Super cute outdoor space & great pizza!! Such a cute old feeling aesthetic. I got a slice of pepperoni for $5, which was good and a decent portion. Would come back for the vibes and good pizza!

Our date night included playing BINGO at this location! :) Bingo night was hosted by "Mama's kitchen" which was really fun. First time at Sonny's. When you walk in, it's a food seating area and where you can order food. When you walk down left hallway, it's like you enter a speak easy. It's another part of the restaurant, which has semi circle cushioned booths and is a calming area. Keep going into the back and there's an outside area with a ton of cafeteria style tables and where we played Bingo. It's cold out, but there are overhead heaters Food was good! I had a single slice of pepperoni pizza, which was filling. I also had a small Cesar salad, that was big enough for 2 people You can scan the menu at the table and order via your phone - keeping the tab open or close it out. Persons bring your food/drinks to your numbered table. Gratuity is already included! Look for street parking

Love Sonny's but so surprised that they don't have vegan pizza! You can order a pizza with red sauce and arugula on top tho but slightly disappointing

Everything was delicious, fast, and the ambiance during trivia was great. Will definitely be coming back!

The pizza and Caesar salad were both great, and the atmosphere inside was casual -- a solid spot to check out in Park View. The outdoor patio was closed for a private event, but we were able to sit inside near the indoor patio. There's limited seating, but we managed to grab a table. I'd rate the pizza an 8 out of 10 and would definitely come back for more pizza and their natural wine selection

Sunny Pizza on Georgia Avenue is our second visit, and we've always enjoyed the pizza we've had there. In fact, I highly recommend it over any other pizza place in the Petworth area. However, my recent visit was a bit disappointing. My son ordered the Parmesan chicken, and he was extremely let down. The chicken was burnt and covered in tomato sauce to hide the fact that it was dry and overcooked. It's hard to cover up mistakes, and I think we would have noticed if they hadn't tried to hide it.

That pizza was so good! And it's such a cute spot! We tried a couple of their pizzas and each one was better than the last! Everyone was super friendly, and it wasn't bad finding a seat. They had multiple options from the main dining room, to the bar, to a covered patio out back! We ended up sitting in the bar, which was nice because they had a wider drink selection. The service was very attentive. The food was great, and the drinks were great too. They had a long list of apéritif and soda options, which I haven't really seen other places, but it was a nice refreshing Option. I'd highly recommend going!

    Cheese Pizza Slice

Checked here earlier today on my walk through the neighborhood. I was craving a slice of cheese pizza and googled what was close by. This was one minute away, so I decided to go with it. It was pretty empty when I went inside, so I didn't have to wait. I ordered a slice of pizza and decided to eat inside. The inside is very large, and it seems eclectic to me. I definitely think it's the type of place you can come with a large group and relax. My pizza came out pretty shortly after, and I was pleasantly surprised to see a square pizza. It wasn't too big like I thought it would be. It was decent although I'd like more cheese on mine. I noticed on the menu, they have arugula pizza with chili oil and had I actually looked at the menu I would have went with that. I'll go back soon and try that slice, and I'd come back with a friend or two next time.

Great outdoor space. A lot of people were hosting baby showers and birthday parties- so it's a flexible venue. There's also a lounge/chic vibe in another room and then a more low key bar vibe in another area! Lots of options. Pizza was crispy and flavorful!

This pizza place shares an outdoor covered space with Doubles Coffee. The seating is open and casual which is convenient for a "pizza by the slice" and beer. They have happy hour and the prices for a draft lager of $5 and $5 for a slice of "square" shaped Sicilian Pizza is good. The dough is light and not as heavy with lots of Pepperoni and Sauce. Food is served quickly along with Drinks ordering through the QR CODE. The Staff are friendly and welcoming in this casual environment and the prices are great for DC. Thank you for the bite.

