New Pizza & Bar in town!
    Lord Edwin C.

Protest Pizza just opened in the Dupont area, right off 17th on P Street (under DC Vegan). I'm in love with this place already. First and foremost, the pizza is delicious! The crust is nice and chewy and just enough crispy. I had their version of the meat lovers, the BBQ Chicken, and tried the mushroom slice and they were all exceptional. I like that there are ample toppings, so I didn't feel cheated at all. For their opening week-ish, slices are $5. They'll settle their menu/ pricing soon and honestly, I'll pay a few extra dollars for the quality. I don't have them, but they do offer vegan and gluten free options! The space itself is very cute. I like that it's well-lit without feeling institutional. Also, the space is nicely laid out with a good amount of seating for the space, including a little outdoor patio. They have two single stall restrooms in the back, which is awesome. As far as the bar and drinks, they carry a lot of canned beverages, including Coke products and selection of craft beers. They also have quite a few liquors. Lastly, the staff is really friendly and makes the experience special. I appreciate their attention to customers, patience with questions, and definitely belief in their products. I'm coming back here for sure!

Ordered Protest Pizza while attending a nearby event. Four of us split the "Green Line" - a pizza with pesto, feta cheese, spinach, and roasted peppers. It took about thirty minutes for Oder to pickup. I ended up eating my slices the next day and it still tasted delicious reheated. The flavors work together really well and the crust held up. With tax it was about $30 for the pizza, which seems to be the new standard in DC. Really delicious and would definitely grab another pie if I were back in the area!

Great late night pizza place with great people and an amazing vibe. The pizza is a good New York style and I'm a big fan of places that sell slices. Besides the food, the social message of inclusion and community involvement makes Protest Pizza a place you want to support and have in your community!

Quick service and great pizza! I got two pizzas by the slice-- the ally and the green line. They heat up the slices after you order, then you can get them to go or eat them fresh in their cute space. The crust was super crispy and light, which I prefer. I enjoyed the freshness of the roasted peppers and pesto on the green line, while the ally was a little richer. Both were great- don't think I can pick a favorite! Will definitely be back.

GREAT pizza by the slice! I had a pepperoni mushroom olive pepper slice that was one of the best I ever had! Plus I appreciated the political edge - picked up some excellent swag. I'm definitely going back to worship Lord Za.

Cute pizza shop with great vibes, we popped in and grabbed a pepperoni and Hawaiian slice. Great service, will definitely stop by again!

You guys ... The vibe is awesome, the bartender (Jay) is wonderful, and the owners (Rick and Randy) are incredible people. Wait. I didn't even mention the pizza! It's better than Andy's. Mushroom za ftw. Their froyo is awesome too. Feeling super grateful to have this place in the hood! Really amazing people and great za!

Tonight we had the absolute pleasure of meeting Randy and Ricky -- the owners of Protest Pizza & Bar -- and wow, these two are the real deal. They've built something special here in Dupont Circle: a place where you can grab a slice, sip a drink, laugh with friends... and organize for justice all at the same time. This isn't just a pizza spot -- it's a community hub. A safe, loud, joyful space for LGBTQ+ folks, activists, and anyone who believes in showing up and speaking out. Whether you're here before a march, after a protest, or just because you're hungry -- this is where the energy and solidarity live. Pride in every slice. Power in every voice. Protest Pizza & Bar 1633 P Street NW -- right near Stead Park Late-night bites * Full bar * ‍ Protest supplies included Randy & Ricky -- thank you for creating a place where community feels like home and resistance tastes like pizza. We'll be back. Often. #ProtestPizza #DupontCircle #DCNights #EatDrinkProtest #LGBTQOwned #SupportLocal #CommunityPower #QueerSpacesMatter #ACTUP #DMVEvents #PrideInEverySlice #PizzaAndProtest #OrganizeEverywhere #SafeSpacesForAll #DCCommunity #QueerJoy #ProtestCulture #DCFoodies #LateNightDC #MakeGoodTrouble

Wow, the reviews were not wrong. Pizza was delicious, and I pride myself on knowing a good slice. Great price. Delicious and generous toppings. The buffalo chicken was very tasty, even the onions played well with the pizza and I'm usually not an onion person. The pepperoni cups were crisp, full of flavor and overloaded. I had two delicious beers as per the recommendation of Ricky, one of the owners. Service was super friendly and very genuine. With two young kids we felt very welcomed and included. Love the set up and energy. Can't wait to go back!

