Awesome spot, came with friends and shared a couple bottles, a pizza and the saganaki. bottles were nice, bartender was cool, jams were made for millennials, pizza was awesome, saganaki just ok. Will be a regular spot

Pop Fizz Bar was OK. Some good, some bad. I visited on a Thursday evening for happy hour at ~6:30 PM. Their happy hour is "$20 Combos Pizza & Bubbles" which lets you select one of three pizzas and one of three pairings for $20. We got the Pepperoni Hot Honey pizza (normally $16) and Brazilier, Pineau d'Anius Rose (normally $12 for 5 oz) so we saved $8 over buying a la carte. Pizza is Detroit style and is basically a personal pizza size (they said it was 6" x 6" which seemed accurate) with four pieces. We also got a daiquiri ($10). We waited a long time for the pizza; the kitchen seemed slow. It tasted pretty good, but mostly of cheese -- I didn't get much sauce, pepperoni flavor, and definitely no hot honey flavor. The wine was fine but it was actually a non-sparkling rose, which wasn't what we expected when the happy hour is specifically "pizza & bubbles." The daiquiri was not very good; it was extremely lemon flavored and reminded me of lemonade, which isn't what I want or expect in daiquiri. The place is upscale casual. It's a cute space, with an L-shaped bar, some indoor tables, and a covered patio. The weather was nice, and they opened the entire front wall onto the patio, which made the space feel light and breezy. The other food on the menu sounded good and looked good on the plates we saw go by. They have a large beer can menu, but at $8-$12 it's priced too high for me. I probably would have ordered one if the prices were more reasonable, especially if they had some happy hour options. Cocktails are mostly $13, and wines $12-15. They don't have paper menus, so we had to use the menus from the website on our phone. I don't mind this if the restaurant has mobile ordering, a nice mobile-friendly menu format, and wifi. Well, they don't have any of those things. It was super annoying to squint at the PDF menu on their website, which is formatted to be printed. Service was friendly enough. I prefer beer and cocktails over wine, so I'm not their main audience. They didn't give me a compelling reason to go back.

Cute little spot went here after work with a coworker got there right at opening first we weren't impressed with the service when we first arrived however another server came in maybe 20 minutes later and she was much better the bartender I'm assuming he was the bartender and the bus boy/helper appeared drunk hardly spoke English but he was pleasant and helpful even offered me to dance with him and I did for a second he was funny The drinks were good we had the champagne problems, my won ton nachos needed a little something extra they were just mediocre my coworker got birria fries she also said they were missing something packed hers to go said she'd spruce them up at home I also had the olives which were good with the cheese the bread was god awful hard so we left it overall we give it a 3 star

This is the cutest wine bar nestled in the U-Street / Shaw neighborhood. Its a laid back chill vibe. But what is underrated and not talk about is the deep dish pizzas. Listen!!!!! Run and get it immediately. The crab pizza is AMAZING. BBQ Chicken is another winner.

Really cute and swanky fizz bar that I look forward to enjoying in the summer when the garage door is open. It's a seat yourself concept which is nice. Great for date night or with ag group of friends too. We got the lambrusco, finocchiona peppadew and goat cheese pizza, and fries. There were so many "fizzy" options ranging from zero proof to kombucha to fizz in a can. Service was great. I didn't realize the pizza had meat so I picked a lot of it off. It was good but the slices were small. Fries were yummy and Lambrusco was great.

Got to check out this cute new spot in the Shaw neighborhood they pulled me in with the name because how can you go wrong with all things bubbles they have something for everyone from your sparkling wine options to kombucha ! My friend and I tried the porron which is a fun drink for a Sunday funday! Then I tried one of their canned cocktail options - French 75- which was so delicious. We ended up trying one of their Detroit-style pizzas and it was perfect. There are a good amount of food/snack options as you sip on some bubbles. The bartenders were super knowledgeable and had great recommendations! I def will be back in the warmer months to check out their front patio space !

What a fun spot! Stopped by early Saturday evening with a group of four and we had a great time. The restaurant/bar has an extensive wine and beer list and of course serves cocktails. It's not a large restaurant, not sure if they take reservations but it definitely became busy around 6. We enjoyed the fried chicken, duck crunch wrap, and Caesar salad. Service was great.

