My review concerns their delivery. They DO deliver, but it's hit or miss if the order arrives during the time-frame they give you. Also, you don't know the total you'll pay until you order. That's when you find out how high their delivery fee is. Also, they add a tip automatically. Bottom line, expect to pay a high deliver fee and tip for a service that you're not happy with. The employee searched everywhere, even climbing a ladder to dig through top shelves because nothing had actually been pulled. The manager then claimed someone "put it back," which is a ridiculous excuse for an order already marked ready. I waited over 30 minutes for something that should have been sitting at the counter. And if they don't have it, they can do a special order. We were lucky to find Sherry's on Yelp and called in advance to inquire if they carried a specific type of Russian vodka. Yes, they do. So we stopped in and the sales person was very helpful he found exactly what we were looking for. I would highly recommend Sherry's for the hard to find liquor/wines, etc. Customer service is great, very knowledgeable and helpful. Sherry's has a pretty amazing selection for such a small frontage. I stopped by thinking it was your typical, tiny city liquor store. You know - the kind with only three brands of scotch cuz they needed to make room for the lottery machine. Then I walked in and saw how deep the store was...and the rows and rows of bottles, stacked high. (Turns out the scotch whiskey collection was impressive.) Prices were average to high here, which was not a surprise for this location. I was here to grab some beers for the hotel room fridge and Sherry's did not disappoint. They offered a great selection of cold ones in back. I had a little trouble deciding but eventually settled on a west coast IPA 4-pack from an east coast micro brewery. Confusing yet delicious. My only nits: some of the fridge doors were in need of repair and the staff was slightly rude to me. But overall Sherry's was a surprisingly nice find in a hood without a lot of spirit options. read more

The huge replicates of Champagne & Cognac in the front windows seems to be the hot topic of requests. As when I asked for the Cashier's take on pronouncing 'Veuve Clicquot', he said no. In my endless quest to find Fernet Branca in DC, I decided to give up on the bars (for now). The liquor stores were my next target. I was told Sherry's Liquors carried everything. EVERYthing? This is one of the better liquor stores I've gone to in the District. It doesn't look that big from the outside, but when you walk in, you can see that it goes pretty far back. The front area is the wine section while the back is devoted to beer. I believe all their hard liquor is behind the counter in front. They have a large number of beers from all the well-known craft breweries (Bells, Stone, Dogfish, Lagunitas,Founders, etc) plus some that I don't always come across in DC (such as Ballast Point). Prices were reasonable too. The wine options are also respectable. Can't comment on the hard liquor since I wasn't paying attention to it. Overall a pleasant surprise. While there are a handful of liquor stores closer to where I live, I might be tempted to return here in the future. Definitely recommend if you're in the Woodley Park/Adams Morgan area. read more

This is the third Woodley Park location of Sherry's since I've been in DC; first it was where Chipotle now stands, then it moved across the street and was part of what is now CVS. Hopefully the third time's a charm. In any event, don't be fooled by the small store front Sherry's is a fantastic liquor store that is as deep as it is well-stocked. It has, hands down, the best gin selection in DC; if you can't find it here, it's probably not available in the DMV (if you've ever been to the Gin Joint across the street, you'll have an idea of what they have to offer; think Botanica, Bulldog, Death's Door, Monkey 47 and Old Raj). It's also A great place for the amateur (or even professional) mixologist looking for bitters; they have everything you need, from the usual brands (Angostura, Sazerac, Regan's) to the more esoteric (Fee Brothers, Bitter Truth, Scrappy's). Great selection of local artisinal spirits including Rock Creek Rye and Green Hat Gin. If that wasn't already enough to sell you on this place, they also have a growler station. Located conveniently across the street from Woodley Park Metro. Friendly staff and a nice enough liquor selection to make Ron Swanson proud. It's mostly the bottles on sale that are ever priced below par, and the more mainstream whiskeys can be found for cheaper in liquor control counties. The fact that they've worked to flesh out the varietals is awesome (Filibuster triple cask, Tyrconnell port/madeira finishes), but it's more than a little disappointing that they toss most of their boxes. They do a fair attempt at advertising their tasting programs on Facebook, but sometimes they have sales in store that haven't gotten updated on their website. This will definitely become a regular pit stop when I'm looking for something rare the smaller DC booze boutiques won't invest in, and I can't be bothered to trek all the way to Schneider's. read more

