Lovely spot! Every time I'm in town staying in AdMo we hit up Meze and it never fails. It feels authentic and the taste are always great. I've never had a bad meal here and the dips/Meze are all phenomenal. The beet dip in particular has my heart and is something I genuinely crave constantly. Service is always good and friendly. Ambience is great. It's very casual and you can make it into whatever kind of evening you're trying to have! Absolutely love Meze and will be back next time I'm in town.

My daughter suggested this place for a family celebration and it was a great choice! Our server was an absolute joy - great suggestions on the menu and a lot of fun all throughout our meal! We started with a couple of dips - the Atom and Pembe Sultan. We followed that with a couple of things from the garden section - Sigara Boregi and Mucver. These were delicious and my favorites of everything we had. We also had the Karides Sote (shrimp) and Salmon Kebap. They topped it off with an unexpected and fun birthday dessert! We had a great time!

I came here with coworkers for a dinner reservation. Although the inside is a bit cozy they were able to accommodate us even though we were a large group. They have an outdoor dining area as well for more room. We tried the 15 item group menu which was great for a party of 10 people. Personally both the chicken and lamb Sis Kebabs were favorites. Everything was delicious and good portions. Their cocktails were great as well. Service was on point with the servers bringing food at the right time. Overall a solid Turkish meal experience.

I came here for a birthday via resy recommendation, I did the all you can eat brunch for two hours but it wasn't anything like super amazing. And for $45 plus tax and tip (30%) it was just a bit much, food was decent but the sliders were probably the best thing I had. The servers were pretty neutral. I don't think I would be coming back though. I was expecting more.

I had the best time with my friend at Mezé. We were walking along 18th street and loved the outdoor seating Mezé had with green vines all around and plenty of overhead fans. We decided to sit down for brunch there because we just wanted to go inside of the cute patio they set up. Our server was extremely attentive. We ordered the baba ganoush and dolmas. Both items were clearly labeled vegan which made ordering so simple. Additionally, our server asked if there were any allergens or dietary restrictions and I let him know I was vegan. I really appreciate when servers take extra care in ensuring they are aware of any special diets at the table. We also ordered mojitos. My friend had a mango mojito and I had a virgin mojito. I love how my mojito looked identical to my friend's. It always makes me feel special when the alcohol-free option is as festive as the alcohol one. My drink was so refreshing! There was the perfect balance of mint and sweetness. It was just the right drink for the 80 degree weather. Pita comes complimentary to each table and it was delicious! Very fluffy and I love that the pita was already cut up. It made sharing the bread so easy. The bab ganoush was good. It was not too heavy on the eggplant and not too smoky. It was light and seasoned just enough. The Dolmas I wish I ordered two of. I love dolmas! Theirs was filled with plenty of rice and flavors and not dripping with oil which I appreciated. Overall this spot was the perfect place for appetizers with a girlfriend. I will definitely go back for a date night. I enjoyed the ambiance, service, and food. There are many more vegan options on the menu I have to try, and cannot wait to eat there again.

My wife and I went here on a whim and were so happy with our decision. We sat outside in the streetery which was unassuming, but the food was amazing and the service was great--we got the Karisik Kebap platter and by the end the only thing left was some rice. Not to mention that the prices were pretty reasonable (we got food and drinks and spent $80-$90 before tip). The cocktails were a little pricey ($14-$17), but they had a nice selection of beers (imported, domestic, and local) $6-$8. Overall, I'll definitely be going back and would recommend for anyone looking for some tasty Mediterranean food at a good price.

