest of the drink got completely overpowered and so this just wasn't that great 2.5/10