While I'm not a connoisseur by any stretch of the imagination, I have been able to find what I need here on my way home from the Metro. For the area, it's a solid liquor store. They know their clientele. They have lots a good selection of wine and beer, and their spirit selection is solid as well. I am really happy that they have as many bitters and other liquers as they do...they really help flesh out a good bar. Unfortunately, it's DC, so everything is more expensive than it should be. But it's still cheaper than a lot of other spots, for wine, liquor and beer. If you really want wine, though, head to Calvert Woodley...they have a much better selection and some very knowledgeable staff. Talk about being at the right place at the right time ! I stayed at the nearby Omni Shoreham (Five Star Review for me!) and wanted to get "Something strong to drink". Surely I can find a beer on this block? Across the street, a place offers $1 margarita's between 4pm to 6 pm. That just won't do. Then I find this spot. It's clean, sleek and has just what I'm looking for. When I go in I feel, just for a moment, like I'm back in NYC. The narrow store has a foyer space to enter before you walk in. It has imported and domestic beer and wine, with all the catchy and unique names you never quite heard of but want to try because they just sound so good. Space's floor isn't level so you step down as you move towards the back. It's cramped but in a good way...Much like a store in NYC that maximizes its space. I got a 24 oz. Red Stripe and a small bottle of Absolut. Didn't cost much and that was nice. I liked going here. It was right on time and stylishly nice. Five Stars. read more

While the interior is a bit narrow the selection is second to none that I have found. But on top of that the knowledge and incredibly courteous staff will help you find that perfect wine or spirit. A pretty nice place for a one stop shop to get all your alcohol needs. I was surprised on how much stuff they could fit into one tiny shop. It's a bit hard sometimes to get around since they pile on SO much stuff into these tiny aisles, so -1 star for the messy space which was sometimes hard and overwhelming to navigate. But I was happy to find some St. George gin which is from my hometown area of Alameda, CA. The staff was also super friendly and helpful. I also found Four Loko in the fridge, which I thought was banned but looks like they changed their formula so I guess you can party it up like you're a freshman in college again. The wine selection was also somewhat vast but a little bit over priced. Coming from California, the prices were a little bit hard to swallow so we went with the hard alcohol. read more

Sherry's is either meh or pretty great, depending on what you want. As someone who loves both beer and whiskey, I'm torn. Their beer is ridiculously, prohibitively expensive, and the selection is pretty small (although there are good beers to be had). Their single-malt selection, however, is fantastic, and the prices are reasonable. They also have random tastings and encourage you to try whatever scotch or wine they have opened, and I've seen them advertise a single-malt sale on Thursdays, though I haven't taken advantage yet. I ordered wine online with them. This place is bait and switch. They lure you in with a good offer and then tell you they "ran out" of the vintage you bought but have a different one that's "newer" and "fresher" in the hope that you don't know or care. One thing is they try to ship you a different product than you bought, the other is that they think they can get away with it. Most people know there's a difference. Expensive, expensive, expensive! I've lived in the neighborhood for over 18 months, and during that time this liquor aka... Package store has gone down hill. Reasons: 1. They charge anywhere between $11.99-$15 for a six pack of beer. Outrageous! 2. They sell expired beer for $10.99. At least make it a deal, like $6.99 or $5... 3. 12 packs of beer are about $20. Domestic beers ( coors, bud, bud light, miller) are normal prices. They do have a great selection of hard liquor. That's the reason for the one star. My advice, go to the Safeway in Adams Morgan, or the best bar in Cleveland Park, Atomic Billiards. read more
