Melon sorbet - A dessert featuring melon sorbet garnished with paprika, served with a fried item, alongside a glass of red wine on a marble table.

MtP was missing this type of place. Small menu, in the zone, not pretentious but could be! It's the small touches that really set this place apart. Former gas station turned corner cocktail and restaurant hub, arriving early means heading to the backyard for a pre-dinner drink and vibes. The bartendar will come out, take your order, make your drink, bring them back out and transfer your tab to your table (the little things). I had a negroni which was perfectly made and friend got a gin martini, also...perfectly made! Low slug tables fill the small dining room where bussers and waiters keep water filled and small plates coming. It's Italian rustic fair with starters (in my opion) being the star. We stacked up on the crudo, the fried squash blosoms which were good. They shrimp ceviche and the terrine were gobbled up with gusto. The tuno with foi was bananas and should be arrested for assault!! And the lamb skewers were so good, we ordered two!!!! My friends said the corn pasta was shockingly light to look so creamy and had the right punch of citrus to transform something simple into something delicious! The pizza, well, it took a back seat to the starters but delivered with an excellent crust (which is the make-or-break for all pizzas). If you need to really leave full, go for it. We were convinced to get the melon sorbet which.....yup...delicious. Refreshing and a great way to end dinner!! We had opted to get wine by the bottle which is probably the best deal. Their selection is solid and we enjoyed what we got. All and all...this place is a yes for me and will be on steady rotation for MtP dining!

Lovely neighborhood spot. Have been here a couple times, everything on the menu tastes really fresh, with simple ingredients that really shine in each dish. A little on the pricey side since portions can be small and some dishes are more worth it than others imo. The food also takes a while to be served; we usually get there as it opens to avoid a wait. Some of my favs are the arrosticini, pasta, and of course the pizzas. The pasta and pizza flavors will rotate depending on what they have - when i went the pasta was a sungold tomato bigoli that was incredible and the pizza was lamb sausage pizza with jimmy nardello peppers. Pizza is sooo delicious, flavorful, and crustyyy. would absolutely be back!

overpriced? yes. would i come back? hell yeah! wine recommendation was incredible. food was good but not as mind-blowing. service was average considering the cost. back patio? amazing vibes. prob 4.3 to be exact.

I think this place has only a few reviews because people in the neighborhood are gate keeping it! It's that great. It's very small and they don't take reservations or call you when you're on the waitlist, so it is a waiting game. Their new outdoor garden will be great for waiting in the summer! The prices seem a little steep, but there is no tipping at all and everything is top quality. It's worth it and meant for sharing lots of plates. They change the menu constantly based on seasonal ingredients. The grilled lamb skewers are a constant on the menu and are a must! They have a great wine by the glass list and a small simple cocktail selection. All the staff is great. They don't rush you. As they gave us our card back, they dropped off a fresh bottle of tap water. I will definitely be back!

We arrived for an early dinner and the place was already busy. We had to put our name down and had a short wait before a table was ready. Since we had time to review their menu, we were able to order quickly - Fritto, Arrosticini, and the Artichoke pizza along with a bottle of white wine. The Fritto (fried asparagus) was great. It reminded me of tempura and the saffron mayo sauce was delicious. The Arrosticini (lamb skewers) had tiny pieces of lamb but were tender and seasoned well. Our Artichoke pizza came in last and we both really enjoyed it. I wouldn't normally think artichoke went well on pizza but it was quite good. We had a great first time dining experience. The staff were friendly and the food was great. I would enjoy coming back here again.

bar del monte is a walk-in only italian restaurant with well-executed small plates. we went on sunday at 6:30 and were seated quickly. the menu is seasonal, and ingredients are simple. it's a bit pricey. in retrospect, this place would be best if you get several pizzas to fill you up

We waited in the outside patio for a table where they grow fresh ingredients for their menu! - A beverage with ice and an orange slice is placed on a patio table next to a plant and a menu from Bar del Monte.

Favorite spot in DC. The food is consistently delicious, always fresh, and flavorful. The waiters are delightful and seem genuinely happy to be there. Great vibes all around.