Delicious food... fabulous service... nice atmosphere- heck, yasssss! All was good! - We enjoyed the Happy Hour appetizers (humus, gavur dagi and dolma). - The blackberry mojito was ok and the white wine was pretty good. - The sigara boregi (cigar shaped pastry with feta, parsley and dill) was fantastic. - The tavuk kofte bagendili (chicken meatball) was very small, but yummy! Give this enjoyable spot a try- there's a reason they have many years of success. :)

Our group of 6 made a reservation for dinner. We were promptly seated outside, as we requested. The servers were friendly and attentive, bringing us extra bread when we needed and constantly refilling the water. The drinks were well made, especially the Turkish coffee martini. However, the food was not as good as we've had at other Mediterranean restaurants. For example, the lentil soup had a grainy texture which wasn't my favorite. And the "shepard's" salad was very small for the table. Pictures of some of the food are attached. We did appreciate that the receipt clearly showed the tip already included for our large group.

Meze has never let me down! Excellent attentive service for our group of 10!!! We were able to reserve outdoor seating online. All the food was good. I love the complimentary bread and olive oil and the mojitos. Great for vegetarians and meat eaters alike and attentive to food allergies.

Steak Frites

I had a hankering for Mediterranean food, so we decided to try out Mezze because we have only heard good things. The restaurant is very small, yet sleek, with a beautiful bar, dimmed lighting, and a very modern interior. This set up is perfect for a date night or an intimate one-on-one dinner meeting. Onto the food! We honestly didn't order too much because we were not too hungry, and this was our began regret. We began with the Baba Ghanoush and then ordered the Steak Frites for our entrees. The pita was so warm and soft, and when dipped into the Baba Ghanoush, which was whipped to a perfect light and fluffy texture, the combination was delicious. The Steak was small but was mashed down to be thinner, so there was an illusion of feeling like I was eating a portion bigger than it truly was! The meat was incredibly tender and even with being so thin, they mastered the  warm and melt in your mouth center with the pan seared crunchy exterior. I honestly was amazed by this concept. And I could not stop eating the fries. They were so crispy and skinny, yet not too fried at all, which I love. They were delicate and flavorful. I do regret not trying more things, as literally everything on the menu looked phenomenal, and I went with such a basic entree for the variety they had (especially when the reason we chose here was because of my specific craving). However, even going with such a classic option, my taste buds were elevated to a new dimension. I am incredibly excited to come back and try more food here.

Iskender Kebap

I must admit that I was suspicious before giving this Turkish restaurant in DC a try as a Turkish citizen, (you never know these days) but Mezé Restaurant met my expectations %100. Also, I had no idea that they are the oldest Turkish restaurant in DC-- Wow, that is so cool. I ordered Iskender Kebap which was originally $26.50+ but somehow I have gotten a %40 off by Uber Eats-- I was like "hey I take it." Haha. It took little over an hour for meal to be cooked and driver to bring it to my unit in NoMa which is about 2.2 miles from their location in 18th Street. The ingredients were clearly high quality and fresh. Fried tomato and brad underneath the lamb meet for instance were delicious as heck. Especially the meet was so good. It was not super soft but yet the taste was lasting a few seconds in my mouth. The yogurt to pour over the meet could have been homemade to be honest but it was still delicious. Btw, Yogurt belongs to the Turks not Greeks damn it! Just kidding. Or do I?:) Overall, my experience has been great. I would definitely recommend for my friends and hopefully I can have the opportunity of dining in someday. Ustamın Ellerine sağlık :)

Got the chance to check this restaurant out after it was recommended by a friend. The outdoor dining was lovely and the food is magical! We ordered and shared all dishes because we wanted to try as many goodies as possible. Our waiter Día was super helpful in making great recommendations. We had the dip trio (hummus, one with roasted red peppers, and one with beets) - all were amazing and the bread they give is fresh making it hard to stop. For dinner we shared the scallion patty/pancakes, chicken kabob platter and the lamb shank. Both came with rice and some veggies. The lamb fell right off the bone and the chicken was flavored so well.

