This restaurant has continued to improve. Last time we were there for their happy hour and were pleased. This time it was a dinner and we were even more pleased. The food was delicious and the portions were sufficient to take home leftovers. The interior is nice and the chairs are comfortable. The servers make you feel welcome and either the manager or the owner would come by from time to time to check on us. It looks like they manage a good take out business as well. If you haven't been in a while, give them another try!

Restaurant is decent. It was a bit chilly and service was ok. I got the falafel wrap on the lunch menu since we asked and we were able to order on that one despite it being dinner time. The falafel was good but hummus was meh. The fries also got cold quickly and weren't crispy. The appetizer we had with filo and feta was a little heavy but I liked how it went with the salad. Ok spot not sure if we'd return but another restaurant nearby was an hour wait so it was an ok alternative.

I'm sad I've gone past this restaurant so many times without giving it a try because it's so great! Daphne was our server and was super helpful and lovely. Went on a Tuesday and their dining room was empty, but it seemed like there were plenty of takeout orders. It was a casual contemporary space with plenty that could possibly even host small events. We started with the cold appetizer sampler platter to try all the dips. They were out of a couple (ezme and baba ghanoush), so we got a extra of the others and each were delightful! The hummus was substantial and creamy. The tzatziki was so creamy and refreshing. The mast-o-laboo was a very yogurt dip and that's exactly what it tasted like, which was a great addition. And the muhamarra was mild and super nutty. All the dips were SO thick in the best way and I'm looking forward to ordering the dips for parties in the future. The accompanying pita was fresh and soft. Next we got an arugula salad and crispy potato cakes. The potato cakes were like fancy tater tots, but it wasn't oily. The salad was a real show stopper. It also included tomatoes, cucumbers, and bell peppers. The crunch and freshness was fantastic. We asked for the dressing in the side to maintain the crunch longer. It was a surprise highlight since we were expecting a boring plate of arugula. Got the chicken shish kebob that came with a small salad and rice pilaf. The seasoning on the chicken was gentle and it was cooked to perfection, not dry at all! The salad was lovely and another surprise highlight was the pilaf. It was perfectly seasoned and a little buttery and well cooked. Left smitten and was so happy to have some pita and dip the next day. What a great neighborhood spot. I can't wait to return!

My friends from out of town visited and I wanted to treat them to dinner. We chose O Kabul for the large portions. Don't get me wrong, the food was delicious because Turkish food is so easy to love... BUT, the service was lacking to the point where I felt embarrassed. When we ordered our drinks, the server looked worried as if he didn't know anything about them. They took 20+ minutes and tasted nothing like the description, it was sour and salty at the same time... ‍ we had to ask for a sweetener. Only then did he tell us the bartender was sick and not working. Next, I ordered a chicken dish and I was brought beef instead. That was an easy fix and my dish was remade. We thought all of the traditional desserts sounded delicious, so I asked for "one of each" as a table. The server proceeds to bring us four of each dessert, one for each of us. I don't know how that would ever make sense considering we were full from dinner.... not to mention it racked up an extra $100 on the bill. I tried to clarify and I was told I had to pay for them because they are made fresh and can't be sent back. I wanted to treat my friends for visiting me, but we were all so embarrassed and upset that we settled for splitting the bill because we were forced to pay for things we did not order. The owner did it all with a smile on his face, despite having unsatisfied and confused customers. I was told to come back and be treated better the next time, but I seriously can't even bring myself to walk past the place without getting stress flashbacks. 2 Stars for tasty food but wow that sucked.

It was pretty good, but it lacked seasoning on the food but big portions.

It was a cool spot to try out, but definitely not coming back. The food was mid, but big portions. I just wish it had some more seasoning in the actual meat

So happy we came across this amazing place. Staff was awesome and we were seated quickly. Ordered the hummus, dolmades, and the waiter suggested the platter which was a sampling of all their meats. Man am I ever glad he did! Everything was outstanding - they even made the hummus fresh for us. Couldn't have asked for a better meal - will definitely come back when I'm in DC.