I recently went here for a late weekend dinner with a friend and we were able to immediately get a table (Bar del Monte doesn't take reservations). Our service was good throughout and the ambiance is solid. While prices initially look expensive, Bar del Monte includes the service charge in the bill (final prices end up being in-line with similar DC restaurants. The menu changes regularly and my guess is seasonally. My friend and I split a cheesy eggy pasta with ramps and a cheese and ramp pizza. Although slightly salty, the pasta was rich, creamy, cheesy, and delicious. The pizza was fine and the crust was good overall, although it got burnt in a few too many spots. I would recommend trying Bar del Monte if you are in Mount Pleasant and looking for a spot to eat.

Expect to wait longer than they quote you! Two of us showed up at 7 pm on a Friday and were quoted an hour wait (they said they would text when table ready). They were busy but not slammed. The vibes are leisurely, the tables are very far apart and quite large for the party size. We grabbed a drink nearby and after an hour we headed back towards the restaurant to check. Our table was not ready. In total, we waited over an hour and a half for our table. We were very hungry by then so ordered immediately. Food came out fast. We split the ravioli special, a Margherita pizza (add prosciutto) and the flor di latte gelato. All the food was very good, the pizza and gelato are must gets. The portions are on the smaller side so take note if you're very hungry. I could've eaten entire plates myself easily. I left full with a good meal but overall the wait and anticipation left me feeling not very satisfied. Come here if you know the system and/or don't mind waiting

Stopped in pretty early on a weekend to try out del monte - wait was about an hour for 2. Bar is first come first serve. Small tables inside (back patio coming), maybe 5 or so seats at the bar itself, rotating menu. We tried a good amount of the menu - everything tasted fresh and was good, portions are on the smaller side, dishes are pretty simple. Enjoyed the small plates/salads more than we did the pizza, which was a razor thin crust with the majority of the flavor being dominated by the char on the edges. favorite dishes were the crudo, salad and asparagus. Overall a great place if you live in the neighborhood, but more a once in a while place for me given the wait time and that while everything was good, there were few standouts. The gratuity inclusive prices are nice but we still ended up around $180 for two leaving hungry (and without alcohol)

I have mixed feelings about Bar Del Monte. I like what they are trying to do and I like the service-included model, but I don't think they are operating at the top of their game or that they are worth the trip. Their website menu leaves a lot to be desired. Unlike the IRL menu, it doesn't include any dish descriptions and it doesn't include any prices. For a restaurant that prides itself on service-included pricing, not being price transparent on the website is a let down. Both the website and IRL menus don't do a good job of indicating which dishes are appetizers vs entrees. It turns out that the only entrees are pizzas, which was not what I expected. I thought some of the dishes that turned out to just be apps would be entrees, or some of the specials (unlisted online) would also be entrees. Nope. I thought they would have some pasta dishes or something, or the grilled fish of the day would be an entree (mentioned online but absent IRL). I visited on a Sunday at 5 PM right when they opened with a party of four. The restaurant is very small, with only roughly 4 four-tops, 7 two-tops, and 5 seats at the bar. It looks like they maybe have some room to expand in the front and back. We were the 5th group of four, so were initially turned away, until they combined two of the two-tops for us. So, if you arrive with a group, get there early or be prepared to wait. In contrast, two-tops were easy to get. I did notice a few two-tops squeeze in a third person. Service was adequate. It was not particularly helpful or friendly. It took a long time for food to come out. We had a selection of share plates: fritto (fried veggies, $19), arrosticini (five lamb skewers, $17), artichoke salad ($21), lamb liver pate ($21), clam pizza (12", 6 slices, $27). Quality was good but portions were small. I don't recommend ordering like we did; better to get one pizza per person and then supplement with small plates or dessert if desired. When we split these all four ways, I didn't really get enough of any dish to appreciate it. The fritto had a very nice, light, crunchy tempura fry. Lamb skewers were also tasty. Pate was pate. Salad was pretty bland. Clam pizza was fine but not clammy enough. Pate was served with three pieces of bread even though we were a four-top, so we asked for more (free). We also had some wine ($10-$15), beer ($7), and negronis ($14). The beer is only 240ml (~8 oz) which is less than a can (12oz) and a proper pint (16oz). This feels a big disingenuous. IMO 12oz is the minimum amount any restaurant should be serving for beer, with a pint the actual proper serving size. Some of us were still hungry but no one wanted to order more at Bar Del Monte. We had heard great things about the restaurant but were unanimously unimpressed. I'm also disappointed that prices didn't include tax. If you include service, you might as well include tax. I found the menu prices a little high but I kept reminding myself that prices included service. I did some math afterwards and I think the prices are reasonable for what we got.

