A complete vibe! I came here with a coworker of mine the day before 4th of July for lunch and drinks, and I left full and happy. There is a parking garage around the corner of the restaurant so that makes things very convenient. The inside decor is gorgeous and is chic but also funky fresh. I got grilled octopus over a bed of bean salad that had pieces of pomegranate in it - 10/10. The savory taste of the octopus paired against the sweetness of the salad was really delicious. Went there twice to taste different kinds of Turkish dishes. One time for dinner and the other for lunch. Overall the food was good. The serving size of the dishes I ordered were medium to small. The service was far less satisfactory than food. I tried the following dishes: 1. Complimentary pita: ~40g per piece. Not salty and paired well with the other dishes. Definitely get some! 2. Lahmacun: The lamb+beef mixture was tasty. It came with 4 pieces. 3. Branzino: ~6oz. The fish was grilled to perfection; juciy tender, and the skin was nicely charred. It was served with freh parsley and seasoned grilled tomato (salt+oregano I think). 4. Imam Bayildi: Half of an eggplant topped with sauteed onions and tomatoes. While itself was pretty normal, it went so well with the Ottoman rice. 5. Ottoman Rice: The true highlight of all the dishes I tried! It was basically Basimati rice cooked with dried apricots, raisins, almonds & pine nuts mix, and seasoned with black currant. Overall it was warm, earthy and lightly smoky. The apricot slices added some delightful sweetness and juiciness to the dish. Should pair well with Labneh, chicken and seafood. But to be honest, I can simply eat this stuff along for a whole meal! 6. Tabbouleh: They went against the traditional recipe by substituting the bulgur with quinoa and added some pomegranate arils. I liked the special texture of quinoa. The sweetness of pomegrante arils also enriched the flavors. However, I had to constantly spit the seeds when enjoying the salad. 7. Kofte: Adana style ground beef patties. Just like what I make at home haha! I ordered it as an add-on to my salad at lunchtime. It came with only 2 pieces which weighed no more than 3oz in total... Despite the delicious food, service was disappointing. The first time, the dinner, was Okay. While my food came out slowly, at least my server was aware of it and asked me how I liked the dishes. The second time, the lunch, was horrible. Even before I was seated, my server made me feel that he was reluctant to serve me, and emphasized that I had to order asap. "Luckily", I had already decided what to order. After I got my dishes, no one in the restaurant asked me if the food was Okay. And at the check, my bill was thrown onto my table. In comparison, the two ladies dining next to me came even after I started eating, but were greeted warmly and were given lots of time to decide what to order; not to mention that the staff gave them lots of suggestions, asked about their dining experience, and even chatted with them about sightseeing in DC, etc. Such discrimitory treatment is really unacceptable. read more

Was able to do a walk-in on a recent Thursday evening. I had been many times before, but it had been a while, so it was great to dine at Agora again. Everyone in my group loved the assortment of small plates that we had. We considered getting the lamb chops, but it only comes with 2, and there were three of us, so we opted against it. Was so eager to try bottomless brunch here because I love Mediterranean menus but this one ended up being very underwhelming. For the food, taste just wasn't there across the board. The best thing were the chicken skewers. We upgraded to the premium drinks and was glad we did because the margaritas and strawberry vodka ones were fan favorites amongst the table. Was advised by a bartender to not order the gin lavender one and they were right because it was horrible. Very limited dessert options but the donuts tasted like pure oil, not enjoyable. Service could've been more efficient, we had to ask for someone to come so we could put in more orders multiple times. Came here for brunch and wow, everything exceeded expectations. The appetizers were incredible, especially the labneh, hummus, and baba ghanouj, all packed with flavor. My favorite dish was the lamb shoulder, it was so juicy and so tender. The flatbreads were also a great addition to the table. For dessert, the lokma and fruit platter were the perfect, light way to end the meal. It was pretty busy around brunch time that it was kind of hard to have a proper conversation. The pita is dry and I wish I saved the dips to go with the main course. Second Course: - Gavurdagi Salad: 5/10. Watered down. Do not recommend. - Mücver: 5/10. Similar to a Latke. It was dry and I wouldn't have been able to swallow it if it weren't for the sauce! Third Course: - Börek: 9/10. Reminded me of spanakopita just in egg roll form. I've been here twice now and have had a great experience. I recommend getting a spot on the outside patio if the weather is nice. It is covered and you can watch all the Dupont atmosphere pass by on the street. I'm a big fan of Mediterranean food. And it didn't disappoint. They were also really good with kids as my partner and I have 5 year olds. They not only have kids menus but crayons and unique coloring activities that were perfect for our son and daughter. We ordered the dip sampler, the grilled chicken and manti, which are dumplings stuffed with meat and topped with cream. The kids loved the pita bread, as did their dads. The pita was so delicious and we kept dipping it in the complimentary olive oil with black olive tapenade. The dip sampler was good, but we didn't love all the options as part of that mix like the red pepper dip or the fishy roe. Finally, the wine selection is unique here. It consists of a lot of Greek and Turkish wines. We aren't as familiar with this regions o appreciated our server allowing us to taste the wine before committing. Most of it was hard, so that was