Our first here! We chose it because of the good reviews on THIN crust pizza. First off, all the employees were really friendly, which was nice. Secondly, the pizzas were both fabulous! 1. personals with 4 free toppings (including meat, which is nice!): diced ham, spinach, sliced tomatoes, and mushrooms, reg. sauce. 2. sausage, red onion, diced green pepper, tomatoes. Cheese blend: mozz/provolone (you don't see provolone offered much and in my opinion it is the BEST for pizza). Sauce (we had reg. tomato sauce and spicy tomato sauce). The tomato sauce had a wonderful FRESH texture (like it came from fresh tomatoes or from Italy, nice bright light red color). Pizzas were really good (and better than & Pizza, in my opinion). Crust was especially good (thinnish, but with a nice puffy texture, too). We saw several people coming in to order while we ate outside (tables with umbrellas). If you've been following me you know I love pizza in all shapes and sizes. This was my second time going to this place and I feel like a pro (The first time I wasn't sure how to order and the guy behind the counter came and explained how things worked). Pizza is great! Lots of cheese! Quickest pizza place I've ever been to and super friendly and helpful staff. Pizza's are around $10 for up to 4 toppings. You can't beat the price either. Store set up causes some congestion but nothing to keep you away from trying this spot out. read more

It's a crime that I haven't reviewed this place yet, considering we order from here on an average of once a week. As some background, I don't like mozzarella cheese. That makes pizza pretty much a non-starter for me, but DC Pizza lets me customize a pizza without cheese. They get a ton of credit just for that, but even my normal-pizza-loving-wife agrees that the pizzas are great. In addition, the owners are incredibly friendly, and for close local delivery they use bike messengers who are some of the nicest people I've ever interacted with. When we eventually leave DC, DC Pizza will be one of the key things I miss. In the meantime, we'll just keep our order cadence high. read more

I love the personal pizzas here! The naturally sweet tomato sauce is great. The gluten free crust is also a great option. I love the roasted garlic option on top of the pizza, as well as the sweet chili sauce. And the rosemary/garlic topping oil is delicious. They also have great chocolate chip cookies and brownies. And Dr. Brown's soda which is tasty, as well. Everything is good here. read more

I was very happy when I found a great parking spot right across the street from DC Pizza. It can be so annoying trying to find a good parking space especially when you are craving pizza. This was my first time trying out this pizza. I picked this location based on the previous great reviews. I order all of my favorite toppings: alfredo sauce, sausage, chicken, mushrooms, spinach, beef and extra cheese. I was a little confused with the shape of the pizza. Oh! Goodness I don't why it took me this long to write this review. Considering this has been my go to pizza place in DC for years. When I worked in the area, I ate here at least once a week to the chagrin of my wife I have tried other pizzas in the city, but DC Pizza is the best by far. The staff are nice and always very friendly. Now to the pizza. It is truly thin crust so it does not feel like I am eating pasta sauce on a piece of dough. They provide multiple options of toppings. Hey you can also have them mix the base as well. I have tried different combinations until I finally settled on what is best for me. Sorry, that is a closely guarded "secret". The ordering process is simple. I can keep going, bottom line; I have never been disappointed with the service, the people, and the price. Among the best pizzas my 18 year old vegan twins have had anywhere! They ordered the Veg Me with Vegan Chorizo and they couldn't believe how good it was... and the proof was that they ate EVERYTHING including the crust which they rarely ever do. Two thumbs way up! Is it as good as &pizza? No. As other reviewers have already observed, it is hard to compete with the local giant, particularly the ampersand's unlimited topping policy, selection, and drinks. This one is in the running for best of the rest though. Notably, they do online orders and delivery, so there's a convenience factor there that many of the fast assembly pizza places can't or don't offer. And when I showed up for mine is was piping hot and they acted like they'd seen an online order before, which is always good. Their topping selection didn't impress me, but it was well executed, with peppers, mushrooms, and spinach hitting the spot. Among their free finishing options was a sweet chili sauce. Not what I'd usually get on pizza, but it works, possibly because that flavoring works on pretty much anything. Moreover, a plain cheese pizza can get pretty fancy; I got one with a pesto base and sundried tomatoes on top; doesn't cost much and it's a nice way to add some variety. Lastly, if you check in on Yelp, you get a small but delicious cookie for free. They really don't have anything other than pizza and that cookie, however, they do offer a gluten-free crust and vegan cheese, generally a strength at these fast casual pizza places. I like a lot of meat toppings, but typical meat lovers pizzas are just too much. This one had plenty of toppings, but it wasn't overly saturated by the meats. I liked the thinner crust too. I agree with the other reviewers that the crust is the highlight of this pizza. My son and I split a simple cheese pizza at 7:30 p.m. as we had had a large lunch earlier. Pizzas are "personal pizzas" that are enough for two if you're not looking for a huge meal. Sauce was good as was the cheese. This was a really good, basic cheese pizza. If I'm in the neighborhood again with a bigger appetite I'd be up for trying something more original or substantial. Staff was courteous and dining area was clean. read more