One of my best friends and I went to Meze for a much needed catch up session. What's better than doing that over all you can eat and drink brunch? We loved the inside of Meze; it's super cute! We sat at this great little nook upstairs. Our waitress was AMAZING. At the end of our meal, we learned she was new and in training. I was shocked because I can only say the most positive things about her. She was attentive, made great recommendations, super friendly, and always made sure our beverages were full! The drinks were made extremely well (you could taste the alcohol which isn't always the case at all you can drink brunch) and the food was delicious. We tried the eggs Benedict, hummus, Istanbul burger, Brussels sprouts, quinoa kofte, dolma, sigara boregi, all the cheese, and the French toast. We enjoyed everything immensely- my favorites were the quinoa kofte, dolma, and the sigara boregi but I would get everything again in a heartbeat. I can't wait to return!

Brunch review ahead!!!!!…read more Ambiance- perfect for a cute date, time with friends, family members, or coworkers. The ambiance welcomes it all. Hospitality- The hostess was incredibly friendly and seated us upon arrival. Waiter- Eric was an AMAZING waiter. Bubbly personality, very polite and personable. His service was definitely a 10/10 Brunch- My friend and I decided to try their Easter Sunday brunch and my only regret was not visiting here sooner and not selecting an earlier time to dine, LOL! The entire experience was phenomenal! Bottomless mimosas- SO worth the extra $ Standout dishes: Adana meatballs Braised lamb Chicken Golden cauliflower Crispy Falafel Desserts: Baklava Brownie Kadayıf Sadly we did not get to experience all of the brunch menu items because brunch ends at 3pm and our reservations were at the heel of this time. Nonetheless, the standout dishes and desserts were enough for me to come back. I've enjoyed their happy hour, cafe area, and now their brunch. Can't wait to return.

Was warmly greeted, seated, and given an overview of the menu and brunch package options; decided to opt-out of the bottomless drinks, which had an alcoholic (mimosas and Bloody Marys) and NA (juices, sodas, drip coffee and black tea), as I wanted to try their more speciality coffee and tea. The drinks I ordered were the Turkish coffee, Levantine-style tea and digestive tea. All were quite solid. The Turkish coffee was as robust as espresso, yet not overwhelmingly bitter and slightly sweetened. The Levantine tea was a smooth black tea with natural sweetness and layered with a mint steep and floral notes of hibiscus, and rose petal. The digestive was more herbaceous with fennel and pomegranate zest, in addition to a steep of spearmint. The food was more hit-or-miss. On one hand, the meat and seafood was all very delicious and well-made. The braised lamb shank is their speciality, and well-deserved, as it's moist, savory and tender. The short rib similarly so, and the chicken casserole, lamb biajeen, Adana kebab and steamed lavraki (sea bass) were all similarly flavorful. On the other hand, the sides and mezze options were more mixed; the dolmas and fresh bites cheese with za'atar/nuts were delightful, however, the borek, cheeses, and some of the dips tasted reheated and/or not super fresh, the Brussels sprouts were quite scorched, and the savory salmon waffles were bone dry and flavorless. The French onion soup had the right flavor profile, but not the intensity; it tasted watered-down and even looked it, due to the noticeable oil blebs on the surface. Dessert was similar; the melon and fruits were fresh enough, the yogurt bar was quality, the kadayif nutty with the sweetness balanced, and the layali lubnan was intoxicatingly tasty, but many of the baked goods looked rather packaged and the fondue station was mediocre. The staff, however, were extremely friendly (my special regards to Mia, she's a great conversationalist and a sweetheart!). They answered all my questions, and one of the bartenders even gave me half a lemon to zuzh up my tea with. As I said at the start, more 3.5 stars than 3 stars. The core of their offerings are all quality, so I can't quite dock them a full two stars for the food quality because they had buffets aren't usually renown for said quality. You really can't expect perfection from AYCE, even though I naturally encourage the management to avoid sourcing pre-made items from Sysco if possible. The friendly staff and eloquent Eastern Mediterranean ambiance allows me to still say I enjoyed this experience, and may be back for dinner in the future.