Wonderful little spot tucked away in Adams Morgan! Bar del Monte occupies what used to be an auto shop, and vestiges remain - in the exposed brick, the angular interior, and the expansive front window, which lets in volumes of natural light. This lovely atmosphere set the stage well for the excellent food. We shared several dishes, starting with the anchovies. They were huge (for anchovies, that is), packed with salty bursts of flavor, and accompanied by crusty bread and a delightfully light water buffalo butter. Next up was the chickpeas. These were really good! The chickpeas absorbed the flavor of their broth, which contained tomatoes, saffron, and chili, very well. The last of our small plates was the chaos creator, more commonly known as the fritto. This consisted of delicately battered and fried vegetables. I think chaos creator (brought up in a different context at dinner) is an apt name because it's very tasty and very likely to cause chaos as people scramble to secure another morsel. Finally, we shared a delicious Margherita pizza topped with buffalo mozzarella, plus a sweet treat for dessert (the hazelnut gelato, super creamy!). Bonus points to them for having a wonderful waitstaff and for including the tip and all other fees in the menu price! It was so refreshing to just sign the bill at the end and be done.

Wow, what a special place! I came to Bar del Monte on a whim with a girlfriend after a day of shopping, and it did not disappoint. Bar del Monte doesn't take reservations, so we were thrilled to walk in and be seated immediately on a Sunday night around 7:30 pm. We started with two glasses of their "fancy wine of the day," which was absolutely divine--so much so that we ended up ordering a bottle. Both of us had been wanting to try this spot for a while, so we were eager to sample multiple dishes. While some Yelp reviews mentioned the food was tasty but costly, we couldn't disagree more. Bar del Monte pays its staff a living wage and operates as a no-tip restaurant, which naturally reflects in their prices. We found their prices to be comparable to most restaurants in DC. The food was fresh, flavorful, and simple yet elevated. The pizza, in particular, was out of this world--hands down the best crust I've ever had, both in DC and beyond. The ambiance was well curated and quaint. The staff was warm and attentive, and the entire experience felt thoughtful and special. I will absolutely be coming back.

KenScale: 8.0/10 Visit: March 2026…read more Another thing besides food that my wife Jun and I are passionate about is wine. We first got to know each other through shared love for a glass of wines (especially at a rooftop or outdoor wine bar on a gorgeous day in Manhattan), and we even had our wedding in Napa Valley. Ever since we moved to the DC metro area, we continued to enjoy trying new wines, but mostly in our home instead of outside, partly because Bethesda (where we live) doesn't really have a killer wine bar. When the team behind Lutèce and Pascual opened a new wine bar in Adams Morgan last year, I wanted to see if Maison Bar À Vins would solve that problem of finding a casual wine bar where we can try a few wines along with delicious food. I'm happy to report that our recent visit last month to Maison Bar À Vins was quite satisfying. For the Maison project, Matt Conroy (the executive chef of Lutèce and Pascual) put chef de cuisine Jason Chaveson (formerly at Reverie; still can't get over the fact it closed so abruptly) in charge of the kitchen, which is located downstairs away from the dining room. The relatively concise menu at Maison features mostly French dishes that are smartly prepared and also great for sharing. We both quite enjoyed the dish called tarama (a traditional Greek dip made from salted fish roe) inside seaweed choux buns. Same for the crispy tête de Cochon with rich, creamy Mornay sauce that was not as heavy as I would've expected. Getting one or two vegetables at Maison is also a wise choice. We liked the carrots with 'nduja and Bleu d'Ambert cheese, but it was the dramatically plated beet tart (I certainly didn't expect an entire chunk of beet on top of the tart) that really stole the show with terrific texture and freshness. For larger dishes, the brioche stuffed chicken seems to have quickly become a signature dish at the restaurant. The texture of the chicken breast was on point and the choice of green-colored brioche worked quite well. If you still have room for dessert, my vote is to go with the delightful profiteroles with banana and rhum that would not be out of place at a top bistro in Paris. We also tried the Basque cheesecake and Vin Jaune and wildflower-honey; based on the way Jun savored the soft cheesecake, I immediately knew it was a success. Getting a reservation at Maison Bar À Vins will definitely require advance planning, especially given the relatively small size of the dining room behind the bar area (which seems more amenable to walk-ins). I also was impressed with the breadth of the wine list covering different geographic regions in France and beyond, with many of the bottles at fairly reasonable price points and leaning on natural style. The darkly lit dining room where we dined was a little cramped but otherwise worked fine with as a nice dating spot or for gathering with friends and family. The service was overall friendly and seamless as well. We had a lot to like about Maison Bar À Vins with familiar yet well-executed food and an enticing wine list; I was told that the food and wine menu changes fairly constantly. I look forward to visiting again with Jun next time we see some significant changes to the menu. It is certainly a wine bar in DC worth visiting for serious food and wine experience.