disappointing. The beef dumplings were also hard and didn't have a lot of flavor. Luckily, dessert was awesome. The pistacho dessert was surprisingly delicious. I came here with a few friends one Saturday evening, and we had a great dining experience. Everything tasted absolutely amazing. We started with the sampler spread, which included smaller portions of all the spreads. It was enough to share among the four of us, and they are very generous when it comes to the pitas. For my drink I ordered the hibiscus spritz, and for food, I ordered the Borek, the Branzino, and a side sauce of the toum. I loved everything, but the branzino was probably one of the best I've had. Like .... nothing was good about this experience lol. First, our server dropped an entire tray of cocktails on my friend. To apologize, they washed her clothes and gave her a fuzzy quarter zip (it was 90°F) outside. We were also told that our drinks would be comped to accommodate, but that was in fact not the case when the bill came around. Unfortunately, I tipped even though our server sucked and the service was terrible. We had a party of 6, 4 girls, 2 guys, and us girls had to order through the guys because the serve just did not take our orders at all. Made eye contact multiple times to try and get his attention to place and order and he would just ignore us. But was very attentive to the guys... Also the food was always cold when brought out, also was brought out insanely slow. Additionally, my friend has a horrible gluten allergy, and she as well as all of us had informed the server that, yet the concern was disregarded and she was given food with gluten. When asked if there was gluten to confirm, our server said that there was none. She had a severe allergic reaction. As another apology, a free dessert was brought out. Once again, confirming if there was gluten or not, and was told it was gluten free. Once again, not the case. This was just a very frustrating experience. I had been to this restaurant before, and didn't have the best time, so I had decided to give it another shot. This was much worse, and I definitely will not be returning. Agora is in a prime location surrounded by iconic DC restaurants. The interior is absolutely stunning and there is plenty of seating inside and outside. The staff was incredibly nice and attentive. We got the sampler for the table which included a tasting of various spreads. The table's favorite spread was the Taramasalata. It consisted of cod roe mousse, olive oil and fresh lemon juice. Dropping a star because it is slightly confusing with portion sizes. I ordered the Sis Tavuk which came with chicken thighs. The staff said the portion was only two small pieces so we over ordered. It ended up being two huge chicken pieces, one thigh and one breast. We felt that we were being told the same with all the other items, sometimes it was true while other times it was not. We brought our mothers here for Mother's Day because we wanted to try something different from our usual spots of Remi's Kitchen and Ilili. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, we were seated upstairs. The initial table offered to us was not suitable for 6 people, and when we approached the table it had five chairs. However once pointed out we requested another table. The food comes out as it's ready with the intention to curate a family style meal. As for the food we ordered: hummus, roasted beetroot salad, Tabbouleh salad, ottoman rice, cauliflower, imam bayildi, grilled prawns, branzino, lamb chops x3, and grilled chicken. We were also accidentally brought htipiti. Some of the highlight were the hummus, beetroot salad, cauliflower, and eggplant. The proteins were unfortunately underwhelming as the lamb was fatty, the prawns slightly overcooked and chewy. The branzino and chicken were fine. On a trip to DC was catching up with family and after much research driving on I95, we ended up with this place. The restaurant is in a bohemian kind of a neighborhood and has both outside and indoor seating. Even at 9:30PM it was fairly crowded but we were lucky enough to find seating. We started with Baba Ghanouj, Mixed Mushrooms, Hummus and the Saganaki (Flambéed Tableside Kasar Cheese), which looked cool in the videos but a bit uneventful when it arrived, but tasted great. All the appetizers were actually spot on and very flavorful. I ordered the Adana Kabab, which was very tasty but the portion was very small. Actually all the portions were small which prompted us to order additional appetizers. Lastly we got the Kunefe which was extremely rich and tasty. I've been here a couple of times. My first experience was a solo experience. And I would say I much enjoyed that experience. The second time that I came was with a large party! Service was great. The food was great. However, I feel like I wasn't able to enjoy the amazing food that this restaurant had to offer. Simply because it was a large party and everything is served family style. We were quite disappointed by our experience here, particularly as our experiences have been so positive at the Tysons Corner location. To begin with, although the restaurant was not particularly crowded, the service was very slow and inattentive. We seemed to be waited on by two people, but it was unclear. The food was average, and most items took a while to come out. Among other things, we ordered the anadolu manti (dumplings) which are limited quantity, but they were a bit overcooked and disappointing. Frankly, our highlight was probably the spread sampler, and not any particular entree. It took quite a while to receive our check and then upon leaving we were urged by one of the service staff to leave a review...so alas, here we are. It had the hints of rosewater and was a nice turkish version of the dish. It is pretty difficult to find Kunefe in D.C. so I was excited to see it on the menu. They also have a variety of drinks to choose from. The service was also great despite it being a busy restaurant. Be wary of sitting outside.