HISTORY OF PRESENT INDULGENCE: Couple presents with chief…read morecomplaint of needing a good lunch while hanging out in the area. Walked by storefront and decided Uyghur food sounded way better than Chipotle. PHYSICAL EXAM: Food - Two dishes sampled. The Chop Fried Noodles presented as noodles diced down to a fine, pastina-like consistency -- a preparation I had not previously encountered. Smaller than gnocchi bites. Crisp vegetables were well-integrated throughout, and the flavor profile was savory and deeply developed. Scooping more bites became borderline and compulsion. The Fried Lamb Shank was excellent. Properly fried with no excess gaminess, yet retaining full lamb character. The naan served beneath it functioned as an outstanding sponge for juice and flavor absorption, in addition to itself shining as a fragrant, comforting bread. The cuisine overall blends Middle Eastern and Chinese influences -- aromatics, warming spices, bold umami -- into something unique and hard to find outside of the few Uyghur restaurants that exist. Ambiance - Felt like a family-run establishment with a clear sense of identity -- comfortable, intentional, and built first for their own community. It was quiet during our visit at a weekday lunch hour, but the layout and menu size is conducive to large groups without issue. Easily missed storefront on a street most people are driving by to get in and out of the city. Service - Attentive. Hospitable. Friendly. ASSESSMENT: A highly functioning, underdiagnosed gem. Uyghur Eats delivers a cuisine that many diners don't have meaningful exposure to. Sampled dishes both possessed a balance of restaurant extravagance with homestyle feel. Both dishes were standouts. Broad menu requiring more frequent visits to truly taste it all. PLAN: 5 out of 5 highly recommend assessing Uyghur Eats for yourself. Follow up in 3 months - try other dishes at follow-up.

They pride themselves as a healthier spot and the food definitely reflected that. We started off with drinks (they only do happy hour at the bar) and got the Mojito and the mediteranean martini. Both were good but the purple mojito was definitely the star of the show. For appetizers we got the "fried" cauliflower and the hot appetizer platter. The cauliflower definitely felt more baked then fried and the portion was quite fair. The hot appetizer platter comes with 2 cheese rolls, 2 falafels, and two kibehs. I will say, for $17, I would love perhaps 3-4 of each item instead of just 2 each. The kibeh were super tasty and so were the cheese rolls, but the falafel were a bit dry. For our mains we got the lamb chops and the steak kabob - both were fantastic. Simple flavors but really well done on both ends, with both cuts of meat cooked to order. I will say, I would love a little bit more side veggies- especially for the $45 dollar lamb chops but I assume they expect you to order more sides like we did. It's one of those places where it just feels good to be out for the evening. As to the food: the vegetable dishes are outstanding. I am not big on dips, usually, but I was won over by the mutabal, made with squash tahini, mushrooms, and shallots. It is served with a delicious sesame crusted bread, that could be addictive if you are not careful. The star of the evening was the crispy brussels, with black garlic caesar and hot honey. My word! This was like no other brussels I've ever tasted. Even the steamed spinach, tucked away on the menu in the "sides" section, was really tasty. The proteins, by contrast, were disappointing. The calamari was ok but nothing special. It came breaded rather than lightly battered - not my preference. The torsh shish - tenderloin shishkebab - was under-seasoned and a bit fatty. I was surprised it didn't have more of a grilled, smoky flavor. But the real disappointment was what was supposed to be the star of the show: the short rib tagine, with apricot, bulgur wheat, and labne. With that description, I was expecting the meat to arrive on a bed of the other delicious ingredients, but instead we got a brick-shaped piece of meat with a dab of something else. It was tender enough, and tasted ok, but really...just ok. For the price I was expecting something a little more special. The desert aficionados among us had praise for the chocolate pot, but the Persian Love Cake did not get a lot of love. For the drinks: for a Turkish/Greek restaurant I was surprised that wines from those countries were not available by the glass. Alas, there was no Greek wine to be had, and the Turkish wine could be had only if you were prepared to cough up $90 for a bottle. As I was the only wine drinker in the group, that was not going to happen. Next time I might go for a mocktail. The fermented carrot juice was funky and mystical and perhaps the best thing we had all night, beating out even those brussels sprouts.