I'm honestly always looking for new places to take a big group of friends for dinner or drinks and Sonny's has skyrocketed to the top of my list. A few notes from my visit: 1. You can order from a QR code but they also have waiters who stop by the table to take your order. Love the optionality, ensures that you're virtually never waiting for food or drinks. 2. The "lunch tray" style pizzas are super nostalgic, taste great, and are perfect for sharing. 3. Any place that has an interesting wine list that includes affordable local bottles is a winner in my book. Cocktails were also solid. 4. Gluten free pizza options means no one gets left out of the fun. Seriously - this place rules. Next time you're looking for a spot for a get together, run (don't walk) to Sonny's

    Michael Q.

We enjoyed the lunch tray style pizza, curvy (old world?) pepperoni that everyone loves, and both salad dressings. Seriously, the Caesar dressing was money. Sonny's entire dining room also FEELS like a lunch room with booths and a big common dining room. Unfortunately, we didn't see the value between the high wine/booze prices and added gratuity. Sonny's is the *first counter order restaurant (you also get/fill your own water) we've seen that adds a 20% gratuity. We'd encourage Sonny's to simply build in the 20% to their food cost to avoid sticker shock; it's confusing that the expos and ______ (we're unsure who else) receive 20% for walking your pizzas less than 20 feet from the kitchen to the table.

Reading and not allowing others to eat...at a restaurant.

I had, without exaggeration, one of the worst dining experiences of my life and it had nothing to do with the food, which is pretty ok. What wasn't ok was the gang of over 50 book-banging brigands who, in a hostile takeover, turned the place into their private reading room. They call themselves the Silent Book Club and apparently they do this prolifically at hip-casual dining establishments across the country. The harbinger of their coming was the obnoxious ringing of a handbell. As we sat down to eat they paraded past the hostess and staff, spreading across the entire dining area for maximum dispersion, and declaring they would be reading among us, requiring ABSOLUTE SILENCE. This isn't just some book club, this is a bunch of people who invade a shared space so they can INDIVIDUALLY read THEIR OWN book. Now listen, I read (lol) and I have no problem with people who enjoy reading in public. I also get that in the engagement-driven world we live in, it is becoming more difficult for people to read long-form content, and rarer in the physical medium. I have a problem with people who feel compelled to read very conspicuously, in places where it doesn't make any sense to, as a means to signal their status as literati. I have a problem with people who latch onto a superficial novelty to enshrine a contrarian critique of their peers to whom they are otherwise 99.9% alike. I have a problem with unhealthy obsession with the primitive as a very narrow answer to modern ailments. You know who I'm talking about. The man-bun who's meditating, in lotus pose of course, on the metro during rush hour. That anthropology major friend who wants to talk about how much better agrarian society was, ignoring feudalism and the plague. The guy wearing non-rx glasses who wants to discuss Nietzsche in the middle of a frat rager. Your cousin who studied abroad in London for half a summer and is now cultured and worldly. Sonny's was hosting the premier conference for these people. Do you know how much noise you make when you're eating? Not like talking and laughing, you know, things people enjoy while dining out. I mean just the act of eating. You will if you have to do it in the silence of the grave, under threat of piercing glances and exaggerated scoffing. Just sipping ice water becomes a car wreck, and food definitely tastes worse when you have to focus on chewing as slowly and noiselessly as possible. Worst of all was seeing how terrified the workers were and how arrogantly they were being treated by this cult of the book; that was beyond the pale. Diners can tolerate the temporary shame of disturbing this sacred ritual of sonic abstinence, but for the staff it's clear they've been directed to cater to every whim or risk their livelihoods. These readers were definitely on some power trip, waving and pantomiming and finally, only with great irritation, airily whispering their orders. Their mission statement is illuminating: "every time I open a book at home I get interrupted so we are creating a space where we can just commit to reading silently". So pretty much they have no agency at home, so they go out and appropriate a space to lord their authority over service workers, yeah ok. And since they were so enraptured by their reading, they barely ordered anything but sodas and apps, so you know the tips were smaller than the font in your favorite fantasy novel. I learned later they don't even pay to use the space, they just say ahead of time when they're showing up. Shame on management for allowing their employees to suffer these indignities! The hilarious part is it's obvious these people don't even read, what with how novel and interesting they seem to think reading makes them look. This is reinforced by their apparent lack of familiarity with libraries, you know, those public places where you can go and read individually in enforced silence among other book enjoyers. Apparently the only permissible breach of the noise taboo was to loudly, and agonizingly slowly, turn your page, signaling to the other drones your advancement in the way of the book. Half of them were engrossed in perennial, highbrow titles like "1984", "Crime and Punishment", "Fahrenheit 451", etc.; pretty much your high school English syllabus. The other half were elevating their books in positions optimized for outward visibility of the cover, but I can't imagine positioning a book vertically at eye level and at arms length is particularly conducive to reading. It's all a classic case of someone touching grass and immediately harassing others to do so. This has all really soured my impression of Sonny's and I doubt I will be returning for risk of experiencing the sequel. I could barely get the check without a hurricane of shushing. A draft of The Winds of Winter must have been taped on my back because I could feel the glare of a hundred eyes on me as I declined to tiptoe out the door.