Came in at peak dinner rush and the joint was jumping! Everyone inside genuinely seemed happy to be there. The staff were so welcoming and offered the best recommendation of the pickle fries. I will be returning probably weekly for them. They are perfect - super thin pickles spears, with the crackliest & crunchiest coating, salty throughout (shout out to pickles, we love you) and served with house made ranch. I'm usually not a ranch girl but I could eat this ranch on everything. You gotta dip your crust in it. The mumbo slice was good and satisfying but there are so many other slices that caught my eye for next time. They have plenty of cool drinks (non-alc and alc), a hot cocoa bar and FROYO. They answered my prayers for froyo in DC. They have tart and açaí with topping options like fruit, granola, honey, and most importantly Oreos. I think this spot will become a go-to for me, perfect for late night or a casual meal. Pretty affordable too!

The BEST pizza in DC!! Not only is there a good meaning behind it, but the place is such a good vibe. They have a full bar and their staff is the absolute sweetest. Their pizza is unique and their flavors are genuinely one of the best from this area. YOU HAVE TO GET THE PICKLE FRIES!!! Also the good trouble truly was good trouble :)

    Boozy hot chocolate!

That month I had started Uber driving, was in this area of DC, had heard good things about Wiseguy, and decided to eat here. Although I don't like paying to park just to simply eat a meal, I sometimes will make an exception for convenience and/or if it's a place I really want to go. But for the most part, I'll go to restaurant where they have free parking or at least I can find free parking near the restaurant. I remembered getting a parking spot very close and feel like I feed the meter like 50 cents in 2014 parking prices for a quick 30 minute meal. They have all kinds of varieties of slices from the standard toppings or just cheese to fancy ones. Although the pizza is fairly thin, but average for New York style pizza. I tried Andy's Pizza 11 years later in 2025, and while it was solid although not as good as Wiseguy, my real complaint with Andy's was that the pizza is very thin, where I was hungry very soon later; so a much worse value as pricing is comparable to Wiseguy. Wiseguy slices are big, and the pizza is top notch New York style. I went to this location a couple of more times after my initial August 2014 visit as I loved the pizza. Then, they opened up other locations. I went to Navy Yard one at least twice, once after a Nationals baseball game after a disappointing loss for my 4th favorite baseball team, Texas Rangers. Sorry Nats fans, but Nats are in my bottom 10 teams. I also went to Rosslyn & Pentagon City location, where parking isn't quite as bad. They even had a Wheaton Mall food court location, which I got to experience once, but they sadly closed. Every experience with Wiseguy has been positive.

When we first walked in, the cashier immediately apologized for the long wait times, thanked everyone for their patience, and let us know they were incredibly short staffed with only two people working. Because the tiny interior was already packed, we decided to leave and do some sightseeing first. However, seeing how good the pizza looked we knew we had to come back later that afternoon. There's no negative details in my review. Nothing but positive things and a small recommendation. 1. Staff and Service I really appreciated the cashier's honesty about running behind right off the bat. That allowed us to make an informed choice rather than get frustrated by a long wait. More businesses could learn from this! 2. Restaurant's Layout The inside is a bit tight and busy, but it's located in a smaller older building, so they have no other options. Since they can't expand the inside adding an outdoor pub height counter for eating, a bench or some seating out front would be a great way to give waiting patrons a place to sit. Also a place to eat. 3. The Pizza -The Veggie Pizza: My nephew and I both ordered this, and the slices were massive you'll see in my pics! They were honestly the largest slices I have ever seen! I love pizza and have eaten it in New York and Chicago, and my slice here held its own. It was loaded with a huge variety of vegetables. I requested to put mine through the oven twice to get the veggies warm and cooked because I noticed my nephew's slice looked like a warm salad on crust. So happy I did because it was delicious! The jalapeños were intensely spicy which is on me, since I'm a bit of a lightweight with spice! -The Meat Options: My son got the pepperoni and thought it was really good, and my husband got a supreme slice which he also said was good . 4. Price and pizza size- they're more expensive than a typical slice, but once you see those big ole slices in my pics you'll understand why. They can't even fit on a plate. They had to serve them to you in an actual pizza box! After reading my long review you're trying to find out if I would go back huh? Absolutely! If I ever in the area or stay at the Hilton DC again, I would definitely walk right on over and get a slice. You can feed a family of three on one slice! Adult and two small children!
