    Green Line slice

Protest Pizza has become a weekly weekend stop for me. It's a cheerful and welcoming place with consistently excellent pizza. Located beneath DCVegan and Pea Street Yoga, you might accidentally miss it. It has 3 inside tables but ample bar and seating outdoors. There is fantastic playlist with a mix of different genres going at all times of the day. The disco ball window seats are my favorite because you can't possibly have a bad day after eating a slice under disco ball lights LOL. Protest is very popular but even when packed you can get a slices easily because they have pies pre-sliced and ready to go at the pizza bar. A whole pie order takes about 15 minutes. Their vegetarian choices are great and often named after something local. Today, I had a "Green Line" slice which had a pesto sauce instead of a tomato sauce, red pepper and spinach. The salads are tasty and made from fresh ingredients. These are not premade so you may get your salad after your slices are finished being heated up. Drinks and FroYo- this is a great combo and especially fun to have on a lazy weekend afternoon. I haven't tried their happy hour yet, but with summer on its way, I am sure I'll be back at Protest Pizza soon!

HYGGE: Really friendly staff who clearly take a lot of pride & joy in their food & their space. That kind of authenticity is infectious & inviting. I was drawn in by the disco lights, clean, eclectic, yet warm & cozy interior. unfortunately I had eaten just before I passed by but I wanted to get a look at the menu and see if there was anything I wanted to take home for the next day. They said soft serve and I had to investigate- they really sold me with the free sample. this also was more of an Italian ice style but it was still very flavorful. And their selection of toppings was also eclectic & well curated- how many Fro-Yo places have marshmallow fluff, fresh mango, raspberries, black& blueberries, gummy bears, coconut crunch, and sunflower butter drizzle (and many more)? I got a swirl of açai and tart yogurt. VERY fruit forward and real tasting- a good 5oz cup portion for $5.5 . Also their pizzas look beautiful I thought I was full until I saw them ;-) you know they are representing DC when they have a fantastic MUMBO sauce pizza oh yeah. Really nice thin crust good chunks of the chicken and pepperoncini (banana peppers) really great balance of flavors. I got extra mumbo sauce on mine. I

Protest Pizza just opened in the Dupont area, right off 17th on P Street (under DC Vegan). I'm in love with this place already. First and foremost, the pizza is delicious! The crust is nice and chewy and just enough crispy. I had their version of the meat lovers, the BBQ Chicken, and tried the mushroom slice and they were all exceptional. I like that there are ample toppings, so I didn't feel cheated at all. For their opening week-ish, slices are $5. They'll settle their menu/ pricing soon and honestly, I'll pay a few extra dollars for the quality. I don't have them, but they do offer vegan and gluten free options! The space itself is very cute. I like that it's well-lit without feeling institutional. Also, the space is nicely laid out with a good amount of seating for the space, including a little outdoor patio. They have two single stall restrooms in the back, which is awesome. As far as the bar and drinks, they carry a lot of canned beverages, including Coke products and selection of craft beers. They also have quite a few liquors. Lastly, the staff is really friendly and makes the experience special. I appreciate their attention to customers, patience with questions, and definitely belief in their products. I'm coming back here for sure!

Ordered Protest Pizza while attending a nearby event. Four of us split the "Green Line" - a pizza with pesto, feta cheese, spinach, and roasted peppers. It took about thirty minutes for Oder to pickup. I ended up eating my slices the next day and it still tasted delicious reheated. The flavors work together really well and the crust held up. With tax it was about $30 for the pizza, which seems to be the new standard in DC. Really delicious and would definitely grab another pie if I were back in the area!

Great late night pizza place with great people and an amazing vibe. The pizza is a good New York style and I'm a big fan of places that sell slices. Besides the food, the social message of inclusion and community involvement makes Protest Pizza a place you want to support and have in your community!

Quick service and great pizza! I got two pizzas by the slice-- the ally and the green line. They heat up the slices after you order, then you can get them to go or eat them fresh in their cute space. The crust was super crispy and light, which I prefer. I enjoyed the freshness of the roasted peppers and pesto on the green line, while the ally was a little richer. Both were great- don't think I can pick a favorite! Will definitely be back.

GREAT pizza by the slice! I had a pepperoni mushroom olive pepper slice that was one of the best I ever had! Plus I appreciated the political edge - picked up some excellent swag. I'm definitely going back to worship Lord Za.

You guys ... The vibe is awesome, the bartender (Jay) is wonderful, and the owners (Rick and Randy) are incredible people. Wait. I didn't even mention the pizza! It's better than Andy's. Mushroom za ftw. Their froyo is awesome too. Feeling super grateful to have this place in the hood! Really amazing people and great za!