First time after recommendations through word of mouth! Amazing food for a decent price. I went in with no expectations and was left wanting more. Not busy at all for a Tuesday afternoon. Service was good and overall clean establishment. I will be back.

Its too expensive, we pay for 2 person food 90 dolar , 18 % service fee that's crazy , there is nothing different but that's store is really expensive ..

Stopped by on my way out from DC before heading to the airport. I got to try their ayran, lahmacun, baklava with ice cream. I will first say that the interior of the place is certainly beautiful, and the staff seems to be fairly nice as well. Bit formal. But, in terms of the food, I just wasn't that impressed. The lahmacun just lacked flavor. There was very little spice; in fact, for whatever reason, it almost tasted a bit sweet. The ayran was also a letdown. Usually, I love ayran, but this one just tasted like milk. At least it was served in a cool metal container. They served some complimentary bread too, which was nice, but even that seemed a bit industrial. For dessert, I got to try the baklava with ice cream. It's nothing to write home about, in full honesty. Bit dry, not much flavor. All in all, I was a bit disappointed. It s a gorgeous spot, but the food just fell a bit short for me. Maybe I'll come back to try some kebabs.

We ordered the dip sampler, the grilled chicken and manti, which are dumplings stuffed with meat and topped with cream. The kids loved the pita bread, as did their dads. The pita was so delicious and we kept dipping it in the complimentary olive oil with black olive tapenade. The dip sampler was good, but we didn't love all the options as part of that mix like the red pepper dip or the fishy roe. Finally, the wine selection is unique here. It consists of a lot of Greek and Turkish wines. We aren't as familiar with this regions o appreciated our server allowing us to taste the wine before committing. Gypsy kitchen This…read moreplace is quite good. I really love the charcuterie board and the cauliflower was amazing. This was the first time I've been impressed by charcuterie from a restaurant. The Spanish cheese (Mahón) along with the crackers and mustard sauce was superb. All the meats had their own characteristics and unique flavors but the jamón stood out to us the most. It even went well with the sauce that came for our cauliflower dish. It was fun piecing the components together to make unique tasty bites. I would come back just for the charcuterie alone. The drinks we got were Angelli's Ferrari along with the espresso martini-ish. My favorite was definitely the Ferrari one, but the espresso martini was super mild and had a slight coffee flavor. Good for people who like very light coffee. The Ferrari one was very bright and had lots of fruity notes to hide the alcohol. For entrées, we had the shakshouka, crispy, cauliflower, and brunch pork belly. Out of all these the cauliflower was definitely my favorite; super light with good earthy flavors and nuttiness and acidity from the lemon. The brunch pork belly was good too. The meat was perfectly cooked, but I found the beans to be a little bit overwhelming. I'm not a fan of baked beans personally so that might've been my fault for picking the dish, but I still did enjoy it and the pork that was well cooked made up for it; definitely for someone who likes beans. Shakshouka was very hearty with a lot of tomatoes and red vegetables in general. If you like lasagna or any sort of tomato spaghetti dish, you will like this one. I found this to be a bit much though. I was slightly tired of the flavor at the end. Just be aware it is a bit spicy. We had a pear tart for dessert. Honestly, it reminded me of an apple pie and it was good, but I think that some of the other desserts would've been a bit better. Had a lot of sweet cinnamon notes along some crispy flaky dough from the outside. It was an interesting take but it was still good. The atmosphere is great here; we had seating on the second floor, so it was different from the busy first floor. Very relaxed and there's a lot of natural light coming around which made everything feel very welcoming. Our server was also super friendly. I will definitely be back at this place

The pita bread is thick and garlicky and oily and massive. The croquettes would be at the bottom of my list simply because they're dissimilar from any I've had before and a little bit underwhelming. The tuna was fresh but it's a small dish and not much to write home about. The lamb skewers have a subtle kick to them and they're pretty substantial. I'll definitely be back to try more!