Well, my dream came true. Finally, a sparkling inspired boozy hang out. Brent Kroll does it again - the owner of Maxwell rolled out your new favorite watering hole, full of wine, sparkling Kombucha and Detroit style pizza...what??? Yes, it's all happening and it's amazing. This winter hideaway has a spring patio vibe awaiting to be tapped in on. Can't wait to see how Pop evolves throughout the year!

Located just off the bustle of King St., Brut sits unassumingly among the Old Town townhomes. You could easily walk past, and not notice it at all. But, if you've dialed in Brut as your destination, be prepared to step in to an oenophile's wet dream. The establishment is both a bottle shop and a wine bar. Every bottle in the joint is carefully curated. There is no junk...no fluff...no quid to subsidize quo...all excellence, from any country or region your heart may desire. Do your Christmas shopping here, for sure. That shopping is going to make you thirsty, so pony up to the small but well appointed bar. Its no easy thing to find a bar with a good "wine by the glass" list, but Brut manages that task with ease. From your sauvignon blancs, through the pinots, to full bodied reds...take a flight of fancy, and walk home well fortified. Since the bar is small, and seats are at a premium, the owner Dustin does a masterful job of weeding out the Riff-raff. Trust me when I say that watching it is far better than TV. I cannot recommend this cool little spot more highly. Maybe I'll see ya there sometime!

It is not used for ordering, which was odd these days. Chill and super awesome bartender with the mother of all hickeys. Good pours. No Skrewball :-( I had the special, two hot dogs with tater tots. When it said double, I wasn't sure if that meant double the tater tots, but that meant actually two hot dogs. Really good. I also had the other special, the two pancakes. I meant to get the sausage, but they gave me the bacon instead. It was great. Well worth it. I thought that was the better value of the meals. They got a lot of board and card games. Very laid-back atmosphere, 90s and early 2000s pop on the music, comfortable seating, and good food. The prices were reasonable. This is one area that I think we are just going to have to deal with for quite some time. The give-and-take of prices,. Smothered tater tots, pancakes, two hotdogs with some tater tots, and three drinks came out to ~$55. NOT. BAD. Was it worth it? If this had been just a normal restaurant, I would've said no. It would've been more worth it if it had been about $40. But... nobody made us pay to use the board games, or the card games, and we sat there for three hours and had a really good time. So based on that, the fact they provide a venue for playing these games and hanging out for a few hours makes it all worth it. Really strange thing was that there was this balding guy with a beard that randomly showed up as a waiter. We had been dealing with a bartender, so this guy, kind of rude came on to us and we weren't sure what to do with him. He kind of blocked me from paying the bartender. Rude. Not a hangout spot every day, but certainly once a week, maybe once a month or more, definitely a place to meet up if you got a group. I was really surprised by the diversity of the people that were there. A lot of chess players, a whole table of middle-aged women, lots of different people playing games. I would give them five stars, but not quite perfect. The rude guy at the end was so odd. Otherwise, great location, great parking, the food was good, good value, and fun.

She then made a highly inappropriate comment toward my husband, stating that she was "out of strawberry Hennessy but sweet enough for him," and later propositioned him for sex in exchange for money. I ordered two drinks -- a Jolly Rancher and a Long Island. My drink had no alcohol in it, despite costing nearly $50 for both drinks. When my husband returned the drink to the bar and mentioned that it lacked alcohol, the bartender laughed and called me a "bitch." Churchkey itself is everything a great bar should be. The beer selection is absolutely unreal -- hundreds of carefully curated labels spanning every style, region, and flavor profile you can imagine. What sets it apart is that the staff actually knows the menu. Our server walked us through a few options based on what we liked and landed us on perfect picks both times. That kind of genuine expertise is rare. The tavern pizzas from the wood-fired oven were a wonderful surprise -- thin, crispy, and the perfect companion to a cold draft. The smash burger also deserves a mention: simple, well-executed, and hits the spot. The vibe is warm and lively without being overwhelming.