Tonight we had the absolute pleasure of meeting Randy and Ricky -- the owners of Protest Pizza & Bar -- and wow, these two are the real deal. They've built something special here in Dupont Circle: a place where you can grab a slice, sip a drink, laugh with friends... and organize for justice all at the same time. This isn't just a pizza spot -- it's a community hub. A safe, loud, joyful space for LGBTQ+ folks, activists, and anyone who believes in showing up and speaking out. Whether you're here before a march, after a protest, or just because you're hungry -- this is where the energy and solidarity live. Pride in every slice. Power in every voice. Protest Pizza & Bar 1633 P Street NW -- right near Stead Park Late-night bites * Full bar * ‍ Protest supplies included Randy & Ricky -- thank you for creating a place where community feels like home and resistance tastes like pizza. Came in at peak dinner rush and the joint was jumping! Everyone inside genuinely seemed happy to be there. The staff were so welcoming and offered the best recommendation of the pickle fries. I will be returning probably weekly for them. They are perfect - super thin pickles spears, with the crackliest & crunchiest coating, salty throughout (shout out to pickles, we love you) and served with house made ranch. I'm usually not a ranch girl but I could eat this ranch on everything. You gotta dip your crust in it. The mumbo slice was good and satisfying but there are so many other slices that caught my eye for next time. They have plenty of cool drinks (non-alc and alc), a hot cocoa bar and FROYO. They answered my prayers for froyo in DC. They have tart and açaí with topping options like fruit, granola, honey, and most importantly Oreos. I think this spot will become a go-to for me, perfect for late night or a casual meal. Pretty affordable too!

Wow, the reviews were not wrong. Pizza was delicious, and I pride myself on knowing a good slice. Great price. Delicious and generous toppings. The buffalo chicken was very tasty, even the onions played well with the pizza and I'm usually not an onion person. The pepperoni cups were crisp, full of flavor and overloaded. I had two delicious beers as per the recommendation of Ricky, one of the owners. Service was super friendly and very genuine. With two young kids we felt very welcomed and included. Love the set up and energy. Can't wait to go back!

The salad probably had a bit too much dressing but I had the option to order that on the side so that's on me. Nonetheless, the steak, potatoes, salad, corn, avocado were all excellent. I also added chips, a lemon zest cookie, and a blueberry breeze handcrafted drink. The cookie is big and chewy, unlike others I have had. It's definitely not something to eat in one sitting. Let me start by saying that the atmosphere in this restaurant is one that is so welcoming the minute you arrive. I approached the hostess stand to inquire if there was bar seating available to which the polite hostesses provided a gentle hand gesture and oral direction to the bar. While walking to the bar area, I encountered what I presume to have been a server who was likely standing watch from a distance over his service area, who apologized as our paths met. (There was no reason to apologize, very polite nonetheless) I found a seat at the bar and was greeted by Paul. Paul was an exceptionally pleasant and answered all my immediate questions while preparing my initial cocktail during happy hour. We discussed the menu and he provided great insight which helped finalize my decision for the evening . In the meantime, bar manager Laura stopped by to ensure that I was taken care of to which I informed her that Paul and I spoke and he is making a beverage for me. For the food...the Caesar Salad is #1. I am a food snob and this salad HITS!! While enjoying my salad I inquired about their cast bourbon selection. The staff was very knowledgeable and provided a price list to coincide with their higher end selections. My 40 layer lasagna arrived some time in the midst of the conversation where Paul extended a courtesy sampling of a wine that he recommended that pairs nicely with my meal. It was perfect. I closed out my meal with an espresso type martini, at which time Paul and Laura further extended and offered me a sampling of one of the bourbons I was looking at. I cannot say enough about this establishment. I can't wait to go back and have already recommended via phone conversations to three people and I just left. The evening and encounter was more than just pleasantries with a customer, rather I felt as if I was the only one. If the owner or manager is reading this, Paul and Laura are 10+ and I will be back. Shortly after we got our drink, we received notification of an opening and were seated by 8:15. We had the burrata appetizer, Ragú x 2, and the seafood fra diavolo. The burrata was one of the best I've had since they serve it with pesto, pine nuts, and garlic bread. It was truly divine! The Ragú was not far behind. Incredible flavor and a generous portion. The seafood dish had a nice kick and had plenty of seafood, which is not common as of late. All dishes were also priced reasonably for the quality you received.