History of Present Indulgence 32 yo M presents with spouse…read moreand friend for pre-comedy show dinner at Italian establishment on 18th Street in Adams Morgan. No reservation and sat comfortably at the bar. Physical Examination Food - This place was absolutely delicious. We started with Arancini and Prosciutto e Polenta. The arancini was fried perfectly - crispy outside, warm risotto inside, and sitting in this savory-sweet tomato sauce that I could've honestly just eaten with a spoon (and basically did using the focaccia they give with your meal - which itself was delicious too). The arancini also has ground beef in the center, which adds to the flavor and depth of what is usually just fried risotto. The polenta fries with paprika aioli were fantastic too. My only complaint is that I wish there were more of the fries because there were only 3 to go along with the large plate of sliced prosciutto. The prosciutto itself was fine. Just standard quality prosciutto. For mains, we went family-style and shared three entrees: the pork ossobuco from the secondi menu, the tagliarini with shredded duck, and the cavatelli with rabbit and fava beans. The ossobuco was cooked well, though I wish the braise flavor went deeper into the pork. The truffle mushroom risotto underneath was incredible. Rich, creamy, and the fresh lemon and parsley gremolata on top cut through all that richness perfectly. The tagliarini was delicious, but my wife and I agreed that the duck flavor was a little lost in the rich marinara sauce. It didn't feel like I was eating duck, to be honest. You could've told me that was shredded short rib, and I might've believed you. The cavatelli was probably my favorite dish - those shell-shaped pasta pieces with rabbit and fava beans in a white wine sauce that had this unique flavor I haven't tasted anywhere else. There's a mild gaminess from the rabbit, but it was very subtle. Each time I had a fava bean, it was a fun change of pace in texture and taste as I was spooning this plate down my throat. It was so so good. Portions were generous too, which made the prices feel totally worth it. We left full and satisfied. My wife had a lambrusco spritz that was deliciously refreshing, and we shared some good wine throughout the meal. No complaints. Service - The bartender was really kind and attentive. Even though we weren't at a table, we didn't feel like we were getting second-tier service or anything. They checked on us regularly, made good recommendations, and kept everything moving smoothly. I also love a service that offers more table bread without needing to be asked. And their table bread was this fragrant focaccia, so I could've eaten all of whatever they brought. Ambiance - haven't been to a ton of Italian restaurants in DC, but I loved the vibe here. Intimate, cozy, dim lighting. The wine selection was great too - enough variety to be interesting without being one of those overwhelming 50-page wine lists. I think this would be a perfect date night spot. Assessment A high-quality Italian restaurant with creative takes on traditional dishes, generous portions, and an intimate atmosphere. A strong contender for the Adams Morgan dining scene, where restaurants are lined up right next to each other, and making a choice can be a bit difficult. Plan - Add to recommended restaurant list for DC visitors - Consider for future date nights or a solo wine and appetizer moment - Return to try more pasta dishes or enjoy a happy hour