That month I had started Uber driving, was in this area of DC, had heard good things about Wiseguy, and decided to eat here. Although I don't like paying to park just to simply eat a meal, I sometimes will make an exception for convenience and/or if it's a place I really want to go. But for the most part, I'll go to restaurant where they have free parking or at least I can find free parking near the restaurant. I remembered getting a parking spot very close and feel like I feed the meter like 50 cents in 2014 parking prices for a quick 30 minute meal. They have all kinds of varieties of slices from the standard toppings or just cheese to fancy ones. Although the pizza is fairly thin, but average for New York style pizza. I tried Andy's Pizza 11 years later in 2025, and while it was solid although not as good as Wiseguy, my real complaint with Andy's was that the pizza is very thin, where I was hungry very soon later; so a much worse value as pricing is comparable to Wiseguy. Wiseguy slices are big, and the pizza is top notch New York style. I went to this location a couple of more times after my initial August 2014 visit as I loved the pizza. Then, they opened up other locations. I went to Navy Yard one at least twice, once after a Nationals baseball game after a disappointing loss for my 4th favorite baseball team, Texas Rangers. Sorry Nats fans, but Nats are in my bottom 10 teams. I also went to Rosslyn & Pentagon City location, where parking isn't quite as bad. They even had a Wheaton Mall food court location, which I got to experience once, but they sadly closed. Every experience with Wiseguy has been positive.

When we first walked in, the cashier immediately apologized for the long wait times, thanked everyone for their patience, and let us know they were incredibly short staffed with only two people working. Because the tiny interior was already packed, we decided to leave and do some sightseeing first. However, seeing how good the pizza looked we knew we had to come back later that afternoon. There's no negative details in my review. Nothing but positive things and a small recommendation. 1. Staff and Service I really appreciated the cashier's honesty about running behind right off the bat. That allowed us to make an informed choice rather than get frustrated by a long wait. More businesses could learn from this! 2. Restaurant's Layout The inside is a bit tight and busy, but it's located in a smaller older building, so they have no other options. Since they can't expand the inside adding an outdoor pub height counter for eating, a bench or some seating out front would be a great way to give waiting patrons a place to sit. Also a place to eat. 3. The Pizza -The Veggie Pizza: My nephew and I both ordered this, and the slices were massive you'll see in my pics! They were honestly the largest slices I have ever seen! I love pizza and have eaten it in New York and Chicago, and my slice here held its own. It was loaded with a huge variety of vegetables. I requested to put mine through the oven twice to get the veggies warm and cooked because I noticed my nephew's slice looked like a warm salad on crust. So happy I did because it was delicious! The jalapeños were intensely spicy which is on me, since I'm a bit of a lightweight with spice! -The Meat Options: My son got the pepperoni and thought it was really good, and my husband got a supreme slice which he also said was good . 4. Price and pizza size- they're more expensive than a typical slice, but once you see those big ole slices in my pics you'll understand why. They can't even fit on a plate. They had to serve them to you in an actual pizza box! After reading my long review you're trying to find out if I would go back huh? Absolutely! If I ever in the area or stay at the Hilton DC again, I would definitely walk right on over and get a slice. You can feed a family of three on one slice! Adult and two small children!
